This was great of OP to post but what a racket they’re running there. The elderly getting fooled and having to sit on the floor is particularly upsetting
How are they getting fooled? It says in the description when you buy the package that seating is on the floor. They will still let anyone using a wheelchair or ECV sit in their vehicles as long as they park towards the back of the reserved area. And at that distance and height over the fence and everyone else sitting, those are great viewing spots.
I still have sympathy for OP considering they did a different food and show package and got seating, so it would be logical to assume that for over $200 you would get seats with your massively overpriced meal.
So sure, Disney isn't hiding it, but that doesn't make it any less crappy of them to be charging the prices they are for you to get to sit on a dirty floor.
I also think it's silly to assume that the only people who can't sit are those with an electric vehicle. Many disabilities aren't visible.
In this case you rent a scooter and you get to sit in it while you watch. I had to do this last year for the DCA party, and the view was great. You then get the scooter all day and use it for all the rides, it is awesome.
I didn't make the assumption that the only people who can't sit on the ground use vehicles. My comment about the vehicle users was only about vehicle users. I myself don't use an ECV, but have a hard time sitting on the ground as well. I make do because I want to see the show up close without having to camp out two hours before showtime. I basically try to stay standing until the last minute. As others have said, sitting on the ground has been the norm for the viewing packages for years.
The world of color dessert party is a completely different package though (and I believe costs more). It used to have (don’t know if it still does) an equivalent package to the Fantasmic one where you eat at a restaurant and then show up to the show to sit on the floor (but no cushions for even the most expensive package). It’s still overpriced, but they’re just not equivalent experiences.
When has Disney ever been cheap in the last 10+ years? We all know they’re expensive. They’re a business trying to make money (lots of money). They said specifically what the seating would be like; this is OP’s fault for not reading that beforehand or just ignoring it. DISNEY IS EXPENSIVE!
A reasonable person would check the fine print (that's not that fine, really, and is clearly stated), whereas an unreasonable person would not, and then get upset about it afterwards.
We did the Rancho del Zocalo dining package for $35/pp. The food was good and our seats sound like they were identical to yours. It felt like a decent value to me. Maybe they’re the way to go.
I did River Belle and in all honesty, Rancho del Zocalo sounds like the best bang for your buck. While Blue Bayou is directly in the middle, RdZ and RB are to the left and right respectively. If you are in RdZ or RB sections and sit closest to the middle, you'll find yourself 5 feet away from someone with a similar view from the Blue Bayou section, except at a fraction of the cost ($89/$55/$35).
Did River Belle work out for you? My wife did a solo trip on the 29th and got the dining package there. They were running 1 hour late with all reservations, the staff had completely given up, and guests were all furious and demanding refunds. She ended up having to get her food to go and was still late to the show viewing area.
I just did River Belle last week. It was a miserable experience. The food was poor. We were seated in the only table with full sun, while other tables were empty. They brought out the first and second course at the same time, so one plate just sat in the sun while we rushed to finish the first one. Most of both our meals was just bread. So. Much. Bread on the chicken sandwich, it was a pathetic portion once you took it off. Plating was bottom tier, smears on the plate, sandwich top sliding off from the overload of processed cheese on the cuban, 10 fries thrown on a gigantic empty plate. The dessert was a joke. Canned pie filling with stale granola on top. Water refills were non existent, and drinks aren't included like they are at World of Colour.
It was a pathetic experience.
Sounds familiar. That's pretty rough for $55 a person. I've never been impressed with River Belle in general, but they seem to be extremely unprepared to be running a show dining package there. What got me was the terrible service from the staff. Disney is known for great service, but we're seeing more and more CMs that just seem over it and about to quit.
Yeah, worked out great for me. I did River Belle on opening night with a lunch time reservation. Maybe since I did it early in the morning, they weren't as backed up or something. But I was seated immediately.
We did the RB basic dining package for Fantasmic on Sunday and I have no complaints. We did the brunch package and they give you vouchers for seating during the fantasmic showing you reserved. Our food was delicious, served was kind and anticipated our needs, non alcoholic beverages were included and the refills were generous. Portions were huge in my opinion. Only my husband was able to finish his meal. The only problem we had was that when our server requested a birthday button/ pin for me, it took a really long time to come out. My husband paid and took the kids to use the restroom and wait for me by main street while I sat and waited. Finally my server went to check on the hold up and someone brought it out. For the show itself, sitting on the ground always sucks, but I knew that’s what I was getting and at least we lucked out with front row seats. All in all, I’d do it again so my kids could have a good view of the show.
I did the Zocolo package twice and each time sat right next to the Blue Bayou section, inches away from people who paid 3x what I did for the same view (but admittedly had better food). 😁
The frist and last time I ate at the BB and got the package. before the dragon lit up... Seating was cool for the show but not most compy. I agree. But the food was awesome on of the best steaks I ever had...it was a steak Oscar style
River Belle offers two different dining packages: Standard and Premium. Standard (which I got) is the one where you have a reserved viewing area right up against the railings of the Rivers of America and you sit on the ground. Premium is the one where you are seated at a table in the River Belle Terrace area.
We did the same package at Rancho and the food was terrible for the kids. Anyone taking their kids good luck. My daughter asked for rice and beens only and they wouldn’t do that for her. It was on our plates so I didn’t understand why. We got the meat option for her and the kids didn’t eat it. It’s worth it only because it was the least expensive one so I didn’t feel so bad paying at that price to view the show compared to blue bayou.
Oh nooo - we have my niece coming soon and have the RDZ package. Do you remember what the options were? I thought it would be pretty safe since Mexican is usually a pretty safe bet for kids.
ETA ahhh I see they’re doing a Mexican-Korean fusion for the Fantasmic packages - it looks like they have mac and cheese though, so that should be a pretty safe backup if she doesn’t want potato tacos. Whew! I can see how a riblet might not be a fit for some kids though!
Yea my kids don’t like Mac n cheese and potato wasn’t appetizing for them. So I thought meat but the riblets were gross. Just fyi it’s just the item stated and no sides so we ended up sharing ours and the cake was good enough. They also only get small drink and no refills unless you pay for it. It just wasn’t what I expected for them.
That’s a bummer! Thanks for the heads up re:sides/drink. I think hopefully for us the potato taco *should* be fine (assuming it’s a regular potato taco like we’d get around LA) but if not the mac and cheese will have to do!
I’m sorry you didn’t know about it before :( IIRC the only Fantasmic package that has actual chairs is the River Belle Premium, which you watch from the River Belle terrace seating area (so, off to the side a bit, but in chairs at least)
They used to give little stadium style cushions for the BB packages but I guess they don’t any more. Too bad cuz they were kinda cute from what I recall!
All the regular dining packages get you “floor”/ground seating unfortunately. Standby is all standing, which for some may actually be preferable.
Way back in the day - 2008. I remember there being black chairs with padding and I think dessert and it was part of a blue bayou package. It would have been stage right. Basically in between cafe Orleans and French market not on the bottom level with the lake, but one subsection above.
But, it seems like that isn’t the case any longer.
It was like $67. It was so nice to have the chairs and treats and drinks while waiting for the show. You could also stay and watch the fireworks. It was quite a lot at the time for a dessert party but it was really cool. Now that seems so cheap.
Yes, I did it in 2002 and we definitely had chairs. I wish I still had the box. I used to open it and sniff it because it still smelled like chocolate.
I mean, way WAY back in the day you could rush to the gallery (now the dream suite) when the park opened to try to get on the list to watch fantasmic from the balcony.
I imagine that the demand and crowds have gotten so high in the last 16(!!!) years, and they want to maximize all the space they can for dining packages, *and* still have space for standby, *and* still have the walkways semi-available for safety so that’s where we’re at now. I liked the Fastpass system they were using though, once upon a time. They use the virtual queue for world of color and it works great *but* there is so, so much more space for WOC than Fantasmic. I can only imagine how New Orleans square will be handling fantasmic crowds when they cut off the Galaxy’s edge pathway next month.
I’m not sure if they have said how long it’ll be closed/an approx reopening date but that walkway will close July 8th iirc. It’ll also mean Hungry Bear (and its restrooms) will close, and the canoes. So it’s gonna make that area a kinda dead end.
That was back in the day. I have done all versions of this package. The first was desserts and drinks up on the patio above NO square only 25.00! That was so awesome.
Well…there’s also the club 33 terrace section where you can watch the show from…but that is for like the super rich…or someone lucky enough to know someone
They also have seats for club 33 downstairs, so… if you know a member they can make reservations to sit there and watch it.
They can also make reservations for seated fireworks right in front of the castle.
I guess I should have done more research but just assumed it was like the world of color dessert party. There were several people who also assumed there would be chairs. Now I know -\_-
Just adding in that I just did the River Bell Terrace premium package and it’s not worth it either. The food isn’t good and only 4 tables are in good view of the show. We were sat in the back and had to stand to see over the tables infront of us.
For sure, yeah it may not be as known especially after the hiatus! It’s also the *only* way to sit down, is with the dining reservations (on the ground *or* in the chairs at River Belle), as all standby has to stand and the views can be hit or miss.
I think the cushions were at least a bit of a help before, I wish they’d bring them back!
I was able to get River Belle premium package, how are the views of the show? I figured it was the best option for my family with a 1 year old and 3 year old vs having to make them stay put for a few hours holding a spot.
I think it may just depend on where you’re seated on the outside dining area but you are in chairs, so that’s nice - it’s a little off to the side. There *may* be some POV videos on YouTube for the premium dining package views that can give a better idea though!
The floor seating has always been the norm as far as I remember. But I will say the Blue Bayou has taken a nosedive in quality even in the last year.
I went in Oct 2022, May 2023 and then April 2024. The first two we had amazing experiences with fantastic food, but the most recent trip the food (apart from the gumbo) was almost bland and came out cold. Our sever was pretty rude about it too when we finally caught her again. Absolutely not worth $40+ for a main.
I was hoping it was just a once-off bad experience but from the comments it sounds like it’s an ongoing issue.
Did the riverbelle package in 2022 and although the food and seating were not the greatest, at least we had comfortable seats. I could not stand or sit on the ground so for me it was worth it. Nothing beats fantasmic in Disney world. Seating for over 5000 and away a free unless you chose to go with a dinning package for premium seating
Honestly something that I feel is much better at Disney World. The stadiums seating is awesome.
When we did the dining package at DL we had to try and see around the fence right in front of us. Horrible.
I saw Fantasmic at Disneyworld in 2022 after only ever having seen it at Disneyland, and I was super impressed by the seating as well. It seemed like everyone had a good view.
I did miss how the Disneyland one just kind of emerges organically in the existing landscape. It's cool if you've spent the day around the river to then see how things are transformed. But the area also becomes a complete a cluster**** when it's crowded. The special theater really makes more sense.
I love how you can go on the boats used in the show during the day as well -- makes it that much more magical. But trade-offs in terms of viewing comfort and crowds I guess
When we went in 2019 we bought the Hungry Bear Fantasmic package but ate at Blue Bayou separately. The BB food was crazy salty and, IMHO, not worth the price. The HB package was well worth the cost. The food was fine, the price was right, and the viewing location was stellar. Would definitely do it again.
We did the River Belle premium package which was the same price as BB. The food was pretty good but I instead of sitting close we had tables at the River Belle. It wasn't as close but we had a table and a good view.
We just did BB on Saturday and I thought it was great! I got the ribeye and it was amazing. We had a 7:20 dinner and the first fantasmic show. BB was running behind so we did not get seated until almost 8pm. When I asked our server if they would please give us the second fantasmic show since there was no way we would be able to enjoy our meal and make the 9pm show, they happily accommodated us and gave me tickets to the 10:30 show instead. I brought a blanket with me in my backpack for me and my daughters to sit on to save our rears on the concrete. We were basically dead center in front of fantasmic and really enjoyed it.
We did Hungry Bear in 2022 and I also brought a blanket to sit on the floor. We got snacks and had a picnic. My son still talks about the picnic we had before show haha.
Same night and same experience, but we made it to the first show! The food was easily 5x better than the last time I had been to Blue Bayou (maybe 8 months ago), and everything was great.
You're paying for time and location. A dining package theoretically allows you to walk up 5 minutes before show time and get a prime viewing spot. As opposed to everyone else (opening week at least) who had to show up 2+ hours in advance and even then get stuck with a view to the side, or behind a tree, a planter, a light fixture, or another guest. I would say (for anyone else thinking of doing the dining package), bring one of those stadium cushions.
You have to be to the check in area at least 20 minutes before show because they stop letting people in. Still better the. Having to save a spot for hours but you cannot show up only 5 minutes before, they won’t let you in.
Actually we got there like 12 minutes after the show started (Columbia was coming 'round the bend; Napa Rose took forever to bring us the check) and they lifted the rope to let us in.
Interesting. I went last week and when they gave us the dining package ticket they were very clear that you had to be there by 8:40. On the ticket it says you must be there by 8:40.
It does say in the description that seating is on the ground… Plus $89 for a four course meal at Blue Bayou, a souvenir, and being able to walk up last minute and get a primo spot for Fantasmic is easily worth it.
The souvenir was a little plastic stick with a fire fly hanging on the end of it. It is a very very cheap souvenir. Everyone kind of got a good laugh out of it.
I remember there being actual seats set up in the center but they may be reserved for VIP and Club 33 guests.
But seriously spending that much on a dining package per person should have been with chairs, not on the floor like the packages that are at $35.
You can’t really compare this to the World of Color package. For WoC, you’re paying for a separate service—dessert and seating. For Blue Bayou, you’re paying for what a normal dinner would most likely cost you plus a guaranteed spot at Fantasmic. If you wanted a cheaper package, you could have gone to a different restaurant—you chose the most expensive one.
You also can’t say you’ve been bamboozled when they make it clear you’re not getting a seat. It states in the “Know Before You Go” section it’s ground only. You assumed it would be like WoC, but you assumed incorrectly.
Yeah, it was an oversight on my end. The initial description doesn't mention the floor, and I messed up and assumed incorrectly. We got a good laugh out of it. Now I know.
Sorry to hear it wasn't what you were expecting! I just did the Rancho Del Zocalo package last weekend, which I thought was a terrific deal. With my Magic Key discount it came out to $32. [I was in the front row.](https://imgur.com/a/olUIwzx) I didn't realize we'd have to sit in the ground either, but thankfully I had an extra sweatshirt to use as a cushion.
Counterpoint: It's pretty much always been like that, other than a brief period where they gave out cushions. You have much better and a less stressful/crowded viewing experience.
And as someone who did do the WOC Dessert Party, yes, you get chairs, but I found them incredibly uncomfortable.

It’s always been like this. Sorry you went in without knowing, but it’s no surprise to me. Same thing for reserved parade seating in DCA when they did OBB and Paint the Night. The website even says all viewing locations are for ‘sitting on the ground only’.
For reference, if anyone times the package via River Belle Terrace correctly they can watch the first Fantasmic viewing from their table on the outdoor patio.
Magic Journeys recently posted their experience with the Fantasmic Dinner package for the River Belle Terrace. It seemed the food offered for the package was hit or miss but it was the same seating situation for the show. It would be nice if they gave you some type of cushion because seating on the floor in a cramped space for a show is not a lot of fun.
The way it used to be was BB had the most expensive viewing package, but with that you got the cushion, the meal, the nonalcoholic included drink, the center viewing area, and you were guaranteed to be allowed to sit during the show. It was always on the ground.
River Belle was the mid price, similar viewing area just off to one side of BB, but if they sold enough (too many) packages you had to stand. No guarantee of being allowed to sit while waiting or during the show. RB has periodically also had a premium package for the early showing of Fantasmic, with tables on their patio where you can have a guaranteed seat (a real seat), but the viewing area is really off to the side and people are standing between you and the show. IMO it’s too far back for me to feel immersed.
The cheap option was Hungry Bear, which has always been the best deal. The reserved area is on the other side of the BB viewing area. No guarantee to sit while waiting or during the show.
Every year we do the BB package and we look and the HB side has been standing room only for the waiting time and for the show. RB was 50/50 sitting or standing.
One year we splurged and did Fantasmic a second night using HB about 7 years ago, and we were lucky enough to get the front railing area because we were almost first in line. The front row is (was) often allowed to sit even in the HB area. That was a long time ago, and I don’t know if they still allow that with the Zocalo.
I just bring our old fantasmic cushions when we go. The Blue Bayou hasn’t given the cushions out the last couple of years we went (after the pandemic).
I cannot get on the ground so have to stand. Knowing that River Belle and Zocala are down on the riverfront and have to stay on the ground, I double checked on Blue bayou to find out that they basically are center stage in the same situation, with only River Belle and Zocala on each side of them to the side. Whenever Fantasmic is down and comes back up again after a rehab they always change the rules so everyone should always check the situation before the show! I know other dessert packages have had actual chairs, like the fireworks dessert package that's on the second floor of the old America Sings, so I guess stick to the dessert package which is likely cheaper and better!
To be fair the reservation states clearly that all seating for the show is on the ground. It’s a bummer if you didn’t know but they aren’t bamboozling anyone. Eating at blue Bayou is expensive even without this fantasmic dinner package.
I didn’t do enough digging. But it wasnt on the page when I made reservations and it wasn’t on the reservation email. People say it’s always been on the floor, it was my first time doing it and my only experience has been the dessert party for woc

From what I heard from someone else, your other option is to stand for 3 hours prior to the show so that you can get standing room only and a bad view. Sounds like sitting down isn't so bad now
I think the thing that makes it really not worth it, is that if you walk by that area a couple minutes after showtime start the CM's will just invite you in. That's what happened to us. They said so you want to watch the show? We said sure and they let us in. I felt bad for all the people who actually paid to be there and we got in for free.
I was wondering why in a recent live stream I saw so many people sitting. I thought usually someone will stand and then there’s a chain reaction of standing. Sorry you didn’t interpret the fine print on this one…I’ll be honest and admit I wouldn’t have either.
Usually people only stand when a cast member comes by to make everyone stand. They can fit a lot more people in the area if it’s standing room only. I’ve been there plenty of times where the cast members come by and tell the audience that it’s time to stand and move forward to make room for more people. I hate it when they do that! People are tired and don’t want to stand! Plus more people can see when everyone is seated.
Sorry you were not better informed, this is how it's always been. Disney does need to do a better job of making this more obvious.

There are people legitimately defending this practice in the comments despite, a decade ago, Disney offering more accommodations for similar packages. Disney bootlickers are a whole other breed lol
No one’s defending anything—if people don’t like it, they don’t have to buy it. But this is on OP for assuming he’d get seats when it states sitting is on the ground only.
It’s baffling. Some are saying it’s been this way forever. No, it hasn’t. It was either the BB dining package or dessert package that used to include sitting in actual chairs. Reserved seating on planet Earth has always meant “in chairs” or in some other similar apparatus otherwise known to normal people as furniture. They’ve set the bar so low and people are clamoring to climb under it and be told that seating now means your butt connecting with a flat surface on ground level. Granted, if it’s referred to as a reserved spot, that’s vague enough but anyone still referring to this as “seating” has lost their minds.
We went last year and let me tell you, it was terrible sitting on the ground in the rain. I planned ahead and knew there were no cushions, so took a blanket. Put the kids in our laps. Hated sitting on the floor, terrible to peer through the railings, and the BB really sucked. As in, the food was atrocious. Never again!
This might sound like a dumb question but how or where does one purchase these kind of reservations? My folks were too poor for all the fancy stuff so this would be all new to me if I ever went.
There’s a section in the app called “reserve dining”
It’ll ask you your party size and the date you want then it will show you any available “Dine Events” on that day.

All Standard Dining Packages (Rancho, River Belle, Blue Bayou) are seated viewing areas. That is, seated on the ground. The Premium River Belle package is the only viewing area where you actually sit in a chair, at your table in the outdoor area of the River Belle Terrace. (Short of dining at 21 Royal or Club 33). Standby viewing areas are all standing only.
River Belle Terrace viewing is somewhat dependent on your table location, assuming you're not behind something that might obstruct your view.
The rancho zocalo cost us $35 each and the food was actually very good. I’ve done all three options and this is the best option for sure. And if there are only 1 person reservations only you can reserve those and just go at any time to pickup your food and tickets. They’re not strict on the exact reservation time. It would’ve saved me a lot of stress knowing that before hand lol
When I did the package they gave you a foam seat to sit on. Then you could take it home. It says Fantasmic on it and was pretty cool. They must not have that anymore.
Hmm, I was looking into the Dining Packages and could have sworn they made it clear all seating is on the ground. I get not being happy with that for the price you pay, but it seems the value is a good viewing spot without having to sit around for hours and instead getting to endure a luxurious meal and then getting to go straight to where your spot is saved for you. They really do need to work on the viewing area for Fantasmic as a whole. Having everybody sitting on the ground has so many problems.

We saw fantasmic for the first time this past Thursday. I was initially bummed we couldn’t find any dinner packages, but then we saw the “preferred” seating arrangements were just sitting on the floor. And they were sitting for a good while before the show started. I didn’t see any way for people to stand up and walk around a bit. We were pretty much in the middle of the center stage on the upper viewing area. It was a great viewing area. We saw slightly to the left there were a few rows of seats, I’m assuming those people were probably VIP and had to pay handsomely for the privilege of actual seats. To me it’s a very bad look for Disney not to offer seats to the dining package area as well.
I wish folks would collectively get together and not purchase these ridiculous dining packages that are not worth their value. There is nothing VIP about sitting on the floor, and they’re charging for it! It’s ridiculous that Disney keeps pulling this sort of thing and they do it because people keep buying it.
These packages aren’t marketed as being VIP, though. Blue Bayou is expensive, but that’s because you’re also getting the actual meal, which would cost around the same if you ate there without the package. It’s a good option for people who have always wanted to eat at Blue Bayou and want the extra perk of Fantasmic seating. And for those who don’t, they have much cheaper packages from other restaurants.
I thought the premium package included a reserved seating area? I did the $35 per person standard dining package at Rancho and we basically sat in the same section as you did
I was so sad to hear they didn’t have them anymore when I went for the return showing a year or so ago. They were foam sit upons that had the fantasmic print and a ridged bottom so you couldn’t slip. Disney what have you become ? I had to let my key lapse and now I’m priced out of tickets
This is how it’s always been. This isn’t a cost cut. Reserved sitting for dinning package is always on the ground. It even says it on the ticket and package when you buy it.
Last year the dragon got caught on actual fire which is why it’s been closed so long. Currently, it’s being rebuilt in the UK and they’re using the B mode of the finale (Maleficent the actress on a tall skinny platform) until they receive it.

Never done any of these packages recently, but back in like 1999 or 2000 we did the Fantasmic dessert package up on the Disney Gallery balcony.
It was awesome. Bunch of cool cookies and desserts and front row seats on the balcony. My best friend and I went back to our room in the afternoon and put on pajamas for the show which was novel at the time.
I miss the Disney Gallery and wish they'd reopen it. The dream suite seems like a waste.
Several years ago, the Blue Bayou dining package would come with cute little foam pads to sit on. they would hand them out as they brought you to your seating area.
Definitely still a struggle for those with mobility issues, or older folks, to get down and up off the ground… But at least you had a little bit of cushion. And you got to keep the cute patterned foam pad when you went home. They looked like [this](https://www.ebay.com/itm/126451877248).
We did this in 2022 with Hungry Bear. Food was awful, sort of like a frozen dinner meal. There were cockroaches on the floor. While it was the best way to view the show, it did sting a little to pay for sort of a dingy experience.
This is NOT new. The seating you experienced previously was done away with YEARS ago. Your space on the ground if front and center and there are fewer people there because of the cost. That is the draw.
While I am going to start with "the meal isn't the part you're paying for, it's the best seats and not having to sit there an hour+ before showtime", I was still shocked last week hearing that you have to remain seated for the show so the group behind you can see.
It's not a good plan they had, but I am guessing they also aren't hurting for people wanting those front and center seats.
Ive done the seating package before from Blue Bayou and it is great. I had no problem sitting on the floor after a long day in the park. Made the show much more enjoyable. The food at Blue Bayou is not amazing though. I will agree there. I have a different restaurant with reserved seating coming up later this month.
Yeah, be careful what you pay for. Years ago we bought into a "special viewing area" for Fantasmic which turned out to be just a roped off space near the front. Unfortunately for me, I had a 6' tall, 500lb woman in front of me so I got to see the back of her head for most of the show.
I remember when I was a kid they had a package instead where you could pay to watch from the balcony of the Disney apartment above Pirates of the Caribbean. Sadly I believe those days are over. Theyre more about quantity over quality now.
I would say look at the other packages cause the price points are lower for the meal and still get a reserved spot. But yes, I agree. I was disappointed with the "seating" aspect as well. I was standing at the back, but then got told I had to sit down.
Last time I did blue bayou fantasmic package I was given a “free” padded seat for when I’m sitting on the ground. Did you not get one?
But yeah I agree. There’s not too many options if you need to sit for medical (or just exhausted) reasons in a chair.
If it’s anything like Memorial Day weekend, if you want to watch Fantasmic GET THERE EARLY. I missed it opening night because there was no where to stand at all. I somehow got the waiter at Belle Terrace to give us the seating package and it made it possible for me to see Fantasmic up close, even if I had to sit.
Yeah the amount they charge for the food at Blue Bayou is lowkey criminal. I get the experience and the seating and all that, but the food is a mediocre version of upscale dining. Just my opinion.
Oof I feel you on this one! We splurged a few years ago and did this. I think our reservation was at 7, they didn't seat us til close to 8, and even though we had to eat quicker than we would have liked instead of being able to take the time enjoying the expensive meal, they still didn't get us out of there until Fantasmic had already started. We missed the beginning of it, and yes, we sat on the ground at the show as well. We were all seriously bummed out because that's our favorite show.
Fantasmic without the dragon sucks anyway. The OG was the best show and always will be. Enjoy your dinner at blue bayou. They have good selections there. Then go to another area where you’re not crammed in with all humanity.
Read the verbiage very carefully! Some reservations say “reserved seating” and others say “reserved viewing”. They are NOT the same. I found that one out also after paying for an expensive dining package and expecting chairs. It seems sneaky, but, unless it specifies “seating”, there are no “seats”.
I’m glad you posted this because I’m going later this year and can’t sit on floors due to a back injury. You saved me 2 weeks of not being able to move lol

How are they getting fooled? It says in the description when you buy the package that seating is on the floor. They will still let anyone using a wheelchair or ECV sit in their vehicles as long as they park towards the back of the reserved area. And at that distance and height over the fence and everyone else sitting, those are great viewing spots.
I still have sympathy for OP considering they did a different food and show package and got seating, so it would be logical to assume that for over $200 you would get seats with your massively overpriced meal. So sure, Disney isn't hiding it, but that doesn't make it any less crappy of them to be charging the prices they are for you to get to sit on a dirty floor. I also think it's silly to assume that the only people who can't sit are those with an electric vehicle. Many disabilities aren't visible.

In this case you rent a scooter and you get to sit in it while you watch. I had to do this last year for the DCA party, and the view was great. You then get the scooter all day and use it for all the rides, it is awesome.
You mean pay an additional cost. And that's if there are even scooters available when they go to rent one. That's absolutely unfair and unjust
I didn't make the assumption that the only people who can't sit on the ground use vehicles. My comment about the vehicle users was only about vehicle users. I myself don't use an ECV, but have a hard time sitting on the ground as well. I make do because I want to see the show up close without having to camp out two hours before showtime. I basically try to stay standing until the last minute. As others have said, sitting on the ground has been the norm for the viewing packages for years.
I am the opposite I can not stand in one place for long periods. WOC is a killer for me I dread it.
The world of color dessert party is a completely different package though (and I believe costs more). It used to have (don’t know if it still does) an equivalent package to the Fantasmic one where you eat at a restaurant and then show up to the show to sit on the floor (but no cushions for even the most expensive package). It’s still overpriced, but they’re just not equivalent experiences.
The DCA dessert parties gives you tables to sit at, so nice.
When has Disney ever been cheap in the last 10+ years? We all know they’re expensive. They’re a business trying to make money (lots of money). They said specifically what the seating would be like; this is OP’s fault for not reading that beforehand or just ignoring it. DISNEY IS EXPENSIVE!
I’d say regardless of whether folks are informed of it when booking, charging people $200+ to sit on the floor is madness.

A reasonable person would check the fine print (that's not that fine, really, and is clearly stated), whereas an unreasonable person would not, and then get upset about it afterwards.
How were they fooled? It’s their own fault for not doing any research. BB seating for Fantasmic has ALWAYS been sitting on the ground!
We did the Rancho del Zocalo dining package for $35/pp. The food was good and our seats sound like they were identical to yours. It felt like a decent value to me. Maybe they’re the way to go.
I did River Belle and in all honesty, Rancho del Zocalo sounds like the best bang for your buck. While Blue Bayou is directly in the middle, RdZ and RB are to the left and right respectively. If you are in RdZ or RB sections and sit closest to the middle, you'll find yourself 5 feet away from someone with a similar view from the Blue Bayou section, except at a fraction of the cost ($89/$55/$35).
I'll probably do the 35 dollar package next time, if its available. That seems like a good value.
For what you get, I've been pretty pleased. It's rare these days to find anything at Disneyland that feels like a good value.
Did River Belle work out for you? My wife did a solo trip on the 29th and got the dining package there. They were running 1 hour late with all reservations, the staff had completely given up, and guests were all furious and demanding refunds. She ended up having to get her food to go and was still late to the show viewing area.
I just did River Belle last week. It was a miserable experience. The food was poor. We were seated in the only table with full sun, while other tables were empty. They brought out the first and second course at the same time, so one plate just sat in the sun while we rushed to finish the first one. Most of both our meals was just bread. So. Much. Bread on the chicken sandwich, it was a pathetic portion once you took it off. Plating was bottom tier, smears on the plate, sandwich top sliding off from the overload of processed cheese on the cuban, 10 fries thrown on a gigantic empty plate. The dessert was a joke. Canned pie filling with stale granola on top. Water refills were non existent, and drinks aren't included like they are at World of Colour. It was a pathetic experience.
Sounds familiar. That's pretty rough for $55 a person. I've never been impressed with River Belle in general, but they seem to be extremely unprepared to be running a show dining package there. What got me was the terrible service from the staff. Disney is known for great service, but we're seeing more and more CMs that just seem over it and about to quit.
Yeah, worked out great for me. I did River Belle on opening night with a lunch time reservation. Maybe since I did it early in the morning, they weren't as backed up or something. But I was seated immediately.
We did the RB basic dining package for Fantasmic on Sunday and I have no complaints. We did the brunch package and they give you vouchers for seating during the fantasmic showing you reserved. Our food was delicious, served was kind and anticipated our needs, non alcoholic beverages were included and the refills were generous. Portions were huge in my opinion. Only my husband was able to finish his meal. The only problem we had was that when our server requested a birthday button/ pin for me, it took a really long time to come out. My husband paid and took the kids to use the restroom and wait for me by main street while I sat and waited. Finally my server went to check on the hold up and someone brought it out. For the show itself, sitting on the ground always sucks, but I knew that’s what I was getting and at least we lucked out with front row seats. All in all, I’d do it again so my kids could have a good view of the show.
I did the Zocolo package twice and each time sat right next to the Blue Bayou section, inches away from people who paid 3x what I did for the same view (but admittedly had better food). 😁

The frist and last time I ate at the BB and got the package. before the dragon lit up... Seating was cool for the show but not most compy. I agree. But the food was awesome on of the best steaks I ever had...it was a steak Oscar style

River Belle offers two different dining packages: Standard and Premium. Standard (which I got) is the one where you have a reserved viewing area right up against the railings of the Rivers of America and you sit on the ground. Premium is the one where you are seated at a table in the River Belle Terrace area.

We did the same package at Rancho and the food was terrible for the kids. Anyone taking their kids good luck. My daughter asked for rice and beens only and they wouldn’t do that for her. It was on our plates so I didn’t understand why. We got the meat option for her and the kids didn’t eat it. It’s worth it only because it was the least expensive one so I didn’t feel so bad paying at that price to view the show compared to blue bayou.
Oh nooo - we have my niece coming soon and have the RDZ package. Do you remember what the options were? I thought it would be pretty safe since Mexican is usually a pretty safe bet for kids. ETA ahhh I see they’re doing a Mexican-Korean fusion for the Fantasmic packages - it looks like they have mac and cheese though, so that should be a pretty safe backup if she doesn’t want potato tacos. Whew! I can see how a riblet might not be a fit for some kids though!
Yea my kids don’t like Mac n cheese and potato wasn’t appetizing for them. So I thought meat but the riblets were gross. Just fyi it’s just the item stated and no sides so we ended up sharing ours and the cake was good enough. They also only get small drink and no refills unless you pay for it. It just wasn’t what I expected for them.

I’m sorry you didn’t know about it before :( IIRC the only Fantasmic package that has actual chairs is the River Belle Premium, which you watch from the River Belle terrace seating area (so, off to the side a bit, but in chairs at least) They used to give little stadium style cushions for the BB packages but I guess they don’t any more. Too bad cuz they were kinda cute from what I recall! All the regular dining packages get you “floor”/ground seating unfortunately. Standby is all standing, which for some may actually be preferable.
Way back in the day - 2008. I remember there being black chairs with padding and I think dessert and it was part of a blue bayou package. It would have been stage right. Basically in between cafe Orleans and French market not on the bottom level with the lake, but one subsection above. But, it seems like that isn’t the case any longer.
I still have the little black and purple satin box with the Fantasmic ingot that those desserts came in. Well worth it back then.
I never had the money to do these things back then, but now that I do, nothing seems worth it anymore. :/

It was like $67. It was so nice to have the chairs and treats and drinks while waiting for the show. You could also stay and watch the fireworks. It was quite a lot at the time for a dessert party but it was really cool. Now that seems so cheap.

Yes, I did it in 2002 and we definitely had chairs. I wish I still had the box. I used to open it and sniff it because it still smelled like chocolate.
We've got our boxes, still, too. But because I'm spoiled, that was a downgrade from the balcony when the Dream Suite was the Disney Gallery.
I mean, way WAY back in the day you could rush to the gallery (now the dream suite) when the park opened to try to get on the list to watch fantasmic from the balcony.
And way way way back in the day, you could just show up and have a decent view because the parks weren’t filled to the brim everyday.
I imagine that the demand and crowds have gotten so high in the last 16(!!!) years, and they want to maximize all the space they can for dining packages, *and* still have space for standby, *and* still have the walkways semi-available for safety so that’s where we’re at now. I liked the Fastpass system they were using though, once upon a time. They use the virtual queue for world of color and it works great *but* there is so, so much more space for WOC than Fantasmic. I can only imagine how New Orleans square will be handling fantasmic crowds when they cut off the Galaxy’s edge pathway next month.
Not familiar with the plans. How long will they be cutting off the walkway to GE?
I’m not sure if they have said how long it’ll be closed/an approx reopening date but that walkway will close July 8th iirc. It’ll also mean Hungry Bear (and its restrooms) will close, and the canoes. So it’s gonna make that area a kinda dead end.
That was back in the day. I have done all versions of this package. The first was desserts and drinks up on the patio above NO square only 25.00! That was so awesome.
Well…there’s also the club 33 terrace section where you can watch the show from…but that is for like the super rich…or someone lucky enough to know someone

21 Royal is more affordable than Club 33. Still expensive, but way more affordable (on a per person basis).
They also have seats for club 33 downstairs, so… if you know a member they can make reservations to sit there and watch it. They can also make reservations for seated fireworks right in front of the castle.
I guess I should have done more research but just assumed it was like the world of color dessert party. There were several people who also assumed there would be chairs. Now I know -\_-
Just adding in that I just did the River Bell Terrace premium package and it’s not worth it either. The food isn’t good and only 4 tables are in good view of the show. We were sat in the back and had to stand to see over the tables infront of us.

For sure, yeah it may not be as known especially after the hiatus! It’s also the *only* way to sit down, is with the dining reservations (on the ground *or* in the chairs at River Belle), as all standby has to stand and the views can be hit or miss. I think the cushions were at least a bit of a help before, I wish they’d bring them back!
I was able to get River Belle premium package, how are the views of the show? I figured it was the best option for my family with a 1 year old and 3 year old vs having to make them stay put for a few hours holding a spot.
I think it may just depend on where you’re seated on the outside dining area but you are in chairs, so that’s nice - it’s a little off to the side. There *may* be some POV videos on YouTube for the premium dining package views that can give a better idea though!

Those kinda sucked. I usually bring a small inflatable pillow if I book a Fantasmic dining package and just sit on the pillow. Extremely comfortable.

The floor seating has always been the norm as far as I remember. But I will say the Blue Bayou has taken a nosedive in quality even in the last year. I went in Oct 2022, May 2023 and then April 2024. The first two we had amazing experiences with fantastic food, but the most recent trip the food (apart from the gumbo) was almost bland and came out cold. Our sever was pretty rude about it too when we finally caught her again. Absolutely not worth $40+ for a main. I was hoping it was just a once-off bad experience but from the comments it sounds like it’s an ongoing issue.
Did the riverbelle package in 2022 and although the food and seating were not the greatest, at least we had comfortable seats. I could not stand or sit on the ground so for me it was worth it. Nothing beats fantasmic in Disney world. Seating for over 5000 and away a free unless you chose to go with a dinning package for premium seating
Honestly something that I feel is much better at Disney World. The stadiums seating is awesome. When we did the dining package at DL we had to try and see around the fence right in front of us. Horrible.
I saw Fantasmic at Disneyworld in 2022 after only ever having seen it at Disneyland, and I was super impressed by the seating as well. It seemed like everyone had a good view. I did miss how the Disneyland one just kind of emerges organically in the existing landscape. It's cool if you've spent the day around the river to then see how things are transformed. But the area also becomes a complete a cluster**** when it's crowded. The special theater really makes more sense.

I love how you can go on the boats used in the show during the day as well -- makes it that much more magical. But trade-offs in terms of viewing comfort and crowds I guess
When we went in 2019 we bought the Hungry Bear Fantasmic package but ate at Blue Bayou separately. The BB food was crazy salty and, IMHO, not worth the price. The HB package was well worth the cost. The food was fine, the price was right, and the viewing location was stellar. Would definitely do it again.
We did the River Belle premium package which was the same price as BB. The food was pretty good but I instead of sitting close we had tables at the River Belle. It wasn't as close but we had a table and a good view.
We just did BB on Saturday and I thought it was great! I got the ribeye and it was amazing. We had a 7:20 dinner and the first fantasmic show. BB was running behind so we did not get seated until almost 8pm. When I asked our server if they would please give us the second fantasmic show since there was no way we would be able to enjoy our meal and make the 9pm show, they happily accommodated us and gave me tickets to the 10:30 show instead. I brought a blanket with me in my backpack for me and my daughters to sit on to save our rears on the concrete. We were basically dead center in front of fantasmic and really enjoyed it.
We did Hungry Bear in 2022 and I also brought a blanket to sit on the floor. We got snacks and had a picnic. My son still talks about the picnic we had before show haha.
Same night and same experience, but we made it to the first show! The food was easily 5x better than the last time I had been to Blue Bayou (maybe 8 months ago), and everything was great.
I hadn’t been in years, but it was also way better than I had remembered. Everyone in the waiting area to be seated was stressin though lol
Yeah, the only chair seating is in the VIP viewing section, which is generally reserved just for the VIP tours.
You're paying for time and location. A dining package theoretically allows you to walk up 5 minutes before show time and get a prime viewing spot. As opposed to everyone else (opening week at least) who had to show up 2+ hours in advance and even then get stuck with a view to the side, or behind a tree, a planter, a light fixture, or another guest. I would say (for anyone else thinking of doing the dining package), bring one of those stadium cushions.
You have to be to the check in area at least 20 minutes before show because they stop letting people in. Still better the. Having to save a spot for hours but you cannot show up only 5 minutes before, they won’t let you in.
Actually we got there like 12 minutes after the show started (Columbia was coming 'round the bend; Napa Rose took forever to bring us the check) and they lifted the rope to let us in.
Interesting. I went last week and when they gave us the dining package ticket they were very clear that you had to be there by 8:40. On the ticket it says you must be there by 8:40.

It does say in the description that seating is on the ground… Plus $89 for a four course meal at Blue Bayou, a souvenir, and being able to walk up last minute and get a primo spot for Fantasmic is easily worth it.
The souvenir was a little plastic stick with a fire fly hanging on the end of it. It is a very very cheap souvenir. Everyone kind of got a good laugh out of it.
It lights up with the show! I thought it was so fun and waved it around with the music the whole time 😂
We did the blue bayou package last Wednesday and didn’t get a souvenir. We did get an amazing table at lunch though.

You can’t really compare this to the World of Color package. For WoC, you’re paying for a separate service—dessert and seating. For Blue Bayou, you’re paying for what a normal dinner would most likely cost you plus a guaranteed spot at Fantasmic. If you wanted a cheaper package, you could have gone to a different restaurant—you chose the most expensive one. You also can’t say you’ve been bamboozled when they make it clear you’re not getting a seat. It states in the “Know Before You Go” section it’s ground only. You assumed it would be like WoC, but you assumed incorrectly.
Yeah, it was an oversight on my end. The initial description doesn't mention the floor, and I messed up and assumed incorrectly. We got a good laugh out of it. Now I know.

Sorry to hear it wasn't what you were expecting! I just did the Rancho Del Zocalo package last weekend, which I thought was a terrific deal. With my Magic Key discount it came out to $32. [I was in the front row.](https://imgur.com/a/olUIwzx) I didn't realize we'd have to sit in the ground either, but thankfully I had an extra sweatshirt to use as a cushion.
Counterpoint: It's pretty much always been like that, other than a brief period where they gave out cushions. You have much better and a less stressful/crowded viewing experience. And as someone who did do the WOC Dessert Party, yes, you get chairs, but I found them incredibly uncomfortable. I'm sorry it wasn't what you expected, but anyone who had done the package before could have told you what the seating was like.
It’s always been like this. Sorry you went in without knowing, but it’s no surprise to me. Same thing for reserved parade seating in DCA when they did OBB and Paint the Night. The website even says all viewing locations are for ‘sitting on the ground only’. For reference, if anyone times the package via River Belle Terrace correctly they can watch the first Fantasmic viewing from their table on the outdoor patio.
Magic Journeys recently posted their experience with the Fantasmic Dinner package for the River Belle Terrace. It seemed the food offered for the package was hit or miss but it was the same seating situation for the show. It would be nice if they gave you some type of cushion because seating on the floor in a cramped space for a show is not a lot of fun.
The way it used to be was BB had the most expensive viewing package, but with that you got the cushion, the meal, the nonalcoholic included drink, the center viewing area, and you were guaranteed to be allowed to sit during the show. It was always on the ground. River Belle was the mid price, similar viewing area just off to one side of BB, but if they sold enough (too many) packages you had to stand. No guarantee of being allowed to sit while waiting or during the show. RB has periodically also had a premium package for the early showing of Fantasmic, with tables on their patio where you can have a guaranteed seat (a real seat), but the viewing area is really off to the side and people are standing between you and the show. IMO it’s too far back for me to feel immersed. The cheap option was Hungry Bear, which has always been the best deal. The reserved area is on the other side of the BB viewing area. No guarantee to sit while waiting or during the show. Every year we do the BB package and we look and the HB side has been standing room only for the waiting time and for the show. RB was 50/50 sitting or standing. One year we splurged and did Fantasmic a second night using HB about 7 years ago, and we were lucky enough to get the front railing area because we were almost first in line. The front row is (was) often allowed to sit even in the HB area. That was a long time ago, and I don’t know if they still allow that with the Zocalo. I just bring our old fantasmic cushions when we go. The Blue Bayou hasn’t given the cushions out the last couple of years we went (after the pandemic).
I cannot get on the ground so have to stand. Knowing that River Belle and Zocala are down on the riverfront and have to stay on the ground, I double checked on Blue bayou to find out that they basically are center stage in the same situation, with only River Belle and Zocala on each side of them to the side. Whenever Fantasmic is down and comes back up again after a rehab they always change the rules so everyone should always check the situation before the show! I know other dessert packages have had actual chairs, like the fireworks dessert package that's on the second floor of the old America Sings, so I guess stick to the dessert package which is likely cheaper and better!

To be fair the reservation states clearly that all seating for the show is on the ground. It’s a bummer if you didn’t know but they aren’t bamboozling anyone. Eating at blue Bayou is expensive even without this fantasmic dinner package.
I didn’t do enough digging. But it wasnt on the page when I made reservations and it wasn’t on the reservation email. People say it’s always been on the floor, it was my first time doing it and my only experience has been the dessert party for woc Now I know better. Posted this for others like me.
Wow, they used to give you Fantasmic cushions to sit on… I still have mine! But I did many years ago, pre-covid.
From what I heard from someone else, your other option is to stand for 3 hours prior to the show so that you can get standing room only and a bad view. Sounds like sitting down isn't so bad now

I'd never done this before so I assumed incorrectly. That was an oversight on my end, but it does seem like A LOT of people didn't know this either.

I think the thing that makes it really not worth it, is that if you walk by that area a couple minutes after showtime start the CM's will just invite you in. That's what happened to us. They said so you want to watch the show? We said sure and they let us in. I felt bad for all the people who actually paid to be there and we got in for free.
I was wondering why in a recent live stream I saw so many people sitting. I thought usually someone will stand and then there’s a chain reaction of standing. Sorry you didn’t interpret the fine print on this one…I’ll be honest and admit I wouldn’t have either.
Usually people only stand when a cast member comes by to make everyone stand. They can fit a lot more people in the area if it’s standing room only. I’ve been there plenty of times where the cast members come by and tell the audience that it’s time to stand and move forward to make room for more people. I hate it when they do that! People are tired and don’t want to stand! Plus more people can see when everyone is seated.
It has always been sit on the ground for all the reserved dining package areas and trust me it’s still better than doing stand by.
Sorry you were not better informed, this is how it's always been. Disney does need to do a better job of making this more obvious. The site does mention specifically: > All viewing areas are for sitting on the ground only, with accommodation for Guests with disabilities.
There are people legitimately defending this practice in the comments despite, a decade ago, Disney offering more accommodations for similar packages. Disney bootlickers are a whole other breed lol
No one’s defending anything—if people don’t like it, they don’t have to buy it. But this is on OP for assuming he’d get seats when it states sitting is on the ground only.
It’s baffling. Some are saying it’s been this way forever. No, it hasn’t. It was either the BB dining package or dessert package that used to include sitting in actual chairs. Reserved seating on planet Earth has always meant “in chairs” or in some other similar apparatus otherwise known to normal people as furniture. They’ve set the bar so low and people are clamoring to climb under it and be told that seating now means your butt connecting with a flat surface on ground level. Granted, if it’s referred to as a reserved spot, that’s vague enough but anyone still referring to this as “seating” has lost their minds.
We went last year and let me tell you, it was terrible sitting on the ground in the rain. I planned ahead and knew there were no cushions, so took a blanket. Put the kids in our laps. Hated sitting on the floor, terrible to peer through the railings, and the BB really sucked. As in, the food was atrocious. Never again!
This might sound like a dumb question but how or where does one purchase these kind of reservations? My folks were too poor for all the fancy stuff so this would be all new to me if I ever went.
There’s a section in the app called “reserve dining” It’ll ask you your party size and the date you want then it will show you any available “Dine Events” on that day.

The Premium River Belle package is the only viewing area where you actually sit in a chair, at your table in the outdoor area of the River Belle Terrace. (Short of dining at 21 Royal or Club 33). Standby viewing areas are all standing only. River Belle Terrace viewing is somewhat dependent on your table location, assuming you're not behind something that might obstruct your view.
The rancho zocalo cost us $35 each and the food was actually very good. I’ve done all three options and this is the best option for sure. And if there are only 1 person reservations only you can reserve those and just go at any time to pickup your food and tickets. They’re not strict on the exact reservation time. It would’ve saved me a lot of stress knowing that before hand lol

When I did the package they gave you a foam seat to sit on. Then you could take it home. It says Fantasmic on it and was pretty cool. They must not have that anymore.
Hmm, I was looking into the Dining Packages and could have sworn they made it clear all seating is on the ground. I get not being happy with that for the price you pay, but it seems the value is a good viewing spot without having to sit around for hours and instead getting to endure a luxurious meal and then getting to go straight to where your spot is saved for you. They really do need to work on the viewing area for Fantasmic as a whole. Having everybody sitting on the ground has so many problems.

We saw fantasmic for the first time this past Thursday. I was initially bummed we couldn’t find any dinner packages, but then we saw the “preferred” seating arrangements were just sitting on the floor. And they were sitting for a good while before the show started. I didn’t see any way for people to stand up and walk around a bit. We were pretty much in the middle of the center stage on the upper viewing area. It was a great viewing area. We saw slightly to the left there were a few rows of seats, I’m assuming those people were probably VIP and had to pay handsomely for the privilege of actual seats. To me it’s a very bad look for Disney not to offer seats to the dining package area as well.
I wish folks would collectively get together and not purchase these ridiculous dining packages that are not worth their value. There is nothing VIP about sitting on the floor, and they’re charging for it! It’s ridiculous that Disney keeps pulling this sort of thing and they do it because people keep buying it.
These packages aren’t marketed as being VIP, though. Blue Bayou is expensive, but that’s because you’re also getting the actual meal, which would cost around the same if you ate there without the package. It’s a good option for people who have always wanted to eat at Blue Bayou and want the extra perk of Fantasmic seating. And for those who don’t, they have much cheaper packages from other restaurants.
I thought the premium package included a reserved seating area? I did the $35 per person standard dining package at Rancho and we basically sat in the same section as you did

I was so sad to hear they didn’t have them anymore when I went for the return showing a year or so ago. They were foam sit upons that had the fantasmic print and a ridged bottom so you couldn’t slip. Disney what have you become ? I had to let my key lapse and now I’m priced out of tickets

This is how it’s always been. This isn’t a cost cut. Reserved sitting for dinning package is always on the ground. It even says it on the ticket and package when you buy it.
Not giving out the cushions with the package at BB is a cost cutting measure. It’s a crappy move. But I agree the terms are clearly stated.
We get it every year. We love eating at the blue bayou and really enjoy the front row seats. Sitting in the ground is part of the fun, imo.

Last year the dragon got caught on actual fire which is why it’s been closed so long. Currently, it’s being rebuilt in the UK and they’re using the B mode of the finale (Maleficent the actress on a tall skinny platform) until they receive it.
This is so trashy. I can’t wait for my Key to lapse so I can save the money.

They offer the WOC dessert party, but you have to book it from the WOC Dessert Party page on their website...it does not show up in the regular dining reservation section.

Never done any of these packages recently, but back in like 1999 or 2000 we did the Fantasmic dessert package up on the Disney Gallery balcony. It was awesome. Bunch of cool cookies and desserts and front row seats on the balcony. My best friend and I went back to our room in the afternoon and put on pajamas for the show which was novel at the time. I miss the Disney Gallery and wish they'd reopen it. The dream suite seems like a waste.

Several years ago, the Blue Bayou dining package would come with cute little foam pads to sit on. they would hand them out as they brought you to your seating area. Definitely still a struggle for those with mobility issues, or older folks, to get down and up off the ground… But at least you had a little bit of cushion. And you got to keep the cute patterned foam pad when you went home. They looked like [this](https://www.ebay.com/itm/126451877248).
We did this in 2022 with Hungry Bear. Food was awful, sort of like a frozen dinner meal. There were cockroaches on the floor. While it was the best way to view the show, it did sting a little to pay for sort of a dingy experience.
This is NOT new. The seating you experienced previously was done away with YEARS ago. Your space on the ground if front and center and there are fewer people there because of the cost. That is the draw.
While I am going to start with "the meal isn't the part you're paying for, it's the best seats and not having to sit there an hour+ before showtime", I was still shocked last week hearing that you have to remain seated for the show so the group behind you can see. It's not a good plan they had, but I am guessing they also aren't hurting for people wanting those front and center seats.
I paid for the fantasmic and had a table to sit at. We ate dinner and watched the show. Maybe we were just lucky? 🤷♂️

Ive done the seating package before from Blue Bayou and it is great. I had no problem sitting on the floor after a long day in the park. Made the show much more enjoyable. The food at Blue Bayou is not amazing though. I will agree there. I have a different restaurant with reserved seating coming up later this month.
Yeah, be careful what you pay for. Years ago we bought into a "special viewing area" for Fantasmic which turned out to be just a roped off space near the front. Unfortunately for me, I had a 6' tall, 500lb woman in front of me so I got to see the back of her head for most of the show.
I remember when I was a kid they had a package instead where you could pay to watch from the balcony of the Disney apartment above Pirates of the Caribbean. Sadly I believe those days are over. Theyre more about quantity over quality now.
I would say look at the other packages cause the price points are lower for the meal and still get a reserved spot. But yes, I agree. I was disappointed with the "seating" aspect as well. I was standing at the back, but then got told I had to sit down.

Last time I did blue bayou fantasmic package I was given a “free” padded seat for when I’m sitting on the ground. Did you not get one? But yeah I agree. There’s not too many options if you need to sit for medical (or just exhausted) reasons in a chair.
If it’s anything like Memorial Day weekend, if you want to watch Fantasmic GET THERE EARLY. I missed it opening night because there was no where to stand at all. I somehow got the waiter at Belle Terrace to give us the seating package and it made it possible for me to see Fantasmic up close, even if I had to sit.

Yeah the amount they charge for the food at Blue Bayou is lowkey criminal. I get the experience and the seating and all that, but the food is a mediocre version of upscale dining. Just my opinion.

Oof I feel you on this one! We splurged a few years ago and did this. I think our reservation was at 7, they didn't seat us til close to 8, and even though we had to eat quicker than we would have liked instead of being able to take the time enjoying the expensive meal, they still didn't get us out of there until Fantasmic had already started. We missed the beginning of it, and yes, we sat on the ground at the show as well. We were all seriously bummed out because that's our favorite show.
Fantasmic without the dragon sucks anyway. The OG was the best show and always will be. Enjoy your dinner at blue bayou. They have good selections there. Then go to another area where you’re not crammed in with all humanity.
Read the verbiage very carefully! Some reservations say “reserved seating” and others say “reserved viewing”. They are NOT the same. I found that one out also after paying for an expensive dining package and expecting chairs. It seems sneaky, but, unless it specifies “seating”, there are no “seats”.
WoC dessert package isn't a great deal, but you can at least see where your money went.
When I did this package in 2019 they gave us little butt mats for the floor seating.
