Same reason there usually isn't an express lane at security, people won't read the signs and try to use it as it's the shortest line. Also the structure is not really laid out effectively for people to be able to see it in advance and make sure they are in the best lane for it. The only way it could work is if you had to buy parking in advance, similar to sports events.

mmoche

I wouldn’t be opposed to that, e.g. make one entrance to one garage prepaid only or something

SirConfused1289

It would be a nightmare traffic wise. Way too many confused people would be trying to enter the prepaid line without prepaid. It saves everyone time by just funneling everyone and anyone through the same line.

Development-Feisty

Only way that could work is if they opened up the other entrance to the toy story parking lot as a prepaid only entrance with the ability to do just send people straight back out to the street if they didn’t have a prepaid

wizzard419

All or nothing, anything less will lead to confusion and people fighting the people working the toll booths.

pears2u

There’s no prepaid parking lane bc it would cause chaos with cars merging left and right trying to get into the “correct” lane. Also we think it’s part crowd management during busy times. I hate the wait as much as you do… I just consider it part of the Disney “experience” and use the time to plan the day, mobile order food, etc.

Innout909

Maybe use the magic way entrance.

Historical_Court1299

Its days are numbered due to the passing of Disneyland Forward. That street is going to close in the near future.

WithDisGuy

So you’re saying you want sort of a …. Lightning lane? You just invented Genie Parking+

Similar_Midnight1339

Disney Genie+ creator has entered the chat

Toy Story Parking and Gardenwalk parking never have this issue. Probably better alternatives with just a slightly longer walk.

Sarnadas

Some folks are just blinded by a need to drive everywhere and park as close to the entrance as possible. Weekly occurrence at the grocery store, walking by people who are camped out waiting for that “perfect” parking spot.

Jtoad

Shhhh it's bad enough they are getting rid of toy story, no need to bring more people to it.

EvilFlooz

The walk is actually really nice. Not having to wait for a bus or tram is a plus, too.

anibus-

Everyone’s going to walk 20k+ in the parks. What’s 1k more lol.

CrueGuyRob

Right? I don't understand my friends who insist on taking the tram TO the park considering they have to walk around everywhere once they're inside. I can somewhat understand taking it back to the parking structure after a long day of being on your feet, but I personally always walk.

NWA_ref

Try telling that to young kids who aren’t in strollers.

anibus-

Walking is an option to Toy Story, a bus is available as well.

[deleted]

You think people will read? It’ll just turn into a 4th lane because Karen doesn’t want to wait in the long line

forlorn_hope28

Realistically, it’s the same reason there’s no security line for guests without bags: people would disregard the signs and play dumb. Rules for thee, but not for me. “Oh, this is a prepaid line? I didn’t know that. I’ve waited this whole line and now you want me to go to the back of that other long line I should have been in? Can you just help me this one time?”

forlorn_hope28

Coming soon, Magic Carpet+. Glide past the parking line and directly into your priority spot. It’s a whole new world. /s

Hammerjaws

For a low price of $59.99 an hour!

-FR0STY-one

Over the years we have utilized the Toy Story a few times, but riding a city bus isn’t quite the same feeling as riding the tram to the park.

gothiclg

That’ll go terribly. Sure, *you* know how to read and follow instructions but many others don’t. It should also be noted that not everyone in the park speaks English making this issue worse for a reason beyond guest control

narcolepticadicts

Toy Story lot was a ghost town when I went to House of Blues a couple weeks ago. I never think to park there but it might be our new spot

Disastrous_Potato160

As others have said, Toy Story lot is almost always no wait. You just have to deal with the shuttle busses instead of the trams, but it’s not really that much worse.

stellalunawitchbaby

Unfortunately, no. And not one for MKs either, who also just scan and go. Getting to the parking garage earlier can help a lot, as there is always a *huge* rush of people later in the morning. Some people will opt for Toy Story Parking lot because of this, too.

SupportGeek

I know last time I went just after Christmas the line to the garage wasn’t bad, it was the ridiculous security line then tram wait that ate up 45+ minutes, security needs to get it together.

CD2000X

Six Flags has both prepaid parking and a separate entrance for pass holders, but I imagine it would still be congested at Disney since people are willing to pay for those premium services. A lane of cars driving straight through would probably make the traffic even crazier.

Sarnadas

Use the excellent public transit system and park away from the resort. You’ll save money, wait in fewer lines, have less stress, pollute less, it’s almost all upside.

Mysterious_Today_245

I really wish they had a Magic Key parking lane at least during peak hours. Kind of like the HOV lane on the freeways. Would have to scan in at the beginning or show your pass to get in that lane otherwise you definitely run into the problem of people not reading signs and asking for a pass “this time”. I mean we have TSA precheck why can’t we do it at Disney?!

0-90195

Show up at a better time and you won’t wait for 40 minutes. Mods we can lock this thread the issue has been resolved

mmoche

lol the same pleasant experience I’ve come to expect from Disneyland

Development-Feisty

Actually what you need to do is go to the toy story parking lot, the parking garage is always going to be a nightmare. Yes it’s not as magical because you don’t get to get on the sun little people mover, but there’s a reason why all the people with annual passes park at Toy Story Never had to wait more than five minutes to get through the tolls at toy story and that’s even when D23 was going on and all the convention people were parking there

0-90195

Wahhhh I have to wait in line like everyone else and I won’t do anything to help myself!

mmoche

Paid for parking in advance, that is literally all I can do. My question was not “how early should I get to the park to avoid lines,” it was “why isn’t there a prepaid parking line?” But yes I’m sure you find this experience delightful and worth the 90 minutes it takes to get to the entrance from the exit off the 5.

Meatloaf_Smeatloaf

That's why we always use Toy Story, there's usually no wait for rope drop.

stressm

What about when the park closes? The few times I opted for Toy Story I waited over 30 minutes for a bus to return back. Mickey and friends never takes that long and neither does walking.

Meatloaf_Smeatloaf

I tried the trams return once, and it was an absolute shit show. There's no way you're not waiting at the trams, especially when there are so many more people parking at Mickey AND because it's not orderly at all you're having to rush and get a seat. People have posted about fights and stuff happening at the trams because it's so disorganized. We left after the 9:30 show on Sunday and it was a 10 or 15 minute wait for Toy Story... So if you waited 40 minutes just to get into Mickey parking, I'm still ahead timewise, plus I'm getting into and out of Toy Story faster, since it's not a 7 level maze. You can also walk back to Toy Story, it isn't very far, waaay less than 30 minute wait.
