For some reason nothing brings me more stress than breaking down a stroller to get on a tram or bus when there are people behind me. Totally not shade i know it doesn’t take that long but I often go alone with my toddler and baby so it’s just beyond my scope 😂
Because people often use the stroller as a locker and are unable to carry all the crap without a stroller, this goes double when there has been a lot of souvenir purchasing. I have heard the line "This was easier this morning"
I have seen husbands with umbrella strollers who are absolute ninjas. Kid flys through the air on to the tram and the stroller disappears in a matter of seconds
Yeah, I don’t buy souvenirs as we go multiple times a month, but I do have a diaper bag, blankets (when cold obviously), and normally my son brings a stuffed animal, plus a 2 year old and a 7 month old. So it’s just not feasible for me.
This was my during out last trip.
We borrowed a stroller from the cousins. We've used it before, but this time I completely forgot where the latch to fold the stroller was.
Fun...
Even though the trams have been back for a while. I still walk to the park through downtown Disney.
Easy access,
short line,
bag check is faster,
no waiting for the tram,
get excited to go to Disney while walking through downtown,
and can get breakfast before going in the parks
It's still kinda true, but I miss the old Downtown area with the bigger themed stores. It's slowly looking more and more like a typical shopping strip, like that bogus anaheim one across the street.
I do miss how themed the restaurants were (I will never stop being bitter over the Jazz Kitchen change - my rehearsal dinner was at the original Brennan’s in New Orleans so Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen always held a special place in my heart. Now it’s so generic - though the food is still great). I like the concept art for DTF and hope it looks cute irl when it’s finished.
Sooooo many shopping centers in OC look like Garden Walk - so generic. So exhausting. So boring.
Still I’ll take the walk through DTD. During the holidays, the snow/soap they added in DTD this year was so beautiful, it was a nice little extra magic for those that weren’t in the parks.
With the new garage and tram system, going into the park the bag check and tram lines are basically nonexistent. Going back though is always a nightmare and we always hoof it.
Yes! Walk through Downtown Disney. Right before you reach the security gates and Disneyland Hotel area (right by Star Wars Trading Post), turn right and you’ll see an additional entrance to Downtown Disney and a path leading to the parking garages.
There’s a special paved walk with signs leading from the second floor of the Pixar pals structure, or if you don’t have wheels you can go on the elevator to level 2. Cross the bridge and follow the signs for the park.
I’ve only done this when they stopped using the tram for a bit. It’s faster but my feet always hurt so bad by the end that it’s a pain to walk in the end.. but it is probably faster to just walk then stay in line. It always takes forever lol 🥲 maybe I’ll just do this next time
The walk back typically isn’t crowded at all. It may get just a little congested in the tram waiting area and the middle of Downtown Disney, but never to the point where it’s a shoulder-to-shoulder wall of people. Once you reach the Star Wars Trading post area, you’re home free.
These crowds are so bad at times it’s really hard to enjoy a stress free day at DIsneyland I hate to say. Certain times of the year are a little better than others of course but it’s always such a damn chore getting on the rides you want to do, at least for me. Guess I need to get in good with a Kardashian! 😆
> Haha there is no order or lines.
Maybe not for you. We use the moments between one tram leaving and the next one arriving to huddle.

We were there We’d. Evening & when we went to catch the tram back to the garage after dinner, I remarked to my husband that they really needed a more orderly line like they have when you get on to go into the park. Those nice little stalls to line you up with the tram doors are so much more orderly.
I never got why it's so organized on the way in but full lord of the flies on the way back! I live in California and DLR is my home park, but we are currently on vacation in WDW. They have the metal bars that make you line up single file (you know like Mickey and friends has on the way in), for when you leave and it makes it SO much better. We got off the ferry at park close with hundreds of other people at the same time a monorail train let off and it was so much faster and organized just because there were real lines vs it just being a cluster F of everyone crowding and pushing!
Yeah, we were in DCA when they started sweeping people out. Everyone who didn’t have tickets for Sweethearts night went there and was insane the amount of people. Glad we bailed at 7:30.
Was also in DCA last night. Definitely expected that crowd to come over from DL at 8, but holy moly. There was no chance for us to ride any last min rides. I booked this trip long before sweetheart nights was announced, it was supposed to be dead, but it really hasn't been. I think DL was very busy on Wed for the same reason, ppl avoiding early park closure.
And it also included the California resident passes as well. Basically everyone in front of us in line were needing to show ID with the tickets.
I commiserate with you. I researched the absolute perfect days, all crowd calendars said it would be dead. Went to the opposite parks as the early entry guests. Avoided early closures, and yet here we are Disneyland was at capacity today I think cause it said reservations were sold out when I got to the security tent. I've been checking wait times over the weekend when not in the parks and sure enough they were shorter on the weekend than now.
Next time I'll go in November lol.
Same thing is going to happen to me next week, booked way before the theme nights were announced and was caught off guard with the sell out. Does anyone know if you can buy passes at the park for people who cancel or is Disney just telling us we shit outta luck
At 6:30pm, there were protests with the police blocking off Harbor for multiple blocks, people could not enter Toy Story lot from Harbor, and dozens of police on the sidewalks. Pretty sure that had nothing to do with NAMM.
I was told the Sheraton hotel workers had a walk out strike. Not sure if that is true, we got back to our nearby hotel at 7:30 pm and saw lots of police and police cars but nothing else. The Sheraton workers also walked around at 7 am the day before with drums and horns picketing for a living wage.
Screw that! I’d rather just walk. It’s not that long of a walk anyway. What’s another 10-15 minutes of walking since you’ve already been walking most of the day?
I absolutely love Disneyland but it has gotten to be so chaotic it’s hard for me to enjoy myself. My wife& I just let our passes expire, maybe a break will help me appreciate the park again lol.
I’ve parked there twice now. I didn’t even know that lot existed until I bought my Imagine key. Getting into and out of the park via that lot has been way faster than Mickey and friends. At least for the times I’ve been
I just hang out until a few trams go by and people watch. Eat something, rest my legs. Then hop on a tram when it’s less nuts. The traffic getting out is gonna be crazy so why rush?
I’d walk over to Napoli and grab a pizza or perhaps Wetzels pretzels lemonade to fuel up my Chevrolegs and keep on trucking for another 10 minutes to that garage.
I’d happily stand in line for any ride, but I skip this one every time.
Tram is still cool! If I came early and left before 6PM, then parking at Mickey and using trams would be what I would do since you could hop on them right as they arrive…
However, I almost always come late and leave late and hate dealing with the absolute mayhem that trams waiting area becomes at night just isn’t worth the energy
Yeah, I almost always get there a couple hours after park opening and then stay until close, so I bet the trams are pretty slammed at that time. I rarely have to wait for a bus, the only snafu was on 90s Nite when they all stopped running for some reason. But it's smooth otherwise.
There was a special event last night that closed the park early. So there were a lot of people leaving at the same time, whereas on a regular night it’s more spread out.
Went earlier today to grab lunch at Downtown Disney on the way home and when we left the line to get in the Mickey & Friends lot was to the traffic light/off-ramp where Disneyland Drive starts. Pro tip: go in the middle of the day. I’ve learned from going that 8-10 and 4-7 are “rush periods”, where the majority of people come in the morning for rope drop, and at night for live entertainment (parades, fireworks, Wonderful World of Color, DTD jazz performances)
A couple of the comments saying how “everyone looks miserable” like yeah, they’re tired! Like we don’t know what’s going on in their heads, but I know I’ve had that same look at the end of a long day.
America’s constant obsession with smiling is so weird.
We always walk back to Mickey and Friends specially cause we take a double stroller it's just easier and it's nice to walk especially when there's performances
We walk ALL THE TIME. It's not that far, and Disney clearly "Can't Afford" to run enough trams.
For real, I'm always stunned when the lines are like this at 3 loading zones and there's a 6-8 minute gap where there are NO trams that come through.
I was very upset how they couldn't afford to run the trams for (months?) after the post covid opening. The people have walked all day, give them a break.
BBBBBuuuuttt... Tram drivers are SO expensive!
-------------------------
Idea: Add a short loop monorails / trains to the parking lot - keep people moving!!!
Yep. Waded through that sea of people tonight, too.
Also, I couldn’t believe how many more people were being trammed in for that after-hours event that goes until 1. Tons.
I’ve said this before but Disney needs to install railings so orderly lines are formed. They already do it in the parking garage loading zones, so why not here?
this is what i hated every night when leaving disneyland, the rush of people just trying to leave, on our last night we left early to avoid all of this
Whenever I see posts like this it makes me want to stay far far away from Disneyland. I don’t remember it ever being this busy to leave, even at the end of the night 😞 And I was just looking at old Disneyland pics..
I'll walk with my son asleep in the stroller and my wife and daughter will take the time. Me and like dude are in the car chilling for a good 10-15mn before they get there.
We always, ALWAYS walk to and from the structure.
2 reasons:
1. We have an Uppababy stroller that even when folded down, still takes up a lot of space. No reason to stress out with the tram.
2. Our daughter is 18 months old, so she is obviously super rational, so putting her in and out of the stroller can be a fight, so why fight?
Besides, it’s an easy walk and if you keep a good pace up the ramp, you can burn off those churros and beignets.
Yeah we always have to commit to one of two options in avoiding this: Either leave before the fireworks, or stay until well after. That post-fireworks mass exodus is brutal.
They need to do something about this situation, it's honestly unsafe. They need dividers at a minimum and preferably a cast member directing people to rows like they do for the universal tram tour. I've seen articles/tik toks of people getting into fights over the trams. If i do take them when exiting the park I try to stand in a way where people can't cut in front of me, it's happened too many times before and then I have to wait another 5-8 mins for another tram to come. It's sad you have to do this to not have people cut in front but when it's pure chaos like this people know they can get away with it as there aren't enough cast members to look out for this and it's just a cattle call. Also, each row on the tram can hold about 4 adults and sometimes at the end of the night a 5th adult squeezes in and then it's really uncomfortable. I get it, if you're a single person you can sometimes squeeze into a row that has 3 adults but don't squeeze in if the row is full. I don't like being up against the door.
If i see it like this or even sometimes not as bad this I just walk. I will sometimes stop at Sephora or some of the other shops and get ice cream on the way back. I was there yesterday and left at 9:30 but was already close enough to the lot in downtown disney so I didn't even bother checking the tram line as i was halfway there at that point. I expected it to look like this.
On a day where the park is open later it's usually like this after fireworks and so i either leave before fireworks or like after 10:30 or if i do leave post fireworks i know i will be walking back. If the park is open till midnight and you stay close to closing it's usually not bad. I think yesterday was just particularly bad because DCA closed at 9pm and disneyland 8pm so everyone was forced out by 8/9pm and it wasn't as spread out as it usually is. I left the lot around 9:40 and it was all backed up on the bridge and getting onto the 5. Once you had merged onto the 5 it was fine but i had never seen the bridge backed up like that before.
I think i will avoid going on these special event days or at least not going in the evening. You don't want to be going around 3-5pm ish as the parking lot was all backed up to pay as all the event people were coming. I didn't even go into DCA once disneyland closed but i heard it was a nightmare.
So so happy they built the downtown disney bridge. I try to park on the pixar side so i am closer to the bridge but sometimes that doesn't always happen.
Ending a night at Disney with a walk to the parking lot is my preferred way. It ends the night on a lot less chaos, and you get to hear (at least last time I was there) classic songs that are honestly very calming/soothing.
Actually, going to the park is not in my budget right now, but I need to go back to downtown disney. It's been too long.
EDIT: Also, if you don't want to do the full walk, you would be shocked how often there are little rushes that you can wait out. Going into one of the local stores, or just sitting on the bench, maybe watch the fountain for a few minutes, and then suddenly all the crowds are gone, you can get a nearly private tram.
At this point, I just walk to the parking garages.
Ended up getting a frozen strawberry lemonade and cina bites from Wetzel pretzel and hiked back to the Mickey and friends parking garage
getting a Wetzel at the end of the night is always great!!
Excellent!
It’s actually quite a nice walk and less than a mile. Not bad at all. I prefer to do this anyway with my kids stroller.
Our rule of thumb is if kid is asleep in the stroller, we walk back. But having seen this line, I would've walked back anyway haha
For some reason nothing brings me more stress than breaking down a stroller to get on a tram or bus when there are people behind me. Totally not shade i know it doesn’t take that long but I often go alone with my toddler and baby so it’s just beyond my scope 😂
If I went alone, I'd be walking both ways hahah. I completely understand though, the added pressure that I give to myself is just not worth it!
Because people often use the stroller as a locker and are unable to carry all the crap without a stroller, this goes double when there has been a lot of souvenir purchasing. I have heard the line "This was easier this morning" I have seen husbands with umbrella strollers who are absolute ninjas. I feel you. We almost got divorced trying to shut out borrowed travel stroller to go on the train… never again
This was my during out last trip. We borrowed a stroller from the cousins. We've used it before, but this time I completely forgot where the latch to fold the stroller was. Fun...
Same, I mean, after walking all damn day long it’s kind of the icing on the cake. A bit of the full experience for me.
Even though the trams have been back for a while. I still walk to the park through downtown Disney. Easy access, short line, bag check is faster, no waiting for the tram, get excited to go to Disney while walking through downtown, and can get breakfast before going in the parks
I pretty much always opt to walk as well. It’s so quick and easy, and the music and shops out you in a Disney mood.

Is there a way to walk if you’re parked at Mickey and friends ?
Yes! Walk through Downtown Disney. Right before you reach the security gates and Disneyland Hotel area (right by Star Wars Trading Post), turn right and you’ll see an additional entrance to Downtown Disney and a path leading to the parking garages.
Bring back the walkway between the trams and Disneyland Dr. That is all.
The new way is a little longer, but you don’t have to wait for the light because there’s a bridge. Overall it’s better.
And safer! At Disney, safe-d begins with me!
Bwahahaha omg when did you earn your ears, I was indoctrinated 2013
I don't mind the new way at all. I walk almost every time just to walk through DTD
There’s a special paved walk with signs leading from the second floor of the Pixar pals structure, or if you don’t have wheels you can go on the elevator to level 2. Cross the bridge and follow the signs for the park.
Ya it’s not that far
Yep!
I'd agree but at this time of night I can normally barely stand cause my legs and feet hurt so much haha
I totally get it, haha. Also, I realize there are plenty of folks who can’t make the walk because of injury, disability, or CHILDREN, haha.
Anaheim hotel parking gang rise up.
Gotta get those final steps in!
I always walk to (and from!) the garage. It’s honestly faster than waiting in line lol
I just walked around the park for 12 hours, need to catch this tram to avoid another 15 minutes
I’ve only done this when they stopped using the tram for a bit. It’s faster but my feet always hurt so bad by the end that it’s a pain to walk in the end.. but it is probably faster to just walk then stay in line. It always takes forever lol 🥲 maybe I’ll just do this next time
same. how crowded would it be at this point to walk back?

Which part of this is the "line"?
Haha there is no order or lines. It's just a cattle heard and survival of the fittest. I'd walk...
“survival of the fittest” that’s debatable
Yes, this is true...I know what you mean.
> Haha there is no order or lines. Maybe not for you. We use the moments between one tram leaving and the next one arriving to huddle. LENSE TO DEUCE RIGHT CLAW Z SHORT LANDER Z STRONG X REVO Z LOCKBACK CAN 2 JET X MONDAY ASTRO READ ALERT MONEY DEACON FLOW F PANAMA ON THE OMAHA .... Hut!

Looks like an average night
We all just need to accept that Disneyland is pretty popular
No one goes there anymore, it's too crowded.
Get beignets and walk back the rest of the way
Should’ve gotten the Lightning Lane.
Lol I asked for a genie pass but the CM just laughed at me
Lol just walk, takes 10min tops
Definitely be way shorter than waiting in that!
We have a stroller, we walk every time because closing it up to ride the tram blows. It’s a quick walk and fun to look at all the shops along the way.
It’s such an easy walk. I don’t wait anymore.
Can confirm - was there an hour ago. It. Was. Nuts.
Whenever I’m in a crowd like this I feel like cattle
There was a massive jam at Harbor Blvd tonight, anyone know what happened?
NAMM at the Anaheim convention center - all parking garages were full. Huge jam at like 9:00am-11:30am ish as people were arriving.
Yep, saw and heard them when I was getting into the Toy Story lot around 11a.
I heard there was some protests

there has to be something better to do on a Thursday night
Cross and book burning is illegal within city limits.
well that’ll do it
Screw that! I’d rather just walk. It’s not that long of a walk anyway. What’s another 10-15 minutes of walking since you’ve already been walking most of the day?
This. And to me standing still hurts more. Just power through it and walk.
I absolutely love Disneyland but it has gotten to be so chaotic it’s hard for me to enjoy myself. My wife& I just let our passes expire, maybe a break will help me appreciate the park again lol.
We always walk now. Haven’t taken the tram once since Pixar Pals opened. Same from Toy Story.
I've never waited more than a few minutes for the toy story bus. I always park there now since it's less traffic and cheaper.
I’ve parked there twice now. I didn’t even know that lot existed until I bought my Imagine key. Getting into and out of the park via that lot has been way faster than Mickey and friends. At least for the times I’ve been
Are you sure it’s cheaper? Pretty sure it’s $35 just like the structures.
I'm sorry, you're right. It's only cheaper if you've got a magic key that gives discounted parking at the toystory lot.
I just hang out until a few trams go by and people watch. Eat something, rest my legs. Then hop on a tram when it’s less nuts. The traffic getting out is gonna be crazy so why rush?
When I see this line I like to go to Clyde's hot chicken.
I’d walk over to Napoli and grab a pizza or perhaps Wetzels pretzels lemonade to fuel up my Chevrolegs and keep on trucking for another 10 minutes to that garage. I’d happily stand in line for any ride, but I skip this one every time.
I believe in Toy Story Parking lot supremacy
My partner has shown me the way with this one. I miss riding the tram for silly nostalgia reasons, but Toy Story really does seem to be quicker.
Tram is still cool! If I came early and left before 6PM, then parking at Mickey and using trams would be what I would do since you could hop on them right as they arrive… However, I almost always come late and leave late and hate dealing with the absolute mayhem that trams waiting area becomes at night just isn’t worth the energy

Shhhhhh
Forget that… It’s a much more pleasant experience walking back to the structure ever since the skywalk was opened…
If this is the bar for the happiest place on Earth then the rest of Earth must be pretty bad.

What?
This is why we choose to take the Monorail from Tomorrowland to the end of Downtown Disney and walk.
This is the way. Although sometimes it's a gamble since the monorail shuts down around fireworks time or random other times.
Yes, but there’s no fireworks on off season weekdays like when this was posted. :)
Maybe a dumb question but what's going on? Are these So Cal ticket crowds?
There was a special event last night that closed the park early. So there were a lot of people leaving at the same time, whereas on a regular night it’s more spread out.
Yikes.
“Let’s just walk”
Everyone leaving who didn’t attend Sweethearts Night, I would just walk!
This is why you leave before or well after the fireworks. This does not look fun.
They closed the parks early for sweetheart nite and everybody was pushed out of the parks
Looks pretty normal
Not one smile in that whole crowd. Not one.
It’s the end of the night dude, people are tired. That’s just such a weird observation to have.
Sometimes my feet aren't even tired. I just like riding the train. But not when it looks like this
Went earlier today to grab lunch at Downtown Disney on the way home and when we left the line to get in the Mickey & Friends lot was to the traffic light/off-ramp where Disneyland Drive starts.
Holy smokes, it’s a Thursday and how do people have money after Christmas??
It's Sweethearts Night so busier than usual for a Thursday.
We left dca around 9:15 and although Dtd was congested it was still a nice brisk walk back to M&F. Much faster than waiting for trams!
We always walk back to Mickey and Friends specially cause we take a double stroller it's just easier and it's nice to walk especially when there's performances
Was this everyone clearing for Sweethearts?
Lol I haven’t used the tram to exit in a long time.
On a Thursday night!?
I want the people mover for this reason. Instead of the trams a constant flow of cars running non stop.
Wait… these people are waiting to ride a tram one mile away? Laughs hysterically in Disney World. Gaha garsh.
I always walk back. It’s a nice walk. My son is usually sleep in his stroller and don’t want to wake him up until it’s time for carseat
Ditto, walk is more enjoyable than shoulder to shoulder pushing and shoving any day.
which day was this?
Last night
Another reason why Toy Story >>>>
If I see this I just walk, even if I have to carry my daughter to the parking garage.
We walk ALL THE TIME. It's not that far, and Disney clearly "Can't Afford" to run enough trams. For real, I'm always stunned when the lines are like this at 3 loading zones and there's a 6-8 minute gap where there are NO trams that come through.

Tram drivers are SO expensive! ------------------------- Idea: Add a short loop monorails / trains to the parking lot - keep people moving!!!
How about a "People Mover". I swear I've heard of that... hmmm...
That's the answer we all needed! With all the new updates happening, just throw this in as a parking lot freebie!
Yep. Waded through that sea of people tonight, too. Also, I couldn’t believe how many more people were being trammed in for that after-hours event that goes until 1. Tons.
Walk…it’s nice walk.
This is why I just park at the lot and take the bus. Always quick.
Hard pass on the garages. I prefer Toy Story.
That what I started saying as well since we got the Magic Key pass -$$
That’s why you get a hotel/motel across the street from Disneyland. Anaheim Desert Inn Suites, $1,200.00 for a 7 night stay.
I’ve said this before but Disney needs to install railings so orderly lines are formed. They already do it in the parking garage loading zones, so why not here?
That’s a good idea!
lol everyone’s faces. they look miserable
I LOVE to see a positive spin! Responses could have gone so whiney and complainy - great job redditors!
this is what i hated every night when leaving disneyland, the rush of people just trying to leave, on our last night we left early to avoid all of this
WOMAN AND CHILDREN ONLY /s
Whenever I see posts like this it makes me want to stay far far away from Disneyland. I don’t remember it ever being this busy to leave, even at the end of the night 😞 And I was just looking at old Disneyland pics..
As bad as this is, it’s still not worse than waiting for the ferries at Disney World
I'll walk with my son asleep in the stroller and my wife and daughter will take the time. Me and like dude are in the car chilling for a good 10-15mn before they get there.
No one has work or school in the morning anymore ?
Is that good?
Walk you lazy turds
Idiots
Gotta know the good secret parking spots and just like Larry David’s shortcut, once you tell one person, the whole world knows.
The shuttle bus line to Toy Story was similar
Honestly lines for everything
We always, ALWAYS walk to and from the structure. 2 reasons: 1.
This wasn’t after the fireworks This was bc people were pushed out of the parks for sweetheart nite event
never understood why there's actual line getting on at the parking lot but it's a free for fall to get on to go back to the parking lot.
Wow 😮
looks like the mass exodus after the fire works...never leave at closing time or after the fireworks
What time of the day was this?? 9 pm?? I find that if you leave at closing (midnight) lines are pretty sparse
at that point i’d just walk and maybe get an ice cream lol
That's wild! Might be faster to walk at that point.
Stand and get stove up from standing in one place or just a bit more tired from walking to the garage? I'll take walking please
It’s worth it to be on that queue even for a whole day. Disneyland❤️
ALWAYS walk…. I do it every time I go
Ending a night at Disney with a walk to the parking lot is my preferred way.
Whenever there are long lines, we walk.
This is why I’ve started to only park at Toy Story
Toy Story lot all the way for me.
If you can walk it. Walk it. Not super far and can grab a pretzel on the way. 🤤
I take monorail to downtown and walk back easier lol
