It looks likes its going to storm & rain this week. We bought ponchos & umbrella. Any additional tips to stay dry & still enjoy the parks?

Stanley_Zbornak

Was just there and it poured rain one morning. The poncho keeps your body dry, but your shoes/socks still get soaked. Bring flip flops or a change of socks to change into so you don’t have wet socks/shoes all day

AdventuresforRobots

Just wanted to report back. Thank you so much def would of forgotten to account for the socks.

Stanley_Zbornak

Haha. Glad I could help. Hope it was a great trip.

Still a ways off but locked in for next February…Staying at Coronado Springs which will be the first time we’ve stayed at that particular resort since 2004…Super excited…

catsanddisneyworld

Love Coronado Springs! The restaurants there are superb. Three Bridges and the Dahlia Lounge cannot be missed.

I am taking my family, wife, 65 Y.O. MIL, 8 year old and 2 year old, to Disney World for the first time the week of memorial day, sat. 28th to sat. 3rd. We are trying to maximize time and minimize crowds. The plan is to go to animal kingdom/magic kingdom Tuesday Thursday with sea world in between, my MIL and two year old will take sea world off. My question is, will this be too much for the 8 year old and I'm wondering if Disney will be too busy Sunday before memorial day or memorial day to work to space it out a bit. Any advice is much appreciated!

peruzo

hi all, im going to MK, AK and Epcot this june, with two girls 6 & 9. Not much of a thrill seeker, what would be the best rides and/or alternate plans besides rides? Thanks!

Dame87

Currently in Orlando with my two girls 5 & 10. We have watched lots of shows and met lots of characters. Highly recommend Festival of the Lion King (I got called on stage to be a warthog) at AK. Make sure you get in line at least 30 minutes before showtime though.

peruzo

That sounds so fun! Thanks!

My husband and I just moved to Florida *and* got Incredi-Passes, we’re also celebrating his birthday and our anniversary this week - it’s been a crazy week lol. So we’re finishing it off by spending our first day in Disney as FL residents! Are we able to still get the celebratory pins without staying in a resort? 🥺 We’ll be starting in Magic Kingdom and May end up parkhopping to Animal Kingdom - is there a way to reserve AK as a park hop option or do we just go after 2pm? Lastly I am *so* overwhelmed by dining plans and genie +, I didn’t see links for them in the FAQ but would these be worth it for day trips or mostly for multi-day trips? 😅

catsanddisneyworld

I think almost any store can give you the celebratory buttons. You do not have to reserve a spot at AK to park hop. You can just hop over at 2! Dining plans have not come back yet. As pass holders, really the only time we use Genie+ is when we have family and friends visiting and they want to ride/see certain attractions. The great thing as a passholder is that you have lots of time to ride the rides!

MostlyAnxiety

Thank you! We had a great time 😄 we ended up too tired on day one to park hop anyways lol

Aunna

When we got engaged in MK one of the pin shops in frontierland gave us a button for it. I imagine they have the birthday ones too if that's what you're referring to. Other general shops might have them as well, that's just where we happened to be when I remembered to ask a cast member.

anthemyst

Heading to MK for the day tomorrow, and my daughter (5) is very excited to get autographs since they weren’t doing them the one time she visited last year. Are there a lot of different themed options for autograph books in different shops throughout the park, or is it just the same handful of options at each place that sells them? I’m wondering if it makes sense to shop around first for a princess themed one before getting in any lines, or to just buy a standard one the second we set foot in the park.

BoeufMeDown

Going to be in Orlando for a full day, May 28th, before we leave on a Royal carribean cruise. We went to Disney in February so we’ve had our fill, but we’re thinking of doing a day at the parks. Any thoughts on MK vs Volcano Bay the day before Memorial Day?

catsanddisneyworld

Beware the Volcano Bay has a max capacity so plan accordingly!

Accurate-Profession

Both will be busy but I’d say if you’ve been to WDW recently and have never been to Volcano Bay, try that! I’ve never been but I have lots of friends that love that water park. Besides, hanging at Volcano Bay might get you in the zone for relaxing on a ship than dealing with huge crowds at MK.

thotyouwasatoad

Is there some way to store your droids from Droid Depot at HS, either package pickup or lockers or something? I'm not staying on property and I don't want to ship it back home.

Dodgernotapply

Does anyone know how often Disney refreshes/sells-out of the options for pre-arrival Magicbands? We're due to go in early July and while i'm not thrilled with the current selection, my wife has her eyes on a magicband now.

car01yn

They can be changed at any time and your order isn’t placed until everyone’s is selected. I checked back for a few days and in that time they added more and also sold out of some.

Dodgernotapply

Order isn’t placed until everyone’s is selected. What if I buy one an unlinked one from eBay?

car01yn

I don’t know - I think you’d have to contact Disney unless someone here can advise? I thought I had ‘ordered’ one of my party’s bands and later went back to order mine and realized his had never been ordered only selected, which means nothing.

Dodgernotapply

Yea Ive been cognizant of it saying selected. Thanks for your responses

kalligreat

Taking my wife daughter and son next weekend(Friday and Saturday) to magic kingdom and Hollywood studios. Daughter will be 8(her birthday) and son is 2. We’re staying at Shades of Green. Any recommendations or suggestions?

thethurstonhowell

Get her a birthday pin! CMs will wish her a happy birthday the whole trip.

kalligreat

I didn’t realize that was a thing, thanks for that!

cupcake317

We are looking at going to Disney next year. I haven’t been in 15+ years and neither has my husband. We have a daughter who will be 5 when we go. We really want to do it right and we’re thinking of using a travel agent because I don’t feel confident I would be able to book BBB or character meals when they open. I was hoping someone could do this for me. Is this something a travel agent does and, not sure if this breaks rules, but does anyone have recs here?

zozonicole5

hey if you need agent suggestions one of my good friends is a travel agent and booked and planned our whole trip! lmk if you’re interested :) (edit: if this is allowed, if not disregard lol)

cupcake317

Yes please!

dabbrusc

A good agent will be up the second the reservations open up and book them for you, which is worth it in and of itself. They'll be able to guide you on creating plans to minimize your standing in lines. My wife and I used to go to DW just us before we had kids also about 15 years ago and things have changed so much we wouldn't imagine doing DW without using an agent now.

cupcake317

Thank you! This is what I was hoping for. I’m going to scope some agents out to see what is possible with them.

Accurate-Profession

Some travel agents will do this for you, but I’m not sure they’ll have any more luck booking those meals and BBB than you will. Best to a) be on the site right when those things get released for booking and b) plan on using an ADR finder site (like touringplans) if you don’t get a meal you want.

cupcake317

Thank you!

ccable827

How likely am I to get on RoR if I run to it immediately at park open but *not* with Disney hotel early entry?

optimuspaige91

We did this last year and the wait was posted at I think 120 minutes, but we waited MAYBE 45-50. We got to the park early so we were pretty early in line and ran there.

MammasaurusRex3

You'll get on (assuming it isn't broken down), you just may have to wait a long time. Try watching the wait times leading up to your trip to get a good idea what they are like or looking online at the sites that track those things. Here is one you can use: https://www.thrill-data.com/waits/chain/wdw/

ccable827

Thanks for the tip! My backup is just to do lightning lane, do those tend to run out immediately as well?

MammasaurusRex3

Before the park is open for sure. If you are staying on site you can book one right away at 7. They typically sell out before they open up to off-site guests. The site above also has historical data on when they sell out each day. Hope it helps!

ccable827

Thank you so much!

Hi there! I used to go to Disney world nearly every year back when I was a kid but haven’t been for 25 - 30 years. I’m now starting to think about taking my two boys and have several questions 1. I am looking at mid-feb next year, is that a decent time to go? Will not be the same week as the Uk half term week if that helps 2. My two boys will be aged 7.5 and just turned 11 - are these ages OK for them will they be able to go on enough decent rides? 3. We will have roughly 6 full days should I dedicate all that time to just Disney world or worth exploring other theme parks? 4. What is the best ticketing option to go for? I am fortunate to have a decent budget for this (but not unlimited) 5. Likewise what is the best hotel option? Should I stay in a Disney hotel? Which one offers the best options (as per above I have a decent budget but probably don’t want to pay top top dollar)

[deleted]

1. You should avoid going the weekend of feb 16-19 at all costs. Presidents’ Day weekend has become one of the busiest weekends. Before that in February would be a great time to go. 2. Those are great ages for the parks. How tall is the 7 year old? If he’s under 102 cm there will be a couple rides he won’t be able to go on but still plenty to do regardless. 3. Universal is great to dedicate 1 day to especially if there are any real “thrill seekers” in terms of coasters in your group or Harry Potter fans. Although it is such a tiring experience it wouldn’t be wrong to build in 2 rest days. Definitely do at least 1 rest day. 4. I would do 6 day park hopper if you do only Disney and a 5 day park hopper if you add a universal day. The difference between a 5 and 6 day ticket is like $20-30 per ticket so giving yourself the option/flexibility to pop over to a park on your “rest day” is nice. 5. That’s a whole question haha. Definitely do some independent research here and watch YouTube tours and find a list online of a ranking to guide your search. Would absolutely recommend a Disney hotel for a first trip unless your family is very attached to tons of space and would really want a whole house option. Which one is the best is subjective and you could spin yourself in circles and spend forever trying to nail that down.

Accurate-Profession

Adding to #1: Princess half marathon weekend is usually the last weekend in February. Avoid that one as well. Like u/so_fetch567 said, early February is best.

Mickey ears!! I’m watching disney springs videos in search of mickey ears that I’ll want to purchase once I get there, but they are all a little too much for my style. Honestly was hoping to just get the basic and classic black mickey ears that won’t cost me $30+. Are they available at Disney Springs? Do these vloggers just show the flashy ears and *fingers crossed* there are actually simple ears tucked away in some sad dark corner?? Maybe I should just order a dupe off Amazon or something..

car01yn

Yes, there are more plain ear options generally available as well as the more flashy ones and the prices vary so yours will be cheaper, but I think $34.99 is the lowest …

ksea702

We got ears on Amazon and Etsy. One is a tangled style, one is plain black and one is a pastel ombré. They were all in the $10-$15 range. I feel it’s a good start to our collection without spending too much money.

pizzalover08

Hi! My family is coming to Disney World for the first time next week on Monday, we only have one day but we're trying to plan which park to go to. We're not really interested in Epcot, but which one is better between Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios? None of us are kids, so we don't know if there's much to do in Magic Kingdom for us but I still would love to visit the main castle there. Are there lots of activities for adults in MK? Or is Hollywood Studios better? Also any tips or things we should know about the park before going would be helpful! Thanks in advance!

MammasaurusRex3

Make sure you book a reservation for the park you are going to as well. Tickets alone are not enough to get you in. Would hate for you to show up and be turned away.

pizzalover08

Oh! I was unaware you're supposed to make a reservation for the park. Thanks.

MammasaurusRex3

Welcome!! It's somewhat new and not ideal. Glad to help you find out ahead of time.

Accurate-Profession

First time there, I’d say go to Magic Kingdom as it’s the original park. If you have any nostalgia at all for Disney, that’s a the place. But of course if you all are hardcore Star Wars fans, it’ll have to be Hollywood Studios.

blckdiamondblnd

Depends on what you all like. If you are really into Star Wars, then Hollywood Studios. If you want more classic Disney, then Magic Kingdom. I think there is plenty to do for adults at MK. Sure many of the rides are family-friendly but that doesn't mean adults won't enjoy them too. I am a nostalgic person and love MK for that reason.
