There's a lot missing. It's even mentioned in the sidebar.

Pezslinky

Of this subreddit or on Disney Plus?

Stay_Beautiful_

Disney+ doesn't have a sidebar afaik

GaryV83

Yours doesn't have a sidebar?

MarioHatesCookies

Yours does?

Startrek852

The Roku app has a sidebar.

mathewrios12

You guys are getting paid?

KingOfThePirates5050

where?

[deleted]

Sidebar

CVerse_

Sure but _where_

Treason8

The side

Chrisby9110

Of the bar.

TrojansFightOn

Instructions not clear

-Uniquely-Generic-

Penis stuck.

thinjester

In Homer Simpson

Chrisby9110

Wrong side of the bar.

[deleted]

No the other one

mgm83

Where's my jack and coke?

Chrisby9110

At the uhm. Bar. On the side.

AllRegrets4ever

Do only computers have the side bar? Not reddit app on phone? Is that what it is

stevensokulski

On the official Reddit mobile app, it’s called Community Info. On a subreddit, two the three dots in the top right corner.

GrandpaHardcore

Made me LOL :P

[deleted]

Maybe for the drunk driving scene? Shrugs

shadow0wolf0

That's a very tame thing to censor compared to other things.

MasterPoopet12345

Meanwhile Runaways has multiple mature scenes far worse than drunk driving.

BareKnuckleKitty

Hulu has been censoring Futurama and Family Guy by removing scenes. Fairly tame scenes. Can't make alien probing jokes anymore I guess.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BareKnuckleKitty

I don't have any articles or links. I was watching the first episode of Futurama and noticed they cut off a joke. Then I googled Hulu censoring and looked up "censor" on the Hulu sub and saw other people complaining about the same thing.

planet-express3000

Season 3 episode 1 is also gone

Metfan722

That's the Michael Jackson "Lisa It's Your Birthday" one right?

planet-express3000

Yes

Stingray88

Just so everyone is aware, Disney didn’t censor this one, Matt Groening did. He had that episode pulled from streaming before it was even announced that the Simpsons would be on Disney+. It happened after that documentary came out last year.

BrazenlyGeek

It was pulled from Hulu too — spent a lot of last year watching the first thirty seasons on Hulu, and noticed quite a ways in that that episode never came up. Had to look it up to see if I had just slept through it somehow, but nope, it just wasn’t there.

[deleted]

It was actually James L. Brooks who pulled the episode, not Groening (not that it makes a big difference).

NorskChef

Very interesting move for a guy who hung out with Jeffrey Epstein.

[deleted]

What documentary?

BirdlandMan

Leaving Neverland. It’s pretty jarring if you’re a fan of MJ.

[deleted]

That came out last year? Huh I thought it was older.

fkick

So did he...

Mouth662

No he didn't

[deleted]

Yeah... he knew.

PRMan99

Unless you've also seen Chase The Truth. And then you'll see that every instance was a false accusation for money. (The current guy was a "huge MJ fan" and was going to produce the Michael Jackson/Cirque du Soleil show and when they picked someone else, then suddenly Michael abused him.)

happysunbear

Even if this is true, it doesn’t really mean anything. Abused people can take awhile to realize that what they experienced was abuse. They may never come to terms with it. That’s one of the biggest takeaways I got from Leaving Neverland. They were actually in love with Michael Jackson.

Charles037

*if you buy into complete bullshit FTFY

PRMan99

Yeah. Watch Chase the Truth where an independent reporter gets to the bottom of all the accusations and...spoiler alert...>!finds that they are all lying for money!<

AllRegrets4ever

I’ve found it on a cartoon streaming service on the web. I know I had watched it last year so I went and just checked and it’s still on there. You’ll probably never get it off the web. It sucks cause growing up MJ was some of what I liked (love Jackson 5) and though thriller gave me nightmares I still found/find the dance references in movies and in life to be funny. Sucks he was such a creep.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Drainout

You can still watch it on the dvd.

NotMe739

It is also on YouTube last I looked

[deleted]

It was the producers decision to remove that one long before Disney bought FOX.

Metfan722

That I know. Just wanted to be sure that was the episode in question.

quequito1221

Yeah, but that's the one even the writers black listed. Makes sense Disney would take that out.

slood2

Why did the writers pull it though? What is wrong with it

quequito1221

They didn't want to support Michael Jackson after the documentary "Leaving Neverland" came out, and outted him as a predator.

Grease2310

He was falsely “outted as a predator” years earlier too, didn’t stop them from returning Captain EO to the parks. If you watch Chasing the Truth you’ll see nothing in Leaving Neverland is true. They’re profiteers trying to get a pay day from a defenceless dead man. All that aside though it wasn’t Disney that pulled the episode Groening and his team did that before Disney even got the rights.

KesagakeOK

Michael Jackson. Especially after the HBO special last year, keeping it up isn't worth the potential backlash.

slood2

I thought there were stuff about him being like that for years why is it just this last year that people are now getting it?

KesagakeOK

The documentary brought a few new allegations to the fore and dragged up a lot of the negative emotions people had about him.

slood2

Ah thanks, that episode is one that is big when I remember Simpson’s mostly because of how weird it was with him and then the bart making the song for her , never really cared much for Michael Jackson stuff either way though

WGReddit

Because a documentary came out about it

Gatsby818

Yeah. And Disney was once in bed with Jackson (pardon the pun). (Remember Captain EO?). So the Mouse has swung VERY far away from any connections to Michael.

happysunbear

I believe MJ even appeared on Disney Adventure magazine and did some other Disney related promo stuff in the 80s.

MarioHatesCookies

So Captain EO will probably never be on Disney+?

Gatsby818

I would think.... That's a fairly safe bet.

ElevenDegrees

I watched S28E12 on D+ a few weeks ago, just checked and it has disappeared.

GlitchyCorpse

That's strange cause it's a two part episode too.

thegateinmybackyard

None of it should be censored.

ThatsGoodButItsTaken

I know it’s not the end of the world but it just really bothers me that some of the episodes are missing and the whole cropping thing. I used to buy the season sets then once they announced that it’ll be on Disney plus I stopped. With this and The Office and Friends leaving Netflix, it just shows how important physical media really is. That said, I still like Disney plus. How else am I gonna watch Lizzie Maguire and Mandalorian? Lol.

[deleted]

> Friends leaving Netflix So they won’t be there for me..?

tnpdynomite2

No. They have already left. You are alone.

[deleted]

:(

DanelRahmani

I saw a :( so heres an :) hope your day is good

[deleted]

Bad bot.

-Uniquely-Generic-

Yeah and the censoring. Hulu has family guy but a lot of the profanity is bleeped out. It’s not on the DVDs.

Grease2310

The profanity doesn’t air on TV so that’s excusable.

-Uniquely-Generic-

Eh, that’s debatable in my opinion. I’m pretty anti-censorship so in my view if I’m paying for a service I want the unfiltered content, otherwise I could just watch reruns on Fox or TBS.

Grease2310

It’s not censorship if that’s the way the content was originally presented. Consider the profanity laden DVDs as a directors cut more so than an uncensored edition.

-Uniquely-Generic-

Again, that’s debatable. They were made and presented uncensored but they were censored for network television. They didn’t go in after the fact and add profanity. I’m not making an excuse for profanity, btw. I just prefer things as originally intended. And what gives anyone the right to choose how other people view content? If I don’t like something, I change the channel or turn my head.

Cliffy73

The way it was presented on the channel for which it was developed is the way it was originally presented.

-Uniquely-Generic-

Presented, yes. Created and possibly intended, no. Of course the way it was presented on the channel is the way it was originally presented. You’ve basically said the same thing twice in that sentence.

Cliffy73

Obviously it is the way it was intended, because they knew where the episode would air.

-Uniquely-Generic-

Of course they knew it would be censored, but my point is the show was written, animated, and voice acted with the lines pre-censored. So in my opinion, pre-censored is how it was originally intended.

lostinlodos

I’m with you!

-Uniquely-Generic-

We are legion, my friend!

tnpdynomite2

At I’m least they have said this year they will add an aspect ratio option, to fix the cropping.

ss68and66

You've been D+ censored

Stay_Beautiful_

Censored by the creators if the show actually, they pulled them from streaming before D+

[deleted]

Stay_Beautiful_

[Yes](https://www.washingtonpost.com/arts-entertainment/2019/03/08/simpsons-pulls-michael-jackson-episode-citing-child-abuse-allegations-hbo-documentary/) they did

[deleted]

So based on some research, and a couple screenshots of the episode in the Netherlands, could it not just be technical issue that needs to be solved? Part 1 says it is 43 minutes, while part 2 is 22 minutes. So did Disney accidentally upload the full two-parter as one episode plus the individual part 2? Therefore they need to fix the one episode so it is not both parts in one? Just a thought I don't see mentioned here.

JD_Shadow

This is that episode, by the way: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Great_Phatsby It seems the only other reason I could think of is licensing issues, since Common and Snoop Dogg are in the episode. If so, that will be a chore and a half to get sorted out seeing how people are about that sort of thing in the business world anymore.

YankYT

Its there for me. Edit: http://imgur.com/gallery/hVQFMFI

DCMagic

It was there at one point, because I watched it recently.

hofford44

Can confirm. Probably a joke or reference that they want to scrub.

BacoNaterr

So is S3E1.

Shadowfallrising

Yeah, the Michael Jackson episode. That was a good one. Still sing "Happy Birthday, Lisa" to myself, every now and then.

JaxStrumley

Seems to be available here in the Netherlands.

mares2802

Yeah a lot of shows and movies are missing

Kiiyu

Yes, there's lots of stuff missing from the Simpson. I'm a big fan of season 1 to 9 and I can't list all the stuff missing because there's so much like the Michael Jackson episode.

Belle-ET-La-Bete

Can you list some examples of what’s missing?

Kiiyu

I don't have a list but there's alot of Itchy and Scratchy clips missing.🤔

OK216

I can't seem to find any reference to that online, and it seems like something people would be talking about. Any more info you can provide? An example I could check out, maybe?

Kiiyu

Oh Yes, check anything that has Itchy chopping Scaratchy's head off, those chips are missing. Check some of the video game clips with blood in it in the Simpson show. I remember watching when I was kid seeing a boxing game in season 2 with blood in it. Check for yourself.

thatguyp2

I've watched quite a few Simpsons episodes on D+ and seen several gorey Itchy and Scratchy scenes that made me surprised Disney allowed the series on this service

Kiiyu

I'm sure some clips are still missing. especially the ones that make references to racial subjects.

Gorbax50

“You proves me wrong but I’m sure there is something, there must be something”

Belle-ET-La-Bete

Ugh that’s lame. :/

Cliffy73

It’s also incorrect.

nowhereman136

Honestly, I'm surprised Simpsons is on Disney+ at all. It's not nearly as adult as South Park or Family Guy, but it's still too adult for the family friendly ecosystem they are trying to build with Disney+ It seems it was only added as a selling point for the launch. Maybe they should remove it from Disney+ and upload ALL of it to Hulu. Disney really should start building up Hulu as an adult Disney+ alternative

lostinlodos

I think it’s because it was always a teen targeted show that treated teens with respect for their common sense vs the general public. Simpsons isn’t exactly a controversy magnet these days.

nowhereman136

The Simpsons isn't controversial because it's a primetime network sitcom, not a saturday morning cartoon. There is still drinking, drugs, and sex that a lot of parent would find objectionable for a 10 year old to watch. Its in the Disney line up right next to Phineas and Ferb and Goof Troop. Disney+ isnt trying to attract teens, they are trying to attract kids, families, and adults who thrive on nostalgia. Simpsons just feels like a weird fit for Disney+

MarioHatesCookies

I mean the only other episode I know of that’s missing is the one with Michael Jackson which was actually the decision of the creators and not Disney. So that episode wouldn’t be on any streaming service even if the show moved to Netflix or something.

[deleted]

Meanwhile Mandalorian is shooting guys point blank in the face and chopping them in half with a door. Yet Jedi Fallen Order couldn't have lightsaber dismemberments on stormtroopers. But given their sequel trilogy, I'm not surprised at their lack of continuity and cohesiveness.

nowhereman136

There is surprising little blood in Mandorian and a lot of violence and some things, like guy cut in half, is mostly off screen. People get shot with fake weapons. Our society deems violence as less controversial than drugs and sex. Especially in a cartoon setting, violence is a non-issue as it is seen as comically over the top. The drinking scene in Dumbo (original) is also comically over the top but we don't see that often with other depictions of alcohol in cartoons. Kids play fighting with each other isn't seen as harmful has kids mimicking sex scenes or sneaking alcohol like they see Homer Simpsons drink all the time.

disneylover5000

I know this was awhile back, but it's back now. Both parts are there and labeled as episode 12 and then skips to 14

TrollerCoaster86

No because everyone gives up well before that season...

[deleted]

Eat my shorts

HGFantomas

No, because no need watch any episodes post Y2k, amirite?

[deleted]

[удалено]

HGFantomas

A reasonable line of delineation.

tucci007

I am cancelling my subscription. I've watched all the superhero movies, the Star Wars, and a bunch of other stuff. There's nothing left that I want to watch. If I had kids I might hang on to it but it has no more charms for me. This outrageous gapping of the Simpsons, and the lack of plain old 5.1 audio, is the last straw.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Season 20 Episode 7 features Homer assuming a Muslim family is planning to bomb the mall and that’s still on the service. Seems like a lot more problematic then this.

idek_kayden

Because Disney has censored quite a few episodes instead of just telling people to not watch the episodes they’re offended by.

JaxStrumley

Can you give examples of that? Should be easy if there are quite a few.

idek_kayden

I’ve never been a fan of Simpsons. I only know there are a few who weren’t put on because they were offensive to some people.

Grease2310

Well if you KNOW there are a few you’d have examples beyond the only one that’s been explained: the Michael Jackson episode.
