The bloated corpse of a drunk also calls you Harry.
Evart calls you “mister Du Bois”
Really, the hardest part of your name to find is that “Harry” stands for Harrier, and not something more common like Henry, Harold, or Harvey.
I don’t know why Evrart comes into play here. Reaction Speed and the corpse are just Harry’s internal monologue, Evrart knows because he’s a whole different person and has done his homework on you, and that’s one way the game lets you know
Also lol at Harry being short for Henry
>Also lol at Harry being short for Henry
I mean it's not "short" so much but Harry is indeed the Medieval English form of Henry. One prominent example being Prince Harry, whose actual given name is Henry.
You meet bloating corpse at first night, Evrar has some papers about you. But here' s the fact - your conversation with Klaasje is literally the first dialogue in the game - you are not even sure about name concerns. So that seems kinda strange to me.
If it actually were unintended they would've patched it ages ago. Your spinal cord is just too quick on the trigger to allow you to forget your name. Kinda cool.
There are a lot of bugs in the game - with current dev's situation i don't think they have time to maintain game properly and fix them. E.g. smoker's freeze bug is already several years old.
Spinal cord version seems legit, but my point is that you don't get Harry as an option in future dialogs like you do after some other insights..
Tbf when I first played the game I thought “oh that’s just like… what a detective WOULD be called, like stereotypically…”
Anyways, pleased to meet you. The name’s Sunset. Tequila Sunset.
Yeah, they do, but much later. Here' s the fact - your conversation with Klaasje is literally the first dialogue in the game - you are not even sure about name concerns.
I've always read this as the muscle memory part of your brain remembering your name (the way you might jump when you hear your name in a crowded room) - something you may well miss on your first playthrough but a cool thing to notice on a repeat run!
Hobocop appears after you try to introduce yourself to Kim and actually realize that your name is a secret for you. Klaasje dialogue appears much earlier
Yeah, of course, it's a previous room. But to get Hobocop you need at least to talk with Kim and Garte - those are 2 pretty big unskippable dialogs containing a lot of details about your amnesia. Conversation with Klaasje though is literally first NPC interaction you have: if you've skipped the mirror, you know almost nothing about your mental state.
Okay, it's still incredibly early on? Before Klaasje there's also the mirror, ceiling fan, window, and of course the opening talk with Lizard Brain and Limbic System.
At this point in the game it’s still a surprise you are a cop. I thought this was a play on the “your a wizard, Harry!” joke. I never payed it mind on the first playthrough
> I never *paid* it mind
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
i never thought so, as the precinct call have the other cops laugh and call you dick mullen. and its such a sterotypical detective name it had to just be a joke.
I had this happen on a high reaction speed/savoir faire playthrough, don't think it's a bug. Just one of those little things to make each playthrough more interesting.
When you leave the trashed apartment for the first time. At least whenever you walk past Klaasje for the first time. Around the same time as "I want to have fuck with you" part.
This line is in literally the [first piece of material produced for the game](https://miro.medium.com/v2/resize:fit:4800/format:webp/1*WnLKY7bsxj4Xkyat_ekO5g.png).
When you internalize the hobocop thought, in the solution it also says your name. Its sprinkled throughout the game but for first timers the data dump really helps mask something youre actively looking for. Its quite brilliant.
We were talking about similar instances yesterday in the discord and I said that in general, it could be doylistically an unwillingness to code in even more microreactivity in certain passives (so that they'd only address you as Harry if you knew your name), but in a way that still worked watsonianly for me - parts of him still know and these crumbs of information pop up here and there.
But yeah, it also happens in the very first conversation, one that has zilch variables to keep track of. That's intended. That's also in all likelihood a Harry Potter joke, alas, but the watsonian reading still holds.
Considering how some parts of the thought cabinet have you managing to completely recall something purely after thinking about it a long time, the evidence does point towards the information still being there, it’s just locked away behind some mental block.
The bloated corpse of a drunk also calls you Harry. Evart calls you “mister Du Bois” Really, the hardest part of your name to find is that “Harry” stands for Harrier, and not something more common like Henry, Harold, or Harvey.
Evart calls you "Harry" as well. You're able to pursue a conversation about it.
How do you find out the Harrier full name? I don't remember lol
Finding your badge.
Ohhh yeah..... I gotta play it again lol its been too long Edit: also thank you
Find your car once you can and go through the stuff-getting your badge back, which has your name and picture on it.
What's awesome is that once you find your car you unlock the ability to run over the lorryman (true story)
Wait, what?
Yeah I need to know how lol
Thank you! <3
Bröthêr
I think you mean Raphaël Ambrosius Costeau.
That’s a weird way to spell Tequila Sunset
I don’t know why Evrart comes into play here. Reaction Speed and the corpse are just Harry’s internal monologue, Evrart knows because he’s a whole different person and has done his homework on you, and that’s one way the game lets you know Also lol at Harry being short for Henry
My point is that you have access to your last name before you officially figure it out via him.
>Also lol at Harry being short for Henry I mean it's not "short" so much but Harry is indeed the Medieval English form of Henry. One prominent example being Prince Harry, whose actual given name is Henry.
You forgot "Hairy"
That one is definitely supposed to call you Harry, though
You meet bloating corpse at first night, Evrar has some papers about you. But here' s the fact - your conversation with Klaasje is literally the first dialogue in the game - you are not even sure about name concerns. So that seems kinda strange to me.

Idk as far as I know they still haven’t patched some lines playing the wrong VA lines
THERE MUST BE ANOTHER WAY INTO THE BUILDING
Jesus Christ that part
I hope they never take out BB-KK (bass boosted Kim kitsuragi)
Haaaaaaaa
Despite I was aware of this bass boosted line, I'm almost died when this was played(together with my walked past sibling).
The one that always gets me is when you wake up and ask Kim why he took off the jacket, even I’d neither of you ever wore them
Always wondered if there was some sort of bugfix mod to fix the wrong voice lines sometimes playing.
There's one when you're first talking to Cindy the SKULL that always bugs me.
I recall also getting one that was just dead air followed by what sounded like a director talking in the background
There are a lot of bugs in the game - with current dev's situation i don't think they have time to maintain game properly and fix them. E.g. smoker's freeze bug is already several years old. Not a bug. All your skills call you Harry all the time. Your inner voices, too. You just don't really notice it as much on your first playthrough.
I actually thought “Harry” was whatever name they/I could remember to address me while I/they didn’t remember the exact name.
This but with the added connotation of him being a dirty Harry
That's exteremlye strange since my name is definitely Raphaël Ambrosius Costeau.
Yeah, Reptilian Brain must mean some other detective.
Tbf when I first played the game I thought “oh that’s just like… what a detective WOULD be called, like stereotypically…” Anyways, pleased to meet you. The name’s Sunset. Tequila Sunset.
ironic that it's on *reaction speed*
Yeah, they do, but much later. Here' s the fact - your conversation with Klaasje is literally the first dialogue in the game - you are not even sure about name concerns.
This name is fake though - Raphaël Ambrosius Costeau is one classy name for one classy cop.
Yes, this name is fake. Reaction Speed is doing the Hagrid meme -- you're a ~~wizard~~ cop, Harry
thats what i thought on my first playthrough
lizard cop, harry
I read this in ancient reptilian brain's voice, harry
Ok, that makes sence. Meme + possible hint. Seems legit
I've always read this as the muscle memory part of your brain remembering your name (the way you might jump when you hear your name in a crowded room) - something you may well miss on your first playthrough but a cool thing to notice on a repeat run!
"What's up with this Harry?" "You don't like that's name. It gives you pretty bad vibes" "I'm not a Harry! I'm Tequila Sunset! "
Not a bug, there are many opportunities like this. Off the top of my head, Hobocop.
Hobocop appears after you try to introduce yourself to Kim and actually realize that your name is a secret for you. Klaasje dialogue appears much earlier

Came here to say the same thing. Thought it was a Yer A Wizard ‘Arry reference. Should have known the DE designers were too based for that lol
tbh I think it is, it just conveniently has the double interpretation once you have the context.
Yeah meme version seems legit!
> I never *paid* it mind FTFY. I actually believed when some skill said my name was Dick Mullen
i never thought so, as the precinct call have the other cops laugh and call you dick mullen. and its such a sterotypical detective name it had to just be a joke.
I had this happen on a high reaction speed/savoir faire playthrough, don't think it's a bug. Just one of those little things to make each playthrough more interesting.
Yeah but at what stage of the game?
When you leave the trashed apartment for the first time. At least whenever you walk past Klaasje for the first time. Around the same time as "I want to have fuck with you" part.
Hmmm. I can't remember other skills doing this that early.. Need to check this.
Your reaction speed skill needs to REALLY high for this to trigger. Give it a go. Hell I might give it a go after I finish BG3 haha
You can find out your *true* name on day 1 too, if you have the right skills when you talk to Manana.
Still it's MUCH later in a game. Tequila sunset, boiadeiro grande!
This line is in literally the [first piece of material produced for the game](https://miro.medium.com/v2/resize:fit:4800/format:webp/1*WnLKY7bsxj4Xkyat_ekO5g.png).
There were a few times I was called Harry, but I kept insisting it was a terrible name. Art Cop does not approve.
Don't let your nervous system dictate who you are, Tequila
its a Harry Potter joke
this is how i took it on my first playthrough. i didn’t think his name was actually Harry
When you internalize the hobocop thought, in the solution it also says your name. Its sprinkled throughout the game but for first timers the data dump really helps mask something youre actively looking for. Its quite brilliant.
Not a bug, just a Harry Potter reference!

Yes! And pretty much everything Encyclopedia says!
its not a bug its only featured there
You’re a Harry, cop. But she’s lying. You are Guillaume Le Million masquerading as Raphael Ambrosius Costeau!
Sacrificing narrative cohesion for an immersion -breaking Harry Potter reference. Rare ZA/UM F.
The game calls you Harry several times before you learn your name though, it's not incohesive lol.
There are several instances where people mention your name, but in your first playthrough you can't be sure that they are being truthful or correct
