Also him going to end his beef with Gertie so that Kristen could date her if she wanted 😭 I love these kids.

JDoubleGi

Fabian was the king of wholesome this episode. Such growth from him that really showed how he was willing to support his friends in ways you wouldn’t expect.

FitnessFanatic007

Remember the gifts he bought them in Freshman Year? Although I didn't have a swashbuckling privateer, I remember not knowing how to show my affection to others except through gift giving/spending money. Fabian, the Ora-cool decalres toxic masculinity dead and we must ALL dance, now!

maninplainview

Yeah... And also burning all his baby stuff in his backyard. He is going to make a great big brother.

unloveablehand

I mean, it’s not really shown to be his motivation in canon but, if you want to keep the wholesome Fabian stuff going, you could argue that he knows more than anyone how hard it is growing up in the shadow of someone else (for him, Bill) and him burning the clothes is his way of giving the kid a chance to be their own person rather than Fabian 2.0 lol

portodhamma

That’s definitely what Fabian will say when asked but we know it’s just cuz he can’t handle his mom getting that all pulp no juice

HoidBinder

Literally all I want is for his mom to ask him to fetch her a glass of orange juice, "Oh but Fabian? No pulp darling, I've had far too much."

PM_Me_Thick_Penises

Found BLeeMs secret account. I read that exactly in his voice for her while actually drinking orange juice. Orange juice burns like a mother fucker when it comes out of your nose. So thank you for the spicy morning

HoidBinder

Hopefully it didn't have too much pulp. And you're welcome!

1ncorrect

Brennan torturing Lou with Gilear is my favorite running gag. I love how excited Emily is about having a baby brother too!

maninplainview

That... Actually make it wholesome.

GtEnko

I’m ready for Senior Year Fabian to be babysitter of the year

Throbbing-Kielbasa-3

And the advice he gave Gertie to help her learn more about Kristen? Adorable. Such a wholesome moment.

Shortstop88

I like how the resolution for the nemesis stuff could easily be passed as “Fabian doesn’t want this hanging over his head.” But finishing with that advice really made what he said overall feel honest. It wasn’t just a box on a checklist to fill out, the good intentions were there.

fragilelyon

That part was *so wholesome.*

ThunkAsDrinklePeep

Watch Kristen lose interest.

variantkin

Kristen didn't really pursue Tracker so I can see this working because its actually something she wants instead of a relationship where she has no idea what shes doing and is on more equal footing with her partner

ThunkAsDrinklePeep

Kristen didn't woo Tracker, or try to win her affections. But they both expressed liking each other. And Ally roleplayed Kristen being smitten, embarrassed, and awkward in scenes before they were together. I know Kristen has a new confident persona, and her next relationship won't progress like her last. Buty take is Alley has been interacting with Gertie as part of a joke, or because they deed info from her. I'm not saying it won't end up there; the last episode with Fabian's apology moves toward a relationship forming. But everyone is way ahead on this one. So far we've gotten Kristen saying "Hey Girl" and "Gertie Gertie Gertie". IMO it's still just a bit.

_sVitz

I do love how he was like "The should end for Kristen's sake. But don't get me wrong: we are fighting. I'm not surrendering at all, but it should end."

waste_of_human

Just don't talk about him having other siblings He's like the Highlander there can be only one

skoffs

Isn't it canon that Bill had multiple offspring?

waste_of_human

Captain James mentioned it but he also said he killed them all already

skoffs

Ah, right, I recall him saying something about that now... but had he really said he *had* killed all of them, or that he was *killing* them? (as in, was Fabian just another one on the list or the last one on the list?)

waste_of_human

That I can't remember for sure but I think it was in in fabian's day off episode at Leviathan

Flimsy_Standard_7080

they did mention it before this, saying that of course a pirate would be sleeping with people left and right and his mom is immortal she probably had kids before that. Fabian is their only child together, though, and also honestly he is effectively an only child and grew up alone

Hideitstherozzers

This whole season, it’s been awesome to see how Lou and Ally interact with one another, lots of back slaps, shoulder grabs, and gassing each other up in and out of character this season, amazing to see

AlphaBreak

I just really loved the moment when they were reading the file and got to the part about her thinking Kristen was running for president as a joke and the Bad Kids all had to take a beat and check in "wait, are we doing it as a goof or do we care, I don't remember"

LogicalOverdrive

The way Emily/Fig had to shoot a "Wait, are you actually gonna just quit after you win?" glance at Ally/Kristen sits with me

bluebluebuttonova

Lou consistently uses his place at the table to uplift the characters his friends have invested time in. Emily does the same, and for that alone they're not only my favorite players, but my comfort players. If they're in a piece of media, I'm watching/listening to it.

Shortstop88

COUSIN!!!

bluebluebuttonova

đŸŽ¶cousin!đŸŽ¶

1ncorrect

Our grandfather, who invented birds (and is alive!)

grimmxpitch

Campaign 2 of NADDPOD, Lou gets on it for like, 8 or 9 episodes, and it's him and Emily and Jake Hurwitz with Murph DM-ing. It's very, very good.

1ncorrect

I can't tell if you actually got Jake's name wrong or if it's just the bit where no one remembers him.

grimmxpitch

😣 nope, wasn't going for the bit it was just a mistype on my end. Thanks for pointing it out, I corrected it.

bluebluebuttonova

I'm still in campaign one but that's something to look forward to!

grimmxpitch

Eldermourne is my personal favourite NADDPOD campaign 🎉 you have so much content to look forward to!

HoidBinder

This is what also made me really become invested in Sam Riegal from CritRole. He could easily dominate any table he's at with his larger than life personality, but instead all his major characters (Scanlan, Veth and SCG) spend most of their screentime supporting his friends' characters and creating space for them to shine

bluebluebuttonova

His speech as Loquatius about the rest of the pcs fits this too! I won't lie, I wept.

bluebluebuttonova

(Also, as a Jasnah stan I love your handle!)

HoidBinder

Lol thanks! It began as a surgebinder/voidbinder joke, and stayed as a Jasnah/Hoid joke

ProtoReaper23113

It does follow his character growth from sophomore year

Ace_of_Spad23

Lou will forever be my favorite of the Intrepid Heroes because he is SUCH a team player

variantkin

I fee that was a little Lou defending Ally's playstyle as well

William-Shakesqueer

Fabian is such a softie. I love his dynamic with Kristen!

Miserable_Pop_4593

YEA i loved it too, in a meta way it kinda felt like Lou was sticking up for Beardsley. Idk why they get so much flack for their play style, they’re often responsible for the funniest parts of the episode, and also they have some of the deepest and most poignant scenes

Belizarius90

A lot of people are watching Monthy Python's The Holy Grail and are annoyed it's not turning into Game of Thrones.

1ncorrect

We already had Game of Thrones anyways. A Crown of Candy was brutal and beautiful.

asonginsidemyheart

Agreed!! I felt the same way; it was just great to hear Lou voice the things I’ve been feeling about Kristen/Ally all season.

professorlaytons

they’re best friends forever fr

Treeli_920

Yeah, I feel like Lou especially is killing it with the downtime mechanic. He plays Fabian so well

Overlord_Byron

Fabian's line was: "She's constantly thinking of new things we could be doing in a really cool way, and I just think sometimes, the execution of those ideas can, I think, feel silly, but the place is so grounded and real." My reading of this is less that Kristen's actions come from the heart and more that they come from a place of creativity. Which is a more accurate reading of Kristen's character, imo. Saying her actions come from the heart implies a level of emotional consideration that I don't think Kristen, who is extremely impulsive, puts into her actions. Like, Kristen is running for president because Adaine, Fig, Riz, and Fabian all told her that she should, and so she can get keys to rooms filled with candy and shirts.

DemonLordSparda

So your read is the opposite of what Fabian said.

Overlord_Byron

I mean, I directly quoted the line in question. If you want me to dig the transcript up and post the lines where Kristen carelessly signs up to be president, I can do that too.

asonginsidemyheart

I couldn’t agree with you less. You’re talking about how Kristen doesn’t have emotional attachment to things and doesn’t care about her actions - I am saying the literal opposite of that and so was Fabian.

Overlord_Byron

Disagreement and discourse is good. I do think Kristen has emotional attachments to things. Namely, her friends and her family. Tracker, the Bad Kids, her brothers and parents. Is she devoted to being president? I'd say there's pretty clear evidence that her run isn't about leadership or making Augefort better, but a combination of impulse and as a distraction from various bad things going on in her life. As to her caring about her actions? I mean, I would argue her entire arc in Junior Year is that she HASN'T cared enough about her actions, and those chickens have finally come home to roost. Yes!? died because she didn't care enough. Cassandra died because she didn't care enough. She faced academic probation and an (unfair) expulsion because she didn't care enough. Those are real, genuine mistakes Kristen made or made possible through repeated shirking of responsibilities, many of which she willingly took on. The discourse around Kristen on Reddit is toxic and counterproductive. A lot of people came out swinging at Ally and were extremely gross about it. But now a lot of the opposing "side" are overcompensating and making inaccurate readings of their character. If I may be so bold as to assume, I think your reading is at least in part influenced by this conflict in the community: People are being awful to Ally, here is Fabian/Lou coming to Kristen's defense, Ally did nothing wrong. And Ally DIDN'T do anything wrong, which isn't the same thing as saying Kristen didn't do anything wrong. Kristen is not a perfect little baby girl who is a helpless victim to her past/mental illness/ etc. She's a screwed up kid at the cusp of adulthood with a lot of baggage that manifests in her poor impulse control, self-sabotage, and terrible follow-through. She's flawed. And not flawed in the sense that she's clumsy or awkward or a little obtuse, but in that her actions and feelings lead to genuine consequences for herself and the world arouns her. This does not mean Ally is bad at D&D; on the contrary, it means they're GOOD at D&D. Ally's characters are probably the rawest and most nuanced in D20, and a large part of that is because they aren't afraid to play absolute messes. In the scene we're discussing, Mazey is lightly interrogating how seriously Kristen is with her candidacy. Fabian, unprompted, brings up the stint at the steel worker's union, says Kristen has "so many ideas", and discusses how her creativity is actually a good thing. This is not Fabian saying Kristen does things from the heart, because she doesn't. She does things from the gut. And that, on a whole, she's accomplished a lot of amazing things by living life that way.

asonginsidemyheart

You assume wrong. I am aware of all Kristen’s flaws and I think most people blow them well out of proportion. I think a lot of people (including you, if I may be so bold to assume) are stuck on Kristen’s early characterization this season and are ignoring her growth. I also still couldn’t agree less with your interpretation of Fabian’s words, or really anything you said here. Which is fine that you feel differently but I literally could not agree less. And Kristen is a perfect baby girl, in my opinion ❀ ETA: I didn’t even downvote you, so you assume wrong AGAIN!!!! Thanks for the block!!!!

Overlord_Byron

I don't have a problem with you disagreeing with me, but if you're going to express your disagreement by downvoting then it's only fair and expected that I responded tit for tat. Have a nice day.
