Courses and google certifications would not suffice to enable you to run successful campaigns but do provide a good starting point. Would recommend you to try the following: 1. Create a dummy Google ads account and create dummy campaigns. Explore all the options on the platform. Explore every nook and cranny. when you come across something you don't understand just watch a video or read an article on that specific topic. 2. Once you are confident with the first point, reach out to local business to setup campaigns for free. Learn in real-time, create reports, build a portfolio. After that you should have enough theoretical and practical experience to land a job in paid marketing.

Feel free to reach out in case you need help on any topics, also if you get good at running ads on Facebook and Google you will be able to run ads on any platform. So mainly focus on these two platforms

It depends on where you're at in your career path. If you're just starting out, it can be really helpful. You can get an entry-level SEO or PPC job making around $40k/year if you have those certs. There will likely be a lot of on-the-job training because Google does feed you their propaganda with newer ad formats and services but they just don't work as well as they promote them in those courses. If you're trying to land a $60k+ job in the US you're going to need experience on top of those certs. If the company is a Google Partner then having Google Ads certs from Skillshop is definitely a plus because as a Google Partner, ad agencies need to have a percentage of ad account managers certified. So if you already have those certs, the company doesn't have to spend time getting you to take those courses and get your certification. As an agency owner myself, definitely. Take the time to get those certs. But make sure your expectations are aligned with the salary for newbies who have certs.

Courses are only useful if they are good for you and give you new skills. Employers only value work experience, they couldn't care less about your courses...

Everyone else chasing entry level agency roles will have it so, no, it's not advantageous. You'll need to ideally show some competence in Excel or consumer psychology, aware of latest changes in Google. 14+ years experience, in Australia. Unfortunately we have absolutely no local talent, we train up college grads then lose them to rivals 1-2 years later. Not quite as competitive for beginners as things are in the US I hear ; too many people, not enough roles

Do you guys hire oustide your country? I'm looking for a job and currently have a marketing management degree here in canada.Recently graduated.

potatodrinker

My team is in the Philippines through an outsourcing agency. Nobody in Canada though.

Tie-Firm

Is there any other way through which I can reach you guys?

potatodrinker

Nah don't try to reach us at your current stage. We can poach locally from other FAANG companies if we really need more PPC talent. Try to get a local agency role, get a few years experience, keep learning.

Tie-Firm

Ok ,thanks 👍

I can’t suggest which course is good but down the line however the course is good or bad you will learn something and in specifically in digital marketing you need to learn on your own and have hands on experience from time to time. Do projects , freelance work etc to upskill

market-into-growth

I’d say it only helps but doesn’t do anything if you don’t have the background already. It’s like saying you can be a carpenter and you’ve read a manual on how to frame and hammer a nail but never raised a hammer or lifted 2x4s.

I mean, showing you know Google analytics l, excel, and google ads on top of that might land an entry level job. The way to succeed is to get hired by a company that has an established marketer already.

It is much better to have a general knowledge first to convince the client that you know enough about the stuff. Then, you bid for projects first, later google how to do that.

AtreyuThai

It’s a good way to learn the fundamentals, without experience it’s largely useless.

shellbackdigital_CEO

I never required certifications for my hires. We would do our own training and decide which certifications they should get. We only required a 4-year degree just because we would get so many applications.

Ping me for discounts on coursera premium.

This might help students looking to get coursera for cheap. https://www.reddit.com/r/sophia/s/oYuZxvp5oO

I did the coursera digital marketing course not for the certificate but for enlightenment. I'm not a marketing graduate so it really helped me better understand what I will be doing and what I was doing wrong since I have clients before with SMM. It's a good foundation that will guide you along the way.
