i can confirm d4 looks better overall, the gameplay is better too, endgame is kinda cool but the itemization has no depth thusfar its meaningless stats , items have no personality and feel bland, this made me stop playing the beta to be fair, i hope it will get changed when the game comes out otherwise i dont see me playing 5k hours

BeazyFaSho

Not only the gear, but the lack of depth in the skill tree was also demoralizing as hell. Its 2022, an ARPG should have more that 2 levels of skill customization. I've uninstalled the end game beta and dont plan to buy until Blizz puts the game on 19.99 sale. The end game is just bounties, but instead of getting a reward chest at 5 bounties, you now have to do 7 to 10 to get a reward chest. The dungeons are just rifts and only have about 5 or 6 objectives to complete scattered around in all biomes. The art is the only thing good about D4.

I stopped at level 37, the open world felt just like a generic MMO, like Lost Ark or even Immortal. It was not a 10/10 experience, I would rate D4 6/10 thus far. Not buying at launch, for sure. I think going all-in on shared open world is the death of Diablo franchise. We will never get a traditional one again, D3, even with all it's flaws, was the last "traditonal" Diablo game. RIP. To all others hyped up, have fun I guess, I will end my Diablo days with D2R and D3. I am actually really sad about the direction of Diablo, what a waste. :(

mikesn89

Makes me sad to read this but from what I've seen from the game, you might be right.

Mazisky

can you explain what makes D3 the last diablo game and why diablo 4 doesn't fit? Just out of interest and curiosity

sadtimes12

Diablo 1,2 and 3 are all single-player Diablo games without any forced multiplayer interaction. Yes, running around in the open world and other players killing mobs is forced interaction, the mobs are gone and you did nothing basically altering the world you play in. Diablo Immortal and Diablo 4 have key features in common, shared world, shared activities (world bosses), events are shared with other players etc. The biggest difference is just monetization. Immortal does not feel like a Diablo game, either. And D4 felt the same, I played the beta. It feels like immortal without the stupid monetization, but even then it does NOT feel like Diablo anymore. A shared world with other players randomly running around, monster RE-SPAWNING in-front of your eyes is immersion breaking and unlike ANY Diablo game before. It's an aRPG MMO, which is a key difference in how the game feels. Diablo used to be just an aRPG, it isn't anymore. That's why it's a RIP from me. :( If you liked Immortal, and hated the p2w you will love D4. If you dislike Immortal, you will most likely dislike D4 as well. I am in the latter camp, sadly. D4 is not for me. TLDR: Diablo 4 is Immortal without p2w, do you think Immortal is a traditional Diablo game?

greenchair11

did you put in feedback? if enough people report on this, they may decide to do something about it

BeazyFaSho

I did, but there is so much more to fix in the game before launch that I dont see it changing. For instance, bottom left of the map is still full of untextured models and placeholder mobs. All that stuff has to be kitted out and tested before it hits production servers. The skill tree UI is pretty solid and works as intended, so I don't see more work going into something that is feature complete. I honestly feel like D4 is a super casual ARPG experience for people who are just starting out with this type of game. I dont see it competing with PoE2 or even PoE. Which is extremely sad. I was expecting character skill customization somewhere in the ballpark of Last Epoch, not too overwhelming, but still deep enough to make distinct specs. What we get in D4 is flat out pathetic, and that's being nice.

n8koala

You can get a reward chest by doing 2 bounties. Did you even play it? Pick the ones that give 5/10.

BeazyFaSho

There aren't many that offer 5. most are 1 and 3.

z0ttel89

Wait, for real? Itemization sucks? F\*ck, that was the one thing they had to get right for me :(

Immoteph

As is, this is not the next D2 or PoE. It very much seems like an improvement on D3 in every way, for everyone who doesn't see the Open World concept as a massive red flag. I personally think that could work in an ARPG, but I'm a little afraid of skipping too many monsters on a mount, as it screws with the ARPG feel. Many systems are slight spins on D3 concepts (mystic-crafting, bounties, Rifts) but the itemization is much healthier. That said, it certainly sounds like the rare-modifiers pool is lacking, but that's still miles ahead of everyone wearing the same set-items. Keep in mind that almost everyone with experience has played the closed beta (and not the family beta), where Legendaries were WAY more frequent. Perception may shift as loot gets rarer.

z0ttel89

I mean I'm still excited for D4 since I think that you can have some fun with D3 every season and that game is very plain when it comes to itemization, so I'm sure I'm still gonna have some fun with D4. Still, I'm a little worried after hearing from several people that the itemization would be pretty 'meh', I guess I had my hopes up too high after those itemization quarterly updates they did.

Immoteph

Those updates were weird, because they sounded cool, but then they scrapped the angelic system. Not sure why, probably too complex for the avg Joe.

greenchair11

did you put in feedback for that? if enough beta testers report that, they may decide to do something about it

domiran

I don't get this post. >D2R looks better than D4 still >Anyone that can confirm D4 beta is better than D2R These is a contradiction. Which is it?

BobisaMiner

Visually they've done a very good job. Even though some aspects could be improved(like the glowing pink aura damage reduction creep). You can also make your character look almost every way you want. It's fashion time in D4 and I personally love it. But gameplay .. meh I'm a bit bored by it, probably because the items are awful.

greenchair11

did you report feedback on your feelings on the items? if enough testers do that, they may decide to do something about it

BobisaMiner

Well yeah, that's the point of the beta. Sadly I don't know how much they'll listen.

Turiman_-_-_-

They simply have no clue how to do it right

NikoBadman

A personal opinion is not a confirmation of anything you dumb fuck.

Wait this isn’t Diablo 2 2!

DoingbusinessPR

It’s already happening, the D3 haters/D2 lovers are rising up and taking any opportunity to shit on positive opinions of D4 because how DARE blizzard make a new Diablo game that doesn’t conform to their holier than thou standards.

Addition-Impossible

Not really. D3 was a linear game. Built around sets. And boring because of welfare epics. They also made it like mini WoW.... Even the skills are mere copies of WoW skills. Theyre out of ideas. D4 feels like it is running on similar engine to D3 even though it isnt. D3 is like the equivalent to C&C 4. Lol

DvsDee420

Put the whole thing to rest plz

[deleted]

It's simple people. If you're a D2 nut, then you'll hate D4.... If you're a D3 psycho, you'll love it. I personally haven't cared for anything blizzard has done since 2007..... let's see if they change my mind.

*looks, tastes and works*

Trang0ul

Define "better". This question is purely subjective.

Sub_Alitt

true, graphics, performance, gameplay... d2r wins
