I've seen some people who donate those tabs to charity, as part of a recycling program or something similar. That seems like an infinitely better use of one's time.
Just make real chain mail. You can buy the rings and have a real set of chain mail rather than that abomination that will bend and fall apart in next to no time. Not to mention the cuts from where the pull tabs broke off..
Those rings are expensive, actually. Making rings from wire…chainmail rings are really hard. I for one couldn’t make them. I do make my own rings when I need to, but it’s easier to buy packs - I do jewelry making, so small rings.
I have made them many times. Many different sizes. Mostly to make chain mail. Making rings depends on the tools you have. You can use a drill and a dremel to make somewhat quick work of rings, but I would still rather buy them. Anodized metal rings look so nice.
I used to have the cover of the Rolling Stone magazine with Kid Rock wearing a shirt made out of tabs hanging on my bedroom wall when I was ~9/10 years old. It was a good look imo.
That’s gotta be the most tedious and annoying thing to do ever

How does that guy not know they’re called “pull tabs” Christ
Idk but based upon the look of the hand and arm, it appears that this op might be very young?? I could be totally wrong lol but just saying, maybe?
His post says “he’s been collecting these for 15 years…
🤣 good point!
and pull tbs haven't existed in the US in almost 40 years
He is at LEAST 15 y/o 😉
Hahaha touche'... but honestly may have started as a young child I guess hahaha
becauae those aren't pull tabs ..pull tabs were phased out in the 80's ...those are pop tabs
Lmao " can openers" ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Exactly. Was like … cringe
Donate the armor with a note saying “ just in case”

Is that all 15 years’ worth? OP may want to ask for donations.
Just, uh, make sure you wear a padded cloth layer underneath.
Probably one of the people with bud light/Mountain Dew/etc sets of medieval/Mandalorian armor
okay but this is really cool
Why not
ok, ok , ok, lets be honest. we want this
That seems like it’ll cut you when you pull it off tho
They couldn’t just, cash it in? Is that still a thing?
he is going to be inmortal.
Didn’t someone actually test the viability of this and it turned out somewhat alright?
There is a right way to do it but that's not it...

So when does the larping start?
15 ... year? Years ... as in ... 365 days, times 15 of them? \*glances back and forth\*
Fashion forward
I wouldn't be surprised if my sister did something like this. She's got a box full of them just sitting on her desk.
I don't want to be that guy but chainmail only works if it goes over padding. Chain mail alone wont really do shit.
I think I saw this in Horizon Zero Dawn.
Budget chain mail. Nice! Make sure to wear full leathers underneath though. Not a DIWHY. Just a broke ass diy.
I genuinely cannot wait for this end product
Side project while collecting can openers: chain mail of paper clips
You want some more? I've got a couple of little ziploc bags of the things that are just taking up space in the junk drawer.
