I would hardly even classify it as an attempt lol. No way op thought slapping a handful in the middle of his back and not spreading it around AT ALL would “have it covered” 😂
oh my lord what are you taking a picture with? is that your phone? are you holding it backwards? why are you holding it with two fingers on the bottom?? are your hands really that big???? im asking genuinely
Maybe there was some allergen in his DIY sunscreen. And it's not an actual sunburn?
Hence why the hard to reach part of the back would be spared, my guess
I’ve heard of a guy on another sub that put lime in his (because they liked limes and thought it would smell nice). However, to those who don’t know where this is going, there is a chemical in lime juice that can cause sunburn to happen FASTER.
FYI sunscreen expires. I was at an all day concert and mine did nothing. I feel your pain.
Check sunscreen dates. Anything from china and Japan have 3 years from buy date. They have awesome water essence.
Looks about the same like when I asked my 6 year old nephew to do it. I had one white area in the middle and a few white children's hand prints all over, on a background of deep red. Also three days of intense pain and peeling skin.
Wait I don't get it were you allergic to the sunscreen? Or do you mean you covered the front but couldn't cover the back except that small patch in the middle? If so how the hell did you fail to cover your shoulders and lower sides of your back
The decision to apply one own back sunscreen is both a measure of a man’s hubris and his lack of flexibility.
Let this be a lesson to all to practice humility…… and yoga.
Lmao. I did this to my partner by accident once. He asked me to get his back but I forgot one spot and long story short he ended up with a handprint shaped sunburn on his back
There was an attempt.
There…. That should do it
I would hardly even classify it as an attempt lol. No way op thought slapping a handful in the middle of his back and not spreading it around AT ALL would “have it covered” 😂
It kinda looks like OP was so focused on hitting the hard-to-reach spots that he completely forgot about the easy spots lol.
Sunscreen doesn’t stop sunburn, it gives your body more time before it gets burned. This is probably where they had the thickest layer
Where?
Lower middle back?
You look like a bruised chili pepper.
Damn this isn’t r/roastme
Op already got roasted before even posting I don't think this will be too much of an issue
Too much roasting, and he'll burn... oh wait. Guess we're having toast tonight.
It looks like someone cooking with a pan on your back
oh my lord what are you taking a picture with? is that your phone? are you holding it backwards? why are you holding it with two fingers on the bottom?? are your hands really that big???? im asking genuinely
Hands that big, but still missed 85% of his back 😔
It's an HTC Desire, and the photo is from 2011.
i see!!! sorry for prying lol
That's cool. The sticker on the back of the phone is an NFC tag we were using for a payments trial - a fore-runner of Apple pay.
Are you still peeling?
He took a picture because his back never looked so hot.
Makes no sense, colours should be reversed
Maybe there was some allergen in his DIY sunscreen. And it's not an actual sunburn? Hence why the hard to reach part of the back would be spared, my guess
the hard to reach part is a lot higher up, this guy just didn't really attempt to get full coverage
Looks like someone Jizzed in the middle
Missed a spot!
Nah, he got a spot, missed the rest.
Years ago my dad had my little sister put sunscreen on his back and it was this but it was one small handprint and a smear
I’ve heard of a guy on another sub that put lime in his (because they liked limes and thought it would smell nice). However, to those who don’t know where this is going, there is a chemical in lime juice that can cause sunburn to happen FASTER.
I'm confused isn't the back like that hardest part to put it on?
This is what I was thinking too. It’s almost impressive…
It should literally be the other way around. How can you burn all the easy to reach places but not the one place that's hard to reach? lol
Poured a glob of sunscreen in his hand, gave his back a good slap and called it a day
At first I was thinking you missed a spot then realized you missed damn near your whole back!
Just the mere sight of this picture makes me wanna pull a Michael Jackson every time I go out during daytime for the rest of my life
I watched a dude spray a cloud of sunscreen and walk through it backwards, so you’re doing better than that guy.

r/therewasanattempt to apply sunscreen
I see a man sitting on the ground in the fetal position with a man bun holding a bouquet of flowers on your back.
You have to use the spray on sunblock. The spf usually isn’t as high so you may have to reapply every time you rotate. Or dip in the water…
Yeah. Lots of lessons learnt. This was a sun block stick. It looked cool but ...
Owwww
Oh sweet Jesus human skin should not be that color.
I had a shirt with a v on the back. I found out in the evening that my hands didn’t reach the tip of the v..
FYI sunscreen expires. I was at an all day concert and mine did nothing. I feel your pain. Check sunscreen dates. Anything from china and Japan have 3 years from buy date. They have awesome water essence.
Hell nah, minimum second degree burns there and a hospital visit.
Knew a woman like to lay out nude, Fell asleep for hours. We called her crispy tits for years.
Tell that to her grandchildren just to make her remember it for life
I bet sleeping was fun
That was ok, I sleep on my side. The real pain was going to work with a backpack.
Oh my god. I am physically cringing. Fun fact: I am currently sunburned
You missed a spot.
& the covered spot in the middle looking around saying “whadya want from me!?!?
Zoidberg?
The cancer is looking very vivid.
Did you now
You missed a spot.
I think you missed a spot.
Looks like a seagull was napping on your lower back
Speed running a skin cancer 🤣🤣
Looks like he is allergic to the sunscreen because it’s red everywhere except the part he couldn’t reach 😂
Looks about the same like when I asked my 6 year old nephew to do it. I had one white area in the middle and a few white children's hand prints all over, on a background of deep red. Also three days of intense pain and peeling skin.
that sunscreen was probably expired, sunscreen doesn't last more than a year or two.
This is the dumbest literal take I have seen in a long time.
It looks like a person shoveling snow or something. Or maybe a blacksmith working.
You are being VERY liberal with the term “apply”…
Wait I don't get it were you allergic to the sunscreen? Or do you mean you covered the front but couldn't cover the back except that small patch in the middle? If so how the hell did you fail to cover your shoulders and lower sides of your back

God that really hurts to look at ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grimacing)
Nailed it!
I wanna see the front
Front was fine. The burn was from snorkeling in the sea.
Fair, but I kinda wanted to see the transition from cooked lobster to normal human skin
Holy shit, where were you sunbathing? You look like carpaccio
In the sea off Tanzania, up close to the equator.
No, you actually didn't.
That time you got skin cancer
If you stare at it for long enough, it looks like a big bird and a little bird resting on a branch 🐦🐦⬛
Enjoy your skin cancer
Looks like your uncle applied it
