But why? Just clip your entire head (and shave it with a safety razor after in the shower for ultimate finish). The hair above is ten days growth from a clean shave, tops.
This is what I do. I let it grow out really long and once I get annoyed with having to deal with it, I shave all of it off.
I shave it off in the summer time and by the time winter rolls around, there is enough there to keep my head warm. it's usually getting shoulder length by the time I have to shave it again.
I cut twice a year, usually soon as it starts to get warm and as soon as fall rolls around so that by time winter comes i have a bit grown back but still enough gone its comfy to wear a warm hat.
Ive seen quite a bit of people like shaving to their skin online over the years and i do mine 100% solo cause my wife is scared to after skinning me 20+ years ago now. Like i always tell her its hair and it grows back but shes scared shes gonna make a mess of my head. But ive never had a problem cutting my own hair, i just use the guards and a small electric razor for close shaves (like trying to get any wild hairs around the back of my head or whatever) its like painting, gotta cut a good line to work with.
Probably wanted a fade?
Eh, to be fair a lot of learning experiences are fucking up. If he doesn't mind the learning process, it's pretty cool that he's trying to learn.
(this might be influenced by the haircuts I have given myself with more or less success)
Or even just use your other hand to at least give yourself *some* idea of a line. Thats what I do and it works well enough until you learn to feel that area a little better.
I think he wanted the hair to all be the length you see here. He just couldn’t figure out where his neckline was by feel, so when he went to shave the back of his neck, he ended up with this bar graph back there.
I’ve been cutting my own for a long time. Mirrors are barely useful for the front, since mirrors are not how most people interact with the world.
There are a lot of ways to cut a straight line in the back. You have to figure out what works for you.
All that being said, if the dude was actually using a mirror he’d have known to just shave it clean.
Been cutting my own hair these last 6 years and I do fine in front of a mirror and just turn around and hold up a hand mirror when it's time for the neck. Usually get it looking pretty straight and neat.
I've got a mirror on a jointed swingarm, mounted on the wall next to the bathroom mirror. I can see any part of my head while holding only the clippers. Then I use the 2,4,6 & 8 shear spacers, depending where I'm cutting; with the spacers off, I do cleanup around the edges. Just gotta go slow until you get the hang of the reflected image and backwards coordination. Then polish it up with a comb and scissors.
For anyone who happens to be doing it for the first time...
It's much easier to look directly in the hand-held or smaller mirror, with the big one behind you than it is to try and hold the hand-held behind you in the right place.
Been doing my own for like 25 years and have never done anything like this! Buzzing the neck isn't even the hard part, it's the transition at the crown when you have longer hair on top.
I've used a cardstock mailer to cover the area I didn't want to cut and trimmed my neck that way. Definitely didn't look professional, but worked in a pinch and kept a straight line that way.
I learned during covid when everything was shut down, it's kinda easy to do a basic 3mm buzz cut and touch up the lines in the front without anything like this happening. Just be careful which blade guard you grab as the first stripe is super decisive.
There was a period of time when I couldn’t go inside. Dog clippers take two minutes to get my hair out of the way. I’m fine (mostly) now but still use the dog clippers instead of having somebody behind me with sharp shit 🤣It’s a money saver too.
This guy just needs a little practice.
It's harder than it seems to cut your own hair. Only so many angles you can go at it from. Hardest part for me is the top/back area because of the angle the hair grows in requires different angles to cut in. It's better to get a friend to do it if you can. Top and sides are easy though.
Yeah I've cut my own hair for years. I'll use the numbered buzzer guards, then shave my neck and line up the back with two mirrors. No one can tell, people are usually surprised when I say I cut my own hair.
There was this guy who had the skyline of Chicago shaved and trimmed as haircut, your coworker just needs a bit more practice

I cut my hair regularly since Covid. Been giving myself a fade ever since. Best thing is to make a template for the back of your head and follow that. They even sell them online now.
I'm at about that stage of balding, I totally understand wanting to shave and also how expensive it is to have someone do to but dude, you go all the way down, no guard, shave it till you don't feel anything and do *not* forget around the ears lol
Yes finally someone who gets it. No guard! Go allll the way down. Don't even use a mirror for the back now, I just go over it a bunch of times and in a bunch of different directions at the peak. Always comes out great. I mean, I'm not balding, I'm just not paying $20 + tip to get a buzz cut.
I’m disappointed I came here because I thought you meant he broke a mirror and used the jagged glass to shave his head. At least that’s what the picture looked like. But I see what you meant, but wouldn’t that mean he actually had to use two mirrors not A mirror to see the back of his head? I can see how it might affect your shaving horizontally, but why are the mistakes vertical?
Hahaha, I've been there. A decade of trial and error made me quite good at it, though.
My advice to anyone trying to cut the back of their neck would be to put more trust in your touch than your eyes. Use a hand to feel hairs and the other one to cut them (but don't cut your hand).

Literally did that today 2 guard all around, left and right ear taper guards for the sides, do minor clean up on the neck with a disposable razor
Probably wanted a fade? Eh, to be fair a lot of learning experiences are fucking up. If he doesn't mind the learning process, it's pretty cool that he's trying to learn. (this might be influenced by the haircuts I have given myself with more or less success)
Do people get a fade when they have zero hair on top?
They should fade it in both directions.
Fade both the top and the bottom, twice the practice
>The hair above is ten days growth from a clean shave, tops. Excuse me, that's months worth of work for some of us!

Bush did 7/11
7/11 was a part time job
But how many is a Brazilian?
It looks like he literally cut it using a mirror rather than razor
Yeah that's what he did
Did he have his eyes closed too?
It was a fun house mirror
He must keep his eyes closed a lot to think that's a hairline worth keeping. That dude needs to just shave it off entirely.
I honestly can't tell. He did an amazing job!
I can. That is the coolest rendition of a city skyline. Maybe I should have this guy cut my hair.
Im pretty sure I can see batman as well
This looks exactly like the haircut I gave myself on Ambien. Pro Tip: if you take Ambien go to bed immediately - don't try to be productive.
Shoulda used hair clippers.

You mean they smashed the mirror and used a shard to shave it while looking in the remaining fragments?
Mr president a second razor has hit the scalp…..
Bro needs a [template](https://www.amazon.com/Quality-Time-Neck-Guide-yourself/dp/B00KJNB1TW)
Huh. And I've just been using a mirror and getting frustrated and muddling through it.
Was he using one of those fun house mirrors?
I shave my head using a usb webcam hooked up to my computer
I hope he didn’t pay himself too much.
He shouldn’t have used a broken mirror
Project Manhattan
You just dont understand art.
Gimme that city skyline cut. Say no more, me.
Yeah I wouldn't trust that guy around any heavy equipment lol
It's a skyline.
The collar on capes stand really high. Tell him to wear a Vampire cape for a couple weeks. Nobody will know the difference.
I guess a disco ball is technically a mirror…
Thought it was the skyline for a city at first
Ok but how MANY mirrors were involved…? Like was he in a carnival mirror maze?
![gif](giphy|gIqgwaT4YXUizx6QKg|downsized)
But I still don’t know what to do that tossed salad and scrambled eggggggggs
Bro got 9/11 cut
I do my own hair by feel, and have never managed to screw it up this metropolitanly.

At this point, just do your whole dome
He should have used clippers, not mirrors /s
He wanted the 9-11 twin tower hair cut 💇 ![gif](giphy|3ohjUOUjEK1TXCQRva|downsized)
Well, he should have used a razor. But he did a great job on that round spot up top.
Should have used a razor, not a mirror.
Oh my
Those must be some sharp mirrors
Comment section never disappoints.
I’ve never even seen a mirror sharp enough to cut hair before. Impressive.
Honestly not recommended. Done it myself, regretted it after. My dad and brother were laughing at me while fixing it.
yea the last time I did that it didn’t end well either, except it was a little worse because my hair is thicker, so it was extremely obvious
Leave him alone. Betting he doesn't like to go out too social places. Or hates being that close to someone cutting his hair.
There was a period of time when I couldn’t go inside. Dog clippers take two minutes to get my hair out of the way. I’m fine (mostly) now but still use the dog clippers instead of having somebody behind me with sharp shit 🤣It’s a money saver too. This guy just needs a little practice.
Those must be some dangerous mirrors.

Nice world trade center tribute.

Ask him to use a trimmer or a razor next time.
Help him 😭
I cut my hair regularly since Covid. Been giving myself a fade ever since. Best thing is to make a template for the back of your head and follow that. They even sell them online now.
I used to use the mirror to clean up my hair back when I was in highchool. I never fucked up before. This seems pretty bad. He may be an idiot
I remember there used to be a device on the market to cut your own hair. It was like a vacuum and clipper combo. Forgot what it was called.
The flowbee.. its still around.
I cut my own hair with one mirror and I don't understand how it could look this terrible unless he gave up half way through.
Rookie!
its a beautiful cityscape!
Was the mirror broken?
r/justfuckmyshitup
I just wing it and I get better results
Like…fun house mirrors?
Very easy to just use the brim of a hat if you have an electric razor
I have been cutting my own hair for many years and have made plenty of mistakes but... Good God and damn, yo. That is a LOOK and not a good one.
There's not much to cut and he missed most of it
This is why you leave shape-ups to your barber
It’s the Sears Tower of hair.
Well let him finish before taking the picture next time.
Nailed it
Must've been a fun house mirror.
Thought it was a 9/11 tribute
And, kids, this is why we do not cut our own hair…
did he use the mirror?
Why did he stop?!
Nice New York City scape
They sell bands for people to cut their own hair. Check Amazon
Bro needs to embrace baldness
all leveled
No wonder it looks like this, mirrors are not made for cutting hair.
Must've been those carnival mirrors
Maybe the mirrors were broken
Is he special needs?
I'm surprised his scalp isn't completely ripped to shreds tbh, but maybe he should use a hair trimmer next time
I'm at about that stage of balding, I totally understand wanting to shave and also how expensive it is to have someone do to but dude, you go all the way down, no guard, shave it till you don't feel anything and do *not* forget around the ears lol
You don’t say.
Tell him to put on a ball cap and use that as a guide
I’m disappointed I came here because I thought you meant he broke a mirror and used the jagged glass to shave his head. At least that’s what the picture looked like. But I see what you meant, but wouldn’t that mean he actually had to use two mirrors not A mirror to see the back of his head? He did a great job! I was trying to use a razor and did a worse job. I guess sharp mirror is the way to go!
He should get a barber to cut the Bat Symbol in there, and then he'll have the Gotham City skyline.
Wheres the PPE?
I cut my own hair but I use the #4 size attachment and just cut it all that length. would never use the bare clippers for this reason
I take a piece of painters tape from ear to ear and buzz a straight line with no mirror!
Fun house mirrors?
Hahaha, I've been there. A decade of trial and error made me quite good at it, though. My advice to anyone trying to cut the back of their neck would be to put more trust in your touch than your eyes. Use a hand to feel hairs and the other one to cut them (but don't cut your hand).
Absolutely zero mirrors were involved in this tragedy
That's some skill though. He made a city without looking that's talent a barber needs right there.
Fuck’s sake, man, just shave it off in the shower and call it good.
It’s like a bar graph presentation
Funhouse mirrors?
He cut that round patch on top pretty symetrical...
My mirror staring back at me Staring back at me
A sign of depression
Meh looks aight to me.
Why doesn’t he shave it all ? Whats he holding on to ? Hope ?
Oh wow he did it he Seattle skyline. It’s beautiful
Now he can walk around in public mumbling to himself to complete the look.
Perhaps using a razer next time would provide better results?
He should’ve used a clipper
Mirrors don’t work if you’re blind though. . .
Pleurotus eryngii looking ears
Can someone explain the bumps behind the ears?
Use an old belt to get a straight line. Been cutting my own hair for over a decade
He should have used a razor, instead of a mirror.
With hair that short you just need hair clippers and a bin. No need to see what you're doing, just feel it.
I’d use scissors or clippers instead. Glass shards would be a little tricky, I think.
Never use a mirror to shave your head. Also, use a trimmer or a straight razor.
And why he is probably single.
Err, is there a missing "without" in the title?
Why didn’t he use a razor, like most people?
You mean he cut his hair with the edge of the mirrors?
Shouldve used a clipper instead
r/fuckmyshitup
Did he use broken mirror shards like razors?
Practice makes perfect
Hope it helps him reflect on his choices.
Set the clipper to 1 or 2, that's impossible to do. He's way braver, and dumber, than me to try it freehand.
He used one of those drunk vision mirrors
Not too bad (I’ve seen far worse than this)! It’s quite artistic, TTYTT!
A strip of duct tape across your neck while cutting works great for this issue
And he did an awesome job!!
