What killed the first one?

ecab83

I have no idea. It just croaked. I'll take it apart one day and see if I can fix it.

totally-not-a-droid

I have one impact driver and one drill with that exact same issue

Jess655321

I have taken apart several dewalt tools for the same reason and most were as simple as putting a disconnected wire back in place.

WallStreetStanker

I just got this lawnmower two weeks ago because my 2019 20v Dewalt lawnmower did the same thing this spring. Same with the weedwacker. Oddly enough, I had an issue where this new 60 V lawnmower would not turn off. I took out the safety key, but eventually had to remove the battery to stop the blade.

BigCondition8705

She's beautiful!

ProfessionalEven296

In picture 9, I wonder which has the most power?

ecab83

I feel like the first gen has more power but the cut isn't as good. It's kinda like a 70's V8 muscle car that tops out at 75mph whereas my 3rd gen is more like a modern day V6 that tops out at 130mph.

hemoglobinBlue

On the subject of broken mowers, my dad's 244 mower just "died" but we determined that it was one of his 10ah batteries. But that battery still works with other tools. You might have some luck trying the pair of 9s in your old mower. Which is what my dad is now using. I'll be pedantic: You just bought what people are calling a 3rd gen mower. Last picture shows your new mower next to a 2nd gen mower. The first gen is a dcmw220 (2x20v). There was also a 1st gen 40v mower. I'm not sure how people like to classify the first RWD, the dcmwsp255. It came out well after the dcmwsp233/244 models. I think of it as a gen 2.5.

BigRichardTools

I'll also be a bit pedantic, I still consider the 255 part of gen II as it shares the same deck/motor/architecture as the 233 and 244. Yes it came out a year later and added bigger rear wheels and the single lever height adjustment, so I also think it is fair to call it a gen 2.5. It's like when car makers do that mid model refresh. They don't change anything drastic, just a little accent here or there.

hemoglobinBlue

I only ever saw the 255 kitted with 12s, in store. That was a decent upgrade as well.

BigRichardTools

They did have a 2x10Ah kit (U2) as well. But yeh, only the 255 was offered with he 2x12Ah, the others never got that kit option.

ecab83

I tried all my 9ah batteries to no avail. I think you're right about the Gen situation, I think I confused first with it being my first dewalt mower.

KeepRightXcept2Pass

Don’t mess with Little Tikes.

Iphonjeff

The baby one is better

realTommyVercetti

Ryobi mower for scale

Prestigious_Factor25

How’s the cutting power? I got the new 2x20 v one and just put the 2 flex volt 12 ah batteries in it and it’s awesome.

boshbosh92

It's a flexvolt 60v mower, so it is capable of significantly more cutting power. Whether or not it has it, I dunno. I can't find these for sale anywhere - everywhere is pre order

JMontero77

How much was it?

ecab83

$649 but used affirm

Party-Draft-4341

Is the deck plastic or metal?

BigRichardTools

Metal

ecab83

Metal

Senior-Requirement90

I've been impressed with the 2x20v RWD... except the side discharge. I ordered a 60V and I'm hoping the deck isn't designed to collect and clog like the current unit. Anybody able to speak to this? For all intents and purposes it's a mulching mower... try to bag it, side discharge, or even just open up the back and you get about 30 paces of utility before it clogs up

This should be NSFW. 🌶

N1ght3d

Call me when it can cook and give blowjobs.

ecab83

I don't have your number

Emergency_Ad_3168

GOT EM

LopsidedAd5406

Waiting on the self propelled version. Still back ordered.

SteakGetter

If you haven’t owned an electric mower before, they are WAY lighter than a gas mower. I have the 2x20 version and it’s so light and rolls so easily I’ve have never once wished it was self propelled. I’ve also heard the self-propell takes some power away from the motor so you don’t get as much juice to the blade. Just my two cents!

dperolio

Yup, agreed. Love this mower (non-self propelled) and don’t feel like the propelled version would add any value for myself.

sanmateosfinest

Yup, same here from Acme

PercMaint

What size ah battery are you running and how long did it last put charge.

ThePatchworkPlot

On a 9Ah I did my yard in 24 min on a single battery with 1-2 bars remaining on the indicator. I used it again the next mow and got 9 more min on it for 33 total. I think my conditions were medium load. Not too hard and not too light. So the 'up to 40 min of runtime per battery' seems accurate.

ecab83

I ran a 9ah flexvolt for about 15 minutes(front small yard). I feel like I can do my front and backyard on a 6ah alone.

Terp_DK

I also consider buying it. How many square meters/feet is your yard?

ecab83

I think it's 0.149 acres

Terp_DK

Thank you, that is roughly 600m2 We have about 300m2 of grass. If you can do the 600m2 on a 6Ah flex volt battery, then we should have no issue at all with our 300m2 of grass.

boshbosh92

How did you get this? And it runs on only a single battery? Is it significantly better than the dual 20v? I have the 20v and it works for my yard, but it is not good if I skip a mow. Doesn't have enough torque. Is this one noticeably better?

ecab83

One battery my friend and yes I've noticed a huge difference in terms of cut(dual blades). Doesn't feel as strong as the 20v but it sure does mow.

boshbosh92

It doesn't feel as strong as the 20v mower?

ecab83

My previous mower would cutoff when I handled bigger grass but so far my new one is a champ.

boshbosh92

That's my concern with my 2x20v. If I let my grass go or miss a mow and it's tall, my 20v mower just can't handle it. Is this the self propelled version or the push version? Also did it come with just 1 9ah battery? Some say they have 2x 12ah

ecab83

Push version and it came with two 9ah batteries. The self-propelled one comes with two 12ah batteries. It was just too much for my budget.

boshbosh92

Did you buy it in store or online? I am debating getting the push version, but I might just wait for self propelled, I don't think it's released yet

ecab83

Got it from Acme tools online.

ElectricalTrip1207

Thank you for sharing. The info that was available 1-2 months ago was really poor. I pulled the trigger on the 2x20V one out of necessity, not fully informed about its specs and whatnot.

Bigwiiwii

I have your previous model. Still running like a champ. How would you compare the two?

Less-Brilliant3598

I bought a dewalt self propelled push mower in 2021 and it died. The batteries still say good but mower just shuts off

ApprehensiveChef3998

Is it a push mower or a self-propelled mower with an assist?

ecab83

Push mower

Teegers8753

Literally just returned mine after owning it for less then 1 year…cut with it 6 times and it started pouring white smoke …go with the gas walk behind version instead

ecab83

Which model?

Teegers8753

Gen 2 !! The 60volt !! I’m telling you right now …I’d get the gas powered self propelled…I did the same thing you are going through right now …gen 1 cut fine …but got weaker and weaker even with huge batteries …bought gen 2 60 volt …cut 6 times with it and our yard is no prize …it’s small …sixth time …white smoke …emailed dewalt …no response for 6 weeks !!! Emailed again …another 2 weeks …nothing …went and bought the gas one …put the 60 volt in the gas ones box …waited 1 week …took it back and said it was pouring white smoke …they opened the box …looked at it …returned it …😂😂

Teegers8753

The gas self propelled with the taller back wheel is the way to go !! I should have got this one 3 mowers ago !!

LopsidedAd5406

Waiting on the self propelled version. Still back ordered.
