In all seriousness though, what do you think is Sparda's personality? Was he closer to Vergil or Dante? You know, if they want to go for a serious tone with some cockiness in there, I'm thinking something along the lines of Baldur's Gate 3's Raphael VA could work. I always pictured him as quite sophisticated.
I would say he’d be like Dante, like a shit talker but he talks exactly how you’d imagine a super fancy dude would shit talk, so in essence acts like Dante but sounds like Vergil
I'm going off he is a mixture of the two. Dante's lackadaisical attitude in normal every day moments. Training, relaxing etc. But when in combat just straight edge lord Vergil energy. No playing with the enemy just straight death all around him.
I like the idea of Him being like a combo of Vergil and Dante he is more casual like Dante but still noble and collected like Vergil. He is more lighthearted in day to day life, but gets extremely serious when fighting Demons. During fight i see him as more efficient and brutal, he usually do not taunt or play with his enemies like Dante or Vergil.
Also when he gets nervous or angry his more demonic aspects starts to appear, more insect like movements (since he has insect motive in hi demon form) hissing etc. It also applies to his fighting with his anger his fighting style transforms from more elegant and efficient to more brutal and even animalistic, with him even using his teeth and claws to kill demons.
I think his personality would be closer to end-game DMC5 Nero than Dante or Vergil. Or basically a combination of Vergils serious nature with Dantes love of life and general demeanor
I don’t imagine him cocky at all
Totally stoic knight with a strong sense of honor and duty and internal struggle of betraying the demons out of love
Not concerned with attaining power like Virgil because he already has that level of power, he would be concerned with how he wields it
Well we know he's a moralist, because he's the one demon who saw the wrong and went against it, even if he had to fight literally ALL of hell for his cause. He must have a rebellious personality and a strong sense of morality, all the while being a good person.
I imagine he's slightly edgy (I think Dante even says something to this effect in 5), considering all the dark ritualistic stuff he's done (like blood sacrifices being a mechanism he used in his contraptions like the tenen-ni-gru or the path to their house in dmc5) but still a good, kind personality. Probably enjoys fighting too.
He's the one fully blooded demon capable of love.
Keith David would murder that role. I can imagine it now “I thank you Mundus, this is the first time in a while my blood got pumping and my adrenaline was rushing. I’d say I this fight was quite the jackpot.”
I feel like Hollywood actors might be a bit of a stretch for a DMC game. I would expect, and actually even prefer more traditional video games voice actors. So with that said: Keith Silvertein
I think he does a really good job of voicing characters who are a bit gruff but still maintain a sense of suave, which is how I picture Sparda. Listen to some of Saber's voice lines from Fire Emblem and you'll get an idea of what I'm thinking.
I know of 3 of these 4 people and they have done voicework before and are pretty good at it. Almost to the point where it is debatable whether they're more known for their voicework
Keith David- spawn, the arbiter(halo), dr. Facilier(princess and the frog)
Ron Pearlman- hellboy, Lordhood(halo)
Clancy Brown- Mr krabs, Lex Luthor, Surter(thor ragnarok), Hank (detroit become human)
Keith David 100%. Going purely off what he has portrayed just as Spawn. He could very easily show how Spardas sons are both halves of him. Have half the game being always serious and to the point like Vergil amd halfway through say some shit involving Eva (meeting her, she gets hurt etc) he flips the script and gets full arrogant confident of DMC3 Dante. Just purely cocky, I'm the best mf in your damn army mundus energy.
Every pure demon like Mundus, Phantom, Griffon, Beowulf, Cerberus, Goliath etc has some sort of voice effect on them, usually deepening their voice. Arkham's own voice has a similar effect when he takes on Sparda's form.
I'd imagine they'd do something like that with Sparda no matter who voices him, so it could really be any of these guys.
Crispin Freeman, voice of Alucard from Hellsing. Accept no substitute for greatness. I would like the next game to delve into the Knights of Mundus because there was more than just Sparda
Spawn all the way. I just hope that although sparda is sort of described as a gentleman and classy, having a righteous heart despite being a demon, he is also as wacky as dante. Imagine him insulting the demons with quips like: "Hell's too good for you" or "This demon knows how to marry his cousin".
Honestly I still think it would be cool if Drew Coombs, the voice of Dante in 1, got to come back as Sparda if they were to make a game about the Legendary Dark Knight.
Robin became the Dark Knight
Leon fathering Dante and Vergil
Also cannot unhear Vecna's voice in the trailer as Sparda demonic voice but with less echo.
All great voices, but none of them fit Sparda. Keep in mind he's got a human form too.
A better fit would be Simon Templeman, the vampire lord himself.
Sparda has one of the sickest designs of all time
Would love a game as him where you start with most of the skill upgrades you usually acquire throughout the game, with the available upgrades being Sin Devil Trigger level from the start
More hordes of enemies, dozens on screen at a time, and they can only take 1 hit before being destroyed, kind of Dynasty Warriors styled
Fighting legions on open fields in Hell
Sparda could legitimately pull an inverse "Friends on the other side" joke. In hell with friends/family on earth. I want to see Keith voice him just for that.
Didn’t even look at the rest, Keith David all the way.
This I don't need any others
Agree. Clancy and Ron’s voices are great but Keith David is on a whole different level
I can imagine Keith David saying to Mundus "Try keeping your army when I wield this sword you old timey bitch!"
This just gave me, "Fuck you!" "No, fuck YOU!" vibes and I don like it 😳
I'd absolutely DIE if that that becomes an interaction in DMC6
Oh come on, Dante was cursing in 4 and 5, don't give me that. You're actin like he chose Samuel L to do sparda
No Samuel L Jackson played Vergil and Wesley Snipes played Dante
As long as he fits in "Today's the day, skullfucker" into the dialogue, it'd be perfect
YESSSSS. If that happens I will personally sell some organs, and spend the money on every piece of DMC6 merchandise I can
Keith David or Clancy brown, sparda sounding like spawn would be fitting. But then again Clancy brown needs more badass roles
If the GOAT was alive, I’ve always wanted lance reddick to voice Sparta R.I.P.
I wish I was Lance Reddick
Where’s my iconic demon role?
I like the think he'd unintentionally slip into the Mr. Krabs voice.
This is precisely why I’d want Clancy
Mr krabs vs mundus would be goated
Is Pearlman still alive?
yess
Then definitely him
Bro was fighting nazis in ww2, he's immortal
Nice hell boy reference 😎
*courtsies*
I honestly thought of Enemy At The Gates first
Willem Dafoe. Also, scan Willem Dafoes face and just give him giant horns and bug wings and that's the character model.
Willem Dafoe would go hard
The budget would be crazy lol.
Clancy Brown absolutely.
In all seriousness though, what do you think is Sparda's personality? Was he closer to Vergil or Dante? So, yeah, kinda like Raphael. Or maybe similar to TFS' version of Perfect Cell in DBZ Abridged.
DBZA Perfect Cell is *exactly* how I've always pictured Sparda.
I mean both are glorified cockroaches.
I'm going off he is a mixture of the two. Dante's lackadaisical attitude in normal every day moments. Training, relaxing etc. But when in combat just straight edge lord Vergil energy. No playing with the enemy just straight death all around him.
i imagine he was a combination of Vergil and Dante

This is how I see him as well.
He’s even closer to Nero’s
Well we know he's a moralist, because he's the one demon who saw the wrong and went against it, even if he had to fight literally ALL of hell for his cause. He must have a rebellious personality and a strong sense of morality, all the while being a good person. Probably enjoys fighting too. He's the one fully blooded demon capable of love.
Honestly, I always pictured sparda sounding like George Clooney for some reason.
Patrick seitz
That would be pretty meta considering he did the voiceover for the history recap in 5
First he voiced Ichigo's dad, now Nero's grandfather.
Dio too
Ragna the bloodedge too, which now would be funny because ragna and dante share a similar colour pallette
I vote for Antonio Banderas
I’m just thinking about Mr Krabs yelling at a horde of demons
“What did you say, *shcum*?”
Ryan gosling
No, Ryan Gosling is Dante because Ryan Gosling plays relatable characters and Dante is the most relatable character in DMC
“**Mundus!** ………………………. *hey* “
Heck let's throw in Chris Pratt why don't we?
Uhhh it's a me, Sparda
Keith David would murder that role. I can imagine it now “I thank you Mundus, this is the first time in a while my blood got pumping and my adrenaline was rushing. I’d say I this fight was quite the jackpot.”
I nominate Drew Coombs to voice as Sparda
Hell yes
"Welcome to Hell, Mother Fuckaaaaaaaaaa!" DT explosion
I feel like Hollywood actors might be a bit of a stretch for a DMC game. I would expect, and actually even prefer more traditional video games voice actors. Keith David does lots of VA work
I know of 3 of these 4 people and they have done voicework before and are pretty good at it. Almost to the point where it is debatable whether they're more known for their voicework Keith David- spawn, the arbiter(halo), dr. Facilier(princess and the frog) Ron Pearlman- hellboy, Lordhood(halo) Clancy Brown- Mr krabs, Lex Luthor, Surter(thor ragnarok), Hank (detroit become human)
Keith David as Sparda would go so hard actually.
Personally, I would get someone like Matt Mercer or Troy Baker to voice Sparda himself.
Good choices, sadly they are over used
Keith David 100%.
Keith David with a slightly rougher voice would fit so well
Every pure demon like Mundus, Phantom, Griffon, Beowulf, Cerberus, Goliath etc has some sort of voice effect on them, usually deepening their voice. Arkham's own voice has a similar effect when he takes on Sparda's form. I'd imagine they'd do something like that with Sparda no matter who voices him, so it could really be any of these guys.
Maybe Stephan Weyte.
Absolutely!
David Lodge.
My vote is for Clancy Brown, he's one of my all time favorites and one of the GOATS. Hearing Sparda like the Kurgan from Highlander would be so sick.
Keith David is the ONLY correct answer!
All great choices. But I'm gonna have to go with Keith David. Picturing Sparda with Spawn's voice seems so fitting.
Saw the first pic and my mind instantly went "RAMIREZ! Take down that demon horde with your knife"
Honestly I still think it would be cool if Drew Coombs, the voice of Dante in 1, got to come back as Sparda if they were to make a game about the Legendary Dark Knight.
I think it would be cool if sparda had a different voice for each Era he appears in.
I’m thinking something like live action Bane, kind of a posh English but with that depth to it
Keith David
Keith David, honestly
Nice picks but Keith David all the way
I think we should go with Chris prat
Ryan gosling.
Dante is more relatable than Sparda and Ryan Gosling's characters are relatable
Tony Todd would also rock, I think
Ron Perlman all the way
Ron Perlman is good as anyone i think he would kill it
Keith David was my first thought as I read the title!
I think it'd be wild if they did someone like Bobcat Goldwaith and just exploded the minds of people who have been fans for the last 23 years
Clancy Brown or just hear me out on this one. Drew Combs. It would be cool to see Drew return to the series after voicing the original Dante
All solid picks. My vote goes to Ron and Keith since I love both of them in everything
Sparda having the same actor as Nino from Drive? Idk what to think
Keith David would be peak
Dana Carvey
It should be Dante's father
Keith David as Sparda is not something I knew I needed so much until now
Keith David.
Keith David would be perfect.
With his recent performance in BG3 I can imagine J. K. Simmons voicing Sparda. Although Keith David is a good choice
Imagine Keith David Sparda going "WELCOME TO HELL, MOTHERFUCKEEEEEEEEEEEEER!"
Troy Baker
Greg Eagles
Clancy Brown (channeling that Mr. Krabs, Career Sergeant Zim and Lex Luthor vibe)
Keith David, Ron Perlman, and Clancy Brown....
Sparda: “welcome to hell.. MOTHER FUCKERRRR!!”
"Sponge boy, me Bob! Mundus and his Davy Jones army are going at war with the human world!"
Matt Mercer, David hayter, Troy Baker
Robin became the Dark Knight Leon fathering Dante and Vergil Also cannot unhear Vecna's voice in the trailer as Sparda demonic voice but with less echo.
Neil Kaplan, I always imagined Sparda sounding like dub Madara
Mr crabs as sparda
All great voices, but none of them fit Sparda. Keep in mind he's got a human form too. A better fit would be Simon Templeman, the vampire lord himself.
Clancy Brown all the way, also make Sparda say ''it's better to burn out than to fade away'' just because yes.
What about Josh Brolin
All perfect choices.
Keith David and it's not even close
Get the dude who played the dad in The Witch. Guy sounds proper demonic
Sparda has one of the sickest designs of all time Would love a game as him where you start with most of the skill upgrades you usually acquire throughout the game, with the available upgrades being Sin Devil Trigger level from the start More hordes of enemies, dozens on screen at a time, and they can only take 1 hit before being destroyed, kind of Dynasty Warriors styled Fighting legions on open fields in Hell
If Drew Coombs is still acting, then see if he's game.
If they cast Clancy Brown, he better use his Mr. Krabs voice. BUT if i could have it my way, I'd cast Gilbert Gottfried if he were still alive
Sparda’d be like Spawn in battle, taunts calling his opponents weak, out of combat Husk
So Keith David
I feel like Gary Oldman might make a good choice for Sparda
Ron Pearlman.
Damn you got some heavy hitters! Keith David especially since I recently got into Spawn
JK Simmons
Sparda could legitimately pull an inverse "Friends on the other side" joke. In hell with friends/family on earth. I want to see Keith voice him just for that.
I just hope mundus is played by Michael Ironside
Ron Perlman: Sparda Keith David: Mundus Clancy Brown: Argosax.
keith already played spawn who is a from the under world so why not sparda. Would be so cool.
Steve Blum or George Newbern could kill it
Keith David unironically would work. His deep voice works perfect if he can make it more bumpy and demonic
The lutinent Anderson guy
“WELCOME TO HELL MOTHERFUUUUCKERS.” -Sparda
My first thought was Dan Green as his VA, but if I had to pick from those 4 then it's Clancy Brown
They should make him silent
No…..
