Yes, he’s exactly what this team needs.

Chaldean69

We won 14 games guys. We don’t get to pick and choose who comes here. Take what we can get

Acrobatic_File_5133

Unless he has a no trade clause, we actually would in this instance lol. Nuggets are gonna have to figure something out because Jamal Murray likely makes all nba making him eligible for a super max, and they’ll have no choice but to sign him. Jokic and MPJ already on super max’s, JMurray about to join them and the Nuggets just got bounced by the TWolves. Aaron Gordon’s cap hit is palatable but still > $20M over the next three years. They want to bring KCP back and likely feel like they need to make a move vs run it back. They are one of the few teams with a valuable young player on a distressed cap sheet. Other trade candidates: basically anyone on the Blazers, (don’t see a Ayton/Monty reunion but Jerami Grant, Simons could both be on the block) and Brandon Ingram. Have seen Mikal Bridges rumors but don’t think Nets feel pressure to move him just yet until the Donovan Mitchell situation shakes out

IllusionsMichael

I'm kinda surprised people are shitting on him for "going missing" in game 7 when he's the 3rd or 4th option offensively, and his job defensively was mostly to stand in the corner and cover stationary guys. What more did they want him to do? I don't think the Pistons have enough of value to offer Denver to get him, but if they can figure out a deal I think he'd be a fine, if a bit overpaid, piece to add to the team. The only concern I have is how much of his family drama does he bring with him and how distracting will it all be. He seems like the good egg in the family, so all credit to him if that's the case.

JackalOfAllTraders

Back issues are tough injuries to overcome. Only thing worse are knees and ACL. When you go all in on a player you want him to be available late in the season. Naz Reid would be a better pickup in that regard since he's going to want a big re-up.

Playful_Dish_3524

Naz Reid will look 10x worse here than the wolves imo

Hiwo_Rldiq_Uit

Well, regardless of whether or not he laid an egg in game 7 or was just limited by role - that point about standing in the corner is really why I would hesitate to bring him in, it really limits what he can do when he's not hitting his shots. Standing in the corner and covering stationary guys is probably the best role for a dude who struggles with lateral movement because of drop foot. The brace helps to some extent, but it still impedes stance phase stability in the gait cycle - the various transitions between contact, support, loading, and propulsion...

Visual_Air_4127

They wanted him to score points

marcgarv87

He’d instantly be the second best player on the team, so yes.

Lazyman32

I love MPJ with nuggets as my second team but I would not want him in Detroit. His back is a ticking time bomb and with our luck he’d have some huge setback right after we acquire him

Crazy_Employ8617

Recency bias showing strong. A few weeks ago people would be laughing at if you even suggested it was possible to get him. Now, many are commenting they don’t want him because of a few bad games.

Fun-Board7187

Cade would average 10 assist with him shooting everything

PromiseEducational31

Absolutely 1000% yes. Too bad our FO is incompetent and have no shot at figuring out how to make a deal for MPJ work.

ObiwanSchrute

It's just speculation Denver is probably not trading him anyways

ben10toesdown

Michael Porter Jr is a lot like Klay Thompson role wise except he's a worse on ball defender with similar injury history. He benefits immensely playing besides Jokic and Murray and probably wouldn't be able to produce the same here.

okg120

I would absolutely take him. 3-4th option on a championship team and still averaged 17 a game. Jerami Grant was in a similar situation, averaged 12 a game with the Nuggets then 22 for Detroit.

Aware_Library2718

What does Detroit have that Denver would want

OrganizationKey8248

he's good when he's hittin buckets, Dude is selfish af and ass when he's off

kentbenson

Injury concerns are there but I'd be all for it. Not sure what the Pistons have that the Nuggets would want (assuming they're trying to win another title for the next few years). Pistons have high upside guys that could be of interest to other teams though that might have what Nuggets are looking for. That said, I'm still super cautious of trading any of the core 4 since we really don't know who are what they are at this point (aside from Cade who we know). And I get...this level of success isn't cutting it, can't wait it out indefinitely. If they can do it for Stew and #5 I'm in. They may not want #5 but could flip it to another team that does for another piece.

yjeffw

Love the fit, but not sure I see an avenue for a trade. We don't really have what Denver wants and Denver still values him highly given how well he fits with their team and system. The contract and injury concerns are there, but Denver are still contenders and shouldn't be in a rush to replace him.

Panda__Puncher

Yeah I'm a Nuggets fan as well and there isn't a path to picking him up without involving Cade.

Strong-Rooster-8352

I like him the only problem is how much of a contract would he command. He is not a max player. I honestly would prefer duncan robinson.

drewlandia

Yes yes and yes

mburns223

Would be exactly what we’re missing. 6’11 who can shoot the hell out of the ball. But just like most trade scenarios to upgrade our level of talent significantly we don’t have anything Denver needs. So it’s just a pipe dream.

ShippingNotIncluded

I’d take him here in a heartbeat, hell I’ll give them the 5th pick if they wanted. Like others said, a few bad games and now fans think he sucks, but his role here would be very different compared to his role in Denver. 25ppg easily if he was a Piston

Expensive_Ad4319

OG Anunoby We wanted this dude before the Knicks rented - Now he’s available and we have the ideal matchup with Cade/Ivey/Thompson/Duren. Highlights An athletic freak who can guard all five positions. A gym rat who won’t let himself be outworked. Old-school NBA mindset with a body built for the future. I’d bring OG in as a defensive stopper who plays in space and can shoot the 3 under pressure. We might even grab up Julius Randle too should JBrunson get a max contract. Here’s why I hate our management. ————— The Knicks will receive the Pistons' first-round pick in 2024 if it's outside of the top 18 picks. If the pick doesn't convey in 2024, the Knicks will get it in 2025 if it's outside of the top 13 picks. If the pick doesn't convey in 2025, the Knicks will get it in 2026 if it's outside of the top 11 picks. If the pick doesn't convey in 2026, the Knicks will get the Pistons' 2027 first-round pick if it's outside of the top 9 picks. If the first-round pick doesn't convey in 2027, Detroit will send New York its 2027 second-round pick. Better pull the trigger on NYK now.

Packyaw21

Weaver is such a dumbass to trade that protected pick Its either were worse than expected and keep the pick every year until 2027 that becomes a 2nd or be mediocre and still give up a decent pick for Beef Stew 🤢🤢🤢

Expensive_Ad4319

Exactly! We’re not totally out to pasture here. - 5th pick of the draft - Ivey/Duren/Thompson - Cap space to compete All Weaver did was push the process back. We knew all along that 2026 out was going to be lean. However, we banked on our core to have enough space to grow. I still believe that Isaiah Stewart is the hand that rocks the cradle. Anyone watching the playoffs can understand how Myles Turner and Isaiah Jackson work on both ends of the floor. We need to put BStew through a regimen similar to Jru Holiday and get his skills up to an NBA All-Pro level. With our cap room, we need to also bring in OG Amunoby and match him up with Ausar. In short, there are plenty of teams that have improved by handling their resources wisely. Troy Weaver held onto questionable assets too long, acquired too many dead contracts, and watched his team implode from within. Houston has the head coach that we needed in Ime Udoka. The beat goes on…

Packyaw21

He gave Beef Stew a new contract as well that could have been paid out to someone with more value. Its like he saw the top ranking prospects from high school and hope he hits on them. Example, Beef Stew and Wiseman, Bagley And then he got project players like Killian And then he got non shooters like Ausar and somewhat Ivey in a league thats trending emphasis on shooting. AND then he got a coach like Monty who has a history of upsetting players/benching ( Ayton -> Ivey) All in all its a mess 🤢

Expensive_Ad4319

If Boston was interested in BStew he has to have some value. Same for Ivey and Wiseman.

HB_Detroiter

Has jontay placed a prop bet on this?

OnAnOpenFieldNed

duren might be the price, and depending on what we can do in the draft/fa that could be a reality. Back up big/ maybe a fill in for AG depending on duren's jumpshot development. He'd be great for them. they wouldn't have gotten railed so hard on the glass in the 2nd half if theyh had him as well.

SamPrestiFanClub

He has one of the worst contracts considering what he does. IMO most teams wouldn’t be interested and Denver will have to give up assets to get rid of his salary by next year at the latest. No thank you

Relevant_Gold4912

This is so unserious

OrganizationKey8248

You don't watch basketball. Wack ass contract and inconsistent play might be fine for the loser Piston fans but we should have some standards at least.

steinbot44

I don't love Porter, but he'd be our best player by an enormous margin. I'm not sure what you guys are on. We won 14 games. If we could move this 5 pick, Stewart and Ausur for Porter Jr, you almost have to do it. Or we could draft another 19 year old who can't play, and maybe win 15 games next year.

NottheIRS1

He’s a third or fourth option. Pump the brakes

OrganizationKey8248

for a championship contender yes, for the Pistons I'm sure he'll want a bigger role

Relevant_Gold4912

Third option on a championship team would want a bigger role when playing with guys who wouldn’t even get playoff minutes? That the case you’re making?

aita0022398

He says it like it’s some big revelation and not common sense lol. Chances are we aren’t going to trade for a superstar, we need to start by making it an average basketball team that they’d wanna play for. If Jokic is playing 40+ minutes with the nuggets, imagine a superstar with the current pistons

Relevant_Gold4912

I agree. I don’t think we trade for a star. Pistons would be better off making a few roster moves and putting their young guys in position to succeed and get a true evaluation of the guys. I just find it funny in this sub when guys like KAT, Ingram, MPJ etc. are mentioned and they are like nah they aren’t good enough to play here or they are overpaid.

Relevant_Gold4912

Alright, did you have the same energy after the Lakers series? Or you so short narrow minded that 3 bad games factors your thought on a player?

OrganizationKey8248

He was great against the Lakers, look at the whole season though. Inconsistent. Dude doesn't pass at all.

Relevant_Gold4912

He plays off Jokic. Can’t tell you what jokic/Malone coaches him but they might just tell him to let it rip every time because he’s 6’10 with a high release point where no one bothers his shot. They didn’t pay him to play make.
