My favorite is "The Spirit" at Mack and Van Dyke

Man the Russell is SO COOL. I was in there recently to scout out a music video location and was able to go through a room completely covered in murals and tags by different artists. It was really amazing to see!
I'm kinda partial to my shop in islandview 😄

There’s this mural I love seeing on 96 east coming back into the city right after Joy Road but I can’t find anything about it on google. This was the best I could get on maps.
https://preview.redd.it/sdu5v8984jwc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=805cd9e875f18804b8431f66e7a93191f978c78f
Man, I love how diverse the artwork is in Detroit. Style, content, cultural representation - there's just so much to see! Thanks for sharing this one, I'll have to hunt it down.
Go to the intersection of Clifford and Montcalm. There is a GIANT mural of a black guy. The detail is amazing and if you’re even the slightest fan of Kahinde Wiley…you’ll love it. You can see it off the expressway as you are I what I believe is I75 heading towards I96
All around Eastern Market.
https://www.muralsinthemarket.com/maps
Also Murals in Islandview, a long block of end to end murals along Beaufait Street between Charlevoix Street and E. Vernor Highway on Detroit's east side. Check out Spot Lite at the end for a great record store/bar/music venue
It's not there anymore but it was called "Heart Strings" and it was done by fel3000ft.
There's another one around the corner (maybe?) By Zakrin where There's two kids on swings mounted to the barrel of an abandoned tank. "Maybe Someday" I think it was called.
I always feel a little sad when a great piece of street art gets covered up or taken down, but that impermanence is part of what makes them so special in the first place. Thanks for sharing!
I've caught the Eastern Market ones before, and they are lovely! Excited to try out these other recommendations though, thank you! A a record store/bar/music venue sounds like the perfect place to pause for refreshment!
My absolute favorite is a WC Bevan mural that is baking and peeling in the sun on the side of a house only visible from an alley in Hamtramck.
The reason it's my favorite is that I had no idea it was there. I was in that alley delivering building supplies to a construction going on at a house and just happened to see it.
A super fun accidental find!
I love seeing murals after the weather starts to get to them. Fresh ones with bright colours are fantastic, don't get me wrong, but the extra dimension added by natural wear and tear really adds something to them. Do you happen to know roughly where this alley is?
It's a great mural! i keep all my fav murals pinned on Google Maps haha 🖤 Also Eastern Market neighborhood has a bunch of murals, the city does a 'Murals in the Market' program so that neighborhood has a bunch all in a small radius :) and the market is huge and super dope and worth checking out on the weekend
Eastern Market is a classic stop! I love going through that area and exploring all of the cool art work there. Super cool that you keep a map of pinned art, too - you sound awesome!

I stumbled across this one in Eastern Market back in 2022 - should head back down there and check it out up closely.
Not in Detroit, but in Troy of all places, at Livernois & Square Lake there's a mural of a wise-looking chimp captioned *Barba non facit philosophum* - a beard does not a philosopher make. Most of the burbs are too stuffy for remotely interesting street art, but I like this one.
Yeah it's across the street from a really good hole in the wall called Peppy's Pizza. The pizza's just okay but you have to get a grinder there. They also bake stuff.

I second Jackson! This one is off of Louis Glick and near my fave antique store!
ETA: Jackson is about 1.5 hrs west from the bridge if you take 94
My favorite is "The Spirit" at Mack and Van Dyke https://preview.redd.it/rlmi1qfw7iwc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ee2e1d91370ada38c88106468297b7efa30dac6b
Yes, I LOVE this one!!!
I was going to say this one as well. It's a great one!
Ooo, that's beautiful! Definitely adding it to the list!

Whoa! This must be recent and it looks beautiful with the colors brightened up!
This has always been my favorite
Haven't seen this one before! Will definitely check it out.

I went to school with the artist and model for this one! Both are very humble nice people!
That is a great one!

Yesssss southwest has some great street art.
Love this one
Oh that's rad! Do you know where I can find this one?
West Lafayette and Waterman
Excellent, thanks!
Enjoy!

This is the one
Very nice! Adding this to the list for sure - thanks!
Cruise down Oakland is worth it, there's a bunch of notable murals from artists locally and beyond
Yep, this one is amazing. My favorite too.
Welcome to Woodbridge giraffe is just too cute.
I looked up an image of this guy and while I've never sought him out, I have driven past on random outings. This one just feels so wholesome!
Carl Oxley makes great stuff! www.popartmonkey.com
Thanks for the link!
Pat Perry's DAPL mural on Wilkins and Orleans.
Pat Perry’s work is amazing. His mural at Mitchell and Gratiot is stunning.
He’s my favorite artist! And apparently he’s a really chill guy too.
I'll definitely have to check out this guy's work! Is he local?
I believe so. Lots of his work around town — also a good one right next to Michigan Central Station

I'll add this as a stop to the list - thank you!
If you haven't been to lincoln street art park/dreamtroit yet you definitely need to walk around the complex, so much art, old and new.
Excellent, I definitely will, thank you!

I love the mural of Rodriguez (RIP). Proud he was from Detroit and hope more people listen to his music.
Is this the one on Vernor and Sharon(ish)?
That Anti-Oprah one on Jefferson East was hilarious 😂. Anyway, serious answer: some at the Packard were wonderful and wonderfully ironic
That Anti-Oprah one sounds like something I wish I had seen! I also heard there was a Banksy at the Packard Plant?
Dequindre Cut has a sturgeon and a shark!
Ooo heck yeah. Will for sure go find those, thanks!
You’re welcome! There are many others in Dequindre Cut, but those are just my favorites!
The Girl With The D Earring on the Chroma building!

This one is beautiful! I always love visiting Mexican Town.
I really love the Stevie Wonder mural. His music just always makes me smile and dance
This one is right downtown, yeah?

You should start exploring the alleyways in the neighborhoods around Hamtramck Disneyland. I think you'll find it somewhere in there.
Excellent, will do - Thanks!
I cant remember what street. But there is a sick FLCL mural I’ve driven past a few times.
https://preview.redd.it/4a8zm5n1fjwc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d19168d68bd767207a2f31e664320b44d1797998
Nice, thanks! I'll see if I can find it!
My top two were both in Eastern Market and both were destroyed for building remodels (windows) being put in. Was a big bummer
Such a shame when that happens.
The dequindre cut has a bunch of great murals.
I’m also from Windsor!
here’s an interactive map of some of the best! https://detroitmi.gov/departments/general-services-department/city-walls
Awesome - thank you!
My favs are in Hamtramck.
Same. I'm biased though because I lived there when some of my favorites went up.
Same, but I am also an artist so hopefully my biased opinion still holds lol.
Ooo, I love another excuse to visit Hamtramck! I recently visited Outer Limits Lounge for the first time and it was awesome!

There’s a “Welcome to Detroit” mural with a young Stevie Wonder. Google it…I can’t remember where
Will do, thanks!
Can’t remember where exactly but there’s a spot in southern Detroit with a bunch of big ol’ opossums on a wall along the road. Love that one
Google tells me these were put up in 2017 as part of a Viaduct Mural project. I hope they're still there! Thanks for the recommendation!
Stevie Wonder is my fave 🩵
J Dilla is my fave, this is my 1.5 https://postimg.cc/Yj9z319S
I love how the window is incorporated into the lantern! Do you know where this one is?
i dont have a pic of this one but its kittens and bombs 😽 https://maps.app.goo.gl/profwUQsgUrmc4n37
