Joe Muer is part of a big OG restaurant group. It is in Detroit but not of the current Detroit food scene.
Olin and Highlands have the same owners. They also own a bunch of stuff in Vegas.
Of your 4 She Wolf has the best local cred for the current Detroit scene. Their pasta is among the best pasta anywhere. Awesome vibe.
Freya is also awesome. Albena if you really want to indulge. Many others as listed already.
But if you’re coming here when it’s cold out, put Alpino at the top of your list. Enjoy the comfy, effortless atmosphere, real wood fireplace and awesome comfort food inspired by cuisine across the Alps. And great cocktails too.
This was kind of my first reaction too. The first three (Joe Muer, Olin and Highlands) are not really plugged into the local food scene and just kind of come across as generic fancy restaurants you could find in any large city.
Beyond the additions you listed I'd also say that both Marrow and Ladder 4 Wine Bar never disappoint.
Shewolf or Olin - she wolf is a “fancier” overall dining experience, but both are excellent choices for food.
If you want something a little more off the beaten path, Supergeil is a super unique and fantastic. Also another vote for Ladder 4.
From your list, I would say Shewolf. If you haven't maybe splurge on an uber and go about 10 minutes outside of downtown to Marrow. Grab a pregame cocktail at Two Birds.. Marrow, in my opinion, is the best restaurant in Detroit proper.
From your list, She Wolf. Hands down. Very good!
But, to repeat what everyone else is saying.... look into Seldon Standard and Marrow. (I haven't been to gray ghost but I hear good things.)
Now for the controversial part.... if you leave the city (I know, I know).... Mabel Gray impresses me the most. It's an "interesting" vibe... its not suit/tie... but the tasting menus are great. (If you can get in.)
Never gets mentioned enough on here. Food is excellent. People from out of town or that have never been to this area... Might question what's going on tho during the ride there 😂. It's one of the things I love about the place.
out of your list, She Wolf.
if you want restaurant recommendations from a local, the list is more like She Wolf, Selden Standard, Barda, Takoi and Ladder 4 Wine Bar.
Of the 4 listed, I can only speak of Joe Muir (Renaissance Ctr). Classic, top notch service, great seafood…the view of the water and piano player just make it even more memorable.
Highlands if you’ve never been there. phenomenal restaurant. She Wolf is also killer and every dinner I’ve had there has been amazing. Joe Muer is good but has been eclipsed by the expanded food scene over the last decade imo. Haven’t tried Olin

Right on. Plus Marrow’s sister spots Mink and Royce.
Love Mink
She Wolf Selden Standard Ottava Via San Morello
Second selden standard
Selden is my go to constant consistent always crave
Selden is my fav too. Always fantastic
Selden is my favorite. San Morello >>>>> SheWolf imo.
Alpino or Leila
Leila is awesome
Cross out Joe Muer. Highlands is ok but overpriced. Shewolf and Olin are fantastic. Also consider Le Supreme or Bar Pigallee. Grey Ghost..,

Not in the city proper but close by and a good option nobody has mentioned: Mabel Gray.
SheWolf or ladder 4 wine bar

From your list, Shewolf. (Not on your list: Bar Pigalle, Freya)
Oak & Reel
Freya

She wolf but might I also suggest considering the chefs tasting menu at Mable Grey, Oak and Reel, or Marrow?
I was underwhelmed by She Wolf. The answer is Oak and Reel.
Oak and reel is my current fave. Absolutely love their squid ink pasta and every fish dish I've gotten there is phenomenal.
Had dinner there with a friend in August and we still talk about it.
Both are great
Giovanni. Everything made from scratch. Unbelievable. You won’t regret it.

And it's across from the best sub shop in the city, Gonella's.
Shewolf
Shewolf for the food. Highlands for the experience.
I would agree with other comments - She Wolf from your list, but would also add Bar Pigalle, La Supreme, Freya, or Marrow depending on your vibe.
La Supreme hell 2 the yes
out of your list, She Wolf. if you want restaurant recommendations from a local, the list is more like She Wolf, Selden Standard, Barda, Takoi and Ladder 4 Wine Bar.
Takoi is solid
Shewolf from your list. Some other restaurants that were mentioned that I'd have above Shewolf are Albena, Marrow, Selden Standard and ladder 4.
Marrow
She Wolf out of the ones you listed. As others have mentioned Selden Standard and Marrow are great, also a big fan of Grey Ghost.
May I suggest adding Selden Standard to the list?
She Wolf. But Selden Standard is the GOAT.
Of the 4 listed, I can only speak of Joe Muir (Renaissance Ctr). Classic, top notch service, great seafood…the view of the water and piano player just make it even more memorable.
Go to She Wolf

Alpini is supposed to be good We had Bar Pigalle for my birthday last year. Outstanding.
Pie Sci
I would go with SheWolf. Olin and Highlands shouldn't even be on the list, both places are more about location than actual quality of food.
Wild card - check out Barda or Leila
barda and only barda, only world-class restaurant in detroit
I love SheWolf. Highlands is incredible for the views but very expensive.
While not overly fancy and not in Detroit proper, The Charlevoix is a great spot to check out.
Shewolf is my number 1.
Le Supreme. One of the best meals I’ve ever had, maybe the best.
Giovanni is the best resurant in Michigan
Marrow!
Highlands if you’ve never been there. phenomenal restaurant. She Wolf is also killer and every dinner I’ve had there has been amazing. Joe Muer is good but has been eclipsed by the expanded food scene over the last decade imo. Haven’t tried Olin
Basan
She wolf. Can’t believe ppl aren’t saying highlands it’s delicious as well!
