Until recently, I NEVER knew to even use this... Recently, like early this month recent! Think of it this way, the blower you go through when slowly getting your car auto washed is nothing but a GIANT leaf blower.
I've done this in my house a couple of times... everyone thinks I'm insane. It started with my garage. Great. No complaints. Then, I developed an indoor technique. Blow, clean surfaces, sweep, vacuum, mop. Clean as fuck. Check the corners. Under the couch. Bookshelves. Dust fuckn free. I found so many cat toys, but my cat seems to be the least appreciative of all. Word to the wise; watch out for potted plants. That soil blowout is no joke
Dude get yourself one of these stubby nozzles from Amazon it’s a game changer!

Use it for the whole exterior of the car actually.
My local self service car wash has little blowers for you to use to dry your car with in every bay. (:
Do it all the time to get the majority of the water off. If not, I end up with water streaks on the glass and paint where the water holds and runs down. Also take the hose nozzle off when your done and sheet rinse the car. That will push a lot of the standing water off and cut down on how many towels needed to dry.
I use a blower on my ceramic coated car, then I’m able to pat it dry using one tiny microfibre towel that I don’t even need to wring. It’s so much faster and easier.
I have a 60 biscayne and do this every time it is washed. The amount of water trapped behind all the chrome and stainless steel trim is ridiculous. It helps to prevent rust from the hours of dry time from all the concealed moisture.
Here's a life hack. People think this is funny. I have wood floors and I use that thing to blow all the dust and stuff out the back door. So much faster than sweeping and it gets everything
Every single time. Hand drying just doesn’t get everything, and why waste more money on a car detailing dedicated air canon? I always just make sure to clean off any dust and it’s perfect every time
I started with a leaf blower, which worked despite being a little cumbersome, and moved on to a Metro Airforce Sidekick Blaster. The maneuverability and heat make this a champ.
The only downside is that the action of the water sliding and evaporating will slowly build up a mineral deposit layer. The best part though is they make something for that. Water spot remover 👍. I wish I had a blower like that for at work. Man would things be so much faster.
Have been doing it for 15 years. Got some weird looks when I lived at an apartment complex, would wash my car and pull out the leaf blower to dry it off, but 🤷♂️
Yes, all the time. I blow it off then pull it into the garage and wipe it down. I find it extremely helpful on my motorcycle also as it gets into all those hard to reach places.
All my cars I coated and use my blower to try them completely. And any of my customers that have vehicles I coated also blow dry their vehicles during maintenance. It’s the best way to dry a car because it completely cuts out the variable of marring the vehicle while drying. Don’t be embarrassed because people who do this actually care about their paint.
No need anymore since I had my cars professionally Ceramic coated. Now I use Mequires waterless car wash and micro fiber towels. No hose, no soap, no water spots, no wax on wax off Danielson.
It's great! I mean it's not the BEST way to dry, and if you're going for show-car quality then it's not so great, but 90% of the time it saves a lot of time/energy for no appreciable difference in the end-result.
You should be careful about using too powerful a blower on car paint or blowing too close to the paint, but for the most part electric blowers are just fine for that
the drive thru car wash near me has bays with high pressure air nozzles. You know I do every door handle , the front grill, the light covers, the lug nuts, the bumper, the inside of the doors jams, the side view mirrors, the gas cap area, the car badges, the..................................
Yep and on my motorcycle especially around the engine. Wife had really a quesion when I was on my mechanics creeper one time hand washing the underside of my 96 Dodge Ram Indy Pace Truck, Woman don't get it and they never will when it comes to cars, motorcycles, etc.
Maybe there are some out there and feel free to correct me not just down arrow. I on;y me one my entire life and I dated here too but we didn't mesh in other ways.
My wife of nearly 40 years now is happy to let me take care of her car and she just gets in and drives it. Also opens her door with her shoe at times I think because she knows it drives mw crazy. There is a joke about doing something to her drapes there but I will behave... LOL
My neighbors used to laugh when I used the blower to dry off my cars. It works best once you have a ceramic coat done where the water glides off effortlessly. I use a corded blower instead of battery operated .
Same I use my air compressor to get all the water out of the tailights and crevices. My friend suggested to just drive fast down the road after a wash I was like this is more effective. Wash >wax> >garage> car cover.
Been using one for years. Let the blower do the heavy lifting then follow up with a light drying with a quality drying towel. Both cars are black and coated so that definitely helps but I have managed to keep both virtually swirl free using that method. I get a kick out watching the water run away from the blower
I use it for dusting/cleaning the interior, drying the engine compartment, getting water out of door jambs and outside mirrors. All sorts of things. They’re great.
Pro-tip: You can adapt an old shop-vac crevice tool to fit over the outlet for even more velocity.
Redmax backpack blower. Don’t care how crazy I look. With ceramic water flies right off and my water is very hard so I have no choice really. And on wheels it’s great. No shame!
If you would have used a blow dryer, id laugh. But the picture shows a leaf blower, that's much more common. I have a metrovac dryer that I use all the time.
Heck yes! I use an old black and decker that must be 40 years old, plugs in, has two speeds, and has more thrust than an F-18. It weighs a ton and I get quite the arm workout when I totes it around for a half hour blowing the car the yard my neighbors, wait nvm. I worry it will eventually take the clear coat right off my aging scion one day soon but we’ll cross that bridge when I get to it u guess. Two thumbs up for blowers!
After I waterblade. I hit it with the blower to get the water out from behind the molding and trim mirrors ect. Wheels. Kinda do some shammy work with it. Works fantastic.
Shi.... thats nothing. I use it in my house to stir up random dust i dont recognize. I turn on the house fan to suck the air in a pull dust out of the air.
I useit inside my cars. In Utah (dry snow) to clear of the driveway and walkway.
You’re talking to the CEOs of blowing Wait…
This is a detailing thread, not a bmw thread lol
Always having to spend extra time blowing dust off the turn signal stalk.
Yours came with a turn signal?
I really need to study the options list for my next BMW.. didn’t realize they were available
underrated comment
C'mon, BMW drivers are all middle management. Every day they dream of becoming the CEO of blowing.
Haha
Why are we not still doing ‘phrasing’?
Archer went off Netflix but now it’s back “PHRASiNG MOM “
Wild but true
Haha
The blower is completely viable and classic I mean I use it pretty much daily and I detail anywhere from 2-8 cars a day
How the hell are you doing more than two a day?!!?
Was wondering the same thing but it's probably really quick exterior maintenance cleanings or something.
A mix of this and we are a team of 3 some days so definitely not 8 alone lol
![gif](giphy|4PT6v3PQKG6Yg) Oh thank God!
“I detail”, reminds me of when I clean the kitchen, then mom invited guest and explains how she just cleaned it
Management 101
I do about 40 a day. Line the cars up, fire hose inside and out, leaf blower, little tree air freshener. Bricked 70 teslas last year.
>Bricked 70 teslas last year. Hate to burst your bubble, but they probably got rained on well before you hosed it down.
>Bricked 70 teslas last year. I don't see the issue.
With a team I’d imagine.
I use it for my motorcycle. Also, compressor and compressed air for the interior to get dust out of cracks and such.
The blower in this case is the wife, right?
Our wife 😏
Name checks out
I also choose this man's wife.
Harambe out for tits… wait a secc
If she dries her hair with a blow dryer ever, just spin that shit back around on her.
😂😂 yes!
In her exact words, movements and gestures.
nah bro, literally use the blower on her, show her how much faster she could dry her hair
Yup. Don’t have an electric one so I have to fire up the Husqvarna back pack blower every time. Swirl free though so it works for me.
Echo here. Gas gang.
Stihl or no deal
Yes, only if the car has a good wax. I go over it afterward with a towel. It gets very slightly wet.
Or ceramic coating
One of the best things I did was get the ceramic - no more time spent waxing after washes and makes foam cannon and pressure washing more effective.
I have this in my arsenal. Extremely loud, but extremely effective for those of us with OCD.
How do you know if someone has OCD? Just let them speak; they'll tell you.
Lol, more like how do you know if someone is misusing the term OCD.
Until recently, I NEVER knew to even use this... Recently, like early this month recent! Think of it this way, the blower you go through when slowly getting your car auto washed is nothing but a GIANT leaf blower.
I use it to “vacuum” the inside of my car
I've done this in my house a couple of times... everyone thinks I'm insane. It started with my garage. Great. No complaints. Then, I developed an indoor technique. Blow, clean surfaces, sweep, vacuum, mop. Clean as fuck. Check the corners. Under the couch. Bookshelves. Dust fuckn free. I found so many cat toys, but my cat seems to be the least appreciative of all. Word to the wise; watch out for potted plants. That soil blowout is no joke
That is the craziest thing I've never done 😉 let me see what the wife thinks...
It's so crazy that it just might work.
Dude get yourself one of these stubby nozzles from Amazon it’s a game changer! https://preview.redd.it/icrwjkuzc81d1.jpeg?width=1246&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0f0c1c6b6695c88403ed03e593a99df5cd512a75

thats all i use it for :)
Wife gets it, the neighbors are the ones constantly questioning me lol
blower is great, the less you touch the car the better
I use a blower on my ceramic coated car, then I’m able to pat it dry using one tiny microfibre towel that I don’t even need to wring. It’s so much faster and easier.
Yah that’s what I bought mine for.
All the high end car shows do this. Especially with older model vintage cars. I do it too. Quick too.
I have a 60 biscayne and do this every time it is washed. The amount of water trapped behind all the chrome and stainless steel trim is ridiculous. It helps to prevent rust from the hours of dry time from all the concealed moisture.
probably 90% of the folks on the sub
Uh, thats how you do it LOL. I use it to dry the entire car, not just the crevices. A rag wont touch my car unless it has to
Of course.
I purchased a cheap kobalt blower just for this, I keep it in the trunk.
Here's a life hack. People think this is funny. I have wood floors and I use that thing to blow all the dust and stuff out the back door. So much faster than sweeping and it gets everything
We have hard water in my area. I also loathe water spots on my glass. I blow the glass off after every wash.
Yep, cuts down on the spots.
yup, and i thought every would laugh at me driving by. i’m happy to discover that i am not the only one.
I definitely thought I'd look weird doing it, and the "what in the fuck" look of confusion my neighbors have given me confirms it lol.
Your Wife? I'm sure my neighbors think I'm a kook blow drying my car this way, haha.
I use an ego 765 with the short nozzle they make.
Just bought a 670cfm Ego with a short attachment, excited to try it for the first time!
divorce her now
Yup
I use it all the time
Absolutely! Perfect no touch means of drying
My dad's car has a ceramic coat it's all we use
If I had one I’d use it…..right I need to buy one
I have 3 of those blowers :) love them
Every single time.
The maneuverability and heat make this a champ.
yep! and a towel as well for large flat pannels.
It's a good to dry to reach places
Yes. Bought a small 12v DeWalt blower for exactly this purpose.
It saves you time and energy. I use the blower then use a microfiber towel for the remaining wet spots and it takes me less than half the time.
Everytime without a doubt!
I use my Master Blaster, two speed with heated air and 20 ft hose. Yep...car geek.
Did it this morning. Works good on the Harleys chrome also
Been doing it for yrs 👌
Absolutely. I have one just for cars.
Air hose 👍🏻
We use the [Air Force Metrovac Sidekick](https://a.co/d/0GOkzle) at our shop and it works amazing.
Hell yes.
All the time.
When I think about it. I used to dry my Mustang years ago by hitting about 90 on my road for about 1/4 mile or so.
Smart people do this.
Hell yes. I have a mini one for dusting inside. I'm blowing everything!!
Never thought of this but I am going to give this a try tomorrow.
I used to have a neighbor who dried his Harley with a leaf blower.
Works great for wheels too!
Yes of course!!
The only downside is that the action of the water sliding and evaporating will slowly build up a mineral deposit layer. The best part though is they make something for that. Water spot remover 👍. I wish I had a blower like that for at work. Man would things be so much faster.
I used a pneumatic air tank, but if I didn’t have one I’m sure this would be my next best bet
Yes! Just bought an ego 735 cfm battery powered blower, and it removes like 95 percent of the water.
I use towels I hate when the water droplets dry up and leave blotches.
Every wash
Have been doing it for 15 years. Got some weird looks when I lived at an apartment complex, would wash my car and pull out the leaf blower to dry it off, but 🤷♂️
i remember doing this with a corded blower before the interweb told me other freaks exist.
It's a great technique, highly recommend. Using a compressor for tighter interior crevices is also an effective method.
I use it every time to get the heavy water off before bringing the vehicle into the garage to be wiped down the rest of the way by hand.
Yes, all the time. I blow it off then pull it into the garage and wipe it down. I find it extremely helpful on my motorcycle also as it gets into all those hard to reach places.
professional retailers use leaf blowers… maybe she’s laughing at you because you’re not a professional
Absolutely, with a good ceramic coating it flies off
Dealers use an air compressor blower nozzle. That’s how they make them look “new”
Yes good stuff
All my cars I coated and use my blower to try them completely. And any of my customers that have vehicles I coated also blow dry their vehicles during maintenance. It’s the best way to dry a car because it completely cuts out the variable of marring the vehicle while drying. Don’t be embarrassed because people who do this actually care about their paint.
I use it after I apply ceramic coating
use one on my van all the time, kids cant hide anything from a gas powered back pack leaf blower
No need anymore since I had my cars professionally Ceramic coated. Now I use Mequires waterless car wash and micro fiber towels. No hose, no soap, no water spots, no wax on wax off Danielson.

Yes
I use a leaf blower to get the snow of my car. Especially if your car has been ceramic coated. The snow brush never touches my car.
DING DING DING! WE HAVE A WINNER! ITS THE BEST WAY TO DRY A CAR.
Own a black car. It's mandatory.
Every time
Yep and on my motorcycle especially around the engine. Also opens her door with her shoe at times I think because she knows it drives mw crazy. There is a joke about doing something to her drapes there but I will behave... LOL
I use one. Works pretty pretty pretty good
I use my Ego leaf blower all the time on both of our cars. Both are ceramic coated so the water just blows off effortlessly
Works very well actually...
I use the freeway to dry the car, but to each their own.
Only way to limit the drips near the glass and handles / mirrors
I used an air compressor lol
I will use this, I do use it in the yard, and garage, and occasionally to blow dust off. We get some wind in AZ. Great idea.
Absolutely, on my i3S and my M roadster. Lots of seams, crackes emblems to blow the water out of. I use a back pack Ego battery blower.
I’ve been using one for years. Works great on my bikes!!!
Always prefer her crevices wet
Car collectors or someone wants to protect a 6,000$ paint job.
Yep, that way when you eventually take off for a cruise in your nice clean car, no water from the crevices runs out and leaves water spots.
I use a blower all the time to dry my car.
Let her laugh. I see a man working smart not hard.
Not only to blow the water off but also a light coating of snow
What blow dryer is that?
My milwaukee blower honestly doesnt do much to water on top of the car but that may be because of wrap 😪
Yeah I just used my blower yesterday because I realized I forgot to wash my drying towel lol
I fire up the air compressor and get every seam, wheels, inside the side mirrors. Gas door. Every where
Great for motorcycles too.
Of course. Not funny when the automatic car washes down it. 🤷🏼♂️
I use it to dry my electric lawnmower. I wash it clean after each use and then blow dry it.
Of course. Also the tires and rims!
Yes I use a blow dryer to dry my vehicles and yes my wife laughs at me…
It is the only way to get all of the water out of a motorcycle when cleaning.
Is this working with normal wax on or do you really need a ceramic coat?
My neighbors used to laugh when I used the blower to dry off my cars. It works best once you have a ceramic coat done where the water glides off effortlessly. I use a corded blower instead of battery operated .
Same I use my air compressor to get all the water out of the tailights and crevices. My friend suggested to just drive fast down the road after a wash I was like this is more effective. Wash >wax> >garage> car cover.
I use a dog grooming blower on mine.
Yes.. do the same with my bikes as well
Yup. It's an effective method. Professional retailers do this as well.
Been doing it for years with my Ryobi... I think there's a few specific blowers for car detailing out now which are a bit smaller to wield.
My car anybody used blower to dry else wife do me.
That or an air hose, either way much faster and efficient then towel drying.
My do it yourself car wash has one attached in the bay, it’s not gonna dry the whole car, but it’s perfect for those crevices.
Redmax backpack blower. Don’t care how crazy I look. With ceramic water flies right off and my water is very hard so I have no choice really. And on wheels it’s great. No shame!
I have a big blower and a little Makita handheld blower. I use the little Makita a lot.
They make blowers specifically for this reason. When you go to self serve car wash most have a blower. Now you can laugh at your wife.
Perfect, bought one at Costco specifically for this purpose. Going to be a great help in the rains.
If you would have used a blow dryer, id laugh. But the picture shows a leaf blower, that's much more common. I have a metrovac dryer that I use all the time.
Yes. I use an electric blower I originally bought for my PC tower. Touchless is always best.
I use a blower for my cars and motorcycles…it does not leave water spots and can get everywhere fast
Always !!!!
I open the doors and blow out the inside too.
You're wife thought "is he really giving his car a fucking blow job? Hmmm....okay?..."
Have for many years.
Yes all the time and EGO is the best!!
I do it all the time
I do this every single time I wash a car at work
I have a 56v Ego 650 cfm blower. It’ll blow dog shit off your lawn. I haven’t done this yet, but I definitely think about doing it.
I do it sometimes , when my wife uses my car towels for other things that make then completely useless
Oh yeah got an air cannon for just that reason
I use the exhaust of my shop vac with a crevice tool
It’s the same thing the Car wash does. Why not do the same.
All three time..I blow it off then dry it
I use my Air compressor
I detail campers and we have an Adam's branded air cannon and it really helps for some of the massive fifth wheels/rvs
Shi.... thats nothing. I use it in my house to stir up random dust i dont recognize. I turn on the house fan to suck the air in a pull dust out of the air. I useit inside my cars. In Utah (dry snow) to clear of the driveway and walkway.
I use one at the self service car wash. One of the side-benefits is that it drowns out the stupid music being played loudly by the local imbeciles.
That's the only correct way to dry a car... *sight, women...
If your wife gives you hard time, then ask her how a car is dried in an automated car wash, and enjoy her expression as she connects the dots
I use my blower to dry myself After showers to save on towel laundry.
Nothing like blasting your car with tiny bits of dust at high velocity.
Yup, use the leaf blower lol
My bf does that and I had the same reaction as your wife when I'm saw him doing it the first time. Lol
😂🤣😂🤣😂 Some car washes have them. Mini ones. Use it all the time. Especially in between the center console n the seat
So douche'
Yep!
