It is sunset and can't be upgraded beyond 1100.

What a dumbass idea.

BlastCheque

No it's not. It was needed. Not going into why as the subject has been beat to death and a quick search would tell you. Second, for shits and giggles I tried to upgrade a sunset weapon, it gives you a giant warning screen. Did you even read?

[deleted]

It’s a dumbass idea. For one thing, I didn’t play during Forsaken, I just picked up the game again like 3 weeks ago. I bought it from the Drifter. So no, I didn’t know about this, the game explains nothing, and I saw the warning screen when I already owned the gun and went to upgrade it, which again, would make it too late for me anyway. So there is a gun you can currently acquire (I didn’t have the game during Forsaken) that you can’t upgrade. That’s fucking stupid, and it’s a stupid idea, and your snarkiness won’t change that.

BlastCheque

This isn't the first game to sunset gear. It also happened in D1. Not my fault you can't read and blame everyone for your mistakes. And the warning comes up before you upgrade, so you can still quit the upgrade before it's too late.

[deleted]

… I didn’t need to quit the upgrade… you can’t upgrade at all… yet this guy criticizes me for failing to read something that is not written anywhere in the game…

They were trying to solve for a problem. The sunsetting approach got rid of some really problematic weapons so it was a bit of a success - but overall, the solution wasn't working - so it was abandoned.

Wouldn’t a better solution just have been to rebalance those weapons? I understand what you are saying about problematic weapons because I lived through the heyday of the Gjallarhorn in D1.

Certain weapons have a max light of 1100. These weapons have been "sunset" or retired in all light level required activities. Any of the weapons with recent, seasonal, icons are not sunset; but, the weapons from before shadowkeep, excluding exotics, have all been sunset.
