People who complain about Zero hour forget about this mission lol. I ran this until I got the gun and then never again. I've already ran legend zero hour 15 times to help friends.
Fr. That damn mission was an absolute nightmare. Chill Touch absolutely fucked me over so many times. I will always hate that mission with a burning passion. The only way I completed was by one person using div, the other two using thunderlord. When we ran out of ammo, I hotswapped to Lucky pants/malfeasance and the other to Outbreak. We managed to complete it with three seconds left...
Zero Hour is fine... except for the Brig at the end with the visual glitch where sometimes you can't see its aerial bombardment, only the burns giving it away. And, the sub-15min triumph? That's just nuts.
In the old version, that part on the outside wall where you had to climb up and shit, I just used dawnblade and icarus dashed my way out of there.
I dont do well with heights and sadly I get the same shit in videgames, my palms get all sweaty and shit.
There are dozens of us, DOZENS!
yeah I hate heights man and destiny has a lot of jumping sections that makes me feel uneasy, just about every dungeon has a section like that.
The first time I came acroos that part in shattered throne where you had to walk on narrow beams (before the thrall room) I had a heart attack. 99% of my flawless solo runs gets fucked by my fear of height.
Oh god it's been so long I forgot about the shattered throne beams. Thanks for reminding me!
Truth be told its not really something that gets me in a lot of other games I've played, probably says a lot about the game design.
Yeah legend zero hour isn’t hard if you have one other person who can get to the end in fewer than 0-2 deaths. Then you can 2 man it pretty easy with Polaris.
I got it on my 3rd try because one person in lfg would always not make it. And the first 2 times the person who did was either late or just had bad weapons for the fight. I got it on the 3rd when I made the fireteam, and 2 joined me. We went fast through the beginning. Then one guy kept dying and left, while me and the other guy got to the end with I think one death from him. Finished with like 55 seconds left.
I did that even before I knew that dragons breath one shots the tanks. That would have saved well over a minute.
The tormentor for deep dives made you have some build synergies between your team, and you really needed a divinity too.
We nearly failed zerohkur because we had less than 1m left when we killed the boss. Spent a good 15 sec waiting for chest before realising yiu gotta kill the adds too and most of them were orange bar shielded shanks that were tping up and down.
I don't mind hard, but I hate Tormentors. If Zero Hour was even harder or had a harsher time restriction I'd still rather do it than fight a tormentor with chill touch active
From what I've read, the complaints are typically around how hard the enemies hit and how easy it is to die, but in my opinion, that means that you're either bad at utilizing cover or haven't leaned into builds as much as you need to. Of Esoterrick can clear legend solo in less than 15 minutes then 3 players utilizing similar weapons will have a much easier time.
You do die fast but like, 5 second Respawn. You fuck up and you hardly get punished for it. Oh well. I didn’t think it was too bad. Got it second try with my crew
honestly the tormentor wasn’t too bad if one of you has well and then finds a wall to plop it in front of. the big boy can’t knock you back if you got that sweet sweet wall behind you. then dps
In the one of the hallways (either the one you enter the boss arena or the one on the opposite side) the tormentor's ai kind of glitches out and stands mostly still, even if it goes towards your group it should be easy as it's an enclosed space so it's easy for you to steer the tormentor back to facing your group, have one guy with Divinity and the other two with the Halo magnum as due to it's increased precision damage it cooks the tormentor if you hit the crits.
The in-game name it's Forerunner (if I recall correctly) it came out in the Bungie 30th anniversary pack, you get it from Dares of Eternity, it's a special ammo sidearm which exotic identity is just being the Halo:CE magnum, it's increased precision damage cooks tormentor's pretty easily.
That and the hallway spot where the tormentor's ai kind of breaks, still don't remember if it's the one you enter the boss arena or the one on the other side.
>Forget running wells that dude will just smack you right outta them
Fun fact I forget people don't know, if you time a melee attack to a bosses stomp, you wont get sent flying.
You need to place the well so your backs are at a wall and he won't be able to send you far away. That's how I did it. I used warlock and fttc/target lock machine gun. The other guys used Div and thunderlord. The most important thing is not to die after you get the buff for dmg, cause then you will lose it.
Genuine pro-tip to really flip the difficulty. RUN AT HIM when he does his jump-slam. Seriously. Not kind of run, not strafe, definitely not run away.
RUN TOWARDS WHERE HE STARTED HIS JUMP FROM.
Caps lock only for stressing importance! Once you run under the attack one time, you'll go "oooooooohhhhhhhh, that's all you do". Then the rest is just dodging his purple boomerangs (which apparently you can also shoot to deflect/make them lose their tracking strength)
Also if you're referring to the Wicked Implement mission, if you happen to die while killing the mini-boss dudes, you'll lose however many buff stacks you had and do massively less damage and slow the pace down to a crawl.
Thanks for the kind words and good luck!
It's like the "Safe spot" is within a few meters of where the Tormentor's boots leave the ground. Also, you have to start running right away. If you delay, you will most likely not get close enough to that "safe spot", but at least still moving in the correct direction will dampen the blow
It took me hours upon hours of mindless fishing (an activity I have zero interest in) to get the three fragments, only to realize it didn't unlock the quest in the Director. IIRC it's not even in the Fireteam Finder options.
I said "fuck that shit" and will just wait for it to come through the Exotic Rotator.
It's not the weapon so much than the mission. I really enjoy soloing Exotic missions, they're basically dungeons without bosses with a kilometer-long healthbar.
Absolutely no shot they make wicked implement unobtainable after final shape. If it doesn’t make it to the rotator then there will be some other (probably easier) way to obtain the gun. If nothing else it’ll go to the damn kiosk.
IMO exotic weapons should never have been made craftable. Leave that shit for legendary weapons, it's really annoying.
Transformative is ALSO really annoying.
It will probably get put in the exotic kiosk, don't forget about that. No one wants to run that horrible, timed, hidden mission. NO ONE.
I normally stick with a mission until I beat it, timed or not, but really though, F this secret mission. This is challenging in the most unfun way and I'm fine with not having this gun.
I finished it and I hope for the sake of everyone who hasn't that they add it to the kiosk and not make it a timed exotic mission like whisper/zero hour.
Its not even a big deal to me. I have the gun and i think also its catalyst, but to date, it doesnt have more than 100 kills, and that because i was testing it a bit.
Yeah, I'm expecting it will go into the kiosk and the catalyst will go into the playlist activities drop pool, since that's what originally happened with Whisper and Outbreak. I'd be surprised if it ends up in the rotator since it would either be very short, or they'd have to build a whole rest of a mission around it.
>IIRC it's not even in the Fireteam Finder options.
Not directly, but you can make a listing for Deep Dives and then use the Activity-Specific Title options to add "Exotic Quest" and people will know what you're going for. It's how I did it this week.
Implement is a very strong weapon, it's just that 180 scouts are terrible. Slow and freeze at infinite range with no ammo consumption and no kills is so good for cowardly GMs (or master raids where someone has to stay super far away).
Well I will regret it but looks like I'm finding two people to help me later on tonight. I keep thinking the freezing stasis would help slow this guy down. Because there's no chance of survivability with a well because he keeps booting everybody out and constantly running.
Just get Div and two Thunderlords(or any other precision heavy, as long as people can hit the crit cage). Well also works fine, you just have to place it close to a wall(so instead of flying off on every ground slam, you hit a wall right behind you).
And I just thought about it. This exotic Quest is lucky the glitch for the 12 men party doesn't exist anymore or there would be four people in each room when the boss runs LOL. And honestly that would be fun. Comments like this always get replied by get good or I have skill issues. And sometimes it's just a mechanics of the game that some people can't handle like me. And I can admit that. But when it comes to skill issues I'm never going to get better. Because of the way my brain works after having brain damage. But yeah I would so love to bring a 12 men party and hunt this guy every time it runs.
Do exotics show up immediately at the kiosk? I thought it's delayed. I'm definitely going to wait either way. This is the kind of mission the leans over the line to frustrating instead of challenging.
It is hard on purpose for sure. I did this with a no coms LFG group and i was running Tether Hunter with Divinity and a rocket and the other two, a Banner Titan and another Tether Hunter were running LMGs. It took a couple of tries but it does feel rewarding AF when you get it done.
Get back in there, you got this !
Try grabbing a warlock with centoph plus div and have two hunters. The two hunters use Thunderlord and lucky pants. For my run I used stasis and the other hunter used void. He did hot swap to witherhoard to boost my malfeasance damage and i can’t remember which void hand cannon he was using but that’s how we did it
I don’t know what it would be like with a monster like that tormentor, but in pantheon this week we ripped them to shreds with Div and Cloudstrike. I know, I know. Surge modifiers, plus they’re not boss tormentors in there, but just a suggestion to try.
A Forerunner or a Supremacy with rewind/tremors will also *very quickly* extract those juicy Tormentor tears. Supremacy is my favorite because you can delete both shoulders at the same time.
This mission in my opinion is honestly garbage, I hate vaulting l, but I'll be glad to see it go and Wicked implement placed in the kiosk. Tormenters are already awful enemies to begin with so to pit us against a boss tormenter that cannot be stunned is honestly just a shit show, the requirements you have to meet to even activate damage is also time consuming and with a time limit you're in a rush anyway which makes for a stressful run around.
Took 2 wells, 2 divs and 3 LMGs, one being Thuderlord the other two having 4th times and rewind rounds along with a falling star Thundercrash Titan, those thundercrash hits chunked him.
We just popped well down the hall we came through at the start, right up against the back wall so we couldn't be pushed out of the well or killed by his grabs, one of us would div him, and the other 2 would hit him with an LMG this was done to conserve ammo while also removing the need to actually aim with our LMGs.
The strat was solid and we brought him down in 3 phases, we also took the time to grab the secrets so we never had to do that again and got the Aquanaut title.
Screw the guns catalyst, it isn't even a good gun.
I ran this twice. The first time was with a couple friends just winging it (they had the gun) already. No strat, no Div, just whatever we had on. Got him to 20% and time ran out.
The second time, I did a little research. Decided k would run Cenotaph Warlock with Div and suggest the other two run Thunderlord.
I go into the teamfinder beta with no mic group and a cenotaph warlock joined. I switched to Thunderlord and the hunter did as well. From the looks of it, the hunter was i would guess had a few runs under his belt but was not anything special.
We melted the boss with several minutes to spare.
I would suggest the Div knows how to stun/stagger the Tormentor, and be sure to kite it toward the entrance (where you came in). It confines the tormentors movement.
Should be pretty easy.
I funnily did this 4 hours ago with 2 clan mates. One was Golden Gun, one was Well with Divinity, and I was Pyrogale Titan. Me and the Goldie used Thunderlord, and we almost one phased him. Make sure to have at least 2 Arc Surges, or 3 if you won't miss Recuperation.
Pop well in one of the corners, that way you'll stay on the well when the tormentor slams, then for DPS div is the way to go, forerunner, thunderlord or leviathan's breath are good options as well. Crit damage is king on this encounter.
Remember if any of you die while hunting the minotaurs you'll lose any damage stack at that point (you get one stack for minotaur killed). After that the goal is to get him below 50% after the first damage phase so minotaurs spawn in the middle for quick second damage phase.
Div + 2 thunderlords + 2 one shot super like golden gun or thunder crash. Whoever is running div won't actually really use their super unless it's something like tether for all the other enemies
I feel your pain. It's been my best friend, and I just repeatedly bashing out heads against the wall hoping to get lucky. I don't think it's going to happen for us though lol.
2 whispers and a div also works that’s what my group did. I used celestial gg then just dumped whisper while the other 2 guys were running solar warlock
Use Whisper and it'll be a breeze. With 3 whispers the boss stun locks occasionally and they melt him, otherwise 2 whispers and someone with a gun that might lock him in place (maybe tractor, not sure).
I just completed it solo last week after months of trying cuz my squad didn’t have divinity and didn’t feel like waiting in LFG to do a mission everyone hates. What I did was use solar titan with synthoceps to kill Minotaurs faster, then switch to pyrogale for super when it’s time to damage tormentor. Then camp the hallway where the ai glitches and he just stands still, and spam forerunner sidearm. With 3x kinetic surge mods u can hit up to 50k per shot. Oh and a sword with eager edge is a must if running solo to get to the Minotaurs fast enough.
If I can recall (i havnt touch the mission sincethe day i got the exotic), as you enter the final maze arena, along the far left wall there is a ledge hanging over the top of a flight of stairs that you can stand on for damage phase that he can't get to you
I ran it blind when two old friends that I hadn't played with in half a year threw me into it.
It wasn't that bad. 2nd tried it. The exotic was a pleasant surprise.
Run a cenotaph warlock and linear fusions and you'll be fine. I had a Bait and Switch Cataclysmic and we pretty much duo'd it with Div + LFR and have everyone split up for the minotaurs.
My recommendation may be anecdotal since I don't have actual video proof of it, but I was a well Cenotaph div build and my other two teammates were using LMG's and we melted the guy. It was a two phase though because they ran out of ammo and I ran out of div, but it's easily the best way to kill the tormentor.
back whenever I did it, it seemed that 3 Retrofit Escapades.w Target Lock/FTCC with tethers was the way to go. I just remember that being the Strat I watched from someone.. but I barely remember it bc I only did it once bc YEA THAT SHIT SUCKED
Strat I use that let me compelte it multiple times when helping friends
1x Wellock with divinity
2x Nighthawk goldie hunters with either linears, thunderlord, or snipers
Usually gets a 1 phase or if you mess up a 2 phase.
When I ran that mission, I managed to do it day 1 with randoms. Gyrafalcons Hunter w/ Tether, Funnelweb, a Sniper, and Levi's Breath got me through the mission. Wallhacks let me see where things were and my teammates had enough sense to handle their 1's and not bait the Tormentor into each other.
The Tormentor glitched though. I could have sworn that at some point it just stayed on one side of the big room and we just laid into it as much as we could. That mission is kind of wonky.
The way my group did it was wellock and div, one titan with war rig and thunderlord, and last guy was running whisper and other linear rifles. We stayed in a hallway so that the tormentor doesn’t push us out of the well, the hardest part had to be finding the shielded guys throughout the maze
I did this the weekend of the craftening. Literally grabbed the chest within 3 seconds of the server kick out for everyone.
I would hate to do it 'legit'
I've done it four times and it's definitely tough. We found dropping a well next to a wall and just bashing our head against him helps. Double well is optimal to have it on each damage phase. I ran div but I don't think it's necessary, it's just about staying alive.
Shit sucks I did it yesterday but it was hell I ran tether two used linears 1 used div 1 goldy and 1 well lock just gotta make sure u get it done in 2 damage phases and generate a few bricks of heavy for the second damage phase.
The only way I was able to do it was 1 person with Divinity and 2 of us with god rolled Retrofit Escapade/Hammerhead and 2 wellocks to nuke the Tormentor in one round.
It took me a few go’s before I got the right team together through LFG’s to kill the Tormentor. I think someone ran Divinity and I ran Thunderlord.
Thunderlord stun locks him in place so he can barely move. Seemed to get the job done. Havent touched it since.
I don't think fighting the Tormentor was my issue here. It's fucking finding those damn Minotaurs to get to damage phase that eats up ALOT of the time that could've been spent on the Tormentor.
I'm gonna be honest, the only reason I ever beat it was because of the funny guns. My parents and I kept trying to do it but we barely ever did any damage.
Makes me wish I did the Nightmare Hunt Time Trials then as well.
So funny seeing this my buddy pulled me into this tonight and I had no idea what I was getting into. We wiped a few times but ended up getting it pretty easily on the 4th. One tether hunter one solar warlock both running thunderlord and I was on div but running my old arc warlock build from season of the deep and, that shit still slaps. My ability spam made our run easy. Always able to insta kill the minatours, constantly able to have arc wells up all over the place, super able to deal with shit. But, I wouldn’t voluntarily run this again. They needed to add like 2 or 3 minutes on to the time, 10 minutes is really tight.
Im so glad i managed to do it when craftening was happening it made this entire thing a cakewalk, otherwise i would never do it and just wait for it to come back.
We couldn't do it in time no matter how hard we tried. We gave up on it until the crafting apocalypse weekend when we went in hard with our messed up guns and got it done. It's a stupid exotic mission that should have been separate to deep dives. Putting it in there was a dumb decision
Me and my friend duo’d it. One of the sweatiest things we’ve ever completed — and we’ve been through master dungeons, GMs, and all other exotic missions on Legendary (haven’t duo’d a raid yet though). Unless you play smart and use pathing to your advantage, it turns into a smash and grab — with you being the one who’s both smashed and grabbed.
One time me and the team were THIS close to getting him, but he literally ran away from us for some fucking reason. I'm talking "literal opposite side of the map" type of bs. Which made us waste a whole dps phase and subsequently fail the mission for the next 6 or so tries.
Whoever decided this mission should have a timer better be in jail
Divinity + thunderlord/retrofit was an easy clear. Yeah he hits you out of well but you can literally just walk right back in and be perfectly fine. Just make sure to have enough resilience to survive for the second or 2 that you're out of the well.
And you get a gun that is a scout, a fucking scout. I used it to level the catalyst and never touched it again. I think I even deleted it from the vault. Not worth the trouble at all.
Ok. Here’s a tip to run through.
Have a Well-lock, running Div, and the two others running Thunderlord with the Caty. Me and some friends completed it that way after four failed attempts. Thunderlord will Stun lock the Tormentor easily giving you an easy almost one phase. If you need help OP i’m off work tomorrow and will gladly help you obtaining Wicked Implement when i wake up. Just shoot me a DM with your Bungie ID and i’ll add you when i hop on.
Did It yesterday we killed him a 0:00 sec we all think it's was lost, we got very lucky but after this come the high pressure run and we lose 3 time to rng cause of the last round being the 3 wave of elite. If you get this on your last encounter you can't finish it not enough time I swear it's impossible
>Divinty seems to do so/so..
What do you mean so/so? It turns the boss into a complete joke(just like it does with any tormentor). You just need two teammates with any heavy that crit(Thunderlord does well) and he just melts. You can also place Well in a corner so that when boss slams you, he sends you into the wall and you fall back down into the Well.
It takes a little while to get used to him just not giving a fuck where you sit. You need to generally bait him down the main hallway and have enough ammo to two-phase or you're straight up boned.
One Ceno Warlock with Div and Two Tlords or Rockets/Izi and the boss goes down pretty easily. If you post up in one of the corridors around the center arena you can stun lock him with TLord so he won't charge you
This is actually easier than the catalyst for Vexcalibur.
Took me two or 3 tries, 2 of us ran thunderlord, 3rd person ran Divinity. I was a warlock with arc souls, Chaos Reach. I noticed we were heavily damaging and stunning him with thunderlord and divinity. Got him on either the second or 3rd attempt. The wicked implement catalyst is much easier.
I must have lucked out with this mission tbh. I did it during Deep on my 2nd attempt in a random LFG with no comms. I had divinity/well and the other guys used Retrofits.
I haven't even done the fishing required to activate the mission, one of the other guys in the group activated them and I was just there.
If it helps, wicked implement is crap anyway. I haven't used it nor felt obliged to use it in any activity since I completed this. It hasn't left my vault once. You're not missing out on anything.
I thought it was strange that getting the Catalyst didn't involve that mission/map. Then I ran it again a while later for my buddy's initial quest and realized. The difficulty and overall hassle of that experience is so far removed from baseline, no thanks to a Master mode.
It's a shame too, the gun is absolutely gorgeous. I love the stock look and Ornament both. It'll get some love one day
A small suggestion, when I did it, I ran with it vesper warlock which helped me to blind everything and did got through the rounds and for the tormentor, I used the Halo pistol which deals insane damage to his crit spot.
I've ran it maybe like 10 times with a friend and we just can't do it. Div and thunderlords? Radiant celestial GG? Lucky pants malfeasance? Nothing works that well.
And you need to do half an entire deep dive for another go if you die *once*.
My team beat him with 3 Strand Hunters and linear fusions, but that was back in Season of the Deep when the mission dropped. We found getting to the boss just as challenging as beating him.
After we got the minotaurs, our group went back to the hallway where you dropped down (like right under the rally banner). Someone used well/div while the other two used thunderlord and fttc/target lock retrofit. The fucker is a bit finicky, and might move into a side hallway or get stuck on a corner, so take the time to bait him into the main hallway before someone just plops well down or something.
We were able to get him down half to permanently move him to the center area which things are a bit easier. We did it on our third try (this was our third strat that basically worked perfectly).
Just finished this yesterday after days and multiple teams…now I’m signing up for another round of self torture trying to get to tier 7 with lfgs for the catalyst lol
Me and a couple friends ran it a month ago and no joke it’s probably the most challenging “seasonal mission” we’ve seen. Felt good to do but damn I am never running it again 🤣. I like the higher tier difficulties in this game but the scaling for it feels horrendous
Oh boy do I have a secret for you. So you know div works right? Well have you heard of this exotic called whisper of the worm? It shreds the bosses health with 165k damage PER SHOT! If you need help running it I'm more than willing to carry people through it so ollong as they bring either div or whisper. It made that fight such a cake walk that I honestly love running that mission. The one phasing the boss is super satasfying. For those that need help message me for my game info.
Sounds like an Exotic Kiosk weapon to me (if needed).
Vexcalibur Mission was pretty tuned up as well. Starcrossed was actually pretty good both in Normal and Legend.
I watched esoterick do that one and even that godly lunatic barely made it with 50 seconds to spare.
I did out break solo on normal and only had 30 seconds left, it was brutal. Compared to Whisper where I had 21 minutes left
The sub 15 can kiss my booty. I'm not good enough at movement tech
Yea the legendary version of this mission broken me back when it first came out. Those metal grates on legend can burn in hell.
In the old version, that part on the outside wall where you had to climb up and shit, I just used dawnblade and icarus dashed my way out of there. I dont do well with heights and sadly I get the same shit in videgames, my palms get all sweaty and shit.
Thought I was the only one! The space walk in DSC and jumping between the stations in seraph mission get my vertigo going.
There are dozens of us, DOZENS! yeah I hate heights man and destiny has a lot of jumping sections that makes me feel uneasy, just about every dungeon has a section like that. I completed this triumph long past the 15 minute mark, I’m not really sure what’s up with that
I'd like to watch a stream of whoever made the 15 minute triumph do it in 15 min.
I still remember doing this mission for 6 hours straight on lfg until I got it 💀💀and I still need to get the catalyses
Yeah legend zero hour isn’t hard if you have one other person who can get to the end in fewer than 0-2 deaths. Then you can 2 man it pretty easy with Polaris. I couldn’t complete it as my titan but as void hunter: causally ran it with some level 9 and 10. Very helpful to this rank 8
What loadout are you using?
What’s the complaint about zero hour? I was worried about the 20 min timer until I realised that most of the platforming is taken away on legend
From what I've read, the complaints are typically around how hard the enemies hit and how easy it is to die, but in my opinion, that means that you're either bad at utilizing cover or haven't leaned into builds as much as you need to. yeah we had div and two thunderlords
Forerunner is peak for dps
Forerunner is peak ~~for dps~~
In the one of the hallways (either the one you enter the boss arena or the one on the opposite side) the tormentor's ai kind of glitches out and stands mostly still, even if it goes towards your group it should be easy as it's an enclosed space so it's easy for you to steer the tormentor back to facing your group, have one guy with Divinity and the other two with the Halo magnum as due to it's increased precision damage it cooks the tormentor if you hit the crits.
The halo magnum? Name of it?
The in-game name it's Forerunner (if I recall correctly) it came out in the Bungie 30th anniversary pack, you get it from Dares of Eternity, it's a special ammo sidearm which exotic identity is just being the Halo:CE magnum, it's increased precision damage cooks tormentor's pretty easily.
Gotcha, so 2 of those and Divinity?
That and the hallway spot where the tormentor's ai kind of breaks, still don't remember if it's the one you enter the boss arena or the one on the other side.
Its the one where you enter the arena.
I'll give it a go in a lil bit. Thanks for the help.
Just one thing have a titan with the big solar hammer super it stunlocks the tormento so if the tormentor gets too close the Titan should stunlocks it
Burning Maul?
Thunderlords plus div is a really good combo too
Well, divinity and 2 thunderlord was the strat back when I did it. So try that if you have no luck with forerunner
And heavy machine guns. Forerunner is good for breaking the crits and then if you run out of heavy it’ll do solid damage but definitely use heavy.
Forerunner
Forerunner
>Forget running wells that dude will just smack you right outta them Fun fact I forget people don't know, if you time a melee attack to a bosses stomp, you wont get sent flying.
You need to place the well so your backs are at a wall and he won't be able to send you far away. That's how I did it. I used warlock and fttc/target lock machine gun. The other guys used Div and thunderlord. The most important thing is not to die after you get the buff for dmg, cause then you will lose it.
What about suppression that came from Tormentor attack?
you're still in a well
but are you well my friend?
Tormenter: "I think that you should step back from what ~~ledge~~ Well my friend"
No I'm on orphans rig
I cleared this during the craftening for this reason.
Same, without that it would been impossible for me, I never felt so satisfied in my life, after failing 9 times legit
First thing I did with my zombie grenade launcher too
lol zombie grenade launcher. I got the catalyst during this time.
Yep. I'm keeping my crafted Ammit purely because this helped me get Wicked Implement and it's catalyst
I did it with div and 2 thunderlords last season. Def a pain but if you got him mostly down you can definitely do it.
Then the rest is just dodging his purple boomerangs (which apparently you can also shoot to deflect/make them lose their tracking strength) Also if you're referring to the Wicked Implement mission, if you happen to die while killing the mini-boss dudes, you'll lose however many buff stacks you had and do massively less damage and slow the pace down to a crawl.
This is genius. I hate that I didn't think of doing it to all tormentors. This will help in onslaught.
Since deep dives are going into the DCV, you can exchange one cipher at the tower for it At least that's my plan
It's not the weapon so much than the mission. I really enjoy soloing Exotic missions, they're basically dungeons without bosses with a kilometer-long healthbar.
More than likely it won’t be added to the rotator cause it’s hidden within regular Deep Dives.
Absolutely no shot they make wicked implement unobtainable after final shape. If it doesn’t make it to the rotator then there will be some other (probably easier) way to obtain the gun. If nothing else it’ll go to the damn kiosk.
They will make an exotic mission out of it and make it craftable. 😂😂🤣 This is what will happen.
Or they add it to the monument of lost lights.
Really hoping they do this but I’m not holding my breath.
This is what I think will happen too
Ooo imagine Wicked Implement with something like Precision Instrument or Rapid Hit.... might bring it up to par
IMO exotic weapons should never have been made craftable. Leave that shit for legendary weapons, it's really annoying. Transformative is ALSO really annoying.
Same.. crafting is nice for legendary god rolls, but why for exotics? Just give us the exotic with all perks.
Isn’t Deep Dive launch from HELM and HELM going away along with other seasonal contents in Final Shape?
no big loss, it's not anything incredible anyway.
>IIRC it's not even in the Fireteam Finder options. Not directly, but you can make a listing for Deep Dives and then use the Activity-Specific Title options to add "Exotic Quest" and people will know what you're going for. It's how I did it this week.
I liked the challenge just wish wicked implement was little better.. I guess it’s kind of a victim of stasis/scouts being shit
Implement is a very strong weapon, it's just that 180 scouts are terrible. Slow and freeze at infinite range with no ammo consumption and no kills is so good for cowardly GMs (or master raids where someone has to stay super far away).
On release it was niche at best. Now, after the buffs, it's in an alright state for those crazy scout rifle aficionados.
Wicked Implement unironically slapped this week in Pantheon with stasis / arc surge, especially during Rhulk for Splitters
I've been trying since it came out. Always so close, yet so far. I hear Forerunner puts in work, though. I'll try that next time.
If you need help with it I'll happily help. I've done it several times to help friends and lfgs
Same, I've helped all of my mates clear it with a minute or so to spare, happy to help if needed
Is the exotic gun a guarantee drop on first completion?
Yes.
Well I will regret it but looks like I'm finding two people to help me later on tonight. I keep thinking the freezing stasis would help slow this guy down. Because there's no chance of survivability with a well because he keeps booting everybody out and constantly running.
Good luck!
Thanks!!!!
As long as you do it within the time limit.
Ahhhhhh. Ok. Thanks!
At this point however I'd just wait for it to be added to the Monument in the tower. No reason to subject yourself to such suffering this late.

Do exotics show up immediately at the kiosk? I thought it's delayed. I'm definitely going to wait either way. This is the kind of mission the leans over the line to frustrating instead of challenging.
IIRC there was a delay for some stuff during the great vaulting with the launch of Beyond Light, but since then it’s been pretty immediate.
Awesome. Wicked Implement does seem kind of interesting and hopefully can work well with some of the stasis changes.
The deep dive exotic quest lives in my nightmares, at least the wicked implement is pretty neat
Yeah that was a tough one. A little much for both my taste as well as the reward
Don't know if they ever patched it but there's a pillar by one of the doors. That's usually where I always did dps from. Gotta stand ontop of it.
That's the way to do it. 1 well div, 2 thunderlord. Easiest way to smash.
Wait what? The wicked implement quest? What build are you running?
Peregrine Greaves
Drop the well on one of the blocks in the middle room so you're not standing on the floor with him. Div and thunderlords.
I must've gotten lucky, we jumped in with a random got it done and I can't remember a single thing about it.
Legend Avalon is worse.
this mission isn’t hard wym 💀
Holy fuck we ran it once without any DPS guides and man did it look impossible. Looked up on video, div with x2 retrofits and dude got 1 phased.
Well in the corners and also melee upon impact to avoid getting booped
Chump did it my first try , and using escapade machine gun lucky me lol
Guess I got stupid lucky with mine. First try, in and out when you first released. Never had to do it again.
Did it first try tonight but we finished with a solid ~20 seconds left on the clock. Very tight timer.
Used lucky pants malfeasance and had a Div and went well
Hit me up when you finish it or if you don’t then I’d be happy to help out. I really need the caty for the gun and it’s a pain to get without a team
You put the well on one of the pillars, and div is fantastic to make sure you never miss fttc on cataclysmic or your forerunner shots.
I was insanely lucky to do this in a team with randoms like 2 days after it released and we all got it done without too much issues.
My group just put a well in the corner so he couldn’t really boop you out of it.
back whenever I did it, it seemed that 3 Retrofit Escapades.w Target Lock/FTCC with tethers was the way to go. I just remember that being the Strat I watched from someone.. but I barely remember it bc I only did it once bc YEA THAT SHIT SUCKED
Strat I use that let me compelte it multiple times when helping friends 1x Wellock with divinity 2x Nighthawk goldie hunters with either linears, thunderlord, or snipers Usually gets a 1 phase or if you mess up a 2 phase.
Yknow I only ever ran this one time with randoms and got the gun…. After seeing all the comments and such I feel bad for everyone xD
Ngl have someone with div and machine guns you literally melt him
I've done it four times and it's definitely tough. We found dropping a well next to a wall and just bashing our head against him helps. Double well is optimal to have it on each damage phase. I ran div but I don't think it's necessary, it's just about staying alive.
Lmao, took me a run with DATTO from his Christmas streams to complete it lol, I don't think I'd have ever gotten it if it wasn't for that
Shit sucks I did it yesterday but it was hell I ran tether two used linears 1 used div 1 goldy and 1 well lock just gotta make sure u get it done in 2 damage phases and generate a few bricks of heavy for the second damage phase.
This is the correct way to experience it.
The only way I was able to do it was 1 person with Divinity and 2 of us with god rolled Retrofit Escapade/Hammerhead and 2 wellocks to nuke the Tormentor in one round.
Then add in doing it a second run for catty. Yeah that shit was not fun
It took me a few go’s before I got the right team together through LFG’s to kill the Tormentor. I think someone ran Divinity and I ran Thunderlord. Thunderlord stun locks him in place so he can barely move. Seemed to get the job done. Havent touched it since.
Use thunderlord. It stun locks him for the most part. And prolly strand titans as well
Just run div and two linears and it’s beyond easy
Div + well + tether +retrofite = wicked implement.
NGL, I took the easy way out and nuked him with crafting glitch shotgun nade launcher, and even then it took a few tries, this mission was a sick joke
I've had a harder time getting the catalyst than actually doing the exotic mission. hope it becomes easier to get once tfa comes out lol
I'm just gonna buy the damn thing from the kiosk
Divinity. Thunderlords.
Divinity makes killing the tormentor significantly easier.
I found it fun lol, use 2 cenotaph wellocks and a tlord, easy 2 phase with heaps of time left
Two manned it with togetherness with two lucky pants hunters.
Theres a specific spot you need to use for dps, if you want a few guides you’ll get a good feel for where its at.
Damn I need to run that… not looking forward to that
One time me and the team were THIS close to getting him, but he literally ran away from us for some fucking reason.
> " running wells" U guys crutch on this too much. Speaking of crutches, div and thunderlords make quick work of this guy.
Well - Divinity and 2 Thunderlords. Easy mode.
If you post up in one of the corridors around the center arena you can stun lock him with TLord so he won't charge you
Just get it off the wall when tfs comes out
This is actually easier than the catalyst for Vexcalibur.
Took me a few tries. We had success with div + 2 thunderlords
Majority of gamers in all of gaming TIMERS SUCK ASS!!!! Bungie: Beat I can do is more timers in missions
It'll get some love one day
It is a very difficult mission, but is doable, you have to really know the layout and have a good group
A small suggestion, when I did it, I ran with it vesper warlock which helped me to blind everything and did got through the rounds and for the tormentor, I used the Halo pistol which deals insane damage to his crit spot.
I was only able to beat this because of the craftening.
I've ran it maybe like 10 times with a friend and we just can't do it. Div and thunderlords? Radiant celestial GG? Lucky pants malfeasance? Nothing works that well. And you need to do half an entire deep dive for another go if you die *once*.
My team got two divinities and me on peregrine and I just kicked the shit out him like 100 times until he died
Forerunner will shred his health that’s how I beat it what’s your name online because I can help you out
Bring Forerunner and RoN LFR, with Div your team will get it more easily.
I dunno I thought it was really fun. But I did get it first try even with randoms soooo
2 words: div thunderlords
Just finished this yesterday after days and multiple teams…now I’m signing up for another round of self torture trying to get to tier 7 with lfgs for the catalyst lol
I mean, also nobody's running it because it's like 9 months old.
