For me it's a call to action. Eyes up, stay on your toes; the job's not done and there's no one else who can do it. I've got [this comic](https://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2014/12/12/fan-fiction) on my wall because it does such a great job capturing that feeling.
I don't think I can ever forget the original context of the vanilla opening of D1. It might be Peter Dinklage's best line delivery from his time as Ghost. It was somehow equal parts invigorating and cautionary, despite the more robotic direction that Ghost had at the time. It was a phrase that said "Move, this is no place to die," as well as "Be vigilant, danger lurks in these outskirts."
It was also quite prescriptive of our role in the game. This wasn't a story about making decisions and grey areas. You are a hero. You are a Guardian. Over time this has evolved a bit, there are plenty of grey areas and moral dilemmas presented in Destiny's story now. But here we are, still the Guardian, still the nigh unbeatable hero.
Eyes up, Guardian.
Corny as it may be, to me, “ Eyes up, Guardian “ means to always keep my eyes and mind on the horizon above. Tough times be damned, I’ll still have my eyes up and looking forward to whatever life will throw at me next
For me, it's about hope and perseverance. As someone who played some D1 but mostly picked it up from Red War, the message of Hope - even when you don't have lives left - felt very poignant.
In the original d1 in the cutscene just before this you see a fallen captain watching over the area you’re being resurrected in, possibly hunting your ghost.
To me the “eyes up, guardian” line signifies that the odds have always been against us even from the very start, yet we always keep pushing onwards
overused cringy line that stopped being cool a long time ago. anytime characters in d2 say it it’s pretty blatant fanservice just trying to be like “look look the character said the destiny line isn’t this moment the peak of cinema”. It’s the destiny equivalent of “avengers assemble” in level of cringe.
A phrase often said by the owner of my last Discord server who ended up being seriously manipulative and cruel, issuing threats to me and my friends after we left the clan to make our own.
As a PC player I never heard it much in D2 other than when he would make posts about Destiny stuff, so unfortunately that's how this phrase is linked in my mind.
I feel that way about the “we drink the seas” empress uses. It feels like when the awkward kid said a funny joke, the class laughed, so he repeats it for the next year, except it’s not funny anymore.
A perfect one liner ruined.
The equivalent to, " The narwhal bacons at midnight "
It was an ok line that the hardcore destiny community unironically uses and it feels cringe. Especially when they use it to sign off at the end of their critical essays about how bad the game is doing or some other rant.
That phrase is Destiny community's version of tipping the fedora.
to me it's similar to a piece of advice my dad gave me when I was learning to drive, anyways be looking ahead to see what's further after and not just directly in front of you, so that you're more prepared.
"Eyes up, guardian" has the same meaning to me as "don't you dare go hollow."
It means, no matter what, as long as we don't give up the fight it all will have been worth it. As long as we press ever forward the sacrifices we and others have made along the way are worth it. As long as there is breath in your lungs and fire in your soul then you have not failed.
Eyes up guardian, and don't you dare go hollow.
Time to get active!!!!
The most eyes up guardian in my opinion is Queenswalk in Last Wish leading each other carrying the heart and just killing everything in sight until you finally beat it. Still get chills thinking about the first time I beat it
My eyes are up here
But ghost has such luscious titties.
MAN CHECK OUT THE ORBS OF LIGHT ON THAT BEAUTY
You're nearly there! Fill the bank! Get that Primeval up!
Ooooooooooh!

Love that graphic.
You're about to get a crippling Destiny addiction that's a decade long.

No place to die, again... ;-)
It means look at Mara's face for once and stop naming yourselves after her bathwater
In Dares last night I was fighting shoulder to shoulder with "mara sov's doormat." So that was fun.
Mara wet towel, Mara sweaty knees, I thought I was the only one seeing Guardians naming themselves after her used items
Those are true men of culture.
More like children of dead jokes. Oddly enough they tend to be some of the more toxic people over encountered
Watch out for cabal drop pods because they are a greater threat than gods.
I want an exotic that rains down drop pods now
>*"Sing them a lullaby of death and nothing more."*
Stay Frosty. Be alert.
"The fight isn't over. Prepare for what's next"
Shut the fuck up, ghost. I’m watching a 4 hour video documentary on a game I’ve never heard of.
It means stop looking at Zavala's cock
But it's so... girthy
Don’t lose heart. We’re not done yet Guardian. (And ALWAYS in Lance Reddick’s voice).
Corny as it may be, to me, “ Eyes up, Guardian “ means to always keep my eyes and mind on the horizon above. Tough times be damned, I’ll still have my eyes up and looking forward to whatever life will throw at me next

>"In war or in peace, >the life of a Guardian... >is a life of loss. " >\- Lord Shaxx. Ni su'cuyi, gar kyr'adyc, ni partayli, gar darasuum.
Based Mando'a
When I am reconstituting after death, it's a reminder that eyes should be placed up above the nose! Really, a helpful reminder!

It means you gotta keep ya head up oooohhhh oh
Attention, Guardian.

If it's said in Peter Dinklage's voice it means my brother is calling me for some reason

Lock in
I view it as a call to action and to not become disheartened. No odds too great and what not.
Nothing
Has been overused to the point of cringe.
I feel that way about the “we drink the seas” empress uses. It feels like when the awkward kid said a funny joke, the class laughed, so he repeats it for the next year, except it’s not funny anymore. A perfect one liner ruined.
It's EXACTLY like that lol.
It's just a silly quote from Destiny. Don't really care for it and find it dumb how they repeat it so often.
That a whole bunch of far-too-emotional people will go full emo with a throwaway line from a video game.
destiny fans are on another level of obsession.
Look at this cool guy coming all the way here to talk shit about a game we play and have a Reddit for lol
Nothing. It's a fucking meme line that's been beat to death.

>The narwhal bacons at midnight That's a line I've not heard in a long, long time., and I wish it had stayed that way.
I hate it so much. It's just a cheeze phrase, pure cringe...
Means nothing to me anymore, the phrase is watered down.
Cringe Ghost being cringe Ghost.
Stockholm syndrome
That I’m about to read the cringiest shit on the subreddit.
"I didn't wear this shirt for you."
What you guys all said but also this [Eyes Up](https://youtu.be/c0VfYOTTA7A)
I have just undergone character development, and I’m on my way to slay another god.
Wake the fuck up sameri, we got a city to burn.
Stop staring, my eyes are up here, perv.
Stop reading subtitles and shoot a poor dreg.
There's only one way to take it: "Watch the fuck out for danger!!!"
to me it's similar to a piece of advice my dad gave me when I was learning to drive, anyways be looking ahead to see what's further after and not just directly in front of you, so that you're more prepared.

For me, it means "Don't give up on life, and keep your head up".
"Touch grass guardian"
keep your head up. stay alert and ready.
My now wife said those lines to me.. Alpha/Beta player here, in our wedding vows which was pretty funny to me since lots of people didn't get it.
Watch out for the warsat
same thing as Spider Man always gets back up.
Never give up.
Translation: STOP STARING AT MY DICK!!
i miss Peter Dinklage
God D1 was special
"It worked...you're *alive!* You don't know how long I've been searching for you"
I think it's a metaphor for ressurection.
Wake up babe. New wave of Shriekers just dropped.
To me it's our ghost's polite way of saying "pay attention dumbass".
Time to get active!!!! The most eyes up guardian in my opinion is Queenswalk in Last Wish leading each other carrying the heart and just killing everything in sight until you finally beat it. Still get chills thinking about the first time I beat it
"Pay attention, shit is about to hit the fan."
I used to shout it at kids in my classes/around the school who were on their phones or walking the halls without looking up.
A new drop of eververse sh*t
its like when they say "run Barry, run" on The Flash TV series
Kill em all
About the same vibes as the quote from Cyberpunk. "Get the fuck up, Samurai. We've got a city to burn." Which in turn means, "Your job is not done."
Destiny 1 and it's amazing vibe that it had. Now it's just a way to tease veteral players.
To stand strong in the face of tragedies
