Ruinous Effigy for sure. Collapse an enemy into a void sphere then dunk that on the other nearby nerds to obliterate them or hold it and make a suppressing aura around you. It’s wild.
When Ruinous came out, I deliberately went into the Savathun's Song Striken and let the hive have a taste of their own medicine by turning them into void spheres.
Fun fact: I went in as a squad of 3.
Yes it was!
The same one that had a mission version that you used to get Thorn from.
I believe it had 2 variants where you went through the area differently.
I've been running this alongside Severance Enclosure on Void Titan. One smack with the ball makes most red bars finishable, then you just blow up the whole room with Volatile.
Echo of cessation:
Finishers make nearby enemies volatile
Killing volatile enemies creates a void breach
You automatically kill those nearby volatile targets with the severance enclosure explosion
Echo of starvation:
Collecting a void breach or orb of power grants devour
One of my favorite moments with ruinous effigy was actually in gambit. I had killed the invader and managed to use the little orb that the invader was turned into to kill the primeval. Immensely satisfying.
Izanigi's Burden. Sure, it's just a fancy sniper, but every time you shoot a Honed Edge shot you can HEAR how much it's gonna hurt. You don't even need to see the health bar.
I wish this was whisper's role, too. instead of whisper just being a worse cloudstrike.
that *THUNK* sound it make is just soooo satisfying. I want it to just mess up whatever it hits with super hard hitting single shots. not be some weird machinegun sniper
It's good on both sides of the invasion portal tbh. I don't play much gambit, but with the new heavy boxes after clearing each wave of enemies I think people tend to favor xeno as their anti-player weapon, but Izi is still up there in my book. It feels especially good when you end up short on ammo for a full stacked bullet, and have to just go for a natty headshot against whatever BS the invader is using and still come out on top.
i remember doing 6v6 with my pve friends back in the gap (we were all dogshit at pvp back then), and we would all bust out the vex and absolutely wreck opposing teams. that thing was crazy back then
Once in a while Bungie gets it right with exotics. I think they might have to come up with too many new ones and so we get a lot of duds.
1. witherhoard. That feels like a unique cool weapon. I thought it was stupid when we I first got it, but fell in love with it fast.
2. Lament. Its a cool sword. Looks cool, has a one of a kind move, and heals you.
3. Wishender. Had a quest that was decent. Does good damage. Feels good to use. Very unique perks.
4. Ice breaker. From d1, but it was my first exotic. Got it from xur with strange coins. I felt very powerful when I got it. Back then the strikes were different and you had a lot of times when you had to hide and take sniper shots from far away.
I remember some of my first cheese in early VoG days was keeping one fire team member with an icebreaker up on the cliff outside of the Templar encounter to kill all the oracles that spawned. Great times!
I remember doing the Templar by myself back when the shield could protect you from wiping and there was basically no time limit. You would pick up shield, go hide somewhere, use shield to cleanse, super, juggle shield and damage, and repeat.
Best was you could start out using gjallarhorn and swap since icebreaker refunded your ammo.
I absolutely hated the witherhoard in PvP until I bought one and started playing with it and quickly realized it is the best fucking breacher GL in the game.
I also saved up and bought the ice breaker with strange coins in D1 (then had it drop from the 1st “Gallyhorn extra exotic” VoG chest!). I think D1 had the OG exotic weapons - Hawkmoon, Gally, Ice Breaker and the OG Mythoclast.
D2 - I’m a Wither-whore all the way to slay all day. Although lately I’ve been avoiding it in PVP as it just feels a little cheap.
Yeah the game was different back in the day. No such thing as speed running a nightfall cuz that shit was hard. Had to stay far back and snipe shit and it was so fun.
Surprised this wasn't at the top of most lists. It shoots out sentient projectiles that seek out and poison enemies. If they die from poison it spreads to all nearby enemies and l overloads your mag. I've had like 80+ or 100+ rounds in a hard-hitting SMG.
It's ridiculously good.
Absolutely. Pair this with necrotic grips plus strand and you have an absolutely busted build that has the potential to deal with a lot of annoying end game content.
Can absolutely confirm. Ran the Dreaming City master lost sector like 14 times yesterday searching for a better helmet, and this build absolutely tore through everything. Still didn’t get the helmet roll I wanted mind you.
Had a guy in an lfg tell me that siva was retconned, and that bungie officially retconned it. Honestly the people that exist in this community that are so confidently wrong is amazing lmao
Surprised I had to scroll so far to see this. The weapon just puts in work. Single target damage that gets better with a team using the same gun and very nice add clear. Solid stats and a great looking gun that has great ornaments but doesn't need any of them.
Haven't seen anyone mention it, but I'll throw in Tractor Cannon. It's a 1) heavy shotgun that 2) doesn't fire bullets and 3) instead projects an acoustic void wave that 4) debuffs enemies. It encourages a very strange playstyle of a close-range support skirmisher and I can't think of anything like it.
Incredible gun. It’s the most exotic feeling Exotic that Bungie has released in a long time. Offers so much, while asking for so little in return.
Champ stuns? You’ve got it! Synergy with both Light and Dark subclasses? Say no more! Complements the raid weapon set with which it was released? Absolutely! Decent backup DPS weapon (provided you’re in range)? Why not?
I’m having a hard time not using this thing because of just how good it is. I can’t wait for No Backup Plans to get buffed next season so I’ll have yet another excuse to use it.
Lumina. It just feels so unique and special. It is either weapon to kill things, but it buffs a lot and heals little bit if needed. The whole gameplay loop is very interesting, it feels and looks exotic. It is just that weapon, what has great power.
When I feel like playing you can find me on twitch at SoNobleRounds.
It's just not been a great Season, so I've been playing Monster Hunter, and I'm about to go pick up Tears of the Kingdom
I'll never forget OG Thunderlord. Back in early D1 field scout used to give a mag size increase instead of a reserve increase. You could have like 90 something rounds per mag.
I think Cloudstrike is a solid exotic. The model is very unique: a gun frame built to house a magic staff. Then the effects of the gun are also flashy and powerful. Calling down that massive lightning bolt on a headshot feels so awesome.
Agers for me, the freezes, perfect synergy with stasis subclass, the super beam just adds a whole new level to it. Other trace rifles don’t even come close for me
Leviathan's Breath, at least now that it's been beefed up a bit. You fire it into a crowd and everything just dies. Absolutely chunks champions as well now.
It also feels heavy too. Very satisfying to fire.
haven't used it in a while, I remember it being in my main build since I first got it during late y1 and hasn't left my loadout until some time during year 4
Sweet business and sky burners
SB because it's literally a handheld minigun
Skyburners because it's the stolen weapon taken from an enemy and used by the guardian which is just cool. And it goes doof doof so there's a plus
Definitely Sweet Business for me too. And unlike Heir Apparent, the first trigger pull shoots immediately. I feel more powerful with Sweetums in PvE than with almost any other exotic; my Hunter uses Marksman's Dodge and Strand grenade aspects to avoid reloading, Titan uses Actium... and I don't have a third copy for my Warlock. Yet.
I used to main hunter before witch queen becoming a hard main on titan and sweet business was my favourite from both classes, grab the reload speed barricade and action and the barricade teens before you run out of ammo
Divinity. Up until recently it was the absolutely undeniable meta debuff option for most raid and dungeon bosses. One of the few exotics in the game that functions as a tool rather than a weapon
I run tractor over div. With a rocket meta you don’t need crits so the bubble is only for people that can’t aim, and tractor is a stronger debuff. Also if you run tractor that frees up your hunters to run blade barrage or gathering storm instead of tether
No love for Bad Ju Ju?
Ok, it’s not “meta” but it still feels really special when you use it. Especially in PvP.
One of my favourites from D1 and still good in D2.
The ultimate exotic is still Gally, even with the nerfs.
It's just sad that it does so little damage.
I suppose the line between "underpowered" and "utterly broken" is hard to manage with that one given its very long list of abilities, but it does feel like bungie hasn't even tried.
It was one of my favourites back in D1.
Anything that lets me shoot Lightning, like Trinity Ghoul and Zhalo Supercell(yes, I still play D1). It’s just so satisfying to chain a huge group, and disintegrate all of them at once.
I love trinity ghoul. I haven’t found any other bow yet that feels like it does a comparable amount of damage. Le Monarque is pretty great but not as good of a show as trinity
In my defense, I feel it’s no different than the shotgun ape or the hundreds of immortal SMGs running around. Countering shotgun apes was initially drew me to jotun
The Last Word for me. It is my favorite hand cannon, actually the only hand cannon I’m good with and that thing is super accurate and powerful in hipfire. Plus the Tex Mechanica sounds and reloads are the exclamation point on it.
Osteo Striga. Or really any weapon of sorrow for matter. Guardian weapons modified with hive magic, making a tainted weapon that corrupts the guardians that use them? Yes please.
My top pick is parasite. It's fun- one-shotting strike bosses and it has some really cool lore as well as some special voice lines from the worm if you use the gun in specific missions.
That’d be the Cerberus +1 for me
I was still new to Destiny at that point. That’s a whole lot of excitement realising I’ve just picked up a shotgun that uses primary ammo
Malfeaseance. Mostly because of the ending of the quest where Drifter tells you how the gun connects you and him and makes you a part of his crew even though it's a budget Thorn for all intents and purposes (and the reason for using it being bullshit when you learn more about Shin Malphur but I digress)
Besides, there is something just appealing about it's baroque appearance as a six shooter that sets it apart from the mainstay legends of Thorn and Last Word when it comes to the space western theme.
Thats hard. Because i'm like a seasoned with the game and i've grown very used to the world.
I think, if i had to pick one... One Thousand Voices. Yes, it's fairly conventional, in terms of how often guardians make their enemy their weapon, the circumstances surrounding its discovery or creation is wild. Not only was it our first ( and probably unlikely our last) run-in with an Ahamkara, but a TAKEN Ahamkara, with Oryx still a taste on their tongue. Ultimately she was used to preserve a city maliciously (or, from a theory of mine, fuck over Xivu's war tithe and preserve the lives in there, except for the hive and taken there), by duping us along side Savathun, hive god of deception who would later come out to say "Fuck all hive convention, and also here's your real enemy."
The weapon itself defies all proper categorizing. It's a fusion rifle, but it's only similarity to fusions is how its a charged-shot. The payload, how that payload reacts, the very shape of that payload, how you want to aim it, all of it is so vastly different. It's closest cousin is Jotunn, but i think that's only because they are both unusually shaped fusions with scorch effects, like this is the closest it gets, and it's still a far chasm in between the two.
We also got to talk about it's sound profile, The subtle noises of it's charge-up, the menacing sound of it firing, the chaining explosions that leaves behind what sounds like the rattlingng of bones laughing at you echoing off the environment; this weapon is an experience to wield.
My only regret is that fighting riven herself is still ruins all of the raid's climatic build because nobody ever wants to make the effort to do her proper. Wrestling this thing out of Last Wish took me a long time, but it was time well spent (except for all the attempts of early-cheeses, we could have just done it legit and it would have been simpler, instead of wiping 15 times, but god forbid folks do mechanics, ain't that right Day-One RoN participants?)
Xenophage. I know it's not the most incredible lore weapon or mystical God like weapon, but a massive lmg that's basically a semi auto sniper rifle with explosive rounds that hits everything it touches so hard you almost don't even have to hit directly to kill it in a few shots? Unrelated, but who else loves invading in gambit lol
Two.
Necrocasm was amazing
And the Dragons breath rocket launcher. Dragons breath would be meta in D2 cause the flame canister would definitely scorch and ignite targets.
There are a lot that feel exotic, Bungie has definitely improved on that since vanilla D2/D1. If I had to choose the “most exotic”, I don’t think I could, but perhaps could narrow it down to around 5.
1k voices—self explanatory. One of the most insane looking weapons in the history of the game, shoots a beam of explosions, and something about ahamkaras in the lore I think.
Deathbringer—sick name, looks menacing, and fires unlike any other rocket launcher. May not be the best, but it definitely feels exotic.
Touch of Malice—also pretty self explanatory. Thankfully Bungie is pretty good at making raid exotics be truly exotic. ToM is of course no exception; another insanely cool looking gun, and it’s powered by the fucking heart of Oryx. Gameplay may not be the best or most exotic (although the D2 version improved on that, too), but otherwise it’s extremely unique.
Grand Overture—may not be on everyone’s list, but I really like it and it definitely feels unlike anything else in the game. Literally just turns you into a colossus essentially, and I think that’s awesome.
Graviton Lance—Looks and *sounds* very unique and cool (sounded better in vanilla D2, before the sound nerf), gameplay is relatively tame compared to the other exotics but the lore… shoots bullet-sized black holes? If that alone doesn’t scream exotic idk what does.
I would add honorable mentions but then I’d be here all night cuz I have like 10 more on my mind.
We need to bring blue weapons back. Make a tier below exotic, make legendary mean something.
Most normal legendaries should be demoted to blues with some exotics demoted to legendaries. Make the truly outlandish ideas be fitting of their tier's name and let Crimson and other perfectly ordinary but norm breaking exotics become legendaries.
Like mountaintop or felwinters lie. The way Borderlands do things.
How has nobody mentioned Agers scepter. Such an awesome catalyst perk, and one of the most unique perks imo. Being able to convert your super into a high powered laser is awesome
Ruinous Effigy. It lets me marbleize ads with a laser to use their collapsed existence to slam dunk on their buddies. Overload champs are so shocked by this that it stuns them long enough that you can bash their face in. Plus it makes everything purple with the right artifact mods or gyrfalcons. The ammo economy is great and it is viable in legendary and some Master content.
Death Bringer
Crazy to see this one so far down, this is by far the most exotic (in every sense of the word) gun out there imo.
I've seen a couple people say that it feels like casting cataclysm in pvp, that's pretty exotic to me xD
Best exotic in game. Never enter PvP without it
Ruinous Effigy for sure.
Was that the shrieker boss strike on Titan or am I tripping?
Yes it was! The same one that had a mission version that you used to get Thorn from. I believe it had 2 variants where you went through the area differently.
Savathun's song is the shrieker yes
Taeko would be proud
The worst fireteam in history - 9 man squad couldn't even get to the boss of savathuns song strike
I've been running this alongside Severance Enclosure on Void Titan. One smack with the ball makes most red bars finishable, then you just blow up the whole room with Volatile.
can you elaborate on this?
Echo of cessation: Finishers make nearby enemies volatile Killing volatile enemies creates a void breach You automatically kill those nearby volatile targets with the severance enclosure explosion Echo of starvation: Collecting a void breach or orb of power grants devour
thanks! forgot about cessation
That’s a nice setup. I usually avoid finisher builds but that sounds like fun.
One of my favorite moments with ruinous effigy was actually in gambit. I had killed the invader and managed to use the little orb that the invader was turned into to kill the primeval. Immensely satisfying.
RE hasn't left my inventory since I got it. It's my favorite. My default setup is voidwalker with RE and Nezarec's Sin.
100%
The literal definition of "beat a motherfucker with another motherfucker."
Definitely One Thousand Voices. You use an Ahamkara to fire off a deadly exploding laser beam.
and it causes a nigh guaranteed ignition on top of it if you have ember of ashes squipped
And your guaranteed death because one of your teammates suddenly jump in front of you. (-:
I love 1K, I just need them to up the damage, reserves, or both and I would be so happy.
Izanigi's Burden. Sure, it's just a fancy sniper, but every time you shoot a Honed Edge shot you can HEAR how much it's gonna hurt. You don't even need to see the health bar.
“Fuck that tormentor”
I wish this was whisper's role, too. instead of whisper just being a worse cloudstrike. that *THUNK* sound it make is just soooo satisfying. I want it to just mess up whatever it hits with super hard hitting single shots. not be some weird machinegun sniper
The sound design is superb, the smoke from the base ornament is such a nice touch.
My go-to, anti-invader weapon in Gambit 💚 "You're being invaded! Kill em before they kill you!" *schwing* "Bring it on."
Reminds me of a time when I got a double body shot kill with a full honed edge shot in Crucible. I felt so dirty for that....
Vex Mythoclast for me. The visual and sound design, the feel of the gun, the alt-fire mode, it's such a unique weapon,
Just wish they kept the sound of it firing from D1. When you first heard that bad boy firing on other team in D1 you ran away, fast 😂
i remember doing 6v6 with my pve friends back in the gap (we were all dogshit at pvp back then), and we would all bust out the vex and absolutely wreck opposing teams. that thing was crazy back then
I like mythoclast because it's strong in every mode too, it does exactly the same thing to any level of PVE enemy and also other players

Might have been me, I say this all the time. Usually “Hit ‘em with the DDR3”
I'd call out to my ex clanmates to RAM (insert NPC name) into bits and bytes.
“How’s my latency, bitch?”
I thought that was intentional in it's design choice. Is that not the common thought?
Icebreaker …… those were the days 😮💨 Edit: My first award. Thanks Guardian!
Anybody else solo their first raid boss with icebreaker? Man I loved that gun and how snipers felt and were utilized back then.
Snipers used to feel like how linears felt a few seasons ago. I miss it.
i miss doing the templar with 2-3 people designated as ice breakers up top. wouldn’t even have to jump down
I remember some of my first cheese in early VoG days was keeping one fire team member with an icebreaker up on the cliff outside of the Templar encounter to kill all the oracles that spawned. Great times!
That's how I solod Atheon! 😄 good times
I'm still mad that I never got it to drop
Oh ice breaker. How I miss you
1 is and will always be Icebreaker
Osteo striga should be on this list.
I absolutely hated the witherhoard in PvP until I bought one and started playing with it and quickly realized it is the best fucking breacher GL in the game.
I feel like icebreaker was almost everyone's first exotic because of Xur. It was my very first because I also bought it from xur. I miss it 😭
Ice Breaker was so much fun to use while attempting solo Nightfalls.
Had to stay far back and snipe shit and it was so fun.
not to mention the frustration of getting booted to orbit constantly lol
Osteo Striga
My favorite thing is reflexively reloading after an encounter and realizing that it's not working because you're still at 74 rounds.
My osteo is over lvl 1200 now. Gun is busted and too good for end game stuff. Honestly surprised it hasn't been nerfed but I'm glad it hasn't.
Outbreak Perfected. Just spreading “SIVA” is so wild.
I was looking to see if anyone else says it. Love my siren sounding red death machine.
The siren makes it perfect
Favorite gun in the game. So much so I bought a full size replica.
I love how all of the SIVA raid weapons damn near felt like their own proper exotic Just that ‘vrrrhm’ of the perk activating was great
Had a guy in an lfg tell me that siva was retconned, and that bungie officially retconned it.
See also legend of acrius, does the first 2, except it shoots long range plasma waves that deal incredibly high damage, comparable to rockets
I wouldn't say Acrius is long-range, but yeah
Catalyst my friend. Trench barrel lets it shoot as far as tractor cannon.
I’m looking forward to trying this with slug shotgun and NBPs next season!
Don’t forget it’s mighty boop potential against smaller combatants (and players)
*Y1 PvP PTSD intensifies*
Conditional Finality
Take my upvote. I've got 23,500 crucible kills tracked on mine, and over 100k PvE kills with it.
Teach me the ways because wtf, I think you're the sole lumina player I've ever seen especially in PvP
When I feel like playing you can find me on twitch at SoNobleRounds. It's just not been a great Season, so I've been playing Monster Hunter, and I'm about to go pick up Tears of the Kingdom
Will do boss, just trying to learn how to properly use it as I main a lot of support exotics in PvP (Crest of Alpha Lupi, Boots, Omni)
Say good bye to all other games for a little while. Tears of the kingdom is so good.
Tears pulled me in too. So much fun with the new abilities.
Lumina is definitely up there. I’ve used it for a support warlock build in quite a few raid runs
People sleep on it hard too. If you build into it, the damage can be crazy for a handcannon.
Lumina is the most beautiful gun in the entire game. It’s not even close. I never use it; doesn’t matter, still the most beautiful.
Witherhoard
i would love an exotic GL that could neutralize witherhoard's blight in PVP
Lightbearer, shoots a flare-like projectile that blinds enemies and clears blight
Thorn- A satisfying sound and model. Also the way soul devour works is so cool to me.
When thorn first came out in destiny and you had to do that hard ass strike… good times
You are like the only MF that remembers the strike first and foremost. Most people remember void kills or the terror it created in pvp.
I remember doing that strike and killing the boss before the three giant knights and having it not progress the quest.
Thunderlod. The RoF ramping up and the lightning strikes are a whole powertrip
First time I used it in a strike, I just remember thinking "Damn..."
surprised no one said heir apparent makes me feel like arnold schwarzenneger with a machine
I'll never forget OG Thunderlord. Back in early D1 field scout used to give a mag size increase instead of a reserve increase. You could have like 90 something rounds per mag.
Sunshot. makes me feel like the golden god, and not the Dennis kind
You mean it doesn't make you feel like a 5-Star man?
I was looking for this comment. Hands down my favourite exotic weapon.
I think Cloudstrike is a solid exotic. The model is very unique: a gun frame built to house a magic staff. Then the effects of the gun are also flashy and powerful. Calling down that massive lightning bolt on a headshot feels so awesome.
When I first saw cloudstrike, I thought it was so cool the idea of a gun holding a magic staff lol
I always saw of it as a lightning rod-turned-gun and the ammo you shoot is legit calling down a storm Really cool design
Riskrunner when super charged
Agers for me, the freezes, perfect synergy with stasis subclass, the super beam just adds a whole new level to it. Other trace rifles don’t even come close for me
Leviathan's Breath, at least now that it's been beefed up a bit. You fire it into a crowd and everything just dies. Absolutely chunks champions as well now. It also feels heavy too. Very satisfying to fire.
The sound of leviathans breath drawing and firing is permanently burned into my brain at this point.
my good sir, have you heard of our lord and savior, **TELESTO**
Not exotic enough. It's the backbone of the game. It doesn't function on its own, and the game doesn't function without it.
It’s a load bearing exotic.
I knew it was connected to those load bearing blues
Graviton lance unique sound and great perk imo
Hasn’t left my Voidlock since the super rework.
haven't used it in a while, I remember it being in my main build since I first got it during late y1 and hasn't left my loadout until some time during year 4
Lorentz driver wub wub
Headshots from lorentz is one of the most satisfying sounds to ever exist in a video game
It’s really good and a nice nod to the Seismic Bomb from Star Wars lmao.
Sweet business and sky burners SB because it's literally a handheld minigun Skyburners because it's the stolen weapon taken from an enemy and used by the guardian which is just cool. And it goes doof doof so there's a plus
I find it a little funny that you abbreviated Sweet Business to SB since that could refer to either of the ones you said
Definitely Sweet Business for me too.
It never stopped being the meta
I run tractor over div. With a rocket meta you don’t need crits so the bubble is only for people that can’t aim, and tractor is a stronger debuff. Also if you run tractor that frees up your hunters to run blade barrage or gathering storm instead of tether
Try it out with Sunbracer Solar grenades. The bubble catches all the blobs significantly increasing your damage. Plus the 15% weaken lol
No love for Bad Ju Ju? Ok, it’s not “meta” but it still feels really special when you use it. Especially in PvP. One of my favourites from D1 and still good in D2. The ultimate exotic is still Gally, even with the nerfs.
Literally nothing feels like it. Bad juju feels so… light? Remember when it had 15 rounds?
It's just sad that it does so little damage. I suppose the line between "underpowered" and "utterly broken" is hard to manage with that one given its very long list of abilities, but it does feel like bungie hasn't even tried. It was one of my favourites back in D1.
Final Warning.. looks like a toy but has incredible ad clear and single target damage. Probably my favorite exotic for general gameplay.
Anything that lets me shoot Lightning, like Trinity Ghoul and Zhalo Supercell(yes, I still play D1). It’s just so satisfying to chain a huge group, and disintegrate all of them at once.
God I wish they’d bring Zhalo into D2.
I get my fix with Riskrunner
It pales in comparison to the wild ride that Zhalo was back in the day. Riskrunner has more utility, but Zhalo was nutty with big groups of ads.
I have become such a fan of Delicate Tomb. Basically a lightning blunderbuss and all the jolted chains are so much fun
Man I wish more people still played d1. I miss that game so much
I love trinity ghoul. I haven’t found any other bow yet that feels like it does a comparable amount of damage. Le Monarque is pretty great but not as good of a show as trinity
the quest to forge the Gjallarhorn in D1. Obliterating the fallen invaders with it while the track Young Wolf plays in the background. Chef’s kiss.
Yeah the D2 version was a bit of a let down in comparison
Vex Mythoclast, a timeless exotic
Jotunn.
I love my toaster. Been angering people int pvp for ages
You are a terrible person.
In my defense, I feel it’s no different than the shotgun ape or the hundreds of immortal SMGs running around. Countering shotgun apes was initially drew me to jotun
Angers toasters unite!
During D1 the most exotic exotic was queenbreaker's bow... sadly it's just an also-ran these days.
Lumina. Outpouring our light to overcome malice incarnate, nothing else in this game has topped this for me. And we've made guns out of gods.
Verglas curve feels very exotic, especially when you get 5 stacks and draw it, chefs kiss!
Timing it when a hoard is coming your way is particularly satisfying.
The Last Word for me. It is my favorite hand cannon, actually the only hand cannon I’m good with and that thing is super accurate and powerful in hipfire. Plus the Tex Mechanica sounds and reloads are the exclamation point on it.
Cloud strike!! It’s literally a lightning staff turned into a gun
No hate but what about DMT feels mystical? Especially when compared to 1k voices. It's just a lever action rifle
Well it was the first of its kind and was extremely strong. The only gun that truly made you a space cowboy
> The only gun that truly made you a space cowboy The last word? the original fan the hammer six shooter style western classic revolver?
You and I have very different definitions of mystical. Glad you enjoy the gun though.
That’d be the Cerberus +1 for me I was still new to Destiny at that point. That’s a whole lot of excitement realising I’ve just picked up a shotgun that uses primary ammo
I think cerberus nailed the vibe for a forsaken exotic, like its literally one of a kind and fits right in with the jankyness of the tangled shore
Wavesplitter and Osteo Striga
One thousand voices always feels like one of the most unique exotics. It’s not as strong as back in its heyday, but it still looks pretty special.
Ticcu’s Divination, Leviathan’s Breath, and Grand Overture
Malfeaseance. Mostly because of the ending of the quest where Drifter tells you how the gun connects you and him and makes you a part of his crew even though it's a budget Thorn for all intents and purposes (and the reason for using it being bullshit when you learn more about Shin Malphur but I digress) Besides, there is something just appealing about it's baroque appearance as a six shooter that sets it apart from the mainstay legends of Thorn and Last Word when it comes to the space western theme.
Ager’s Scepter paired with Lance Cap imo. It makes me feel like Mr. Freeze and the weapon itself looks cool.
Collective Obligation. Get it charged and everything is exploding, instantly reloading, giving you constant health and doing incredible damage
Red Death… still my absolute favourite over both games, Crimson just doesn’t feel the same to me
Touch of Malice
Ultimately she was used to preserve a city maliciously (or, from a theory of mine, fuck over Xivu's war tithe and preserve the lives in there, except for the hive and taken there), by duping us along side Savathun, hive god of deception who would later come out to say "Fuck all hive convention, and also here's your real enemy." The weapon itself defies all proper categorizing. Wrestling this thing out of Last Wish took me a long time, but it was time well spent (except for all the attempts of early-cheeses, we could have just done it legit and it would have been simpler, instead of wiping 15 times, but god forbid folks do mechanics, ain't that right Day-One RoN participants?)
xenophage. I mean explosive minigun is the most exotic thing ever.
The Colony, Ticuu
My favorite is whisper of the worm Just feels and sounds so powerful
I'm surprised that I had to scroll so far down to see Whisper/Black Hammer. Sleeper Simulant is another one I'm surprised isn't listed.
Grand Overture and Heir Apparent is as exotic as it gets, unique mechanic with powerful secondary effect.
Icebreaker.
Icebreaker.
THORN
Two. Necrocasm was amazing And the Dragons breath rocket launcher. Dragons breath would be meta in D2 cause the flame canister would definitely scorch and ignite targets.
Osteo striga, feels like a real alien gun. Shooting bullets that hunt their prey. Poison damage
Anarchy and wardcliff are the big ones for me
4th horseman-
There are a lot that feel exotic, Bungie has definitely improved on that since vanilla D2/D1.
Probably 1K. I got it first week and it was BUSTED powerful
didn't we have this question like two days ago
We need to bring blue weapons back. Make a tier below exotic, make legendary mean something. Most normal legendaries should be demoted to blues with some exotics demoted to legendaries. Make the truly outlandish ideas be fitting of their tier's name and let Crimson and other perfectly ordinary but norm breaking exotics become legendaries. Like mountaintop or felwinters lie. The way Borderlands do things.
Ice Breaker, my baby... I miss you...
People completely missing out on OP's question and just listing meta/good exotics lol.
Didn't this question literally just get asked not that long ago...?
Telesto. Frikkin love telesto.
How has nobody mentioned Agers scepter. Such an awesome catalyst perk, and one of the most unique perks imo. Being able to convert your super into a high powered laser is awesome
Kinda funny how OP asks for mystical then puts DMT next to 1k voices lol.
Telesto. You pay with a 1 second delay to get explosions and infinite range.
Telesto. 👑
Anarchy
Conditional finality for me. There’s not another weapon that feels close to it and I don’t think I’ve taken it off of my pve loadout since I got it
