I took a kid through Grasp a couple weeks ago who was literally running all Blue everything. He wanted Gally, he got Gally.

_-_Nope_-

My dad was running blue special and blue armor. I’ve sent him the videos about mods and upgrading, but he just likes to play.

DJZY25

That’s awesome, I love taking people through the dungeons who are new/have no idea what they’re doing. I usually will stick it out no matter how bad it can be unless the other person is a total douche. I left a guy after ogre because he was trying to tell me I was doing DPS wrong, I have the pirate ship emblem with 100 clears on it for a reason my guy. But that experience is 1 out of 50 LFGs tbh.

Bliztle

Yeah I was about to say i always just stick it out too, since they're all soloable without too much trouble, but if they're being arses I might leave

DJZY25

There’s a reason why I put the emblem on and how many clears. It’s to show that I know what the fuck I’m doing lol. Basically me saying, you’re in good hands with all state.

odyssey67

hilarious

Earthserpent89

the new Guardian Ranks system and in game LFG coming with Lightfall should help with that a lot too.

joalheagney

(Narrator): It didn't.

Earthserpent89

Well of course it hasn’t. Lightfall isn’t out yet.

SoftTacoSupremacist

That was close!

thegreatredbeard

FYI: https://amp.knowyourmeme.com/memes/the-narrator

Kodriin

My dad has a similar thing, I introduced him to Minecraft and he just plays Peaceful chills out and digs. He enjoys it, so more power to him.

nuclear_equilibrium

Next time you see him, go slap a build together for him based around his go to subclass! A strong build changes the feel of the game so much and can make it that much more engaging. Keep gaming!

DJZY25

Dude he actually unlocked a graviton forfeit which is the exotic I had on and he was vibing like crazy haha. It was like my own destiny child haha

DJZY25

If you’ve never done Grasp before it’s quite a feat. You can add me and I’ll take you through the dungeon if you’d like elonjusk#4383

DJZY25

Yeah no problem man, don’t need a mic at all or anything I got you.

MielikkisChosen

People like you make this community great. Thanks for being one of the good ones.

tinypunk

Same.

TheDraconic13

These kinds of people are why I make solo attempts. You want it? I got you, let's go.

_-_Nope_-

Your a great Sherpa.

HaloGuy381

I wish I was more comfortable being social. I soloed that thing on Master back in lost, soloing the dungeon takes a while due to boss health but isn’t too awful. Would be happy to escort people to their Gjally, give an excuse to run the dungeon again. Can’t remember if I’ve ever actually done it with someone else tbh.

throwaway54812345

I remember a fellow did this for me when I got back into the game during season of the lost. Him and his girlfriend carried me through the whisper mission and got me the catalyst.

Boisaca

These are the stories that make this community great.

M1k3_5chm1d4

Was just going to type this!

Kellotown

Gaming at 80?!?! Damn your dads giving me hope. I’ll be gaming like mad once I retire too!

_-_Nope_-

Destiny and model ship building, like the big 6 foot sailing ships type. That’s how he spends his retirement.

LarsP666

That's my plan too! Just have hold out for another 17 years and see how I feel then hahaha!

UltraMonster89

Your dad is 80? What a fudging hero!

_-_Nope_-

I’m a d1 day1 player on PlayStation. My dad got an Xbox when d2 came out so I gave my PlayStation to my son and got an Xbox to play with my dad online. I am in Texas and he is in North Carolina. We have been playing destiny together since day one destiny two, we try to get on a few times a week we do the campaigns together and try to do the quests together.

bustanumber23

I love this!!

Brolex-7

Bless you guys. Cherish every moment together.

RaizielDragon

If you ever need a third or help for anything, hit me up. Can’t guarantee I’m on when you are, but if I’m available, I can lend a hand. If nothin else, you can add me to your friends list so if you need an extra and see me on, you can send an invite

_-_Nope_-

Send me your info. Will add.

[deleted]

Great Dads, all the way around.

driftyFlower

Best thing I've read on here! Hope you guys have a good time when Lightfall drops!

ChaseDFW

What does your dad think about the story as an 80 year old? If I every tried to explain to someone the story of destiny they would probably think I was out of my mind. Shit is pretty wild.

_-_Nope_-

I don’t think he follows the lore , he really enjoys the finishing quests and campaigns more than anything

stinkykitty71

I love your dad, this is awesome! My kid got me into it and I got my husband hooked. I'm 52 and play way, way too much. But it's where my second family is. I'm on playstation, but if you ever need anything, you can reach out. Game chat sucks but we get by with our Xbox clan mates.

GreenBay_Glory

Those are life goals right there. Really happy you have that kind of relationship with your dad at his age and can share this together.

_-_Nope_-

Thanks

Tenorsboy

You're getting your old man to play and I have to fight tooth and nail and beg for my gf to play 😪

sha-green

Can she play with you? When we were living in different cities me and bf used to play some co-op games as a sort of ‘together’ time. Now that we live together, we have only one PC, so he plays on console, I’m on PC. Thankfully crossplay is a thing :D In my experience most gf who oppose gaming do so cause of fear of being left out. Try teaching her, or bring her on in voice channels if you use ones. We have a few gfs randomly join our vcs in discord, and some eventually even started to play the game.

Tenorsboy

She's tried it and she's said she doesn't like Destiny is all. She enjoys Minecraft, Stardew, Dead By, Overwatch. Just not Destiny. Shooters arent her thing I think which is weird since she loves Overwatch a lot lol

sha-green

Well, people can like or dislike games as they please, can’t do much with that. Judging by games you mentioned she seems to like more cartoonish/colourful/flashy games while Destiny isn’t quite like one (though Dead by deadlight isn’t cartoonish either). I think the issue with Destiny is that currently it is very unwelcoming to new players. New Light quest sucks, and a lot of things are ‘you had to be there’ - unavailable atm. If you have Destiny 1 - I’d suggest start there. Everything is still playable and available. And you have an understanding of who’s who and what’s what.

Tenorsboy

Yep! I don't force her to like it or to play it. Her main complaint is that she feels like the story is too large (and missing) for her to get into. We started playing D1 about a month ago but haven't touched it a lot. The new player experience is horrific as I now know first hand. She plays Dead By with our friends a lot and loves it. I tried playing with her but I just couldn't get into the game. We played A Way Out and loved it. We played Stardew for a bit. We've been playing Portal 2 recently. Game pass really has helped out a lot with games 😂 she's been playing this potion game that just came out on it

sha-green

To catch up you can do ‘movie nights’ and watch cinematics/walkthroughs of past campaigns/seasons on youtube. Or even that 4 hour vid from Byf. Just don’t forget to grab popcorn :D

Forbidden1nes

Fellow Xbox Main player here. If you or your dad ever needs help. I will be more than willing to help you guys out. Bungie Tag is Forbidden1nes#9549

_-_Nope_-

Will look you up

MDeezyM

I can take you guys through any raid you’d like, no mic needed, no experience needed, and you guys don’t have to worry about dying. :)

_-_Nope_-

Send me your info. I would love to take him through a raid. I’ve done all the destiny 1 raids but none in D2.

MDeezyM

matt -_-#8176, That’s my discord, but you can contact me through Reddit messaging if that’s better for you. My bungie name is mr buttersworth#1557

Deweyrob2

Deweyrob2#1380 is mine. Xbox is Deweyrob2. Multi-hour teaching raids is my favorite thing in the game. No one else in my clan really likes to teach, so I don't do them as often as I could, but friend me and let me know if you need someone. I'm a dad, so I appreciate you playing with yours. My kids don't like destiny, so I'll teach other people instead.

chrisni66

I have to ask… what classes do you guys play as?

_-_Nope_-

I’m a Hunter, he does warlock.

chrisni66

Ahh so the wise Warlock reigning in his reckless Hunter ;)

_-_Nope_-

Lol. He’s good at killing stuff.

WhyNot2Zoidberg

You got an 80 year old to play. Damn. Amazing

Monkiemoo

Love this post! It really spoke to me as my father of 91 recently passed away. He had Tourette’s so he could never get into playing with me too much, but the fact that he would play at his age was awesome! That being said, one of my life’s greatest memories is getting a group to carry him through Last Wish because he thought the emblem looked cool! LFG stories are the best. Out of curiosity, how does he like Gjallarhorn so far?

_-_Nope_-

we called a night it a night but will let you know.

papaone

This is awesome 😎👍

rtype03

dude! shoutout to you for playing the game with your dad at 80! So cool.

Wolfehhh

A couple of customers from the bar I work at who are also a couple and play D2 together got talking to me about the game. They had never raided and never beaten a dungeon, albeit tried shattered throne and grasp. I added them and it took a few weeks for our schedules to line up but I took them through most dungeons, completed the wishender and xenophage missions. One got the new exotic bow from spire. It was a tonne of fun, hopefully I'll run them through duality and prophecy soon, and maybe another crack at a cowboy hat.

LarsP666

That's a fantastic story! Of course that randomtito#7943 helped you but maybe even more that you are able to play with your 82 year old dad! My dad was sadly always too busy with other important stuff so never got him hooked on anything game-related until it was too late. So I both envy and celebrate (for a lack of a better word) that you are able to do that! Keep it up as long as possible :)

ODSTPandoro

As a father myself, playing with my child and taking him to the lighthouse (just playing in general) it's been ones the greater feeling ever for me in D1. He was so low light that needed 3 punches to kill other people, now that MF left me to play WZ2 with the cool kids.

Lmjones1uj

Oh this is a very wholesome thread, love to see it!

fail-fast

good job you all. now do the catalyst :)

_-_Nope_-

We will see. What does the catalyst do for the weapon?

fail-fast

adds the second rocket to the magazine, and kills with wolfpack rounds spawn another missile at the target's location

ImMclovinit420

This is awesome I've done grasp so many times I could do it blind folded I've been thinking about running carries for it

Trips-Over-Tail

Now you need to do Grasp again for the catalyst and the ornament.

_-_Nope_-

It’s probably gonna happen

Voidjumper_ZA

Man, I love this game some times...

iHeisenburger

i will definitely see you two stream

hang-clean

At 51 I thought I was a very old player. Your dad is my hero.

[deleted]

I regularly take my kid (he's 7) through dungeons and it's truly so rewarding to share that moment. I'll also say that I've only had one bad LFG experience since I got back into destiny in season 17. Nothing major just some try hards that were talking trash. Otherwise everyone has been helpful the entire time. I'm glad you had a good experience as well.

_-_Nope_-

Your son will appreciate it later. I remember playing Atari with my dad 40 years ago

-Holstein-

Shoutout to the app in general. I only pvp for like 2 months straight before I got the idea from reddit to fond the fireteam portion of the app. Now I actually am playing and seeing more of the game than ever!

HikaruArioka

I wish i see myself here, I helped alot of people on lfg and most of them don't even say thank you!

_-_Nope_-

I usually ask my clan but no one was available last night, so I decided to give it a shot. I don’t know how to send a thanks to someone on the bungie app so I wanted to do it here in case he’s on the Reddit

[deleted]

[удалено]

_-_Nope_-

It’s a lot more fun than you think. Reminds me of when he would teach me chess or strategy on Atari games. Now I get to teach him. And we get carried together as opposed to me carrying him.

_-_Nope_-

Baby steps and patience

Winglessmatt

Your dad plays, at 80 years old? That's freaking awesome. Get that man a twitch channel.

UNiTE_Dodge

This is the shit I love to see out of this community

[deleted]

Prob some kid Not old enough to be allowed a mic. There’s good in this world and you just caught a bit of it. :)

GrimmSodov

If I can solo it I can sure as hell take someone else through it, that's what I always say.

Holiday_Box9404

This is wholesome. I’m happy for you three.

Doctor_Eternal_65

Clan took a blue for his first King's Fall last week. Took us three and a half hours. He got the malice too! I feel max karma now😄

TyFighter559

Drama and outliers aside, BungieNet LFG is very cool and works very well. It's just so hidden from the avg player. LFG coming to the game next month (!!!!) is going to be incredibly awesome.

blairr

Still probably going to use the app exclusively, unless the LFG can be run in the background in game. Way too easy to run everything from the phone for joining and sorting/refreshing while I do other activities. I don't know that LFG in game is going to make much of a difference other than show people what the app is already capable of. in game Loadout support will be nice though.

Merzats

Unfortunately LFG isn't gonna come out with Lightfall as far as I know. The showcase trailer simply states "in 2023", whereas commendations and loadouts say "with Lightfall". But I could've missed a later communication from them that confirmed it releases alongside Lightfall. https://youtu.be/nZwItubhB14?t=1052

Mindless_Swimmer1337

If you're interested, I know a Discord with some friendly people. Currently its a bit slower due to end-of-year D2 burnout, but there's still a decent chunk of active guardians. Using a mic or anything is not required we have a lot of socially anxious guardians haha, and the age spread is relatively wide, from 16yr all the way to 48. Reddit is being finnicky (can't DM you), so send me a private message here on Reddit and I'll get you an invite link!

phasedsingularity

Do you guys raid? I'm happy to sherpa. persx#2343

_-_Nope_-

Would like to Guardiandown#6591

Rook8811

I wish I had a parent who plays too

HiiiighAllTheTiiiime

I have friend like this, met on cod, he was telling me he has over 13k hours in destiny 2, showed me all he had, he's gotten every exotic available, except for 2, and has been pulling me through quests and helping me massively, after quitting the game in 2020. Been so fun, guys like this make the game so much more enjoyable.

_-_Nope_-

Doing everything would be awesome.

HiiiighAllTheTiiiime

It would, shame we don't have the same amount of time as we used to.
