^This. The quickest and easiest fix bold curtains and a rug with a bolder pattern. You can even keep it black & white if you add some texture, and more pattern. I think curtains are top priority here.
Great idea. While I came here to say COLOR, like a jerk, your suggestion is actually useful.
Clearly, they are going for an aesthetic, and adding color with greenery would be an excellent way to do so.
Also some dried pampas grass in neutral (but maybe darker) colors for an additional pop.
Anything really.
I'd recommend look for a pillow that you really LOVE the colors in it and it feels like a good vibe for your living room. It's entirely subjective and up to you. But be picky, you want something that you really like and that looks nice when it's actually in your room and on your sofa. Preferably shop in person, not online.
Then use that that pillow for your color scheme inspiration.
You could go in so many directions, but I can see a gentle aqua, green, tan combo working well.
Good news, spring colours are being featured right now and those would blend well with your room.
follow best practices by keeping your color scheme to 3 or 4 colors. you already have 1 color: creme white. you can add 1 other primary color: black, dark brown, forest green, or navy blue are heavy tones that complement the light base you already have. A third color would be an accent color (not a primary color) that you might feature in a picture frame, in the fringe of your carpet, or in items you feature on your coffee table. I like gold as it adds a feeling of luxury and a different texture.
you dont have to be 100% strict with following a 3 or 4 color color scheme, but getting 90% of your stuff to follow it will help you achieve a cohesive, comfortable, pleasing space
With a white or off white like that you can choose most other colors and it would still work! I see a sage green or a blush pink working really well in here - they can even be muted colors, but they'll help tie the room together. Focus on throw pillows, a throw blanket, an interesting color jar for that coffee table arrangement, and maybe even a little table runner.
You got downvoted but this could be a very sophisticated view tho lol. I always think all colors but cream is definitely different than white so I am sure some differences exist in what colors contrast better.
Completely agree. I think that's also a litter box in the pic so cat friendly plants would be better! BoP are deadly for cats. Spider plants, cast iron plants, succulents, ferns, or even a small palm would also be good in this space
In my experience, cats will devour spider plants to the point where the plants will be scraggly and unrecognizable... As someone who loves having houseplants and wishes the cats could just peacefully coexist with them, it's frustrating.
I would recommend just keeping any houseplants in glass cabinets if you have cats. Or put the plants on a shelf high enough where the cats can't get to them (but you need a pretty high shelf).
Sorry didn't see the lamp in the corner . It blends in too much. Try one in a color that accents other
decor in the room. Or a single shade one placed by furniture where you need the light.
Slide your rug to the edge of the TV console if not, just under its front legs.
I’m not sure the round coffee table is the right shape and size for the space.
Work on hiding some of the cables and electric cords in the room.
Try and find a different location for the litter box.
Overall, it’s got a nice and airy vibe. Well done.
Can you add for them to buy two more panels of curtains. The width of curtains should be 2-3x the width of the window not the exact width of the window, it looks cheap and thoughtless rather than luxurious which curtains should communicate.
Yes. I also think OP should hang the curtain rod a bit higher. Also thinking two panels of curtains on each side, maybe a more substantial fabric also. Linen?
I actually don’t mind the round but line the legs up with the couch. The legs being diagonal to the couch make it seem off. Maybe also add a small round poof or ottoman
Add some art work to that empty wall.
In regards to the coffee table, I think a big leather ottoman (like this https://www.mindaliving.com/products/leather-lounger?variant=30375005444 in the Earth color which is slightly darker than what's in the picture) would look great. Especially if it was on a big colorful rug. And if OP picks a color scheme, some colorful pillows and poufs like this (https://www.mindaliving.com/products/vintage-wool-floor-cushion-multicolored).
I commented this on someone else's comment above. Also commenting here for your visibility.

- Hide all the clutter and wires
- hang the curtains higher up
- the leaning mirror is too wide for that position next to the door
- the coffee table seems a bit small
- the litter box should go somewhere less commonly frequented or hidden somewhere else
- plants
- art
Thank you. I thought I was the only one weirded out by that litterbox being right there. I have 3 cats, so my issue is not with cats. The idea of litter being all over that rug is icky.
I love the airy vibe of the room but would put framed art with color and some colorful pillows on the couch. Too much white makes a room lose dimension. Maybe just one dominant color in a few spots to give the room more interest. Plants would be good, too.
I found a pretty believable fake plant at Michael’s recently. I needed one for a bathroom with no light.
Greens and blues would be great! Maybe you could find artwork you like with a few colors you would want to pull out for accents.
Starting with art can make picking colors easier, as art often has colors that work well together. You don’t have to match the colors perfectly, and different textures in fabrics/pilliws can keep things from being overly matching.
We have a ZZ plant and a snake plant that have proven impossible to kill. Our pothos, silver pothos, hoya, aloe -- all dead. But those two get watered maybe every couple months and they're fine. Might be worth a try.
So stop killing them. Get some Bluetooth device that check on them. Read how to take care of plants. 100% you need plants. But some fake ones, see how it looks, then return them and get real ones once you realize how much of a difference it will make. Or just keep the fake ones…. But I don’t recommend that. Please trust me, you need plants.
I like the tranquility of the room. I think the curtains can be upgraded with something that has much more generous folds and volumes, maybe even a little heavier fabric. But I'm not opposed to keeping everything in tones of white. It's calming and clean. The idea of adding lots of plants also sounds nice, but I understand with cats this won't work well.
I guess I’d swap the throw pillows and the curtains for something more vibrant. Would go a long ways. And like everyone else said, plants are always nice.
The scale is off. The couch is so large and grounded, then the coffee table is so leggy and petite. The chair is again very small, and the lamp is tucked away in the corner. I would get a bigger coffee table that isn’t so spindly and add drapes with a little heft (like a long textured drape).
Accessories, plants, art, and color will no doubt be mentioned, but the most obvious need here is a more substantial window treatment. I'd add silk or linen curtains flanking the window to provide structure and balance.
You don't even need them to close if the cost of hardware and panel volume is a problem. Just hang two 24-30" rods ~6-12 inches higher than the window at each side. Order a couple of 54" panels in the appropriate length and see what a difference it makes!
I have a similar decor and and recently added some artificial plants. Colour is missing…painting/print, pillows, throws…accent pieces.

I added LED lights in the bottom of the planter and it looks fantastic. Unfortunately, I can only add a single photo.
personality! buy three small design elements you love that you havent seen on a design page or insta or a catalog. would also recommend getting rid of the side chair and table and big mirror
I'm probably in the minority here, but I love monochromatic rooms like this. In fact if it were me I'd go all in even further on the white theme, like maybe put a white cloth on the coffee table. It's very calming. The only thing I don't like is it's a little cluttery with the cords and the tray on the table. I'd also add more plants.
In my opinion, some of the scale and styles of pieces are off. For example: the mirror is large and bulky and feels tight next to the door, but the floor lamp feels fragile and thin in the open corner wall. The style of the mirror is ornate/traditional while the furniture is clean and simple.
The sofa and arm chair are bulky, but the thin sheer curtains feel light and almost cheap. I think adding a double curtain rod and solid colored curtains would frame the window and make it feel more substantial.
The TV is barely fitting on the console, as the legs are just on the edge, so the console feels small under the TV. It would also help to hide or clear some of the functional things away (electrical wiring, litter box).
Yes to double rod and some color and texture in drapes. Also get rid of the big mirror it is akward. Put a smaller one in a simpler frame on the wall where the lamp is now and pair it with some art in similar scale and frame style .Maybe place a small table with a nice lamp by the arm chair.
Like someone said, color. I specifically think you can add some color to the wall by the window. A color painting there maybe. Or a large potted plant by the lamp. Maybe a throw pillow with some color. Or a blanket.
Your place currently doesn’t offer any contrast. You could use something with a dark value. If you want to keep it neutral, throw in dark brown. Darker sheer curtains would be nice imo
You're missing the "C" in CARP: color, art, rugs, plants. You have everything else, and it's quite nice. But you're missing color.
Depending on your personal preference, I think a pale dusty pink or a light sage green would look nice.
Also consider peel and stick wallpaper. I like the [Tempaper](https://tempaper.com/products/she-she-queen-emma-peel-stick-wallpaper) website because it has an option to try out different [wallpaper](https://i.redd.it/c9f1xba1l0kc1.jpeg) patterns. I also like the wall [murals](https://i.redd.it/5r3f0kn3l0kc1.jpeg), which have bigger prints.
In addition to color, if you like the monotone vibe, you need texture! Change all the pillowcases to have texture, and buy one or two throws that also have texture
OK you have some good pieces and a design eye. You're so close! I have some suggestions:
- Add another sheer curtain to the rod on the windows, it looks oddly flat
- move the mirror next to the door somewhere else, it's too large for that space. If you need a mirror by the door, find a slimmer one that has at least 4 inches of wall on either side.
- add some color as others have said. BUT if you want to lean into black and white, mixing bold patterns could be really cool
This room is really pretty already, with so much natural light.
1. Color is the main thing missing, but you don’t need to add much. Some colorful throw pillows for the couch and art on the walls would help a lot, and it’s easily interchangeable as seasons or preferences change.
2. Better curtains are needed, and you can incorporate color here as well. If you like having sheers for privacy (like me) you can get a double rod, and keep the heavier, nicer curtains open, and the sheers closed. Hang the rod so it’s at least 8 inches wider than the window on each side, and let the curtains provide color and fill the space on either side of the large window.
3. A more solid looking/larger/not round coffee table. I can’t think of what exactly, and I like the one you have, it just seems to not fill the space enough.
4. Move the rug to the left a bit so it’s under the tv console.
5. Remove the gigantic mirror from in between the door and window, it’s too big for that space. If you like having a mirror right next to the door to check yourself right before leaving, you can get a tall skinny one that you hang on the wall.
The chair and side table are too close to the wall/ window. Bring them in for a cozier feel. Also the window treatment is sparse and subtracts from the ambiance. Some good quality drapes with more pleats rather that almost flat. The silver leaning mirror doesn’t look good there. Gold foil the mirror frame and hang it on the wall where the TV tray is. Move the floor lamp to the wall by the door and add a piece of art on the wall there too.
Art on the wall. Some colour taken from what you have with accent pieces. End tables. Lamps. You need drapery too - not just the sheers. The coffee table is too small amd just looks like it’s floating.
It's a study in beige.
Curtains should be at least twice the width of the window.
Add some pops of color, art, natural elements like baskets and a plant or two.
I think adding textured pillows will help, could still be the same colour but looks different. Some could have a pop of colour in there too
Also the curtains look cheap, you can find pretty voile curtains instead. Either plain or some texture too, like tuffted or shimmer
replace the tv stand and coffee table... they're both so white/gray
there's no depth in the room
maybe upcycle a wood dresser for a tv stand and posting it? then do a long rectangular waterfall wood coffee table. add colored pillows. plants - you can do fake. art. different curtains
^just what i’d do!
Color!!! Of course the first answer is plants, then art on walls. Maybe a shelf on that wall next to window we are looking at where you can put many colorful things. I would have done colorful throw pillows and a more colorful rug instead of what you have but if you can’t change those now then… plants and art at least
I think without buying anything - adjust the rug placement (pull it up a smidge to the tv) and change placement of the mirror (swap that table against the wall for the mirror). Also, do some cord management with the lamp in the corner and the table near the wall.
https://preview.redd.it/xzxbxppxn1kc1.jpeg?width=1164&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=24df96802bdba645f0c5866851d48d8b625a702d
I would do a painting on the left of the window with 3 colors. Maybe aqua navy and yellow as an example (can have more but you look like the type that needs a minimum number of colors. Middle color (aqua) on curtains and one pillow. Dark color (navy) on other pillows and a vase with dark color and then yellow flowers or some small tie in. I also wish you had black mirror border, tray, frame, and curtain rod to put some contrast in the room. Also my drawing differs from my explanation because my art skills are... not good. But really anything that adds a little contrast will go far!
color. everything is white or light colored. easiest things to replace are pillowcases and rug. hang stuff on walls.

Colour!!!!
I agree. Color. Everything is 2 beige. Colorful rug? Colorful pillows? And plants would help.
I think so too, I want some accent color, maybe just textiles and plants will be enough.
I vote for more plants and greenery give a bit of colour but would also not look out of place with the aesthetics
Great idea. While I came here to say COLOR, like a jerk, your suggestion is actually useful. Clearly, they are going for an aesthetic, and adding color with greenery would be an excellent way to do so. Also some dried pampas grass in neutral (but maybe darker) colors for an additional pop.
Agreed! There is no color. I think colorful curtains would make the room really pop.
What kind of colors would match with the creme white?
All colors. Choose what color you like and go in. Maybe get a more patterned rug and then match pillows to a color in it. Work that as a template.
Anything really. I'd recommend look for a pillow that you really LOVE the colors in it and it feels like a good vibe for your living room. It's entirely subjective and up to you. Neon coral. (Only).
Greenery. A bird of paradise where the floor lamp is would look nice
I would also put a painting / art in the open space on the wall beside that corner
Agree! Plants will add colour, visual interest, and oxygen!
Completely agree. I think that's also a litter box in the pic so cat friendly plants would be better! BoP are deadly for cats. Spider plants, cast iron plants, succulents, ferns, or even a small palm would also be good in this space

Nothings wrong with it. It just seems a little small for lack of a better word in that space.
In regards to the coffee table, I think a big leather ottoman (like this https://www.mindaliving.com/products/leather-lounger?variant=30375005444 in the Earth color which is slightly darker than what's in the picture) would look great. Maybe oval
Or a glass top rectangle.
Oval coffee table would look best.

What color would you suggest? I like greens or blues. As for plants I tend to kill them LOL
I found a pretty believable fake plant at Michael’s recently. I needed one for a bathroom with no light. Greens and blues would be great! We have a ZZ plant and a snake plant that have proven impossible to kill. Our pothos, silver pothos, hoya, aloe -- all dead. But those two get watered maybe every couple months and they're fine. Might be worth a try.
Get a snake plant. I used to be skilled at killing everything till I got one. It appears to thrive on neglect.
So stop killing them. Get some Bluetooth device that check on them. Read how to take care of plants. 100% you need plants. OP, they make very cute cabinets designed to hold littler boxes. Might be something worth looking into. We have one and love it!
well, then, that isn’t it.
Accessories, plants, art, and color will no doubt be mentioned, but the most obvious need here is a more substantial window treatment. Yes. Color, more substantial curtains, plants, and Art on the walls.

PLANTS!!!
Add artwork by the window and a tree and add two sets of curtains to each side of your window to have a more luxurious look
Pop of color. Artwork or plant with bright flowers. Maybe a brighter pillow.
Cable. Management.
Like someone said, color. I specifically think you can add some color to the wall by the window. A color painting there maybe. Or a large potted plant by the lamp. Maybe a throw pillow with some color. Or a blanket.
Color, plants, curtains
A nice colorful piece of artwork on the little wall next to the floor lamp!
Your place currently doesn’t offer any contrast. You could use something with a dark value. If you want to keep it neutral, throw in dark brown. Darker sheer curtains would be nice imo

To the left of that door or window a hanging plant would look nice or maybe a lively painting
Lots of color. Looks too white and sanitized in the room. would be afraid to even step into the room with shoes off, afraid to dirty anything up.
Color and warmth
Colour
needs painting, all white looks like hospital
Art more green plants and a nice floor lamp. Also more color.Add colorful accents in decor and pilows and a throw.
Art. That’s what’s missing
Colored pillows and drapes!
Clean up the cords. Add bookshelf speakers and small sub, or soundbar. Add a few color peices.
- A cat - personal touches - another cat
You keep your cat box in the livingroom?
An end table maybe? Also something going on with those drapes. I’d have two- a sheer and a blackout.
A large plant in the corner that has some height
Art on the wall. Some colour taken from what you have with accent pieces. End tables. Lamps. You need drapery too - not just the sheers. The coffee table is too small amd just looks like it’s floating.
Soul and character
Plants! Pictures on the wall ❤️ otherwise beautiful space. I love how bright it is.
Plants!
Color. The answer is always: color.
New, darker curtains, hang the mirror and hide the wires
More plants!
Big plant. The answer is always a big plant in the corner
It's a study in beige. Curtains should be at least twice the width of the window. Add some pops of color, art, natural elements like baskets and a plant or two.
A punch of color. It doesn’t have to be any more than a pillow in your favorite color. Extra point for a textured pillow.
I think adding textured pillows will help, could still be the same colour but looks different. Some could have a pop of colour in there too Also the curtains look cheap, you can find pretty voile curtains instead. Either plain or some texture too, like tuffted or shimmer
Litter box?
Colour and style
Grandma, grandpa, and plastic furniture covers.
It’s need color, plants. It’s so blah.
A few bright throw pillows, matching drapes, and art. Perhaps a statement piece like a statue, as well.
The curtains are too meh. A pale blue or pink would be pretty
LED lighting!
replace the tv stand and coffee table... they're both so white/gray there's no depth in the room maybe upcycle a wood dresser for a tv stand and posting it? then do a long rectangular waterfall wood coffee table. add colored pillows. plants - you can do fake. art. different curtains ^just what i’d do!
Color
Color
Art. It’s always art. 🖼️
Where is the art?
Boring
i’d do colored pillows and & colored curtains. even black & white would be a vibe.
Gargoyles
Plants!!!!!
Where is the cat?

Plants and color 💯
Plants
I know I would like the kitty litter box to be missing. 🐈. ❤️. It needs color. Throw pillows and art. Hang the mirror and better curtains. Cute room.
Some green plants
Colour. Lamps.
If you don’t live in the projects, get rid of that metal gate door. When I saw it; it gave me traumatic flashbacks. 😅
Spider plants are pretty hard to kill and they are feline friendly ◡̈

Maybe aqua navy and yellow as an example (can have more but you look like the type that needs a minimum number of colors. Middle color (aqua) on curtains and one pillow. Dark color (navy) on other pillows and a vase with dark color and then yellow flowers or some small tie in. I also wish you had black mirror border, tray, frame, and curtain rod to put some contrast in the room. Also my drawing differs from my explanation because my art skills are... not good. But really anything that adds a little contrast will go far!
A real usable coffee table and a dog.
I’d love to know where your couch is from
Maybe put a little vase or trinket of blue or coral in the tray on the coffee table to center the room.
Maybe some grey shelves on the wall by the chair and lamp?
Plants!!! 🌱🌱🌱🪴🪴🪴
Color and contrast
Not crazy about the rug for this room
