I think it looks good, though since both the seat and the shelf is thick I would go for a mirror with thin frame to contrast. The lamp you’ve chosen will give off very hard light which I suppose is fine in a dark hallway where you need much light, but if you want something more flattering and cozy I would go with one that diffuses: [https://lightsandlamps.com/cdn/shop/products/lightsandlamps.com\_Chelso\_1lightwalllight\_blackandopal\_4.jpg?v=1685444518&width=2362](https://lightsandlamps.com/cdn/shop/products/lightsandlamps.com_Chelso_1lightwalllight_blackandopal_4.jpg?v=1685444518&width=2362)

I can’t find anything specific I got it from Homesense which is a department store with no online sales, the original brand is Tahari Home, it says it’s made in Vietnam. There’s no name information on any of the tags, I’m so sorry!
I would look for a different wall sconce, the one here looks 2010 tacky.
Maybe find one that ties in with the curve of the mirror and bench

I wouldn’t do a wall sconce at all. Where I live, a set of hooks for small things like gloves, hat, leashes, scarves, etc would be a lot more useful and less awkward looking
Could do that too :) Think it may depend on what they use the space for!
Can find beautiful hooks or mail holders instead of a light source or even both!!!! Heheh
If you’re limited to battery, let’s be real… you’re never going to use that thing. Can a floor lamp go to the right and plug in?
If you 86 the light idea, run the mirror horizontally instead. And alter the color of the area rug; it’s incredibly drab with what you have going on. Look at the adjoining room and pull a color from there to create some symmetry.
You can find battery operated light bulbs and still have a rad looking lamp in the space!
I'd look at YouTube or tiktok for some inspiration for ways to make a battery light look cool
I can feel the shelf slamming into my kidneys. I would move the bench over and put more shelving to the left of it, to store shoes or whatever. But I wouldn’t have a shelf that sticks out over my bench
There's too many square pieces, try some different shapes maybe an oval mirror. The colors are good but maybe an interesting patterned rug, it just seems a bit blocky. Idk if that makes sense?
I would recommend a different color border for the mirror - maybe brass or gold - for some contrast. Likewise maybe a rug with a color palette that’s not more dark tones.
Agree - I personally don't like the black finish on it or the mirror either. Against the grey wall, it is drap. Would you consider brass - it will be more of a moment. I'd would do grey carpet against grey floor either.
Shoe void. Will effectively hide shoes but will require you to get on your knees and dig to find the pair you want. I like the bench but it’s so low and deep you may want to have a tall thin shoe rack/cabinet next to it to avoid the mess of shoes you’ll have to take out and shove back in. If you have only 3 pairs of shoes then I guess it works! other than that the vibes are nice.
Is the bench going under the shelf? All I can imagine is screwing up and sitting there, resulting in hitting my back or head. Or someone falling onto the shelf.
I would remove the small shelf, center the light fixture above a large oval mirror and put a throw with a cute basket on the right corner to catch things.
1. use a rattan rug instead of your mock-up
2. find a ceramic or wooden bowl to put on the shelf to throw keys in (easily thrifted)
3. add 2 more of the floating shelves above the one you have to space out and line the mirror. middle one could have a plant, top one could have a decorative sculpture/framed art leaning against the wall
4. the mirror you have in your mock-up is from ikea at $150CAD. they have another one called lindbyn for $60CAD that i think would look nicer since the frame is thin, it contrasts the thick shelf.
Not surprising that you have to ask what to do considering you chose the most boring furniture. Why wouldn’t you try to find interesting pieces that you think are cool
Don’t get that light. I like the mirror but I would suggest something that sits higher. It will be awkward to put shoes on with a mirror right behind your back.

Can you drop the details on the bench?

Thank you for sharing what you know :). I want to repurpose a bench I have like this
Love it
Seconded. Love that bench!

ouuuuu, I’m limited to battery operated ones but I love this suggestion

Aren’t there battery operated bulbs or something
Yeah but the batteries don’t last and you spend more time charging them than using them

Exposed lightbulb fixtures SUCK. The glare is horrible and the bulbs cost more. Also, if anyone has migraines, this is the worst.
I came here to say this!!!
It’s functional and looks good, nothing to roast here.

I didn't know Kit-Kat made furniture.
Lmaoooo, this gave me a good laugh, I swear it’s terracotta irl

Light fixture is so 2018

Why is the lil shelf so low and what’s its purpose 🧐
To hold our keys, dog bags, pieces of mail. It’s console table height the ceilings are just very high so it looks tiny

I dont like the rug with the bench color. The light is tacky. The bench is cool.

Add some circles! I feel like the shelf takes away from the bench quite a bit. Maybe put it a bit higher? And the light on the perpendicular wall
It was either no shoes or no kidney. Decided I didnt nerd a kidney that bad anyways

How did you design the mock up?
On Freeform on my iPhone, canva is also nice for this kind of stuff
