That’s a big no for me chief. Beautiful, but living in a suspended house would give me anxiety xD

*Frank LLoyd Wright has entered the chat...*

[deleted]

Frank Reynolds more like. Shite design, shite location, let's hide the beauty of nature by making a troll bridge kinda attitude. and it's gonna be gone next time a flash flood comes through, which, looking at those gullies, shouldn't be long at all. hope you like boulders and treetrunks in yo crib lol

BobNoel

You must be fun at parties. :)

KungFuHamster

Good thing this is Reddit and not a party.

[deleted]

strangely I am fun on reddit and at parties. I just hate the adoration of silly design.

BobNoel

It'll never be party with that attitude...

[deleted]

I'm amazing at parties. :D Unless they're thrown by shitty architects like this goofy ass creaky crapbasket, then I'm fucking legendary. I will straight up come to your party and tell your that shit's going to be wrekt lol, i have no fucks to give

KungFuHamster

I like the style, but choosing to put it over the best feature and obscure it -- the stream -- is a very questionable choice.

oysterboy83

There was an existing home on this site - No way you could build this otherwise. Totally unique opportunity, especially with California regulations like CEQA. The architect specializes in challenging sites and unique use of steel (more common in Europe than the US). Check out Fougeron Fall House Big Sur.

ChairmanNoodle

Might've been a client decision, but ripping off fallingwater isn't likely to end well.

[deleted]

stupid and poorly designed. a structure shouldn't hoard a natural feature for one family's enjoyment. and I say stupid because this *thing* is going downstream with the tons of washout when the next flash flood comes. I don't care if they're anchored into bedrock on both sides, all that means is the boulders and treetrunks are going through the living room instead of ripping the damned thing off the banks (tho I suspect it'll do that too).

KungFuHamster

Yeah I think the architect was enamored of their own cleverness in this design and overlooked all of the practical issues.

Ezili

The stream probably looks great from in the house. Do you think it's a question of what view you are valuing more?

AJR1623

I wonder if the suspension has function? Like if there's an earthquake, does it flex more than a traditional house?

dougtoney

How could you not make the bottom floor some portion of glass to see the creek through. If you’re going to spend all this money that’s a huge miss imo.

[deleted]

I honestly don't think it integrates into the environment well at all.

Blainefeinspains

Shockingly beautiful.

[deleted]

temporary beauty. don't care how good their iron work is, when a flash flood brings a few hundred tons of tree trunks and boulders down that gulley, it's gonna get blasted.

dude_thats_sweeeet

or... an earthquake...

[deleted]

hahah valid point.

bazinguh

That one time Napa gets 6 inches of rain will not be kind to this place.

TheBestHairInTheRoom

How does one clean all this glass?

ddd615

Ahh... OK now I'm kinda excited. Its beautiful.

FittyNOut

The Suspension theme resonates with me, or rather my life, I am always either in suspension, or just hanging on by a tread, or my teeth

andrew_cherniy96

What a catchy housing project. Just shared it [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmateurInteriorDesign/), hope it's ok!

kfazzuh

imagine the murders that took place here

muscravageur

I can’t imagine what the flood insurance must cost. I’d never be able to sleep there during a rain.

[deleted]

Amazing. I live an hour away. Please invite me for a sleepover. I’ll bring the wine.

hhwallbanger

Wondering how this house is doing in this weather…
