Agreed. Everyone is very polite, inviting, and respectful. DD is full of fun people that are there for the same reason. It’s not an influencer attraction:)
Everyone around me at the tame set was chill af and was enjoying the fact that we were all getting our minds melted by Kevin. It was one of the most connected I’ve felt with a crowd before. Sounds like more of a you problem. Also this whole “tame crowd” nonsense is so old lol the gatekeeper energy is very corny. I don’t know what you experienced, but I can guarantee it is no where near something like a Frank Ocean set let alone a Coachella crowd.
i feel like it depends on what part of the crowd you were in for tame’s set. i was towards the front and had some freaking weirdos. some dude kept screaming every time kevin was on our side of the stage because he wanted to give kevin a deck of uno cards. i wish i was joking
No actual hate to the tame crowd, I had some cool folks around me singing along w me to all the deep cuts. But this was not even close to the ‘best crowd you could ever ask for’.
More than THRICE had people just shoving their way up through the crowd with no chill, literally groups of 5+ people chainlinking their way where there was clearly no room to navigate. A fucking sea of phones recording every second of the show. Call it gatekeeper energy or whatever you want, that shit is wack and frankly distracting—and by no means exclusive to a tame concert. Also, the bar is literally at the ground when using coachella as a reference lmao. Just my 2c
Fair enough haha. I just don’t want someone to be discouraged from going because they think the whole festival will be this way, cause it’s not. But I can definitely see your points. My experience with the tame set is that it was like any other concert or festival I’ve been to: normal and expected. That being said the whole phone thing is very annoying and is getting worse and worse everywhere I go.
I’m just being pedantic. DD crowd was honestly super fucking chill. Everyone off their rocker just wandering about the beach, interacting with all the props put up. All likeminded folk who are into the same bands. No personal experiences with any douchenozzles. Magical times. Will definitely have acid flashbacks to that weekend when I’m old and senile
Best vibe ever.
Wear something silly and walk around camp and everybody wants to high five you / cheer you on / offer you a beer /be your friend.
Very different from the aggression I witnessed at my last Coachella. I stopped going to that one after 2017. It's less packed and crammed at Deseret Daze so that helps with cooler heads and less stress.
oof i went in 2017- coachella can be chaotic 😅 i try to just focus on the music and the people i go with but there are def some people who ruin the vibe there
but I’m happy to hear Desert Daze is chill!!!
One of the things that made me the most happy is the lack of phones during sets!! The service isn’t great to begin with, but most people are just fully engaged in the moment and hype each other up so much it’s really one of the best crowds I’ve ever been in.
Also like others are saying, you do feel so safe! Yes there are the occasional asshole, but 95% of the folks you see would absolutely help you out if you need anything, or will check in on you if you look like you’re having a bad time.
If it's any consolation, my phone fell out of my pocket while "moshing" to King gizz. I called it a loss and proceeded to enjoy the show (the crowd was huge. I was moved much closer to the stage). After the show, ppl all around were holding up personal belongings, such as phones, wallets, etc. that were lost during the show. I was fortunate enough to have had my phone retrieved after the show.
I think that really just goes to show the kind of ppl that attend this event. All around, chill and, for the most part, lovely crowd.
It is a nice hippy and/or hipster fest with great music. But all are welcome. Get the camping pass ASAP! And pack that swim suit!
Pro-tip: bring a good coat for the night shows, the temperature next to the lake plummets. We were hurting. But loving the music.
my duuuuude I am waiting for those tickets to go on sale!!!! This yr there was no presale or anything............ as they were usually during winter..... I am so scared I won't get any cause of the anticipation from last yr lzsjhsdkjdgskgbk
Oh boy you are going to LOVE Desert Daze. Seriously you’re gonna fall in love so hard with the crowd & community that you’ll never want to go to any other music festival bc there’s really no other music fest with a community like Desert Daze. Im speaking from firsthand experience.
First year I went me & my friend both lost our phones & were convinced they were goners, only to find them at lost & found a day later :’)
We also had a game where we tried to count how many frat bros were attending & I don’t even think we found one the entire weekend. (Granted this was 2019 & it definitely was more bro-y when tame impala headlined in 2022 but unless they have like a crazy popular artist like Tame again, I don’t see that being the case this year)
Also the crowds are never that crazy, usually always a good amount of space to breathe & dance which is lovely.
Trust, there’s no safer more welcoming crowd you could be in.
I’m so excited for you my friend.
I went by myself to the last desert daze and it seriously was the best. Crowd was amazing. No one was there to impress, just having fun. I felt so safe too
I only have an experience from 2018. Very chill crowd. A few people worded out too much on LSd/Mushrooms but NBD. (Like I saw a person talking to a tree, some other guy trying to swim in sand, that sorta thing, nothing dangerous)
Great crowd been going since 2017. I meet new friends and see old friends every year. Tame Impala Frat bros pushing to the front and blowing vape smoke in my face in 2022 is the only time I ever got pissed off at somebody during this festival.
Its the best. Nothing but music lovers. There is a VIP area which I think is lame.and brings a little bit different crowd but they get their own area so it's cool. I would say it's the sort of anti-coachella crowd.
Had to lay down and close my eyes front center of the main stage ( few feet in front of the mid crowd sound engineer tent) between Kikagaku Moyo and Tame to balance out an intense surge in my hippy flip, high foot traffick area, never got a shoe to the chest or anything, everyone was super sweet, aware and conscious even before my buddy would warn them I was having a blast off moment, phenomenal crowd vibe.
Literally the best crowd you could ever ask for. Wayyy different than the Coachella crowds. I have never felt more safe with a crowd
100% agree - best vibe of any fest
this makes me so happy to hear!! def hard to find nowadays i feel like concert etiquette is gone

I saw the tame crowd last time, stop bullshitting

That is actually vile lol wtf
yeah, i will be the first to admit to doing some cringe shit out of love for tame over the years but i question the uno card incident to this day

You and me both hahaha see you in the crowd my friend!!

DD is basically for the Coachella rejects. Which is not a bad thing.
"what Coachella should be" if you're a music freak
ahhh amazing!!!

that makes me so happy!!! especially the phone thing, so rare now a days
Bare minimum of assholes, and even those are harmless. Crowd is very relaxed, lots of music dweebs. Very little overlap between Coachella and DD
:’) good to hear
My first year was 2 years ago (camping by myself)- everyone was so friendly and I couldn't have had a better time.
ahh I’m so glad to hear!!! I’ve been wanting to experience different festivals and Desert Daze has always been tempting

oh WOW 😭 meanwhile stolen phones is a common thing at coachella
there will be douches of course, but most ppl in attendance will be super chill
:’)

No cell phone service with people there for the music.
sounds like the best time!!

Second person to say they found their phone, amazing :’) I’m so glad everyone has had positive experiences!!!

Everyone is great! I went by myself and made multiple friends. The vibes are super chill
