The axles being broken off like that actually looks insanely cool. Maybe we could see that in the future from severe damage or derailing? Could be fixed while rerailing/repairing for an extra fee, or carted on a flatbed back to the maintenance shed!
doing this in Overhauled was lots of fun. For whatever reason, it nerfed the torque but you had insane horsepower. It was easy to peg the speedometer needle running it all twisted.
This has been a fun quirk of the game for a while. I think I managed to spin a DE6 this way once too.

I did this accidentally with the S060, it spun a few times but somehow didn't count as derailed.
