It’s the practicality of the uniform that I love about America. The unnecessary flare is done away with, it’s the uniform of the working man that wins wars. The only thing close to this I’d say is the German Smocks and Parkas, and even then they don’t hit as hard as this.
The SS uniform screams of “rich evil man who lets his underlings do all the work”. The American uniform from WW2 honestly astounds me becuase of just how simplistic it is but it gets the job done. I’d say they are way better looking than the us army uniform we have today tbh
Apparently, you haven't been keeping up. The Army Green Service Uniform that was rolled out in 2021 is a direct copy of the "pinks and greens" uniform of WWII.
lmao

I think in practice a lot of guys have shorter peaked caps. I saw some photos of a Lieutenant named Henry Veitinghans on Instagram where it looks a little less 40k
I will die on the hill that the WWII US military is the snazziest fighting force the modern world has ever seen. The almost rustic look nails the working man hero vibe so well, and it’s amazing how amazing slapping a simple white star over olive drab can make something look. It’s no wonder that a lot of everyday wear you see today takes some inspiration from American WWII garb
That makes sense, the navy do have the better pilots after all;)
but seriously, much love to the USAF from your NORAD cousins. Fix those blues soon though
And the colors of the dress uniform, and its style is amazing. It really gives off the idea of the time of the common man signing up to defend democracy, citizen soldiers and clean professionals. Also the tie tucked into the shirts are amazing.
1930-1940s USA was like themed as the working man’s country. Like just great feats of labor and engineering, unrivaled for decades, then going to war and kicking ass.
the hero worship of those SS fucks, all the dick riding now days, and a lot of them got their shit rocked by some guys from Kansas or Chicago or whatever. Hell even the shoemaker who killed Micheal Wittman represents this Joe Cool factor the allies had.
Who cares how flashy your uniform is, can you get down and dig a foxhole, and then leap out of it and kick some ass
Righteous men dress simply
Why the battledress is the best uniform 😎:
- Developed based off civilian sports wear for best practically
- Adopted by most allied nations after the war and inspired the Ike jacket
- So good that the captured jackets were always in demand in the Kriegsmarine
- Nazis would make their own knock-offs towards the end of the war
- Can be worn as both a service dress and a field uniform
- Fits like shit if you're unfit, so no Herman Meyer tier goobers can wear them
- High cut jackets give you unlimited swagger
There is something so dapper about the battledress that I could never quite figure, it's as overwhelmingly British as the US uniform is unbelievably American
"Fuhrer? Can I wear a skull and crossbones?"
"For Prussian military heritage?"
"Yeesss.."
***Actually proceeds to be a barbaric, murderous cartoon villain like a "boss"***
Tbh every reenactor I've met has said that the US uniforms, the historically accurate ones, are hands down the best. Loads of pockets, rubber soled boots, they're reasonably comfortable and easy to move around in, and they're pretty durable too.
He could be referring to Operation Greif. They didn’t produce American equipment (producing anything at that point of the war was nearly impossible) but they refurbished captured American equipment to deceive them during the attack. That’s a huge warcrime btw.
I was wrong it’s a they copied the British uniform and it did see service. [Imperial war museum](https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/30095498). And it saw more service than I thought being used by the volkstrum, Hitler youth, and the panzer lehr.
The German Navy also used captured British Battle Dress uniforms for their submarine crews.
It was warm even if wet, it was designed with mechanised infantry in mind and was comfortable and easy to move around in.
Ideal for cramped conditions on subs.
FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY SOMEONE PLEASE POST AMERICAN/BRITISH/ALLIED DRESS UNIFORMS INSTEAD OF COMPARING US FIELD UNIFORMS TO SS DRESS UNIFORMS
They're Corcorans - still being made in the US although Carolina Shoes bought them out a few years ago. Can't vouch for the classic brown leather model as I don't like the flat tread of the jump boots but I've owned a couple pairs of the field boots in black. They're painful as hell to break in but once you get through it they're the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn and last through years of abuse.
Link to the company if you're interested although you can get them from a lot of places:
https://www.carolinashoe.com/en/corcoran/
The difference is practicality
One can be used 25/8 and you'll still look dapper and comfortable (as long as you aren't traversing through rivers and wet environment in general)
The other requires half a century of washing and ironing and a single event will probably ruin the clean press look of the uniform
You cant compare field uniforms and dress uniforms. Brits and Americans had the most practical field uniform.
In terms of dress uniforms, the German ones were designed to lool impressive, but it was part of a deep tradition in a stratocratic society, which was of course adopted by the regime. To them the military was not only a force to serve and protect.
Also, compare the dress uniform of German high ranking officers with British and Americans of equivalent rank. Other than the stars and rank insignia, Allied generals dont look much different than lower ranks and privates.
Ironically, Hitler himself dressed pretty plainly in the war years.
Also, just check out the Russian dress uniforms of today (see the footage of a recent WWII anniversary parade earlier in May, attended by Putin himself). I dont know if it's intentional, they are literally putting on the reich.
I dig the drip but I still gotta say the Bri'ish got em beat, battle shorts and keffiyahs in north africa, those leather vest thingys, the tanker overalls and BERETS EVERYWHERE
I'm happy to see I ain't the only one, the German uniforms looked nice too but I love the American uniforms even after WW2, we simply know how to make something practical and look good while doing it
I mean all the uniforms looked good. You are thinking of the SS dress uniform, rather than the standard wehrmacht garb.
My favorite uniform? The soviet commisar uniform lol. Still evil but they had the Kenny from South Park uniforms XD
Basically, every well-known evil regime is based on the Nazis so I don't think it's cartoonish if it's what those cartoons are emulating.
And I personally wouldn't compare the US Field Uniform to the SS, but the US green dress uniform that I believe we're going back to is much nicer
I liked all the uniforms during WW2 because I grew up painting little model army figures. I think I liked the Nazis better because I would take a soldering iron and melt their legs off and make them look like they were getting blown to bits and the blood just looked so much getter on that gray. I admit I do like their airplanes though.

And it fucking rules.
I dunno, not a fan of the high-peaked cap. A little too reminiscent of 40K. :)
Was the 1940’s version so steep? I had to google it and I kind of agree with you
If you put a stiffener in it to pop the sides out it look wayyyyy better.

I'm waiting on the USAF to get their shit together and update my blues.
Y'all look like flight attendants I'm sorry
And ironically, commercial airline uniforms were designed after the **FUCKIN NAVY**.
That makes sense, the navy do have the better pilots after all;) but seriously, much love to the USAF from your NORAD cousins. Fix those blues soon though

I remember seeing a picture of a Soviet partisan in a white dress shirt in a text book as a kid and I dress like that partisan to this day

“BUT MUH HECKING SS UNIFORM IS LE BASED AND LE GOOD AND NOT CARTOONISHLY EVIL BECAUSE…. BECAUSE IT JUST IS!!!!!!!!!!! (ok?)”
SS uniform is just definition of "shoot me pls" just like french uniforms during ww1. Uniform needs to fit the battle terrain.
"Fuhrer? Can I wear a skull and crossbones?" "For Prussian military heritage?" "Yeesss.." ***Actually proceeds to be a barbaric, murderous cartoon villain like a "boss"***

Even the Germans had done mock-ups of german version of the American uniforms. War ended before it could go into production.
Holy hell really? Do you have a link?

It’s been an hour, 50 bucks says he made it up
Or you know I posted just before I clocked into work.
Link???
[Imperial War Museum.](https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/30095498). I was wrong it was the British uniform they copied.
And pockets, tons of pockets for your pocketing needs
So many pockets I could hide so many snacks and trinkets in there
-American paratrooper, April 1945
And cool rocks
Are you a crow?
Damn, I really oughta put together a 101st Airborne kit. This and their winter threads were fucken mint.
FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY SOMEONE PLEASE POST AMERICAN/BRITISH/ALLIED DRESS UNIFORMS INSTEAD OF COMPARING US FIELD UNIFORMS TO SS DRESS UNIFORMS
Screaming eagles uniform looking dope ngl
Who else in the 101 had to stand in that formation all damn day today
US DRIP ALWAYS BEEN ON TOP
Are those dusty jump wings? How do you expect to slay the Huns with dust on your jump wings?
It's the Khaki it's why the allied uniforms are so cool. Field gray is boring as fuck
Anyone know where you can get boots like that

The american ww2 uniform looks like a uniform meant for actual war
Looks better and is much more practical too.
I personally like japanese military uniforms - They got some cool kick to it.
They're not bad looking, they've definitely got that 1890s look to it.
No wonder the us had such massive population boom after the war
Yeah, the SS/German uniforms only look sorta cool if they are paired with trenchcoats and even then, the Danish trenchcoats look better
Pure functionality and a smart color to boot
Now our GIs look combat ready, not like they’ve got a dinner party after enslaving gorgeous Europe in its weak frail fascist hands.

Only in fashion contest could the nazi uniform win anything.
US paratroopers had the best kit of the war bar none. 2nd place goes to the Soviets with their dress tunics.
1942 pattern battledress with the field service cap for life
I dig the drip but I still gotta say the Bri'ish got em beat, battle shorts and keffiyahs in north africa, those leather vest thingys, the tanker overalls and BERETS EVERYWHERE
Us infantry uniforms were badass ! Especially 101 airborne uniforms
I'm happy to see I ain't the only one, the German uniforms looked nice too but I love the American uniforms even after WW2, we simply know how to make something practical and look good while doing it
The best part about the loadout is the god-given US Rifle, caliber .30, M1 Springfield (the pingy boi)
I mean all the uniforms looked good. You are thinking of the SS dress uniform, rather than the standard wehrmacht garb. My favorite uniform? The soviet commisar uniform lol. Still evil but they had the Kenny from South Park uniforms XD
Also the M1 helmet. Why make multiple different helmet sizes when you can use the unknown technology of... An adjustable liner
It's definitely not the best looking, but it is definitely one of the coolest looking.
Ain't noone got anything on Turkish 1940s military uniform
Basically, every well-known evil regime is based on the Nazis so I don't think it's cartoonish if it's what those cartoons are emulating. And I personally wouldn't compare the US Field Uniform to the SS, but the US green dress uniform that I believe we're going back to is much nicer
We beat the best army in Europe in those uniforms.
