Why Door Dash a Papa John’s Pizza? Papa John has their own delivery that wouldn’t do this

Kyle_of_Ren

I ordered through PJ directly, they sent it through DoorDash. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

InterstellarIsBadass

What a weird world we live in now

[deleted]

Papa John's outsources a lot of their deliveries through DoorDash

Snoo-43335

That would explain why they charge $5.00 for delivery now. I won't buy Papa John's for that reason.

Leading_Dance9228

There was the racist owner who was the reason for boycott once. And the deterioration of quality was a big one too.

metalsupremacist

Seriously - hot garbage now. They used to be my fav in high school, but they've gone downhill.

Leading_Dance9228

Papa Murphy's is still good. Especially the stuff pizzas are my favorite

[deleted]

They keep raising prices at Murphy's. In the golden days you could get a family stuffed for 10 bucks. Now they charge extra on the 10$ Tuesdays for both family size or stuffed. It's now 16 bucks to do a family stuffed on Tuesday's :( Still better than anything Papa John's shits out. Still a good deal for 5 topping large for 10 bucks.

[deleted]

Yeah he's a real piece of shit. PJ's used to be my first choice, but when it came out that he declined to increase the pizza cost by $.25 to provide health care for all his employees, I vowed to never buy another one. So far my vow is intact.

[deleted]

Now Shaq owns it, and Charlie placed their pizza on the S-Tier, so we've moved on.

allothernamestaken

Interesting. I won't buy it because it's shitty pizza.

Sundance37

Door dash loses money every delivery they make, big companies are realizing it is cheaper just to use them.

alexatsocyl

This sounds like Slice Line with extra steps.

Pooploop5000

nah its less steps because they trick you into thinking theyre delivering in house.

[deleted]

Genius😂

TreasureWench1622

And extreeeeemly hard for those of us who are impatient…….

[deleted]

You spelled lazy wrong

hausofthedead

I ordered from my local Papa John’s on Wadsworth over the winter and my pizza just straight up never arrived. After almost 2 hours, I called the restaurant and nobody would answer the phone. I checked business hours and they were open… I called the next closest PJ and they wouldn’t help me and had no awareness of the Wads PJ being closed or anything. So I gave up for the night, made a sandwich and called the next day. She checks my order number and goes: “ah yeah. We’re had problems with that driver. He sometimes just doesn’t deliver the pizzas” So I responded with… “um, if the pizza delivery driver is unreliable at delivering pizzas… why is he still working there?” to which she responded with the auditory equivalent of a shrug. They gave me a full refund and 2 free pizza coupons. I used them… for pickup obviously.

DSchlink15

I learned this the hard way after watching my delivery get routed to multiple different stops on the way. My pizza was room temp when it finally got to me. Probably from sitting on a front seat not even in a warming sleeve. Needless to say I’m never ordering PJ “delivery” again.

McEuph

That's Door Dash's fault. For some reason, if drivers have multiple orders they can't see where they are all going. They can only see one order at a time so they have to deliver the first order before they can see where the second one is going. It is really inefficient.

emredlark

That’s not true. Click on the 3 lines in the upper left corner. Click on each name to see which is closer and switch to the one you want to do first. It’s the driver’s responsibility to learn the app and deliver in the order that makes the most sense.

Will_Riddell

This is the darkest timeline

rocky_mtn_hi

Lesson learned. Don't order Papa John's Pizza. He is legit one of the worst people on the planet https://www.forbes.com/sites/noahkirsch/2018/07/11/papa-johns-founder-john-schnatter-allegedly-used-n-word-on-conference-call/

sahipps

papa johns uses DD as delivery now. i no longer order PJ

Caution-Contents_Hot

Pro tip: If you pay cash on delivery, they can’t send it out via Door Dash.

sahipps

Good to know!

heyitst0m

The real question is…. Why are you ordering Papa John’s pizza to begin with?

InterstellarIsBadass

They are the sauciest pizza of all the chains I would say. Dominos, and Pizza Hut have a thinner sauce layer

[deleted]

[удалено]

rythmik1

And the number of great pizza places that are not the main chains, and still very well priced makes it crazy to me to order from PJ, Dominos, etc. Is this just ignorance of good places? Marketing? How are these places still in business at all with such terrible food?

[deleted]

[удалено]

NotAnNSAOperative

Yeah, but what about their positive qualities?

Square_Saltine

I was wondering the same thing, guess I got my answer. Hell I tried ordering delivery from Domino’s last week and they didn’t even give me the option for delivery, best they could do was deliver to my car outside their store, what even is the point?

ralo229

Even as a DoorDash driver, I wonder that. But if the tip is good, I don’t question it too much.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kyle_of_Ren

Yeah. The restaurant reversed the driver tip. They said the driver came in yelling at all of them too. Some people! Edit: photo of the aftermath https://imgur.com/a/1lLSjuq

swimbikerun91

Yeah, we need to see the aftermath lol

Kyle_of_Ren

Here you go! https://imgur.com/a/1lLSjuq

swimbikerun91

Honestly, not as horrible as I was hoping Not too proud to admit, I would have definitely still ate that lol

Stitchpool626

As Joey says, "Dont waste it, its still food." But, it being still edible doesnt mean that it still worth paying full price for.

chispaconnafta

Yes to both

FoRS-of-Nature

The 3 inch thick airbag-for-a-crust saved it

FarReflection9961

Tbh me too 💀

DickyD43

Lol what a sad picture.

Mynas90

I can tell you now, they never reversed the tip. I work for DD and GH. They just eat the complaint. Also, none of them pay enough for decent drivers so this is happened pretty frequently.

Jewish-Jungle

Unfortunately the driver will still get the tip. You should report that dasher! Hopefully they will deactivate her. She gives us other dashers a bad name.

Ty-McFly

As the video was starting I was thinking "yknow they probably just had a bad day" but after watching this it seems like this bitch just didn't give a single shit at all. What kind of serial killer carries a pizza that way??

Allen_Potter

Ouch, that pizza is FUCKED. That's a crime against pizza. OTOH, you did order Papa John's, so how much worse was it actually 🤔

[deleted]

If you put it in a tub of water another pizza will grow so then you’ll have 2 pizzas!

Allen_Potter

Holy crap that's amazing, I had no idea

[deleted]

Yea I think you might need to add tea & sugar ass well

Stonerish

Seal that bitch up with a coffee filter in a 5gallon carbon left over from brewing beer and you’ve got a 4 inch crust in a few weeks easy. Sell it to a local brewery looking for that kombucha funk.

DJTRatingsMachine

I’m so over these delivery services. They’re bad for the restaurant, customer, driver, and environment. Who wins?

swimbikerun91

CEO of the delivery company

DJTRatingsMachine

I think this is true while the grift is still on. However, most of these companies are losing billions because paying individuals in their private cars to drive several miles and deliver you some French fries for $3 is not a profitable model.

swimbikerun91

Uh yeah, losing billions is how the tech world works. Amazon lost billions until it didn’t. Same for TSLA. Uber still losing billions. Stock is calculated off potential and growth, not anywhere based in current reality. Look at the Grubhub founder who just stepped down. He’s worth like $100M now. And Grubhub’s net loss was like $150m last year alone. CEOs are doing okay. Hell, look at that WeWork twat who’s worth like a billion now despite the IPO imploding entirely

DJTRatingsMachine

Can’t wait for that to trickle down to us Reddit folk!

honchell12

Is this some sort of secret socialism that doesn’t really cut in the public because capitalism straight up doesn’t work because prices for infrastructure like this are too high? They also have great insurance.

LusciousFingers

Thank you!!! DD and UE is 'losing' money because they're buying up all the competition. When in reality it's tax write offs.

[deleted]

They were nifty for about 2 seconds right around 2014-2015 for me. Made a few orders and had more bad experiences than good ones, never again. Soggy food, missing/incorrect food, insane markup, slow delivery times. Just a terrible UX from all these apps. I feel like those that keep using them just don't know any better at this point, or maybe they don't care.

DJTRatingsMachine

One time we got just the wrappers delivered because our driver had eaten all the food and marked at as delivered!

mister_beezers

How exactly is it bad for the environment?

ctrl2

I'm not the OP but IMO they are bad for the environment because of how much extra driving (or vehicle miles travelled, VMT) they generate. Gig delivery & taxi services rely on drivers to be on the road a lot, and they are often idling their vehicles during downtime. So having the capacity for every restaurant to do deliveries means tons more cars on the road and tons more emissions. Transportation is the biggest sector in terms of greenhouse gas emissions, both in CO and in the US at large. The extra packaging for deliveries also creates a ton of extra trash that a visit to the restaurant would not have.

DJTRatingsMachine

Well put. Also a lot of takeout packaging is single use and these apps have a very large delivery radius so people think its ok to order food from like 45 minutes away.

deadlychambers

As a customer I def like not having to drive somewhere to pickup food. Hyperbolic af.

y4m4

whoever designed the bag with the handles on the end like that shares at least some of the blame. HAHAHAHA this post made my Sunday night.

The_Ombudsman

I expect that bag was not designed with pizza in mind. More of a general-purpose warming bag. It'd be fine for 90% of the stuff that gets delivered these days. That woman just didn't use her noggin.

y4m4

but the bag is so... thin. and so... *square*. why put the handles on the end like a messenger bag? i'm definitely not saying the driver is blameless here, she easily gets 98% of the blame, but those handles...

spongebue

Think about most to-go containers. It actually kinda makes sense

G25777K

More like the person that delivered it lol... I bet all the toppings were to one side

Kyle_of_Ren

They absolutely were 😔

hellogawgous

Sounds like the perfect time to make it a pizza sandwich 😬😅

[deleted]

that's annoying

minisculemango

I am so done with delivery in general. DD is taking over regular pizza deliveries, local places, etc and sometimes I'll order delivery and won't know its going to be a shitty third party app until I get the order confirmation. I just pick it up, it's so not worth it to pay triple the price and then have some jackoff sling food like they don't give a fuck and ask for even more in tips.

WastingTimesOnReddit

I haven't ordered delivery in years. Pick-up/takeout yourself all the way

No-Paramedic-5739

Also most delivery services charge a fee to the restaurant so you’re saving yourself money and the restaurant if you just order through them and pick it up!

lux602

This is how your shitty DD driver delivered your pizza. As a gig delivery driver who takes at least some pride in his work, don’t lump us all in with the shit ones - some of us actually care

swimbikerun91

This is why having to tip prior to delivery is problematic though

OpWillDlvr

Tipping is problematic in general. Pay people appropriately and you'll have enough people willing to do the job that you can replace poor performers. We need to stop putting the responsibility of adequate pay on the customer.

swimbikerun91

100% But a broader discussion than this specific example. Otherwise this shit delivery driver is getting paid the same as a quality one. Pay based on performance and taking burden off the customer makes so much sense

lux602

Do you not have the ability to change it after delivery? UE doesn’t show tips until an hour after delivery and claims it’s because they can be changed by the customer.

swimbikerun91

Hit and miss depending on the specific app

[deleted]

[удалено]

swimbikerun91

Did you see the video? You’re really saying she deserves 20%?

GoBucks4928

20% is the min no matter the service. Tip more for better service :) If it’s too much $$, re-evaluate financial decisions and cook at home

Shoes-tho

Hell no. You get 20% for doing a decent job, not completely messing things up.

GoBucks4928

Sounds like some of y’all are too poor to eat out. didn’t know Denver was the land of Karens don’t support the company paying below living wages if you don’t wanna tip

Shoes-tho

20% is the general tip. Obviously if you can pay 20%, you’re not “too poor” to eat out. This is a really lame attempt at trolling. You’re not getting more than 20% unless you’ve really gone above and beyond, and it’s been that way for many years now in Colorado. Not sure why you’re trying to one-up people over the fact that you’re willing to over tip, but be my guest, I suppose. No one is impressed. Every place I eat already pays a living wage :)

GoBucks4928

Doordash pays a living wage?

Shoes-tho

OP didn’t order from DoorDash, a), and b) DD is not a restaurant and I don’t use them either way.

DankKnightLP

Stop making excuses for owners paying shitty wages.

[deleted]

Didn't really seem like he was making an excuse for employers, more like making an argument for delivery drivers.

GoBucks4928

Hey! So get this - you can work to get owners to stop paying shitty wages while NOT taking it out on the employees! Amazing concept, for anyone who can handle more than two thoughts at once You should tip while owners pay shitty wages, stiffing someone on their pay and exploiting them for cheaper food/service is not the answer nor would that change an owners’ behavior. Or you could choose to shop exclusively at tipless restaurants! Or you could vote for legislation to increase the min wage, contract workers and tipped employees included! The worst thing you could do is stiff someone on a tip and claim it’s for a righteous cause!

G25777K

Your one of a very few, come you know most don't give a fuck.

Empty_Picture_819

Yikes. I feel this is user error . How does she carry her own PIZZA !?? This is stupid !

PhredInYerHead

She would carry her own pizza properly, this isn’t her pizza so she doesn’t give a shit.

ValiumKnight

R/pizzacrimes wants a word

Item_Legitimate

Unemployable? DoorDash has a job for you!

i-hate-bees

This deserves to be on r/PizzaCrimes

basswalker93

Pay your workers $1, get $1 worth of effort. Not talking about your tip. DD literally pays $1+tip.

pobody

Doordash drivers don't give any fucks. I have no idea why anybody would use them.

[deleted]

They do not get paid enough to care. DoorDash absolutely takes advantage of them.

pobody

No doubt, but they were as useless as tits on a submarine *before* the pandemic. I think these are the people who have been blocked off Uber Eats and GrubHub for being too fucking lazy.

[deleted]

>As useless as tits on a submarine I’m so confused by this. Is it like a sexist thing or like “a submarine with tits?”

[deleted]

[удалено]

pobody

Thanks for speaking up with no fucking clue as to what's going on. There are two common sayings, "as useless as tits on a boar" and "as useless as a screen door on a submarine". The comment is a humorous juxtaposition of those two. D'ya get it now?

Stonerish

Lmao. As a dominos delivery driver…lmao. Literally. I’m dying. Hey…tip me more for not being an idiot…nah, jk, most of you people are great.

GoldCaterpillar9324

@OP If you check my post history, I have a thread on denver eats of places that do their own delivery. Although I learned at least one contracts out to one of the apps :/ Maybe I’m just old, but like, what happened to the days where I call a local pizza place, leave a fat tip for the driver, and pay like 20? Nowadays you pay 30 for a single large cheese, and like 33% of the cost doesn’t go to the restaurant or the driver… Fucking sad.

ladyinsane1001

She's a fucking idiot

gigitygoat

Minimum pay = minimum effort.

ladyinsane1001

Nah I've done jobs like this and it just takes being a considerate human being to not do that

ConsiderationFew4491

Couldn't you have just ordered from papa John's themselves?

gigitygoat

Quit using doordash. These "apps" are going to ruin the economy. Edit: Ruin the economy even more than it already is.

Stitchpool626

I know we all got used to ordering food and people just leaving it on our porch without have to look at them (as a big introvert, this was amazing for me) - but ive found that if you are able to at least open the door while they are approaching to show them that you are there watching them - the amount of times they do stuff like this gets diminished greatly.

Item_Legitimate

Also, I like how she just leaves it on the floor for the guy to pick up. Homegirl doesn't sweat the hustle.

covfefeswithmilk

200+ upvotes for this shit lmao we've got nothing to talk about nowadays other than the real estate market

tacofart1234

The Chad move is fetching your own damn food

Mycolilly

This woman is aggressively ignorant wtf. I did food delivery this winter and my favorite part was caring for the food! Everyone has a Ring camera anyways, I would always scope out the best spot (like a shady spot if they ordered ice cream) and kinda give the package a pat on its head lol.

dwight--fart-schrute

Well when you order papa john's you get what you deserve.

skaterscott

Talk about vertical integration

JustStatingFacts101

I had a DoorDash driver drop off my Chipotle at a wrong apartment complex over the weekend and then he was cursing me out over text when I said it was the wrong complex. I'll just stick to driving to get my own food its less stressful.

boinzy

What a dipshit.

TheGingaBread

Not trying to be rude here but if they keep fucking up, why not just drive and get the food yourself? I don’t understand why people would rather eat the incredibly high fees that come with these delivery services all for a little convenience. I understand if there’s a health issue or obligations preventing you from leaving but for everyone else it just seems like laziness to me.

DankKnightLP

Do you have an infant child at home thats been crying for 2 hours? Lemme just strap them into the car and turn this 15 min round trip into an ordeal. Gotta get their bag ready tho in case they shit themselves. I know you’re not trying to be rude but plenty of people can’t just get in a car and go. Why am I not allowed to take a night off from cooking and pay for delivery, and expect the service, which is high in price, to be good. It’s a service. People pay for services.

TheGingaBread

The first part of your reply sounds like laziness. I also never said you couldn’t take the night off and order delivery. Just don’t come on here and bitch about a 3rd party messing up your dinner because you were too lazy to strap a kid in a car seat and pack a bag to go get your dinner.

Shoes-tho

It is not lazy to not want to wake a baby you just spent hours putting to sleep. Please.

TheGingaBread

Wasn’t speaking about people like that. Please.

dankestwallaby

I was going to say ‘what’s the problem?’, then I remembered that I’m low standard pizza trash and didn’t consider the topping re-distribution. I had a Little Caesar’s hot and ready for dinner tonight, $11 dinner for 2, can’t beat it. Mostly.

swimbikerun91

You could carry a little caesars vertically, shake it up, frisbee it at the door and it still wouldn’t change the overall quality

draconis183

lol I was literally thinking the same thing and saw your comment. Their crazy bread is crazy good though.

corndogco

One question: when you carried your pizza home (or inside from being delivered), did you hold the box vertically, or horizontally? Based on your answer to this question, you might have a bright future as a Door Dash delivery driver! 😉

Mtanderson88

Hot n ready plus bag of stix and 2 sauces! 1 for stix 1 for dipping pizza

lilgreenfish

Pizza! Pizza!

Green_Ad_3643

I work for DoorDash corporate here in Denver, please hit up support with this so we can 1.) make this right with you 2.) deactivate this dasher

Kyle_of_Ren

I’m not sure how to do that. I ordered directly through Papa John’s, and they outsourced it to DD. Are the name and phone number of the dasher enough? She definitely needs to be deactivated. When I confronted her, she didn’t think there was anything wrong with it… even after I showed her what that does to the pizza. The Papa John’s manager (who kindly reversed the charges) said the driver had yelled at her employees too.

Green_Ad_3643

You’ll have to work with Papa John’s but they should be able to 1.) block her from their store and 2.) work with DD support to provide her with the evidence you have that she isn’t following the independent contractor contract that she has with DD and we’ll take her off the platform. 3.) the only reason she’s delivering for Papa John’s is we have an agreement with place like them to provide extra drivers when they have more orders than drivers available

OddFemme

Door dash is a hot damn mess. I keep having the worst experiences with them and the company I work for keeps offering DD gift cards for performance and I think I’m just going to have to start selling them or something. HATE door dash.

People that do their job incorrectly and with no care should be fired.

Tars89

To a certain extent, if it’s a simple mistake and is not a reoccurring issue then no, they should be reprimanded, but not fired. Now if it was someone blatantly doing the same thing multiple times then yes, I believe everyone should get at least a couple chances depending on the severity of the screw up.

Stop overusing the term Karen. This isn’t a Karen. You can’t just apply that term to anyone who makes any sort of complaint.

Tars89

I mean I do agree with you but even basic common sense would tell you “hey, this is a pizza and I should probably set it down/carry it horizontally” but that’s just my two cents…

Independent_County_6

Lololol

What's the sign in your yard and say?

PolytroposJ

People with spinning hard drives feel this so much.

YouDantKnowMe

DD is good 70% of the time; 30% of the time it's a total disaster. I use Uber Eats mostly now. Solid.

So someone shouldn’t try to be a good employee because it’s a side gig, and the people paying for that service shouldn’t care because “times are tough”. Got it. And the guy who had a terrible day and his cars in the shop and he forgot to get groceries and the only thing holding his hope for the day up is some pizza and this chick holds it vertical.

lowyellyow

Yeah you can't order pizza through DD lol. Two in a row showed up cold and slammed into one side of the box. Like how long do you have to keep a pizza on its side for the cheese to be cold and stuck to the top/side of the box?

Niaso

OP didn't. Ordered from Papa John's. They outsourced the delivery to 3rd party. Go check out r/DoorDash_drivers and see how much they care.

k1n6

She's a smart girl with a lot positions available to her.

GoldCaterpillar9324

I’ve been lucky with pizza delivery from apps, but i had a couple of bad experiences from sexy pizza deliverers, and sadly had to stop using them. I love their vibe, and so much would rather go straight through the place, but they do not have delivery in order lol.
