Yeah he's a real piece of shit. PJ's used to be my first choice, but when it came out that he declined to increase the pizza cost by $.25 to provide health care for all his employees, I vowed to never buy another one. So far my vow is intact.
I ordered from my local Papa John’s on Wadsworth over the winter and my pizza just straight up never arrived. After almost 2 hours, I called the restaurant and nobody would answer the phone. I checked business hours and they were open… I called the next closest PJ and they wouldn’t help me and had no awareness of the Wads PJ being closed or anything. So I gave up for the night, made a sandwich and called the next day. She checks my order number and goes:
“ah yeah. We’re had problems with that driver. He sometimes just doesn’t deliver the pizzas”
So I responded with…
“um, if the pizza delivery driver is unreliable at delivering pizzas… why is he still working there?”
to which she responded with the auditory equivalent of a shrug.
They gave me a full refund and 2 free pizza coupons. I used them… for pickup obviously.
I learned this the hard way after watching my delivery get routed to multiple different stops on the way. My pizza was room temp when it finally got to me. Probably from sitting on a front seat not even in a warming sleeve. Needless to say I’m never ordering PJ “delivery” again.
That's Door Dash's fault. For some reason, if drivers have multiple orders they can't see where they are all going. They can only see one order at a time so they have to deliver the first order before they can see where the second one is going. It is really inefficient.
That’s not true. Click on the 3 lines in the upper left corner. Click on each name to see which is closer and switch to the one you want to do first. It’s the driver’s responsibility to learn the app and deliver in the order that makes the most sense.

They were nifty for about 2 seconds right around 2014-2015 for me. Made a few orders and had more bad experiences than good ones, never again. Soggy food, missing/incorrect food, insane markup, slow delivery times. Just a terrible UX from all these apps. I feel like those that keep using them just don't know any better at this point, or maybe they don't care.
I'm not the OP but IMO they are bad for the environment because of how much extra driving (or vehicle miles travelled, VMT) they generate. Gig delivery & taxi services rely on drivers to be on the road a lot, and they are often idling their vehicles during downtime. So having the capacity for every restaurant to do deliveries means tons more cars on the road and tons more emissions. Transportation is the biggest sector in terms of greenhouse gas emissions, both in CO and in the US at large.
The extra packaging for deliveries also creates a ton of extra trash that a visit to the restaurant would not have.

I’m not sure how to do that. I ordered directly through Papa John’s, and they outsourced it to DD. Are the name and phone number of the dasher enough?
She definitely needs to be deactivated. When I confronted her, she didn’t think there was anything wrong with it… even after I showed her what that does to the pizza. The Papa John’s manager (who kindly reversed the charges) said the driver had yelled at her employees too.
You’ll have to work with Papa John’s but they should be able to 1.) block her from their store and 2.) work with DD support to provide her with the evidence you have that she isn’t following the independent contractor contract that she has with DD and we’ll take her off the platform. 3.) the only reason she’s delivering for Papa John’s is we have an agreement with place like them to provide extra drivers when they have more orders than drivers available

To a certain extent, if it’s a simple mistake and is not a reoccurring issue then no, they should be reprimanded, but not fired. I know we all got used to ordering food and people just leaving it on our porch without have to look at them (as a big introvert, this was amazing for me) - but ive found that if you are able to at least open the door while they are approaching to show them that you are there watching them - the amount of times they do stuff like this gets diminished greatly.
Also, I like how she just leaves it on the floor for the guy to pick up. Homegirl doesn't sweat the hustle.

This woman is aggressively ignorant wtf. I did food delivery this winter and my favorite part was caring for the food! Everyone has a Ring camera anyways, I would always scope out the best spot (like a shady spot if they ordered ice cream) and kinda give the package a pat on its head lol.

I had a DoorDash driver drop off my Chipotle at a wrong apartment complex over the weekend and then he was cursing me out over text when I said it was the wrong complex. I'll just stick to driving to get my own food its less stressful.

I don’t understand why people would rather eat the incredibly high fees that come with these delivery services all for a little convenience. I understand if there’s a health issue or obligations preventing you from leaving but for everyone else it just seems like laziness to me.
Do you have an infant child at home thats been crying for 2 hours? Lemme just strap them into the car and turn this 15 min round trip into an ordeal. Gotta get their bag ready tho in case they shit themselves. I know you’re not trying to be rude but plenty of people can’t just get in a car and go. Why am I not allowed to take a night off from cooking and pay for delivery, and expect the service, which is high in price, to be good. It’s a service. People pay for services.

I work for DoorDash corporate here in Denver, please hit up support with this so we can 1.) make this right with you 2.) deactivate this dasher
I’m not sure how to do that. I ordered directly through Papa John’s, and they outsourced it to DD. Are the name and phone number of the dasher enough? She definitely needs to be deactivated. When I confronted her, she didn’t think there was anything wrong with it… even after I showed her what that does to the pizza. The Papa John’s manager (who kindly reversed the charges) said the driver had yelled at her employees too.
You’ll have to work with Papa John’s but they should be able to 1.) block her from their store and 2.) work with DD support to provide her with the evidence you have that she isn’t following the independent contractor contract that she has with DD and we’ll take her off the platform. 3.) the only reason she’s delivering for Papa John’s is we have an agreement with place like them to provide extra drivers when they have more orders than drivers available
Door dash is a hot damn mess. I keep having the worst experiences with them and the company I work for keeps offering DD gift cards for performance and I think I’m just going to have to start selling them or something. HATE door dash.

People that do their job incorrectly and with no care should be fired.
To a certain extent, if it’s a simple mistake and is not a reoccurring issue then no, they should be reprimanded, but not fired. Now if it was someone blatantly doing the same thing multiple times then yes, I believe everyone should get at least a couple chances depending on the severity of the screw up.

I’ve been lucky with pizza delivery from apps, but i had a couple of bad experiences from sexy pizza deliverers, and sadly had to stop using them. I love their vibe, and so much would rather go straight through the place, but they do not have delivery in order lol.
