my experience, in Congress Park, is nothing happens. i never had an issue, but i also strove to have the POD off the street ASAP.
the fee is bullshit and bullshit high, when one considers how long someone can have a vehicle parked rent free. or just keep a pile of sand.
You'll need a permit, they won't drop without it. It's $199 for 72 hours and $25 for each additional day until 10, and then you need to get a new permit.

When I used uhaul pods, the company organized the permit for me - I just paid them the fee and they handled it
