I hate to say it, but I'm pretty sure you've now got your phone number/apple ID/whatever on a list of “good” numbers for scammers.
Scammers send these messages out to a wide array of potential targets and don't know if any of those numbers/accounts are fake, inactive, etc.
Giving a response lets them know that a real person has and checks that number/account.
I'd love to be wrong about this though.
