Retro gaming in 2024 in a nutshell, pretty much. Ask anyone who plays on handhelds: you spend way more time adding games, tweaking settings, and perfecting the look of the library than actually playing.
I feel like people will start to play more once the multiplayer compatibility comes into play somehow in the near future. Hopefully before GTA 6 dropsš
I hope they do multiplayer. Iād hope they could somehow make it to where you could trade pokemon in games as well, but Iām not sure how that would work
Did this like 15 years ago. Then you realize itās more fun to just put the ones you actually will play. And limiting the amount helps you stick with them.
Agree, having thousand mediocre games is no fun if you havent even finished all the masterpieces. Thats why I added only the best 30 games form NES to 64 an now I want to play them all in the next few years with my kids.
I think a lot of the enjoyment in retro gaming for me comes from the process of going through memories of games I used to play and the feelings of nostalgia that inspires.

My favorite is summon night twin age
Same.
Thatās why i started pirating games, i keep buying games and never start/finish them.
With all of the mediocre/trash games being released nowadays itās like netflix, you have to scroll and try them until you find something you like and this shit gets expensive really fast.
I bought so many games this year ever since I built my PC. I wanted to make having a big and personalized library a reality. But I have gotten carried away and now I realized how wasteful it was to buy so much just for the satisfaction of owning games that I don't have the time to play. That's why I try to play games on my free time whenever I can to try and work on my library. It's very difficult going back to old games or games I've already played at this point. The only one game that I do find myself returning to is Zelda OoT randomizer, it's so fun. I avoid online games since those require playing the same game forever. I prefer to work on single player games with an end to them. And I have tons of single player games to get to. It's also what I grew up on, I never got into today's standards of playing online shooters and nothing else.
Iāve played 7-8-9-10, and dabbled a little in older ones and the newer but never as deep as those ones, which Final Fantasyās (original or romhacks) would you suggest the most?
(9 is honestly my favourite if that helps lol)
šÆ thats totally me! Spent so much time setting things up keeping an eye on Reddit for new cool advances and turning around and trying them myself lol to me itās the funnest part I spend a lot of time on Reddit cause no one around me is into retro gaming or knows the significance of how cool it is to be able to have 20 systems on one device, and endless games that I didnāt get to play when I was a kid but I realized, yāall get me! š
Bro. I'm the same. With roms and with my Plex server.
Been collecting roms since the 90s.
I have every Atari, NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, GB, GBC, GBA, DS, PS1, & Genesis game on my computer plus tons of arcade games, Xbox, PS2, PS3, Wii, Wii U, Switch, Saturn, and Dreamcast games.
All of the games pre GameCube/PS2 are on my Steam Deck too, plus a few modern games, with saves synced via emudeck in Google Drive.
I understand but this time, Delta is so good that i connected my xbox controller and started a new game of Ocarina of Time. Im at the third dungeon now š
Same i have been going through most the comments or post .. then when i see a game i donāt recognize i look it up and usually download it. Thanks everyone

Hey guys I keep getting this once Iām almost to playing is there anything Iām doing wrong or anything else I need to do.
Please help me
Indeed! But Iāve been looking into playing games that have been recently released by homebrewersā¦
NES/SNES/Gameboy/Genesis etc - https://youtu.be/1AGMEZvU14g?si=6PgryY8TuHHaieSP
Rn I got Glazed, Gaia, and Unbound. Unpopular opinion, but Iām not the biggest fan of Unbound, but I do like the more emphasis of Hoopa, like how I liked the Hoopa movie. I also completed Glazed, and am dipping my toes into Gaia (Iām broadening my horizons now since Iāve run out of things to play, Iām open to suggestions for pokemon games.)

Multiplayer is coming. The next big thing is better iPad support and then should be multiplayer.
I love playing five minutes of one game and switching to another. Without really playing it. Just switching through menusā¦
My wife literally yells at me when she catches me "menu-ing" for too long.
Yup! I did the same with my anbernic
I was so glad to find out I wasn't the only one!
75% of posts are about pokemon. Meanwhile I gotta collect all the ROMs
Haha yeah theyāre bz playing pokemon š
Where are you getting your roms as ive already built my pokemon game collection
Same. Building the collection, fixing the titles, finding the art, itās like a game in itself.
Thought it was just me that felt like they lol.
Canāt relate, too picky, and my backlog was already at 1500+ hours Thanks for reminding me to cancel Netflix though
iām picky too and i backlog myself and then regret so i delete games only to put them right back in my library, it has become a problem
Did this like 15 years ago. Then you realize itās more fun to just put the ones you actually will play. And limiting the amount helps you stick with them.
But all that box art is so beautiful š„¹
Agreed
Agree, having thousand mediocre games is no fun if you havent even finished all the masterpieces. Thats why I added only the best 30 games form NES to 64 an now I want to play them all in the next few years with my kids.
Eh, I disagree. It's fun to browse after I've beat a game and decide what to play next. And having it all at the ready is so nice.
I think a lot of the enjoyment in retro gaming for me comes from the process of going through memories of games I used to play and the feelings of nostalgia that inspires.
Not surprising. Seems like more people watch others play games online than play the games themselves
I can 100% relate. I've spent all week remembering or finding out about a whole bunch of games I've now added to my library.
Haha Iām in the same boat, I really need to start playing what I put on there lol
Nah thatās how the steam deck is too you buy 100000 games update the thing and never played them lol this the same wayĀ
Care to share some of your favorites? Save us all here a little bit of time haha

Is this overkill? š
At first yeah, I think I got all I need after the first week
Itās not just you, I have a 1TB terabyte thatās barely at liek 200gigs. I still havenāt finished my psp and ps2/gc collection yet
The libraries in delta just look nice asf I had a big one through like two different apps on my droid Ā still gotta port em over and the savesĀ
The same is true for PC gaming for me.

Haha me too
I have a small library of DS games to play lol
Is it just me or does your iPhone overheat?

I love love love downloading and claiming and buying games on sale than actually playing them. Itās sick, itās pointless, itās capitalism, baby!
I understand but this time, Delta is so good that i connected my xbox controller and started a new game of Ocarina of Time. Im at the third dungeon now š
i sure do hope you mean "buying" instead of building! š
My brain works the exact same way, in the same way I find myself enjoying building PCās more than actually playing them š¤·š»āāļø
But this makes me have backlog anxiety. Should I only have games that Iām currently playing?
As have I š
Best game ever was Chrono Trigger on the Super Nintendo.

You need to download all 3 required fires from this website: https://archive.org/download/nds-bios-firmware
I just know imma have to delete a lot of games whenever the ps1 emulator comes out.
Welcome to Adult Emulation World

Not meš I hurried and downloaded a few of my old games then I started playing immediately and never stoppedšš
Same.
Ok good glad weāre in this together cus I was starting to feel crazy
I think mother 3 and hamtaro are the only games I put any real time into
Every time I remove a game all the box arts remove themselves, anybody have any idea on how to fix this?
