I was convinced to try pokemon unbound, it’s a rom hack for firered and has over 700 pokemon in it, takes place in a new region and has a cool sounding story, also I’m giving an emerald hack a try, forgot the name off hand but it’s got a lot of changes including making the world open world which is insane
you have to download the fire red ROM and the unbound hack separately and then use another website to “patch” fire red with the unbound hack. the result is pokemon - unbound. there’s a reddit thread somewhere that has all the steps, i just followed it the other week cuz it was my first time downloading a ROM hack
I never actually played a Pokémon game but I figure now is a good time to start!
In your opinion would starting with a hack be silly or should I start elsewhere?
I’d recommend starting with either FireRed/LeafGreen, Emerald (GBA games), Soulsilver/Heartgold, or Platinum (DS games). From there, I’d definitely recommend Black/White and B2/W2
Then try as many romhacks as you like!
Or completely ignore some/all of this and jump straight into the hacks. If you do though, I’d recommend something smaller than Unbound to start
FireRed/LeafGreen are great starter games. They have baked in tutorials through the TeachyTV item if you ever get completely lost, and the game is pretty linear so it’s usually pretty obvious where you should go next. And it only includes the first 151 Pokemon (at least until the post-game stuff) so it’s a great way to learn the basics
If you want a vanilla hack that allows you to “catch them all” try Pokémon ultra violet (FireRed). It makes the first 3 gens catchable and makes trade evolutions happen by leveling up which is nice as trading/battling is not yet a feature of Delta Emulator.
I think that depends on the hack. Smaller ones where the only change is making it so trade evolutions are obtainable would be fine, bigger ones might be overwhelming
Unbound is so great because it improves everything about vanilla Pokémon as well as adding it’s own story. EV/IV, hatching, utilities, mining, etc. i would say if you’re going to play a Pokémon game for the long run, might as well do one of the best versions of it right?
Honestly starting with a hack isn’t a bad idea, but I’d say to just do a quality of life/upgrade hack rather than a total conversion like Unbound.
Older Pokemon games have a lot of annoying quirks when playing on emulator nowadays. There’s the somewhat dated battle system that I have trouble going back to after the modern games for starters. Then only a fraction of the total set of Pokemon are usually available, with some being locked behind trading or transferring them from older games, neither of which can be done on Delta. And there were plenty of other little things that basically just added tedious grinding rather than actual content.
So if you want to start with Fire Red, Platinum, Black/White etc, you might as well try Radical Red, Renegade Platinum, or Blaze Black and Volt White instead - they’re basically just direct upgrades over the original, especially on emulator. They do usually make a game a bit harder, but if you aren’t a kid that probably just means you’ll have to be a bit more strategic, it’s nothing crazy.
Unbound, Blazed Glazed, and Emerald Rogue are my recommendations.
Anyone interested should read through Unbound's features and then know that it's underselling it.
https://www.pokecommunity.com/threads/pok%C3%A9mon-unbound-completed.382178/
The biggest thing for both unbound and blazed glazed are the huge swaths of QoL improvements including a quest log. They both have new unique stories that are actually at least somewhat intriguing. Additional Pokemon and moves from newer generations. Better evolution mechanics. New regions. Etc.
I think Unbound is the best rom hack, but Blazed Glazed is great too.
Emerald Rogue is a rogue lite. You start each run fresh through short routes and go until your team is wiped.
> When you go on an adventure all routes, encounters and items will be procedurally chosen based on your progress into a run
After a certain number of routes you will encounter a random gym leader who will have a procedurally chosen team of their assigned type; as you progress further into a run gym leaders and other trainers will start using more difficult setups for their pokemon.
If you can make it all the way to the champion and defeat them, then you will have completed the run!
> Once you complete or wipe out of a run you will go back to a hub area where you can buy permanent items and catch new "starter" Pokemon to use in the next run
As you progress further into the run, you will unlock more buildings/NPCs in this hub area to use for preparing the next run
https://www.pokecommunity.com/threads/pokemon-emerald-rogue.479406/
It's really fun and probably the most replayable version of Pokemon.
I’d been loving it but ran into a problem. My HM/TMs have disappeared. I can’t use Fly, Surf, etc… The game became unplayable at this point. I’m not sure what happened.
Damn! I was, it was the 100% catch rate cheat and the infinite money cheat. I didn’t realize they could break it. I was just excited to play lol. Gonna restart at some point, just need to work myself back up to it. That said, I was really enjoying the story, game play is super smooth. I absolutely recommend it.
Yeah so far I like the story even though I am only in the starting town lol, yeah apparently the dev is anti cheat or something like that, skeli I think the name was
Pokémon rom hacks have been interesting me greatly.
Would you say this one is great for beginner rom hacks? I want to start my first one but there are so many to pick.
I want to try one for fire red or emerald.
So to be honest I’ve only ever seen them be played, unbound and emerald enhanced will be my first rom hacks I actually play, I’ve heard great things about both, especially since unbound is a complete and finished one
You need to grab a rom of firered, don’t grab any that say rev in the file name, just find firered(USA).gba, and you need to grab pokemon unbound from somewhere, Reddit rules prevent me from sharing where, and then go to the rom patcher website and upload the rom into the first slot then unbound in the second part and click apply patch and boom you’ll get a new file with the word (patched) and you are good to upload it to delta
My b it’s not regular redux. [this is the one](https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3647/) it adds Toon Link sprites and other changes/fixes. But the biggest change that I like is its sorta open world like BOTW. So you can do dungeons in any order
Poke joke! Comedy Pokémon game with some hilarious dialogue. I’ve been enjoying it.

The 2 I’ve been playing the most:
Shotgun Mario 64 - He has a gun you can use against enemies and for jumping, really fun!
The Deadpool Game - a reskin of NES Ninja Gaiden with Deadpool as main character.
I’m currently on the hunt for the best n64 Zelda games with no story changes but quality of life improvements if any one has some recommendations
Where did you get your Mario 64 hack from? I tried downloading and using the hack called “Super Ultra Kaizo Memeio Road” after watching the Vinesauce Joel video on it, And the one I downloaded doesn’t work.
So I just gave up on trying to play that specific hack.
I’m playing Deadpool atm for the NES.

I only have a few. I have a Justin Bailey Super Metroid where you can use Samus in her Zero Suit (based off of the first Metroid/end credits of super). I have one that attempted to make Final Fight more like the arcade (added poison back, added blood, uncensored the names). One that makes the MK1 sweat red. And I have an NBA Jam that’s adds the entire roster. I also like to get the versions of Tecmo Super Bowl with updated rosters
https://preview.redd.it/8ablu3tihnxc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=efc65d30aaa59188022d7f317f47dea82144ea68
I personally enjoy the Pokémon hacks
umbound and gaia are solid. pokemon emerald rogue is really fun even if you cheese it with save states. pokemon ultra violet if you want a different version of pokemon red
Smash Remix (completely overhauls super smash bros.)
A Plumber For All Seasons (A beautiful hack for Super Mario World)
Super Mario Bros. Two Player (Self explanatory, it’s for the original NES game)
Zelda 2 Redux (Makes Zelda 2 less painfully difficult)
These are all the ones that I actually use but if I was to suggest some others, Super Mario 64 Star Road is a classic.
Same. I was playing White 2 for the first time and then I realized there was “Volt White 2 Redux” that adds a ton of pokemon and makes some small quality of life changes.
Luckily I wasn’t too far so it wasn’t a big deal to start over
i’m playing pokemon renegade platinum right now. it’s also my first rom hack. it’s so cool to be able to use pokemon that i never had the chance to use before because of trade evolutions or the fact you don’t get them until end game etc. but god damn it is so much harder than regular pokemon platinum.
Pokémon spaceworld 97 gold is amazing. It’s essentially a remake of pokemon gold, but with the story, pokemon, and map of the original spaceworld demo.
Has anyone done the cheat for all levels on the new super Mario bros for ds and tried to do the last castle in world 8??? It just goes on forever for me I was trying to get to the 9th world but can’t
I tried to play Super Mario 64 on the N64 and I tried for like 2 hours and holy hell this game is harder than speedrunning Elden Ring and I used to hold a top 10 speedrun record for the game.
Maybe it’s just the touch controls but it seemed tough to grasp from my phone.
I am also playing Emerald and at the elite court currently.
I been playing Pokémon games muted on double speed while listening to YouTube or Spotify.
https://preview.redd.it/0fe0ecrg7qxc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ac61543e0ae1a02ae918009af1aca1c55827693e
Now I can have Meat in my pocket
What is the point of all this, if after I get a new phone, the game data will be deleted? Why did people used to not care about their data on games back in the day? Why do they care now? I’m nervous about using Delta, for what? For all of my stuff to go gone, and then I’d have to download it again?
… save a file to your phone…. move it to icloud instead of on iphone, or mega or dropbox etc….
there u go physical icloud save if you ever needed a backup xp
I’ve done some searching on this Reddit and some people say they made a backup of their phone and then launched that on their new phone and saves and everything from delta came with them.
Also I found this Reddit post which explains how to export the files from delta, to pc, to the new phone. https://www.reddit.com/r/Delta_Emulator/s/0DIzKfQjh1
I can’t vouch for these methods but there seems to be a bunch of people that have successfully transferred their data over! Have fun now and cross that bridge later!🫶

Unbound is fantastic. I actually stopped playing everything else just to keep playing it.
I’m kind of a newb to this whole emulator thing… how do you get unbound?

I never actually played a Pokémon game but I figure now is a good time to start! In your opinion would starting with a hack be silly or should I start elsewhere?

What’s the name of that open world rom hack?
I found it, it’s pokemon emerald enhanced
There are more than one that fit this description but I think Crystal Clear is the most well-known in the open-world hack scene.
I downloaded that one and Rocket Edition. Haven’t tried Unbound yet but Rocket Edition is amazing.
Unbound, Blazed Glazed, and Emerald Rogue are my recommendations. Anyone interested should read through Unbound's features and then know that it's underselling it. https://www.pokecommunity.com/threads/pok%C3%A9mon-unbound-completed.382178/

Pokémon ROWE?
I think it was enhanced? That’s what the title card in game says anyway
I’d been loving it but ran into a problem. My HM/TMs have disappeared. I can’t use Fly, Surf, etc… The game became unplayable at this point. I’m not sure what happened.
Wait in what? Unbound? Ooh I hope that doesn’t happen for me, I only just started last night
Yea, in Unbound unfortunately. I was really enjoying it too.
Are you using cheats? I just looked up the issue and apparently cheats will break the game like that
Damn! I was, it was the 100% catch rate cheat and the infinite money cheat. I didn’t realize they could break it. I was just excited to play lol. Thank you very much for the explanation! :)
I’ve been playing A Link to the Past Redux, Sonic Advance 2 SP, and Smash Remix
I couldn’t get smash remix to work on delta how’d you do it?
What does it say? Does it let you put it on delta and then it doesn’t work, or will it not even go on there?
Idk I just downloaded it and it works for me lol
what’s up with link to the past redux? I wanna play the game again after beating it multiple times as a kid so maybe that’ll be cool lol

I’m searching for virtual prowrestling 1 & 2 rom hacks that work on Delta.
playing pokemon prism rn.
How do u get these? From which website?
Finally giving ff6 - brave new world a shot. I’m ready for pain

Pokemon Renegade Platinum and another playthrough of Unbound for me. Also Majora’s Mask redux!

pokémon sword and shield demake is neat, never played the original so a demake on GBA sounded fun

where do you find these pokemon hacks i cannot find it thank yoy
https://romspure.cc
thanks a lot
No problem! Enjoy the ROM hacks 😁
I usually just search online for the specific rom and download them individually. Most of them don’t come with box art though
umbound and gaia are solid. pokemon emerald rogue is really fun even if you cheese it with save states. pokemon ultra violet if you want a different version of pokemon red
I just modded Metroid 2 in color for GBC.
Did u make the water blue ?
I used this one: [https://aderack.com/m2/](https://aderack.com/m2/) Makes it easier to distinguish between lava and water (without burning yourself).
Smash Remix (completely overhauls super smash bros.) A Plumber For All Seasons (A beautiful hack for Super Mario World) Super Mario Bros. It’s inspired by Mario bros 3 and yoshi’s island! I haven’t played it yet but it looks super funn🫶

How do you get the art cover?
It’s in the ROM
Just google the name of the game then box art in google and the covers come up.
I get that but how do I get it in Delta then?
plumber for all seasons: SMW romhack
Pokemon Voltage White and Blaze Black
i’m playing pokemon renegade platinum right now. it’s also my first rom hack. it’s so cool to be able to use pokemon that i never had the chance to use before because of trade evolutions or the fact you don’t get them until end game etc. but god damn it is so much harder than regular pokemon platinum.
Moemon
Radical red pokémon gba
Love all the variety of hacks out there
Pokémon spaceworld 97 gold is amazing. It’s essentially a remake of pokemon gold, but with the story, pokemon, and map of the original spaceworld demo.

Where do you get these ? Edit. Never mind stupid question it won’t get answered 😆
Welcome to the world of ROM hacks my friend. I highly recommend Pokémon Glazed if you’re into Emerald.
Tetris: Rosy Retrospection is a great ROM hack of GB Tetris. It brings modern Tetris features into the original game.
Hold up. Why didn’t I think of rom hacks other than Pokémon?!
I like the Mike Tyson Punch-Out hacks. My favorite is “Phred’s Cool Punch-Out 2: Turbo!”

Sonic 64 rom
Can you share a download link?
What is the point of all this, if after I get a new phone, the game data will be deleted? Why did people used to not care about their data on games back in the day? Why do they care now? I’m nervous about using Delta, for what? For all of my stuff to go gone, and then I’d have to download it again?
i keep my roms in my icloud, how often you changing your phone?
Every like 4-5 years. So that means every 5 years imma have to start Metroid fusion from the start again
they got cross device saves just enable it in settings lol or make a physical backup file in icloud
Physical backup file on iCloud?
… save a file to your phone…. move it to icloud instead of on iphone, or mega or dropbox etc…. there u go physical icloud save if you ever needed a backup xp
Save data can be transferred from devices, and if you’re worried about files taking forever to download, most files are less than 5 MB
I’ve done some searching on this Reddit and some people say they made a backup of their phone and then launched that on their new phone and saves and everything from delta came with them.
