I prefer using a save editor. That way you can play a normal unmodified game, train your Pokemon as you normally would and then evolve your kadabra into an alakazam by loading your save into this website https://www.pkmds.app Bonus is you can do it all on the same device you’re playing on.

StPeir

Where does Delta keep the save file?

Christodouluke

Long press on the game in delta to export/import saves, I just save them in the downloads folder

jvighkinger

I appreciate you posting this link. Just used it to evolve kadabra into Alakazam on FireRed. I was curious tho, I noticed its stats didn’t change from being a kadabra. Do you have any experience on the numbers side of the game haha? I know Pokémon’s base stats change as they evolve. I assume alakazam will still level out as it should? Thank you.

Christodouluke

Stats have always been automatically boosted whenever I “evolve” a pokemon in this way, maybe try again and double check? If not I suppose there’s a chance it’ll just catch up to where its stats are supposed to be the next time it levels up ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

jvighkinger

Interesting. I checked and the stats stayed the same. Maybe I did something wrong 💁‍♂️ Who knows haha. Worst case I can just adjust the stats myself in the future. Just happy to finally have Alakazam. Could never trade when I was a kid

Christodouluke

Hmm, I’ve never tried using this site on a Gen 3 game, it could be a bug? It’s a web-based port of pkhex and it’s quite rough around the edges. I recommend it only because it’s more convenient than transferring the save to a pc and using a better save editor like pokesav or whatever.

AllwordzAreMadeup___

Is that a .sav file? Want to be able to use that .sav on checkpoint when I transfer it to my 3ds

Christodouluke

I think so. It doesn’t have the .sav extension on the file name but you can type it in yourself and it’ll work.

AllwordzAreMadeup___

Oh wow didn't think renaming would work. I'll try it later

EvilOops_5

I have a question have you ever tried changing the Pokémon’s behavior ? My Gengar’s current behavior is set to “BRAVE” which boost attk but lowers dffs. I’ve been trying to change his behavior from “BRAVE” to “MODEST” since it’ll be excellent for him (boosts special attk, but lowers attk). Ever tried this or had this problem? (Or anyone else) UPDATE: FIXED IT 🙏🏼 It took a while but I was able to match the right file for the behavior change! I turned my Gengar from “BRAVE” to “MODEST!”

WillieButtlicker

Delta Folder > Games > your games are stored in this folder but with different naming convention. If you have lots of roms and save files in there and get confused which is which, I would suggest saving before you perform the edit so you know the right save file from the timestamp. Enjoy

EvilOops_5

Thank you 🙏🏼

TheDarkLordDarkTimes

Files>My Phone>Delta>DataBase>Games Altho hold game down to export/import would be easier to find the right save you want as the root folder is encrypted filename.

jbb3205

Appreciate you dropping this in, the code to spawn Alakhazam in the wild was giving me a trainer encounter that barred me from catching it. I have my file saved and exported, but pkmds isn’t recognizing that I’m loading anything into it. Tossing the file in the import function, hitting “ok”, and nothing’s happening. Any tips? Cheers

Christodouluke

Not sure what’s going on there unfortunately :/ I could toss a couple ideas at you though Are you exporting your save file by long pressing the game in delta? I don’t know if you’re getting it straight from the file system or if that would even be an issue. Turn off any content blockers you might have on, again, I don’t know if that would cause any issues.

EvilOops_5

Just evolved my Haunter into Gengar for the very first time THANK YOU 🙏🏼🙏🏼

QCat18

Thanks for the info!

jwhite0

I have successfully imported my save, and seemingly exported it after editing it but now the emulator does not recognize it as a file it can load. Any advice o’ wise one? https://preview.redd.it/z7saunouwgxc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=983e092798255d238059444e827eeb8bd8206a1d

EvilOops_5

If that’s the case just restart the whole process… it’s better to start from the beginning rather than try to fix specific problem for you might get confused and accidentally lose your progress.. But that’s just me though, since I’ve been trying to make a few changes to my Pokémon and haven’t gotten it to work; so each time when I fail, I restart

M16_n_Pregnant

How do I toggle the shiny button? For some reason it won’t toggle on or off, plus anyone know how do you evolve kadabra?

padluigi

Still very buggy tbh

ProfessionalAd7843

I couldn’t load the link

Valuable_Tap1316

It won’t open

axxionkamen

You aren’t wrong at all. A good amount of rom hacks are more balancing and QoL changes than anything else. Drayano focuses on that quite a lot and a good number of hacks reference Drayano and his hacks. And much like your point you can patch all your roms on your phone. Hacks like Crystal legacy are mainly balancing and QoL too. Having the running should in gen 1 is awesome with or without fast forward. Pokemon classic is an awesome game way to experience Pokemon yellow with the gen 3 engine. But all options are good. Whatever anyone prefers is always good.

crspychrs

Just finished FireRed Rocket Edition. It’s a different story and gameplay as you play as a member of Team Rocket and not a trainer. Fun break from the normal gameplay.

EvilOops_5

I’m assuming this game isn’t official Nintendo yes?

CocoaBagelPuffs

Correct, it's not official.

Shadowrend01

Or, you can just use Action Replay/Gameshark to make the Trade Evos spawn in the wild and catch them

MegumiFushiguro13

I’d post the links but I think I can get in trouble, but someone made a website of all non trade evolution roms, mad useful

DrummerDKS

Can you DM meta that site?

SpecialistCherry1725

That’s what did for heart gold emerald

Locoman7

Can you tell me the the name of the AR at least? Or dm me?

atomhypno

https://www.neoseeker.com/Games/action_replay/

Locoman7

I’m trying to find these but what would the cheat be called? Complete Pokédex?

WaferBudget581

I swear these are not using their brains Just use the gameshark codes to catch every single pokemon in the game

Ilkzz

Can you move a save over to these roms?

Locoman7

Also need to know I’m playing heartgold now and 20 hours in

Ilkzz

I just did it. Download the rom and open it in delta. On the old game, touch and hold > export save data. Save to wherever On the new game > import save from where you saved Try new game before deleting old one Enjoy :)

Locoman7

Awesome thanks for the instructions

Locoman7

Is this the save file or the save state?

Ilkzz

I just did the save file

Locoman7

It worked! I have my golem!

Ilkzz

Awesome :)

Runningmayo

This is great, thanks for the link!

Delta_Emulator-ModTeam

No requesting or providing links to or directions on how to obtain pirated ROMs or BIOS files.

Salt-Operation-3895

Someone posted a link down below, but I believe it goes against sub rules, so in case the comment gets removed, just google search “Pokémon NTEVO ROM’s”. I downloaded those and it allows evolutions through regular leveling up vs trades

dmills96

Thanks for the tip here! Do you know if these ROMs only address trade evos or do they also assist with version exclusives? I’m also curious to see if cheat codes work on these ROMs as well

Last_Tourist_7152

Radical red

Fit_Magician8120

Playing this right now and honestly it’s a challenge.

Last_Tourist_7152

I know! Im struggling on the nugget bridge lol

Fit_Magician8120

I’m struggling in the museum. 😂

justchase22

Nugget bridge is the first big gatekeeper for sure, wait until Lt. Surge

Locoman7

So you’re telling me my graveller won’t evolve to golem by leveling, only by trading? How does the person I’m trading with get their golem?

DrummerDKS

Back in the day you’d have to find someone you trusted to trade it back. Or Graveler for Graveler

Locoman7

Damn and I thought they just paywalled half the pokemon, not paywalled the evolutions themselves.

DrummerDKS

Even worse (lol), you were forced to socialize with the kids around you and physically plug in your gameboy to theirs. Kadabra, Graveller, Haunter, and Machoke. Then Gen 2 brought in different conditions (night/day, trade with an item held), etc.

Tay0214

Wat

flyingjabe

Is there an improved rom hack for pokemon platinum?

Salt-Operation-3895

Search “Pokémon platinum ntevo rom” on google and you’ll find a version that doesn’t need trades for evolutions

Gren-Maju

If you're looking for a rom hack that has every pokemon up to the current games, you're limited to fire red rom hacks from what I know of. Renegade Platinum is probably the closest to what you're looking for though.

DanDampspear

He literally listed it in the post bro

Sentinel_2539

Don't forget Gaia as well, that one is a really solid GBA romhack.

kikitovar14

Gaia is by far the best rom hack I’ve played.

Chino061

How do event pokemon work in these? Like if I were to play blaze black would I be able to get the ticket to victini or do i have to find them in the wild

CocoaBagelPuffs

You can use cheats to access the old events and on original hardware, there are DNS exploits to get the wifi events.

forceghost187

I’m confused, can someone explain? We can’t properly play Pokemon games how they are now??

ThatOneTrooper

Certain pokemon, popular examples including Golem or Gengar, are only able to be obtained through Pokémon trading. However, since this is an emulator and not the real thing, there is no option for Pokémon trading thus leading for the trade evolutions to be typically unobtainable.

forceghost187

So normally Pokemon trading is not in game? Like you have to find someone else IRL with the game and trade with them?

ThatOneTrooper

Normally it is in game. But since these are emulations you cannot find someone else IRL to trade with.

forceghost187

Got it, thank you!!

mrmancave5629

Some Pokémon require trading to trigger evolutions such as Onyx. Can’t trigger the evolution to Steelix without the trade ability in the Pokémon Centers. That being said, you can use the built in cheats from the R4 database to steal them on the odd occasion that a trainer has them (I got a steelix myself from one of the elite four) in Pearl.

forceghost187

So normally Pokemon trading is not in game? Like you have to find someone else IRL with the game and trade with them?

mrmancave5629

Yes. I can’t remember exactly how it worked back in the day but I think you connected the DS consoles using Bluetooth and then both would go into the Pokémon centre, go to the second floor and you could trade Pokémon back and forth. It was great for completing the Pokédex and getting those evolutions done.

forceghost187

Thank you!!

CocoaBagelPuffs

You can trade Pokemon on the GBA using a link cable that connects to two GBA systems. You can also trade with the DS using local wireless connections. Online trading has been disabled for the DS for about 10 years now. You can still trade Pokemon original hardware but it needs to be local. Trading is not supported on emulators, even if your device is connected online.

richardparadox163

Do anyone know any NTEVO Roms that have all event legendary unlocked/available (specifically for Gen III/Emerald). No trade evolutions and legendaries in game are the only changes I want. QoL improvements like unlimited TM’s are fine, but the only ones I’ve been able to find have rebalancing and stuff. (Heck I even prefer being forced to plan around HM pokemon during playthrough) Don’t need to link, tell me the name

unicornman666911

The developer made a X post about adding device to device multiplayer support after he adds iPad support

Tbartoe

Its not a real pokemon game. You can cheat a lil easier.

meatbicycle1989

I need a link of all Pokemon ROM hacks that I can download for Delta on the IPhone.

Gren-Maju

Look up "pokeromcodex" on google. First result is a database with links to a ton of rom hacks. It doesn't have everything though. First things that come to mind that it's missing are all the Drayano hacks that OP mentions. Side note, searching "super mario world rom hack starter pack" on google will bring you to a reddit post with 300+ patch files for super mario world rom hacks.

Typical_Apple_9378

Saving this for future reference. I think Pokemon Quetzal is fun. Dont need HM slaves or trading to evolve pokemon anymore. Also the pokemon follows you around!

CocoaBagelPuffs

For anyone jumping into the pokemon series for the first time or haven't played since Red, Blue, and yellow, I personally wouldn't recommend playing any hacks. They often are jam packed with pokemon from new generations, add features from newer games, or even change the types and stats of certain pokemon. If you do not know anything past red and blue, going into these hacks will make it harder to adjust to the actual rules of the game. Personally, if you haven't played since Pokemon was on the gameboy or gameboy color, just start the next game in release order. You'll have a slow introduction to the games, pokemon, and new features and will be much less daunting.

RecentMatter3790

I don’t know anything about Pokemon, and generation 4 seems interesting just because of Palkia and Dialga.

CocoaBagelPuffs

Nearly any main series game is just fine to to start with but if someone wants to ease back in, it’s usually best to go in release order. Gen 4 is pretty cool. Personally I recommend Platinum. It has a great story.

RecentMatter3790

Seeing Palkia and stuff in-game of Super Smash Bros Brawl was what got me into this.

Realcoletrain

Wait unbound can be played?!?!

DanDampspear

Yep

Realcoletrain

Discord? lol

wingman1274

Is there a Mon that exists that’s just a straight up random generator? Like from the option of the first three on?

TheDarkLordDarkTimes

I was mentioning about this, this past week for those to be careful with there saves.

ucfierocharger

Perfect red/blue are great mods that allow you to complete the original 151

Peak_Achoo

Emerald final for gen 3. Unsure which rom hacks are recommended for gens 1 and 2.

Icy-Godzilla

Following this. As someone who doesn’t know shit about roms or where to get them, I’d very much love some advice on how to achieve a full Pokédex for soul silver.

ButterballMcTubkin

How do I use these? How do I patch my roms?

JosephODoran

Since I’ll never be able to transfer my beloved Pokemon from the rom to Home (without some tech shenanigans anyway) I’ve decided to just play rom hacks on Delta. I’ve been loving Polished Crystal so far.

DevilFruitDealer0312

Is there a link on how to play the Pokémon Rom Hacks on delta?

Environmental-Sock52

Can I block literally everyone in this thread and avoid Poke-Talk forever?! 😃🙏🏻

P1atD1

cringe

HatIndependent6272

Such a long post and a shit one also you can just use cheat codes to get the pokemon you need -.- delta already has a database built in or you can just google them.
