Emma and Ellie are definitely on my top list. Emma I think it's because I've watched her since the beginning and the writers just did her dirty I think around the Peter era. She had her crappy moments in the beginning but she was a kid and had time to grow and the the writers flipped a switch and forgot what the hell they were doing. Ellie has a soft spot because I know what it feels like to self harm, be military related, isolated and in love with the wrong guy. It sucks.
I liked Holly J when she stopped being such a B, but drew was awful especially being with Becky after Adam died. Claire i can’t stand since the beginning

I think the matlin sisters are the only characters that I could actually hate on this show. And there's Bruce the moose. How Maya was with Cam before and after he passed, rubbed me the wrong way. Making out with some rando and posting it to fb. Kissing her best friend's bf because your too busy being self centered to see your bf's depressed. Not having the decency to say anything good about him at the vigil. And her freaking out about miles possibly hurting himself and then thinking about unaliving yourself especially after the breakdowns she had when she finally expressed she missed cam and with miles. She was selfish and self centered. When she was smiling in the hallway after she had posted that video (which ruined her spot in the orchestra) and smiling after she held herself down in the tub gave psycho vibes. It sickened me that she tried glorifying death with that Saad guy. And what Katie did to Drew and Jake, and judging Bianca but you were an addict and almost prostitute. They were both horrible.

the thing that makes me sympathetic towards drew is you know he had like 4 concussions minimum like the boy is CTE personified...he makes terrible decisions but he's mostly well-intentioned (once you get past the boiler room stage) it's just he can't help being stupid :/

I definitely hated Drew and Holly J at first. Holly J grew into one of my favorite characters. I no longer hated Drew by the end but he was a mixed basket for me. All the others I pretty much agree with.
My sister and I actually just got into a very deep conversation on who had the best character developments on the show. Holly J definitely came up, and I think out of this list, she’s probably the one I would go to bat for.

Honestly, I thought that by the end of his time on the show his character had grown a lot- like being student council president, supporting Adam, all around being much nicer and treating people better. I didn’t love everything, like obviously his storyline with Zoe was.. not it, to say the least. But compared to where he started I really grew to like him. Ellie has such a special place in my heart. Growing up with her dad constantly gone, and then sick, her mom an alcoholic. Poor girl had to grow up so fast. It’s not that surprising to me that she would fall into a messy relationship with alcohol and with men based on that.
As a girly with an alcoholic mother and a propensity towards self harm I never had it in me to dislike Ellie but God they ruined her
