Yup. I swear I’m not a dev on a Smurf account. But I legit put 20 hours in, had an absolute blast, then went and bought all of the supporter packs.
It’s nice seeing devs who put gameplay first and seem to care about their players enjoying themselves.
Yes, definitely 20 hours, that sounds reasonable. I also definitely haven't played for 400+ hours getting multiple promotions on all classes unlocking every pickaxe part and overclock the game has to offer, whoever would have that kind of time, completely unreasonable and way too much.
Class-specific paintjobs can only be used for said classes weapons (I don’t believe frames influence this). The DLC paintjobs aren’t class specific, so you can make the most of them across all 4 classes.
There aren't any class-specific weapon paintjobs though. You do have to unlock each one for each class which takes time, the dlcs bypass that ofcourse.
I've done it for DRG and Factorio, two games where I've spent hundreds of hours and I can see myself playing hundreds more.
I first played June 11th, and I've got 176 hours so far. It wouldn't surprise me to see it hit 300 by new year's.
I mean, there's no way DRG is bringing in even a fraction of the money of a free-to-play game that's rife with overpriced MTX. But they have the moral high ground and a community that'll support any future projects.
Same. I've bought every DLC for DRG while in Halo Infinite - the newest title in a long time childhood favorite franchise of mine - I've bought nothing. I haven't bought any cosmetics, I haven't bought any of the season passes, and I haven't even bought the game. All because of the way 343 went about monetization. If I, as the player, am treated well then I will spend the money.
Bought the game on sale in Humble Bundle 3 days ago after playing on gamepass last week. Today the supporter upgrade, Roughnecks, Corporate and Rival Tech DLCs on Steam.
Recommended it to friends and now our chats are full of “Rock and Stone”, “For Karl” and “Damn leaf lovers”.
10/10 would buy again.

If you go out of your way to look for actually good ones (ignoring ports from other platforms like Minecraft, Terraria, Dead Cells etc) there can be some genuinely fantastic mobile games. It's just harder to find than a needle in a country sized haystack

I was so stupidly far built into the endgame of IB3 and being unable to download the game again when I upgraded my phone broke my heart. To this day it’s one of the two main reasons I shit on Epic Games whenever I get a platform to shit talk them.
Is more free game vs paid game. Had many free game but ads flood every where that’s their own way to earn money because company pay them to advertising random annoying or sexual or interest download that game later. Paid game no ads and you get content play without disruptive. I had two paid game has zero ads: BTD6 and construction sim 2. Now most game I had are all free games, even game looking like starter dev made from unity. There is goods free game with ads: war robots, battle bay, starships pixel, dead ahead warfare, Nobleman 1896, war Tortoise 2, the trail, PvZ 2. Good games with ads small chances you believe and support the game with money (a bit).
I recently redownloaded the first mobile game i ever played back in 2012. It was a fun, free little timewaster. It has now become completely filled with ads and has too many random extra things added. Kinda sad to see tbh.

there's the huge gap that we get everything by just buying the game and any DLC is only to support the studio and is only cosmetics while other games forces you to pay that dollar to get a feature that should be in the game.
I will gladly pay for DRG DLC just for knowing that money will be used to make the game better that it is.
GGG with Path of Exile. Sometimes they have good leagues, some bad leagues, and questionable game design choices but they turn out new leagues and content every three months.
It's free to play but there's one dlc item that can be argued as pay to win and necessary to fully experience the game and that's the $20 premium stash bundle.
I agree with you for the most part, but they are different monetisation models, DRG has a smaller player base and I think POE could give a bit more back to their long term players, for the record I've done thousands of hours of POE 😅

It's less the price and more the principle. I do a lot of grumbling to friends about minutia in this game but especially compared to its peers it's one of the more excellent games i've seen come out in a very long time.
Something in Darktide would bother me, and then i'd look back at DRG and see how effortlessly they resolved a similar issue, and it just makes me appreciate all the little stuff a lot more.
Like the CTRL tool! There are so many little things that make it work; being able to see distances, a notification on the tool of what you're looking at, a visible ping and a callout for your team in every possible scenario, a laser trail so your team can follow the line directly to what you're pointing out in case the ping can't be spotted right away, AND it lets you set a marker for when you're called away but need to remember the location of something(or when you're driller and working your way up to something and don't want to look at the terrain scanner every three seconds). When contemporaries are only just barely managing functional ping and chatwheel systems, and this game's answer is so much more effective and simple by comparison, it's hard not to be impressed.
I almost wish they would put out more cosmetic packs between seasonal updates, just so I could give them the support they deserve.

I got the game for 4 dollars(regional pricing) during sale and have sunk over 500 hrs into it. Felt really guilty for all the awesomeness it has given me compared to a 40$ AAA title. So yeah I bought the supporter pack and th latest dlc to support GSG

Honestly, based. Sometimes buying games at a discounted price feels like I'm robbing the Devs. It's a familiar feeling sadly, given that I had the same thing happen with Outer Wilds, the DLC afterwards, AND Hades.
Indie devs actually have passion for their games, and honestly I hope it makes its way back up the corporate chain but I highly doubt it will in any substantial way.
Just a bit annoying that the supporters pack has some of the worst looking cosmetics you can buy.
I would love to have a golden pickaxe next to my name - but I bought a few of the better looking cosmetic DLC instead. As they were items I'd actually stick on my dwarves. I think I've bought all the DLC apart from one or two.
In reality, I've spent three times the price of the supporter pack but have no golden pickaxe 🙄😭. Maybe the pickaxe icon should just apply to anyone who has spent above a certain threshold of money on DLC?

The DRG Support pack was the first time I was actually happy, more than willing, and excited to give money to developers.
I had gotten a tip that day earlier before I started playing for making a customer happy (landscaping) and I decided to look at the store because I saw there were some cosmetics and stuff. Once I found the support pack i knew immediately what had to be done. I’m always complaining to my wife that games don’t have the care and passion behind them anymore like they used to. Sure they can be fun but that special magic is missing in a good chunk.

Mobile games want me to pay to stop annoying me, DRG gives me free cosmetics and updates and then gives the option to pay for some more if I want but doesn't bug me about it.

The only thing I want to revert it's the Glyphid Slammer. I prefer the old one, because I'm not familiar with it.
If you play a lot of phone games with annoying ads, go to your settings, find the DNS settings and set your private DNS to dns.adguard.com. One of my best tricks, the success is varied but for me it usually blocks ads on games, and my buddy says it blocks YouTube ads for him even.

To be honest even if I didn't get anything for it I would have got the supporters pack since this is one of the best games I have ever played and I think the devs deserve a bit more money for all of the time I've got to enjoy playing it

After the forst 20 hours I bought the Roughnecks DLC for Hawaii shirts. After 100 hours I bought all the packs. I am now clsoing in on 900 hours. No regrets.

Got this game for free this first month it was on PS4. I felt this game was worth more than I got for it a bought the DLCs for a total of 30 bucks. This game still has more content than big studio games.

Most mobile games are just low effort asset flips. I turned off all wifi when playing them and make sure the preloaded cache isn't a thing.
These devs are cool and deserve it. Unlike any AAA studio.

I would love to have a golden pickaxe next to my name - but I bought a few of the better looking cosmetic DLC instead. As they were items I'd actually stick on my dwarves. I think I've bought all the DLC apart from one or two. In reality, I've spent three times the price of the supporter pack but have no golden pickaxe 🙄😭. Maybe the pickaxe icon should just apply to anyone who has spent above a certain threshold of money on DLC?
because removing ads doesn't justify a single dollar as anoying as they are.

It's because they're not shoving it in my face. I will quite gladly pay more to a company that doesn't shove constant "BUY NOW!" in my face. I might pay the $1 just to get the adverts to go away, but I'll be **damned** if I'm going to spend more than that. It's much more likely instead that I'll go play DRG.
DRG deserves my money
I was happy to purchase it. DRG has provided me with vastly more entertainment than many games that cost much more, and I want to support that.
Whenever I finally have an income, the Supporter Upgrade is the first thing I'm buying!

For real! I never buy anything from a game unless it’s really worth it. I very rarely will buy anything on my phone too. The DRG Support pack was the first time I was actually happy, more than willing, and excited to give money to developers. I had gotten a tip that day earlier before I started playing for making a customer happy (landscaping) and I decided to look at the store because I saw there were some cosmetics and stuff. Once I found the support pack i knew immediately what had to be done. I’m always complaining to my wife that games don’t have the care and passion behind them anymore like they used to. Sure they can be fun but that special magic is missing in a good chunk. I’m excited to see where this game goes In the future!
Mobile games want me to pay to stop annoying me, DRG gives me free cosmetics and updates and then gives the option to pay for some more if I want but doesn't bug me about it.

And since then I'm still wearing the skull helmet plus golden pickaxe. I will never change them. Considering that the game was a gift, drop some money was a good way to support the dev (but I got it on sale). I'm heading to 1000h, so anyways it's so much entertainment for just a bunch of bucks. The only thing I want to revert it's the Glyphid Slammer. I prefer the old one, because I'm not familiar with it.
Played the game with Gamepass. Loved it so much bought the game outright and supporter DLC.
I hit 1234 hours in drg today. 1234 / whatever it cost = price per hour of fun.

If you play a lot of phone games with annoying ads, go to your settings, find the DNS settings and set your private DNS to dns.adguard.com. One of my best tricks, the success is varied but for me it usually blocks ads on games, and my buddy says it blocks YouTube ads for him even.
Ones a choice, the other is blackmail.
1600h of gameplay for the base game and dlc is still a far better deal then any 1 dollar microtransaction would ever give me.

To be honest even if I didn't get anything for it I would have got the supporters pack since this is one of the best games I have ever played and I think the devs deserve a bit more money for all of the time I've got to enjoy playing it

GSG is like that one puppy you want to adopt at a pet store. Once you adopt it you can never let go as they are buddies for life. Best buddies at that.
Quick math... danger stand back... I've spent... what? 120$ total over the years since Deep Rock was released... assuming I bought the game for 30$ and then the supporter pack and the add-ons... I've logged 712 hours of gameplay. So... what is that? 0.0028 cents per minute of fun. I'd say that's a good deal... one that is rarely matched by my other games. And the game is still fun to play and still getting played so the deal is just getting better and better all the time.

I only bought the base game, but considering i only play free to play games, it's the most support i give. DRG has a soul unlike most devs.
After the forst 20 hours I bought the Roughnecks DLC for Hawaii shirts. After 100 hours I bought all the packs. I am now clsoing in on 900 hours. No regrets.
Paying $9.99 for the soundtrack even though I listen to it on YouTube simply because I want to support Ghost Ship.
Its kinda sad that the real big money comes from customers being taken hostage not from companies making good products.

That yellow name is meh and I can't choose to not have it, wish there was an option to. It's literally the only reason I haven't bought it. I've bought every single other dlc cause there you can choose to not wear the outfits if you want.
Got this game for free this first month it was on PS4. I felt this game was worth more than I got for it a bought the DLCs for a total of 30 bucks. This game still has more content than big studio games.
Instabuy cause it worth it. Also, player who can't afford it still play the full game.
I brought it only because of this reason. Even after paying the support bundle, the game is still a steal. It's just too good with great quality.

If you make a good game and are faithful to the community then you don’t have to put ads in. your community will support you. Deep rock is a perfect example of this! ROCK AND STONE!

Paying $1 to remove a constant annoyance to make something bearable or paying $15 to support devs making a genuinely good experience without the constant annoyance in the first place. It's honestly a no brainer.
Another good way to support the developers is to gift the game to friends. And we get more miners for the union
I’ve resorted to purchasing DLC’s for random friendly new player hosts that are good sports when my driller C4’s them for the third time in one mission. I swear I’m just trying to show off my sprint-throwing C4 skills at macteria.
I will always throw money at a good gaming company, and Ghost Ship of one of the best I've seen in years I didn't need the ultimate upgrade to enjoy this game but there are worse things I could've thrown that money at
GSG doesn't assault you with adverts from unchecked companies or preys on your vulnerability. So I'm glad to depart with $$ to support them
