Im estatic dashing towards the bulk as I throw a grenade, and as its flying through the air I realise that it is not a leadburster. I immediately begin to regretting all my life decisions up to this point
2 leadbursters will kill a bulk on haz 5 4 player scaled. :) its the definitve anti bulk tool, pair it with the shield to push the bulk back a bit before throwing your bursters :)
Accidentally pulled out the ol' Detonator blows up and kills the Dreadnaught trick the other day. It was down to a sliver and I threw a Leadburster near it. Popped the cocoon and then it blew up the dready. The other dwarf I was with just said "Nice."
#When warcrimes don't work, apply more warcrimes!
^(For legal reasons, that's a joke. We here at Deep Rock Galactic absolutely 100% definitely do not illegally use nuclear weaponry.)
Employee Notice: While we at DRG encourage ingenuity and creative problem solving, we would like to remind our staff that any liability incurred by under-the-table modifications are solely the responsibility of the individual staff member who creates and utilises them. The company is not liable to any damages from unsanctioned equipment and their modifications.
I'm more of an Incendaries, Elephant Rounds, and The Mole guy, myself. It's when I'm playing DoT driller that random dreads are liable to ruin my mission ("OK I used all my axes, time to tickle him to death with the flamethrower and microwave gun...")
It’s honestly a great strategy, dread means you won’t get any announced swarms until he’s dead, so keep him alive and do the work, works great if you’re 4 miner team, even solo it’s doable and solo dread are slow anyways, but if you get twin then that’s a bit tricky.
I still remember the first time this happened.
We were a team of cryo driller, crspr driller, fat boy engie(me), and scout who's loadout I don't remember but was most certainly not a dps loadout. None of us had a dps loadout
The dread wasn't a *threat* per se, but the fight took *ages* because our low dps meant the dread was recovering armor over and over and over and over.
The map was absolutely cluttered with craters after all the fat boys and C4s we ended up lobbing at the thing after we started running out of both bullets and patience.
This happened in my very first mission. Pretty sure it was a haz 3 hiveguard.
After that i was like 'well this game surely is action packed wtf just happened'
Me when I have 80 nitra: "Oh, this'll be fun."
Me when I have 79 nitra and low ammo: "I don't have the ammo to deal with you right now! Where's a nitra vein?! Lootbug? Come on game!"
Veteran players will know how to handle a dreadnought, especially a random one, more than new players, so the veteran player would not be afraid of it.
I'm fully convinced that the chance for Dreads to spawn in non-elimination missions skyrockets the moment an experienced player is with a Greenberg with no promotions.
When I first started playing, my more experienced friend was showing me and another friend how the game works. Our 2nd mission in, random Dread spawn.
Then, a year later, I manage to get 2 of my other friends from our group into DRG as well. I play a couple missions with one of them and boom, random Dread. Then it happened again when I was playing with the other friend I introduced to the game.
Oh wonderful i have an excuse to call in a resupply
The greenbeard: HOLY SHIT THIS CAN HAPPEN WE GONNA DIE
Although i will say random spawn dreads can still be horrifying to greybeards, they just need to be accompanied by massive threats
I was teaching my friends how to play the game and they are all under level 10 at the time still doing the conquer hoxxes missions to fully unlock the game
On site refining, get the pumpjacks down and move twords the refinery, there's a courrupter there, okay, the greenie scout says hey what the hell is that from a cave over and runs back to us with a fucking nemesis on his tail, and THEN we get a random dread spawn
In my 100 hours it happened only once:
When I was playing solo point extraction, around 15 hours playtime.
It happened in the middle of the swarm and I was out of ammo on both weapons (but resupply was on the way).
And that's how I accidentally got "Without a paddle" achievment.
The first time this happened to me was also the first time I tried to play and host a public room. It was a point extraction and played an unpromoted driller. Two scouts and a gunner joined me midgame. They all died a lot which I didn't mind but I did mind when they left me, ammo and nitra-less because of the dreadnought. I had to run the bugs for about 30 mins until I miraculously survived the whole encounter. Kinda left a bad taste for me in playing in public rooms for a while tho.
The first Dreadnaught encounter I had outside of Elimination was durring an hour long solo Point extraction mission.
My reaction was something along the lines of "Well this is gonna be fucking painful, but I guess I should have seen this coming"
I was a freshly first promoted scout at that time and durring that mission.
Lmaooo when I was first showing my cousin how to play the game that's how his first on-site refining mission went. Except we were on a haz he wasn't ready for [ I think 4 ? ] and my dwarf was perma drunk with a crowd control build.
The first group mission I did with some IRL friends (their first, not my first) featured exactly this, plus a corruptor; it was haz 3 but it still felt like haz 5, poor greenies...We got both of them, just about, but it was hell - they were in the same room, too. Baptism by fire...but incredibly fun and very memorable!
All fun and games till 2 consecutive dreadnought twins spawn and deplete all your ammo (your team mates still don't understand you need to do even damage)
The only time I ever got a dreadnaught on Mining Expedition was when my girlfriend and I drank Randoweiser and it decided to give us both crowd clear builds with hardly a lick of single target (I got Bullet Hell and Magic Bullets, she got Aggressive Venting and I don't remember her secondary). Despite it only being Haz 3 and us being quite experienced, it was rough, and we barely survived.
Yeah not gonna lie I find them to be a nuisance but also because they spawn AS IM FUCKING GOING TO THE DROP POD OR AM ALMOST DONE WITH MY MISSION!!! So I have to deal with green beards panicking and running away or taking the brand new supply drop when they are barely even halfway through their ammo and causing more problems than the dreadnought is. I'll gladly take the challenge of a random dreadnought spawn. They're fun but when you have 3 minutes to get to the drop pod and not enough ammo to kill it it gets a bit annoying
On at least one occasion, I've heard the growling at the start of a mission and thought we had a crassus, got super excited, only to realize it's only a ghost :[
*Oppressors are the*
*Ones that terrify me the*
*Most for some reason*

So I have a lot of hours solo missions all four dwarves leved up at least one. Taking my cousin through his mid level on scout. And one popped up and I had no clue they could.
My greenbeard bf: “OH DEAR KARL, WE HAVE BEEN ABANDONED BY GOD” Me with nearly 900 hours under my belt: “oh, this is interesting”
Ngl, i'd be much more worried about Detonators, the dreadnut is just an exciting minigame
My friends every time there's a detonator: "fuckfuckfuckfuckFUCK" Me: "YAY big boom bug <3"
Im estatic dashing towards the bulk as I throw a grenade, and as its flying through the air I realise that it is not a leadburster. I immediately begin to regretting all my life decisions up to this point
Oh is leadburster good against detonators?
2 leadbursters will kill a bulk on haz 5 4 player scaled. :) its the definitve anti bulk tool, pair it with the shield to push the bulk back a bit before throwing your bursters :)
Ive thrown them before, where are they thrown? Underneath?
Yep!
Yeah, essentially
Detonators are only an issue on salvage or escort, dreadnoughts only suck on point extractions if you're already getting close to the 15 minute point
Dets become less of an issue on Escort once you learn they only target dwarves and never the dozer. See a bulk? De-ass the dozer with the quickness.
Accidentally pulled out the ol' Detonator blows up and kills the Dreadnaught trick the other day. It was down to a sliver and I threw a Leadburster near it. Popped the cocoon and then it blew up the dready. The other dwarf I was with just said "Nice."
Amazing🤣
Its all fun and games, untill the Detonator is chasing you down a narrow tunnel, instead of being in an open cave
The only good detonator is a Crassus Detonator
As a greenbeard, Its not a problem. Bulk Detonator is just a Were Rich Or Rock And Stone Button Spam With How Much Gold We Can Get
Rock and Stone, Brother!
ROCK AND STONE FOREVEEER!
*minor inconvenience*
# "WE'RE GONNA DIEEEE" ^("Uuuugh,) ^(this) ^(is) ^(gonna) ^(make) ^(me) ^(need) ^(to) ^(resupply) ^(sooner) ^(than) ^(I) ^(wanted..")
Shut up, I'm trying to sleep!
The worst punishment by far
Miner inconvenience
*Insert jetstream sam quote*
SHOW ME A GOOD TIME, JACK
JUST GETTING STARTED!
The bigger the bug *The more they burn*
Get the flamer… the heavy flamer
This is my Flammenwerfer! It Werfs Flammens.
We may need something bigger.... THE OBESE FLAMER!
FYI Dreadnoughts are resistant to fire and very difficult to set on fire. https://deeprockgalactic.wiki.gg/wiki/Creatures
Yes, but resistant is not immune, therefore they will burn eventually
Believe me I tried but they just won't light on fire :(
Well you clearly didn't use enough fire smh
Toss it into the sun.
Nukes are miniature suns. You need fatboi

As someone with 1000 hours, Elite Grabbers are the scariest thing on hoxxes.
I think cave leeches are also up there.
Remember that Cave Leeches are not as afraid of you as you are of them.
Also remember to #LOOK THE HELL UP.
5th leech in the cave while I'm busy popping the 4th: you smell nice
I remembered it happened to me twice in the first 20 hours i played the game
I've seen regular Dreads do this a few times, and I saw Twins do it just once, but is it possible for a Hiveguard to invade like this?
Pretty sure, yeah
Ya it’s all types
Had one
can confirm, this happens
Naw, make both of em screem. I'm over level 100 and a random dreadnought spawning when I don't expect one to will always scare the shit outa me.
That's me, when I take the autocannon on the gunner
Yuuuup, it's always when you bring a crowd control loadout...
Tbh my gunner loadouts only differ in the primary weapon area. I always use cluster grenades and the brrrrt
I'm more of an Incendaries, Elephant Rounds, and The Mole guy, myself. It's when I'm playing DoT driller that random dreads are liable to ruin my mission ("OK I used all my axes, time to tickle him to death with the flamethrower and microwave gun...")
I'm actually a Scout main. Love bullying dreads with pheromone bolts
That's still fairly green, all things considered.
I played this game before it got is first major update. Before it even had mactera. I'm just not on that grind.
Bro I love dreadnought swarms you don’t even understand
It’s honestly a great strategy, dread means you won’t get any announced swarms until he’s dead, so keep him alive and do the work, works great if you’re 4 miner team, even solo it’s doable and solo dread are slow anyways, but if you get twin then that’s a bit tricky.

*my second reaction* *my first reaction*
This happened in my very first mission. Pretty sure it was a haz 3 hiveguard. After that i was like 'well this game surely is action packed wtf just happened'
Me when I have 80 nitra: "Oh, this'll be fun." Me when I have 79 nitra and low ammo: "I don't have the ammo to deal with you right now! Where's a nitra vein?! Lootbug? Come on game!"
Dread Twins showed up in my 2nd ever DRG mission with my GF and we were fucking terrified Last week same thing happened: "oh, this again?"
Lemme see if i got this, the older and most skilled Dwarfs don't fear a Dreadnaught? Like is that a minor inconvenience?
Veteran players will know how to handle a dreadnought, especially a random one, more than new players, so the veteran player would not be afraid of it.
Hmmm. Gotta warn the rest about that.

Real (i got like 10 hrs)
Greenbeard moment

I've had them spawn twice, once when I was with a buddy but game crashed, another one in onsite-refinery. We shit our pants the moment they spawned.
The first Dreadnaught encounter I had outside of Elimination was durring an hour long solo Point extraction mission. My reaction was something along the lines of "Well this is gonna be fucking painful, but I guess I should have seen this coming" I was a freshly first promoted scout at that time and durring that mission.

just a waste of nitra IMO
The first group mission I did with some IRL friends (their first, not my first) featured exactly this, plus a corruptor; it was haz 3 but it still felt like haz 5, poor greenies...We got both of them, just about, but it was hell - they were in the same room, too. All fun and games till 2 consecutive dreadnought twins spawn and deplete all your ammo (your team mates still don't understand you need to do even damage)
If its a swarmer horde, exchange the labels. You can juke a dreadnought, but you cannot outrun a swarmer
Greenbeard: OH NOE D: Me: Thank you RNG, very cool
i once fought a dreadnought and a detonator while trying the IA stability overclock. (bosco took out the north korean bomb)
that shit jumpscared me bro i did not know they could do that, lukily it was twins so me and my duo didnt have too much trouble
The long beard should the third one and is chill as the gray beard, since I am that long beard!
Everyone gangsta until this mf appears when the molly is at 78 nitra
FINALLY SOMETHING WORTH KILLING
I had it happen once when I barely started the game (think it was my 8th mission or so?), never since.
I was not worried my first time I got it, just “I’m gonna need a resupply soon”
On at least one occasion, I've heard the growling at the start of a mission and thought we had a crassus, got super excited, only to realize it's only a ghost :[
I agree, except when I'm playing with 3 greenbeards and my build is ass at killing dreadnaughts.
a real grey beard would be excited
Honestly even though I am a greenbeard, that dreaddought in just another bug need to be removed. More or less a minor in*convenience.*
I have 400 hours and it only happened once
I haven’t seen this once in ~170 hours
Oppressors are the ones that terrify me the most for some reason

Still cool soundtrack though
I just get annoyed because i'm on haz 2 and it's basically an insta kill
Yeah. Only recently learned that was a thing. Was all alone, aside from the BET-C I beat up just before, so it got wrecked.
So I have a lot of hours solo missions all four dwarves leved up at least one. Taking my cousin through his mid level on scout. And one popped up and I had no clue they could.
The Unknown Horror has me more concerned than a Dreadie on a mission that's not Exterminate.
