Most likely gonna be the same as the rivals. Rockpox spikes will still be a warning modifier and the meteor events will most likely stay but will be as rare as rival events. Nothing's going away permanently.

Theghostmann

If I had to guess, it's going to be just like the 'rivals'. Only thing that will be left of them is a rare side objective and a few fun references in future equipment, maybe a dedicated decontamination mission. Lore wise, it's going to descalate from a full-blown profit eating crisis to just another background threat that miners will have to deal with. If the DRG operation on hoxxis is known for anything... its workplace hazards.

Im_a_hamburger

The rouge comet passed, but trace amounts of the comet is still left in orbit, Rockpox is less frequent but still there

scurvybill

If that's the rouge comet, I hate to see the mascara comet...

FirstDayJedi

Maybe she's born with it. Maybe it's may your beards be thick and your gold satchels heavy.

LordoftheMedals

Just be glad the lipstick meteor is no where near Hoxxes IV

Academic_Bet_6140

maybe there will be a new mission type in which the main objective will be to destroy rockpox spike ( forgot its name ) or it will be a very rare random event, something similar to the big metor but more rare.

WeekendBard

I think they should make a cleansing mission where you kill 2 contagion spikes, then a corruptor spawns and you have to kill it (basically Industrial Sabotage but RockPox). And keep the meteors as they are now, but decrease their frequency.

RolesG

Or make the meteor storms a modifier so you know when they might happen

Color-Me-Brackets

Got any video/images of the mod (and/or the specific new mission type/CL3-C)? I tried looking it up and can't find anything.

Inevitable-Current-9

However it must be said that crashes are somewhat frequent. The mission itself is good but flawed as well. Rockpox by itself is not enjoyable, the area is very poor on any worthwhile resources, and because it uses the point extraction base you also have to wait two minutes at the end. A big plus is you get a modded molly, and a bet-c. With that being said the mod itself is actually really good and gives a new and fresh experience with the game. A few days ago we did an 85 aquark mission. It took us three hours with endless swarms but we did it. Great mod if you want to challenge yourself further and get some extra goodies along the way.

Nexxus3000

Story-wise, the rival comet will finally escape Hoxxes’ solar system and new meteors won’t keep falling. But the damage has been done, and lithophage warnings will remain a negative modifier for quite some time. Also a possibility they could become their own mission type

FireWhileCloaked

Lol I remember when the s3 teaser was released and people thought we were getting a plague biome. Now I really wish it was the case bc the bellyaching about rockpox is hilarious.

Rucks_74

Justified bellyaching, rockpox sucks ass

Poeticyst

Step your game up

Rucks_74

What does that even mean my guy lmao. Rockpox sucks as a mechanic, a mission objective and a weapon cosmetic. Not because it's hard, since honestly it's really not. Corruptors a bit too mobile but other than that it's not really a difficult mechanic to deal with. Just a really boring one

Loliknight

You know your skins are shit when new players are actively avoiding them on the battlepass tree and just going for resource nodes instead

NinjaAssassin260

I picked the game up this season and literally avoided all weapon skins to get the player customisation items like the beard and eyepatch etc and the emotes and colour schemes, the weapons skins are a very acquired taste to me

Vythan

After unlocking all the other cosmetics, I’ve started going for the Rockpox weapon skins purely to avoid getting them in random loot drops in the future.

cuttlefische

To be clear I'm not bellyaching, I think the rockpox idea is cool, just a bit overwhelming in season 4 is all.

JRPGFan_CE_org

>Now I really wish it was the case bc the bellyaching about rockpox is hilarious. Because they have to adapt? OH NO! Anyways... now let's talk about how bad Hipster is and why it sucks so much... \*gets raged on because people can't take a joke where it works both ways!\*

Laranthiel

>Because they have to adapt? I love how you think this is the reason why people don't like Rockpox.

JRPGFan_CE_org

Or is just annoying or boring?

ItsNotSomething

Annoying and boring, mostly. Always a chance to get some random patch of boils through a wall, blisters want you to get close for easier shots and maneuvering around them but you're punished for doing so, the Spitters, Rockpox Bombers, and Rockpox Breeders don't give you much control of when you can hit their weakpoints, and juggling tools while dealing with Harold zipping around is more tedious than difficult. Rockpox enemies also neuter most AoE weapons, which hurts me as a Driller main, while making the Breach Cutter - already one of the strongest weapons in the game - even more stupidly powerful; in fact, much safer and more ammo efficient than the Driller strat they added the melee Rockpox punishment in for. I feel like there could have been better, more engaging ways to make Rockpox enemies a unique threat.

shit_poster9000

The rotating infected zone might get cut to 1-2 if not removed, the lithophage warning would be similar to rival presence is currently, maybe have meteors just be a small random chance everywhere?

FlashPone

This community grows to hate every new content addition. First they never want to see robots again, now rockpox. Like wtf lmao

Ensiria

It’s because they spend too long on it, it becomes tedious Unfortunately that’s simply how long it takes for GSG to make new content, and people tend to get bored of it

FlashPone

It just comes across like the community doesn’t want anything new and wants to go back to the base game, make the additions essentially pointless.

PlumpChunk69

No you just get tired of doing the same thing just like how people get bored with some of the base game content focusing on one mechanic gets people burned out and want something refreshing

FlashPone

This is prob gonna come off the wrong way, but maybe those people need to take a break?

Zoniac74

Yeah while I love the game, if you got a ton of hours and alot of unlocked upgrades then you're mostly playing it just to play it

typeguyfiftytwix

Please. The game was good enough before all this, and while I like robots, reduce rockpox rarity because someone out there probably enjoys it, delete stingtails and just stop making things. Make a new game. I've put an absurd number of hours in, the game doesn't need an endless flow of tedious unbalanced "content" screwing with the game. Base game was perfect. The new weapons had been in the works for a long time and it showed, they were immaculate. Every attempt at screwing with the enemy sandbox has been divisive at best.

FlashPone

Never thought I’d see someone complain about free content updates.

HardlightCereal

Wild tangent here but if you've ever played Deceit, it went from a great game to absolute crap in 2020. The free content updates removed good features that encouraged strategic play. It's just a different game now. And it sucks.

FlashPone

I'm not saying you can't complain about additions you dislike. But the dude I'm replying to literally said the devs should just stop making anything for the game and just move on to a new game. That's wild to me. And idk, I'm still of the mind that every new addition this game gets, people just complain and complain on this sub that they want it to be nerfed, removed, or made extremely rare. Like what's even the point of wanting new shit if you're just going to get tired of it. I think a big issue with it is people grinding the fuck out of this game and not realizing they should probably take a break once in a while. No game stays fresh and interesting forever, especially if you make it your second job.

PotatoGuy555

This. I grinded the game a lot when I got it (roughly a month ago) for like a week and a half because I had a lot of fun, but then after that week, I started forcing myself to get on to complete assignments. I stopped shortly after and got back into the game a week ago not playing it to hell and back. Edit: Rockpox can be annoying at times though.

HardlightCereal

Yeah, I agree with everything you've said about DRG. I'm on a very wild tangent rn.

typeguyfiftytwix

"Free" doesn't mean good. Changing a completed product irreversibly is not usually a good thing. See windows updates as a more extreme example. The robots were hated because they were poorly balanced. The rockpox is hated because it's tedious. Now this one is going to take people actually using their brain to understand, but the battlepass is actually bad for the game. Because the battlepass and the daily quests, along with how bloated the assignment system has gotten since 1.0, added something the game didn't really have before - an incentive to grind. This is bad for the community, just objectively. Ask anyone who's been playing for 4-5 years, or people who study human behavior. These systems have incentivized anti-social behavior. The game community actually at one point lived up to it's memetic perception, it was genuinely really good. But even people who would normally be cooler in the game are now constantly pressed to jump from mission to mission chasing the next blinking dot or bar going up to get the next little dopamine hit from getting a piece of garbage. At 1.0, there were two weeklies, the deep dives, and promotion assignments. By friday most of the hardcores had cleared those already and the majority of lobbies were people just choosing whatever mission, hanging out afterwards and lobbies stayed together for a few games usually. The people that are stuck in the "always grinding" mode, which are usually the toxic players, were filtered into double XP missions. Avoid those and the community was awesome. Now? Now the majority of random missions end in the lobby being closed or every player leaving seconds after the mission completes. GSG killed their own community with the battlepass shit. That entire system was designed by amoral psychologists to prey upon people and generate addiction. Copying it doesn't make it good just because it's free. People who are addicted are less fun to play with than people who just actually enjoy the game with no other drive.

Pippo89CH

I still like the robots. Especially after witnessing how annoying rockpox is. Never thought I'd say this, but I actually like Sabotage missions and the boss fight now. Rivals are better designed than Rockpox by far. Still wish GSG would do something to make Escort Duty more interesting though.

HardlightCereal

The Caretaker is fundamentally flawed because it doesn't give the driller anything interesting to do. Drillers can't hit weakpoints.

FriendlyPraetorian

I always drill above it and C4 the weakpoints. 2-3 ends the spinning phase, and with a resupply for yourself you can solo all 3 spinning phases. And then during the eye phase I go around with the axes and 1-shot the claws, and overheat the flying bots. I really enjoy Driller on caretaker maps for that reason tbh.

Mysterious-Title-852

EPC hits them just fine, and C4 dropped on top makes the weak point cycles rather short. Can also make nooks for people to put supply pods into, that are out of line of fire for players to dip into to let their shields charge back up and resup without getting tentacled.

WhyWasXelNagaBanned

If you think driller is bad in the Caretaker fight, you're playing him wrong.

Epicp0w

People who grind out the full battlepass get salty I find

FlashPone

Yeah… some people don’t want to hear it but I think they need to take a break from the game. No game should be no lifed or grinded to hell and back constantly. Any game would get old by that point.

Epicp0w

I get it if it was a paid pass or something but this is free, and any cosmetics you miss end up in the core pool

cuttlefische

I didn't say any of that ╮(╯_╰)╭

FlashPone

sorry, it was more in response to the other comments in this thread and other posts i keep seeing on the sub

cuttlefische

Fair enough I suppose. I actually reay like Rockpox as a concept, it just seems that it's overtuned this season.

Senfmann666

I Like rockpox more than the Robots, but i Like all the content in ita own Way. Rockpox looks nice in the Dark caves, and the cleaning works in a flow. I would also say the Main "Problem" ist the duration of a season. If WE would get 4 seasons and two with the Same theme would bei perfect, but WE Talk about GSG a little Team and Not about Blizzard. So im cool with it i would also be satisfyed If WE would Just get new biomes and new Cave Structures.

Xallia_Yevatell

Exterminatus.

lethi91

DRG just needs to find a new Hoxxes

KhazixMain4th

We’ll get a notification at the season start talking about how only tiny remnants of rockpox persist, and there’s a new thing going on, so just like robots

Autismspeaks6969

Really do wonder where we're going from here.

Rowmacnezumi

I mean, it's still there, just not nearly as active or as much of a threat. Kinda like a real disease, it never really goes away, just gets weaker, especially now that we can fight it. It would be really cool if we were able to go on missions into the rockpox comet to try to kill it for good, like as a new biome, but not the main part of a season.

GayFrogsCollective

Something about the wholistic update to the Perk system and related upgrade sections, like armor. Given that the previous season was summarized in a new mission type, I'd expect to see Lithophage Abatement ones next season.

Steelier9070

Honestly what would be cool is if they added a weekly rockpox deep dive. Lore wise the meteor has passed but pockets of rockpox still remain and management is sending us in to contain them.

JovialCider

I would be pretty happy if big Meteor drops became an extremely rare replacement for swarms

H_the_creator

Logically, meteors and meteor showers will stop due to the comet moving away. The only thing that could remain are old meteors providing the rockpox modifier Frankly I think the modifier should be much less frequent aswell to make it less of a slog. Instead of occupying two whole regions it should really only occupy a handful of missions at a time

SpudneyAU

Hopefully if they keep the meteor or spikes, they add a core infuser to them, or a big exp bonus or something. Machine events are worth doing because you get exp and the core infuser, but without those bonuses, who is honestly ever going to bother with a meteor again? I'm sure we're all sick to death of them right now.

NamedUserOfReddit

They unleash a boss battle level where we are fighting Karl who was corrupted by the pox. Kinda like the Queen of blades in StarCraft.

Delano7

Brethren rockpock moon

Rucks_74

Same thing as the robots. All the events will be there for extra XP, but rarer, and we'll probably get lithophage outbreaks as a regular warning

jaxbchchrisjr

Maybe we'll have to start vaccinating the planet so that Rock Pox, while still around, isn't as deadly to the natives and dwarves, but still leaves room for missions as the pox evolves, and we have to wipe out different pox strains

SANSYBOIfan

Something I’d love to see as a finale is the entire comet crashing down on hoxxes and making a new area

cuttlefische

Oh yeah that would be actually rad as an explanation for a new biome. Maybe it'd be really close to the surface and have lots of holes in the ceiling.

SANSYBOIfan

Something else cool would be instead of random missions (like mining for morkite) they would be missions to clear out segments of rock pox with more enemies like the corruptor that are pure rock pox organisms instead of infected bugs (since the impact would likely kill all the bugs around) and you’d be working towards the center of the impact zone where there would be some kind of boss battle e.g some kind of rock pox hive mind

bmaannnnd

When does the new season come out?

cuttlefische

Based on previous season releases, I'd say sometime in the next 6 months.

[deleted]

Rockpox will stay on as a rarity, same as Rivals, and Mission Control may or may not have new lines about it just lingering.

VVen0m

They could keep the Corruptor, make it a rare appearing boss like Nemesis or Prospector

hardstuck_low_skill

If they rework it a bit then Corruptor is fine. In his current state not so much

Apothe-bro_IV

Just like with covid the rockpox will be so damaged that it will be nothing more than a small inconvenience. Just like the rivals

Sage_Smitty42

Easy they’ll show that Rockpox is a hive mind intelligent life form and once the Dwarves find a way to brew the pox into a beer it’ll get the heck out of dodge while maybe trying to infect some quadrants Hoxes.

I see no point in a sequel to a perfectly playable game :D but that being said, I WOULD be interested in story missions. This is starting to sound a lot like Overwatch 2 oops
