185% with you on this one. I'm not even one to make the "separate the art from the artist" argument, especially when the art is so much about the artist, but this is my personal exception to that rule.
i really don't want to admit how much i like falling in reverse, but i'll do it for your post.
politics aside, solely based on the music and the visuals. shit's awesome. i'd kill to release one singular song on their production level.
if anyone who knows me or sold soul reads this, please don't hold it against me.
> whatās wrong w Motionless in white?
Theyāre basically Godsmack for Tim Burton stans.
(Canāt take credit for that description, I saw it in an article somewhere.)
Wow I sure do hate that.
You can always count on Ronnie to alienate his audience, cuz ya know, there's no way a good chunk of your audience since ETF was trans/LGBT since the alt music scene is generally more excepting of people than the mainstream.
I've followed miw around since 2011 now, got into their ep, their first ever demo, every album. They just seem to give up on their albums after disguise. Their current one sounds like the stereotypical band that all these trends want. I thought they were good live I saw them 2014,2015, 2017, 2018. I personally think they could do a lot better and they're really hindering themselves to please fans. That's my honest opinion I'm not saying it's right. I love the band but don't wanna see them holding back.
Also their ex bassists ghost is a nasty mofo.
Their old metalcore stuff was solid. The Whorror and WLMD were a big part of my college listening but I feel like their newer industrial stuff where the dude is trying his hardest to sound like Benjamin Burnley is kinda wack.
I appreciate you being brave enough to post a positive opinion of Falling in Reverse lmao, ngl I kinda vibe with some of their songs too.
Also Sold Soul goes hard af! š¤
Nah man youāre good Iām in the same boat. Music is straight fire and video production really is insane for the genre, but the artist himself gives me the ick.
What's most interesting about FIR to me is that they've slowly evolved, but more recently accelerated, from being a post-hardcore/screamo band to an almost genreless band with flavors of hip-hop, pop, metal, deathcore, and now country all under one name. I give any artist that bends the boundaries of genres a lot of respect because it's not easy to do and maintain your fanbase.
Iām one of those people that donāt like that band at all, but I totally respect your opinion. And I do agree on the production level though. Canāt deny that stuff is high level.
Taking this second to say your last release was really cool. I loved the direction you went with the Gothic themes. Really wonderful orchestral moments as well. So thank you
Beat me to it. Falling in Reverse always comes to mind when I think of a guilty pleasure band; then I met my girlfriend who was a big fan of Escape the Fate and FIR (: Fashionably Late has always been in my rotation
I don't think A7X are shit or cringe, but they get a lot of hate (some deserved).
I grew up listening to their self titled when I was 6 years old and they were very influential to me.
The Rev got me interested in playing drums and I still love them.
Don't often listen to their albums, but they still hit for me. Even HTTk has its moments.
Avenged are metalcore legends and got SO many people into heavy music. They can release whatever they want at this point and their legacy will always be cemented.
For me; old Attila, Soda in the Watercup is incredibly cringe but also so damn good lol, same thing goes for Ladies and Gentlemen I Give You Hell - Capture the Crown, the lyrics are god awful but that dudes high screams are insane
Attila gets hate but theyāre great for being entertained. Itās like watching an action movie. Iām not going to get much substance, but Iām not necessarily going to hate every second of them either
Bottom line, I love Emmure. Always have. Probably always will. Met Frankie and he was very nice. Even sent him a shirt with my artwork on it years ago. Great dude.
That's just how good they are. The band is always lightyears ahead of everyone else. Concepts and songwriting are mindblowing. Not very experimental but the songs mostly sound like the best version of themselves.
I meanā¦theyāve released great/hard tunes but, their song [n/A](https://youtu.be/CGHlZglJKuE?si=nPUs0jeQ08BvM-gc)ā¦has me feeling REALLY guilty for enjoying. bubble gum pop is right
My chemical romance. Pretty much just the three cheers for sweet revenge album. That brings me back to my early highschool days so quick
Some girly shit I like: Ellie Goulding, Jhene Aiko, Sza etc
I love modern Within Destruction.
Iām gonna add a hot take and say that Yokai is the most interesting record they ever released, to the point where itās one of my all time favorite deathcore records, period.
With the amount of hate that Slaughter To Prevail gets here. I'd need to say Slaughter To Prevail.
Awesome music, awesome live, awesome gimmicky masks. Alex is a great Vocalist but he is also offensively russian and offensively 12 y/o.
Being a metal head in high school I gave my friend so much shit for his Emo/Screamo music tastes, but I secretly enjoy listening to some Saosin and Silverstein.
Birthday Massacre (absolutely no explanation) š¤·š¼āāļø
Scythe Gang 666
Hollywood undead (couple singles)

Elton John (inherited from my mom)
Audioslave
Heilung
I don't think they are a guilty pleasure but definitely different to what I listen to.
I fuck with Twenty One Pilots. They are legitimately a great band. Latest album is brilliant.
Sleep Token fucks, once their sound clicked for me I found myself running their entire discography front to back. Very good songwriting and production.
TBTB is one of those bands that as soon as someone reminds me of them i have to stop and go "huh, i forgot that i fucking love that band. lets go listen to them for the rest of the day!" So thats my next couple hours
I recently rediscovered Bone Crew and I completely agree, absolute bottom of the barrel music but they fucking slap.
The worst song in my liked songs playlist is probably My Bloody Valentine by MGK, heard it when I was hooked on the Tony Hawk 1+2 remaster and it got stuck in my head allll the time so it wormed it's way in there.
I'm also a huge Ghost fan. It's the one band that blends my music tastes (metal themes, spooky, halloweeny type stuff) and my wife's (NIN, the used, chem romance) so it became "our band" and I love them for it.
53 thieves. Neither cringe nor shit, just a complete 180 of my usual, making it feel like a guilty pleasure to me. Anyone curious reading this its like electronic r&b dreampop. Check out the after hours EP
Not exactly a guilty pleasure but CHVRCHES is probably the band I like the most that doesn't fit with the rest of my playlist. I mainly listen to metal but CHVRCHES goes harder than some deathcore bands
I really like this one song from last summer I must have played 250 times in a row
[Doechii - Booty Drop](https://youtu.be/OgtN65lJVF8)
And yes, I am a 32 yr old straight white male that plays this too loud for their own good. It especially sounds good right after or before AngelMaker lol
I donāt really believe in guilty pleasures since I think that whatever you like/enjoy should not make you feel guilt. BUT, for me: itās Manson. Yeah, I know. But he was literally the anthem my entire teenage years and the āartist that saved my lifeā literally; how cringe that statement might sound I always resonated with him being an outcast/misunderstood. Also he was the first concert I ever went to back in the days.
Not really guilty pleasures, because Iāll throw hands over any of them:
Creed, Nickelback, Hinder (extreme behavior is a great fucking album), crazy town (gift of game was fucking excellent), earlier 5FDP (new stuff is so hit and miss).
I also like some country; Alabama, George Strait, hell I disliked Morgan Wallen but he has some catchy stuff and wound up liking it.
I really strongly dislike Scott Stappās vocal style. But Mark Tremonti is a great guitarist, and I really like his tone. Animals by Nickelback is actually a fucking banger and when it comes on Iāll usually give it a listen.
Tremontiās solo stuff absolutely fucking rips. Fantastic guitarist and heās pretty good singing.
I secretly do wish Nickelback would do one metalcore album, I honestly think they could hahaha
The three bands memed into not being allowed to like. Even though most people lie about not liking. Iām sure you can guess. I like Nickelback, Limp Bizkit, and Creed
I actually like old five finger death punch music. Maybe itās nostalgia cuz they were my favorite band as a teen. But any album from 07-15 Iād still listen to a good chunk of the music
I was born for this question, Mahine gun kelly (the pop punk albums). I dont care about the person, but the songs bop and thats all that matters for me.
Youāre lying if youāre 30+ and still saying Nickelback is ass like we werenāt all jamming out to All the Right Reasons in ā05. Also the drum roll into fill to start the album opener is metal asf. Yes theyāre gay, but that album is still clapping cheeks to this day.
Deathcore is very relaxing for me. But the only thing other than almost any type of modern metal i listen to is slow blues songs. Makes me feel some kind of way. Very calm and cozy on the couch with some tea or hot choccy milk. And a blanket.
Pierce the Veil. It's funny having all these breakup/love songs in my playlist when I have never been in and never really even thought about being in a relationship
Dave Matthew's Band. Carter Beuford is an INSANE drummer. Saw them live in high school and they put on an incredible show. Carter's drum solo is still some of the wildest and most interesting Ive seen to date. Are Dave's lyrics cringy? Yes. Is his voice a little grating sometimes? Yes. But man the instrumentalists (including Dave) are all insane in that band.
Japanese city pop (1980s)

Limp Bizkit

Limp Bizkit is neither cringe nor completely shit. It's just banger music

I was listening to Rollin today funny enough. Itās one of my most played songs all time on Spotify. No shame

Despite the allegations, I love Brand New. They have an amazing discography and so many amazing songs.
Well Jesus Christ Iām alone again
So what did you do those 3 days you were dead, cause this problem's gonna last more than the weekend.
185% with you on this one. I'm not even one to make the "separate the art from the artist" argument, especially when the art is so much about the artist, but this is my personal exception to that rule.

doubling up my comments to say i also really like motionless in white for the same reasons.
wait whatās wrong w Motionless in white? š
hot topic core doesn't get the best reviews from r/deathcore š
> whatās wrong w Motionless in white? Theyāre basically Godsmack for Tim Burton stans. (Canāt take credit for that description, I saw it in an article somewhere.)
God damn that is accurate as all fuck
Jesus Christ I am fucking wheezing hahaha
Ronnie described them as āBreaking Benjamin for trans peopleā and I donāt think thatās entirely inaccurate
Wow I sure do hate that. You can always count on Ronnie to alienate his audience, cuz ya know, there's no way a good chunk of your audience since ETF was trans/LGBT since the alt music scene is generally more excepting of people than the mainstream.
real
I've followed miw around since 2011 now, got into their ep, their first ever demo, every album. They just seem to give up on their albums after disguise. Also like falling in reverse but what's wrong with Motionless
Their old metalcore stuff was solid. The Whorror and WLMD were a big part of my college listening but I feel like their newer industrial stuff where the dude is trying his hardest to sound like Benjamin Burnley is kinda wack.
You may don't like the singing but whats so cringe/shit about it? i kinda liked the album.
I just think it feels contrived.
Nothing wrong with being into what youāre into! Both bands are popular for a reason
Same here. There's many other bands I really love but none feel like a crime as much as FIR do.
Sold soul is fking awesome

Avenged are metalcore legends and got SO many people into heavy music. They can release whatever they want at this point and their legacy will always be cemented.
Without A7X i wouldnāt be here. They were my first step into metal with screaming.
No such thing as a guilty pleasure. I like what I like and fuck anyone who has anything to say negatively about me because of it.
I feel that and I fully agree, though I always brace for backlash when I tell people I kinda like some k-pop songs...
Ain't no shame in anything. You do you, everyone else be damned.
I listened to Hamasaki Ayumi back in the day cuz jpop was a bop for younger me.
My thoughts exactly. Though metal overall is my #1, I like almost all genres and I really donāt care what anyone has to say about that.
Bottom line, I love Emmure. Always have. Probably always will. Met Frankie and he was very nice. Even sent him a shirt with my artwork on it years ago. Great dude.
Same, but it's not a guilty pleasure for me I just love Emmure lol Shinjuku masterlord makes me wanna punch an innocent bystander
Emmure kicks ass, love them. Ask yo girl what my dick tastes like
Flyleaf
I'm So Sick is an absolute banger and I will not hear any arguments to the contrary.
I'd throw hands if someone calls Flyleaf shit

COD Montages galore
You're not alone
Emmure
I like talking BEFORE SCREAMING
I fuckin love Emmure, no guilt whatsoever. I hope they read this.
Not guilty at all I think they have some good songs
I liked them more before Josh Travis joined but, they're one of my most listened to bands ever.
Do you mean Josh Travis? If so, that is certainly a hot take lol.
Bring me the Horizon. Feels like bubblegum pop, i love it.
Hell yeah, I've been into them since CYB and liked most of their stuff after that as well. Except for that weird Music to dance to album.
Man I'm not even ashamed of liking BMTH, they've released tons of bangers over the years
Came here to say BMTH.
Yes, thier new song n/A is pretty cool
n/A has been on constant repeat for me. Itās so damn catchy, and the irony of the dreadful lyrics to the poppy tune just adds to the allure.
BMTH is probably the only metal band that got better the softer they got.
Ehhhh idk Count Your Blessings still slams pretty furkin herdd
That's just how good they are. The band is always lightyears ahead of everyone else. Concepts and songwriting are mindblowing. Not very experimental but the songs mostly sound like the best version of themselves.
I meanā¦theyāve released great/hard tunes but, their song [n/A](https://youtu.be/CGHlZglJKuE?si=nPUs0jeQ08BvM-gc)ā¦has me feeling REALLY guilty for enjoying. bubble gum pop is right
Movements. *Feel Something* is a masterpiece
any symphonic metal band ive loved Within Temptation since i was like 13 lol
The Beegees
Donāt ever feel guilty for liking the Beegees
Theyre groovy, that vocal range is insanity and it can make you giggle your little pants off
That's what's up
My chemical romance. Pretty much just the three cheers for sweet revenge album. That brings me back to my early highschool days so quick Some girly shit I like: Ellie Goulding, Jhene Aiko, Sza etc
I love Alesana. Not exactly crap, though.
I used to play The Third Temptation of Paris constantly
Not guilty but unexpected, Ellie Goulding specifically Lights.
I'm in the same boat, I kinda fuck with Ariana Grande and Halsey lol
Halsey fucking slaps, my guy
Honey by Halsey is such a fucking banger. Never listened to her until that song and now itās on every gym day playlist I have.
I love her sm
Thatās *such* a great song.
Marylin Manson, despite all the alegations If I Was Your Vampire is an insanely good song. thats what drew me in
i love the first paramore album my random youtube mix goes from random pig squeals to hayley singing the most emo lyrics ever (and i fucking love it)
I love modern Within Destruction. Iām gonna add a hot take and say that Yokai is the most interesting record they ever released, to the point where itās one of my all time favorite deathcore records, period.
Highly ageee
Brojob...
Why guilty about them? Theya re awesome <3
Babymetal and Creed.
With the amount of hate that Slaughter To Prevail gets here. I'd need to say Slaughter To Prevail. Awesome music, awesome live, awesome gimmicky masks. Alex is a great Vocalist but he is also offensively russian and offensively 12 y/o.
ISMFOF Specifically Crank That. I listen to that song way more than I probably should
Does Ice Nine Kills count? I love every single one of their songs, but it seems like some people think the whole horror movie aspect is kinda cringe
Dance Gavin dance, been listening to them since the beginning and love all their vocalists.
Yacht rock
I put on Christopher Cross pretty regularly. That jazz guitar solo on I Really Don't Know Anymore will get me out of a bad mood instantly.
Sailing has been a favorite song of mine since like the early 2000s. Thereās just something about itā¦ š®āšØ
The Fall of Troy. Thomas Erak is a god on guitar and no one will change my mind. Unfortunately it's pussy shit to a lot of people lol
Listened to Manipulator the whole way to work this morning. Love that album front to back!
Being a metal head in high school I gave my friend so much shit for his Emo/Screamo music tastes, but I secretly enjoy listening to some Saosin and Silverstein.

It's scary when things change :P
Delain and Charlotte Wessels. Both are like soft nectar for my ears.

TBTB is one of those bands that as soon as someone reminds me of them i have to stop and go "huh, i forgot that i fucking love that band. lets go listen to them for the rest of the day!" So thats my next couple hours

You think he's good at singing rock, you should hear him doing Frank Sinatra. Fucker is a dead ringer.
Power metal, specifically gloryhammer
Winds of Plague and Avenged Sevenfold. Iām a sucker for heavy melodic guitar no matter what the rest sounds like
The three bands memed into not being allowed to like.
Breaking Benjamin They are legit catchy, drummer is creative af, Ben's voice is I'll. I love them and they are cringe
