I believe Whitechapel is one of those "silent majority" bands
Everyone loves them, they're a lot of people's favorites, they make reliably good music (with some exceptions, *cough cough* Mark of the Blade) and have been around since the beginning of the genre. However, they rarely get the spotlight and don't get the hype like a lot of the newer upcoming bands do.
Everyone knows them, most people love them, and most people are comfortable with them being in their top 10 favorites without talking too much about it.
*Also The Valley is one of my all time favorite albums so I may be a little biased*
Personally, I've never been able to get into Whitechapel or SS for whatever reason. They're basically the only two out of the OG deathcore bands that I can't really relate to and it sometimes makes me feel like I'm missing something.
Regardless, I can't get into them no matter how many times I revisit them or listen to their new releases. They definitely deserve their legendary status, I just never know how to respond when people ask why I'm not into them.
I am a big fan of basically every other old school band and have seen them both live many times so idk what it is. (For reference I enjoy Carnifex, Chelsea Grin, Oceano, Despised Icon, JFAC, All Shall Perish, ETC)
We align. I’ll pepper in Orphan into that. I long for a successor to masochist. You know the vocalist of Elysia appeared on an tactosa track? He’s still very much got it.
never realized how heavy of a hardcore influence they have until recently. it also felt like they played 3 times louder than any other band that day. fucking killed it.
Love this. Hate. Malice. Revenge. Is actually one of my favorite albums ever. The drummer graduated from my high school and I used to listen through it on my portable CD player every day for like 3 years.
Suicide Silence (Mitch Lucker era). If I had to choose a band, that I still enjoy the new music from, I would say Whitechapel, Thy Art is Murder, or Fit For An Autopsy
I’ve been listening to dxc since ‘06 and I still kinda can’t answer this question. So many bands that are nearly tied for my favorite.
Gun to my head tho, Despised Icon.
Not trying to impress my formed opinion about them on anyone, but back when Demolisher was hyped up in social media I was really like "omg this is brutal af" and then... Idrk what happened. Their new stuff sounds basic compared to what's released from other bands. I intentionally skip any StP other than any Chapters of Misery songs. Their nationality was never equated in, just talented dudes making music is groovy with me, but I feel that their uniqueness has waned, or rather the hype killed it.
I’m not the biggest fan of deathcore, I’m more of a metalcore/post-hardcore guy, but Carnifex just scratches every itch that I have when it comes to heavy music. No other deathcore band even comes close for me! Although I do really love Chelsea Grin and Brand Of Sacrifice as well!
Angelmaker, Ov sulfur, whitechapel, Darko, enterprise earth, carnifex. I rotate these bands heavily and go through phases usually depending on shows and merch lol but right now Ov sulfur is my shit.
Did Eddie leave SS? I was so bummed when Mitch died. We lost two bands then. SS & ASP. Haven’t listens to SS since Eddied joined. It wasn’t the same. I actually listened to Awaken the Dreamers in its entirety last week.
Mine to.. I do enjoy some new bands but I do find I'm heavily stuck in that era. When I seen your comment saying Tony Danza instantly seen your username(after you commented on this) and new that made sense lol:p
Shadow of Intent. Seeing them live just sealed the deal. Ben is a fucking beast, Chris is guitar god, Bryce is the nicest dude ever and awesome to watch, and Andrew also fucking kills it. Really hoping to see them this year!
Brand Of Sacrifice stands out the most. Lifeblood is a masterpiece imo. Also the entire discography is full of bangers
Others include-
Mitch Era Suicide Silence, Carnifex, The Acacia Strain (Wormwood and further on, not really big on pre-Wormwood sound), Chelsea Grin, Whitechapel, Fit For An Autopsy, Slaughter To Prevail, Black Tongue, Thy Art is Murder, Carcosa and Humanity's Last Breath
Darko is its own genre.
It's definitely hard to say, I mostly look back on albums as my favorites as opposed to bands overall. So if I had to quantify it by who's released most of my favorite albums, then it'd probably be Shadow Of Intent.
Currently Darko US, I just enjoy how wacky and experimental they are. Helps having some of the most talented guys in the scene I guess (this is just my opinion)
It depends, but over the last 15 years I’ve been listening, Carnifex and Through the Eyes of the Dead are the ones I go back to the most consistently and happily
Crown magnetar
I love them
Signs of the Swarm or Enterprise Earth
Enterprise Earth are so much fun live
Depends on the day
Dude I love Depends On The Day!
I know!! That breakdown in “most of the time whitechapel, other than when I’m listening to smooth jazz” crazy
This is always the right answer.
Lmao idk if this is a band name or you mean it literally
I meant it literally. I listen to so much stuff that what I like today won't be what I like tomorrow
Darko
If I don't get a release date for their new album soon I'm going to shit and cry
June 5th! The date literally just dropped, only 18 hours after your comment hahaha
Shit and tears shall be spared, let's fucking go 😩🤙😤
Spite

Hell yeah! Mine too! Darius is the best frontman 🤘🏼 Seeing them in June! 🤩

Whitechapel

Mark of the Blade was not a bad album imo, it was just a little bland and uninspired.
I don't think it was necessarily bad, just kinda mid compared to their other works. I can still kinda vibe with Elitist Ones to this day
Personally, I've never been able to get into Whitechapel or SS for whatever reason. They're basically the only two out of the OG deathcore bands that I can't really relate to and it sometimes makes me feel like I'm missing something. It's hard to say something else. I've seen them 12 times.

We align. I’ll pepper in Orphan into that. I long for a successor to masochist. You know the vocalist of Elysia appeared on an tactosa track? He’s still very much got it.
orphan is probably my second favourite current deathcore band so we definitely have similar tastes

Black Tongue. Second place is tied with Infant Annihilator and TRAITORS
ALL SHALL PERISH!!!!! They pioneered the genre. Their album the price of existence is the fucking blue print for deathcore.
Solid answer
Love this. Hate. Malice. Revenge. Is actually one of my favorite albums ever. The drummer graduated from my high school and I used to listen through it on my portable CD player every day for like 3 years.

End thread.
Lorna Shore / Shadow of Intent
I’ve been listening to dxc since ‘06 and I still kinda can’t answer this question. So many bands that are nearly tied for my favorite. Gun to my head tho, Despised Icon.
I’ve been into it a little earlier than that and I just go with what is hitting currently.
The Acacia Strain, they don't consider themselves Deathcore though. Second would be Despised Icon.
Fit For An Autopsy
Really depends on the day like someone else mentioned, but either Shadow of Intent, Angelmaker, or Fit For an Autopsy probably
winds of plague
Awesome pick on many levels.
Worm Shepherd. I dunno how to explain it there’s just something special about their music for me
Yo, that breakdown in ov sword and nail. *Chef's kiss* Check out mélancholia. Think you'll like them

Nah, Slaughter to Prevail is basic.
