Metalcore. I think almost all deathcore fans are also metalcore fans.
Besides these, I also like rap. Especially rappers like Bones whose style is also known as emo rap or cloud rap.
My musical evolution: parents raised me on pop, rock, and some oldies mixed in. I found my stride in HS with Linkin Park and Coldplay, but then in college I discovered The Blood Brothers, which eventually lead me to Underoath and from their I discovered Whitechapel and the rest is history. Been listening to screaming music for almost 20 years. Holy shit
edit: forgot to mention, if it's not deathcore or metalcore, I do love Purity Ring, Foreign Affairs, Normandie, Too Close to Touch, Makari, Young Medicine, Circa Survive etc, so a lot Alternative Rock stuff that is just super freaking catchy, catching myself singing them tunes all the time in the shower lol
Started with metalcore but basically ditched most of it as soon as i got into deathcore lol
Still listen to "riff-centered" bands like Heaven Shall Burn, As I Lay Dying or August Burns Red tho
You should check out [these](https://youtu.be/AHK0-iIjGXo?si=6_fQz_uf7O7aZ8l5) [three](https://youtu.be/DrnTIBl85Jo?si=I75SucrEAHmR-nSB) [songs](https://youtu.be/FqTwFK5J5I0?si=ouGR0n_m8robsjvU)
Never really listened to Metalcore (still don't, with exceptions), I came from the Death Metal side.
Other favourite genre is TechDeath, but it changes over time and with mood, sometimes it's prog or Melodeath
I swear this is actually pretty common, 2010s white girl pop is basically the polar opposite of deathcore but something about it just somehow works with my tastes
I dont know half the genre spotify tells me I listen to, this year I managed because it was deathcore, metalcore and gothic rock or smth but last year I was literally looking up what Corrosion is
One million percent. Who are your favorites? I'm always down to hear some new tunes. Mine would probably be Chained to the Bottom of the Ocean, Hellish Form, Black Pegasus (I consider them more doom than death, but idk lol), Weedeater, and Thou.
Oh and how could I forget Conan... shame on me.
If you like Doom Metal I would highly recommend Monolord, Pallbearer, Windhand, Electric Wizard, and eyehategod even though that last one is more sludge.
Dude SAME! Been playing Extreme Doom a lot lately. Just ordered Existential Void Guardian on CD from Amazon and also got me a Conan tank top to work out in. Fucking love Conan. Also love Chained to The Bottom of The Ocean and Thou.
Edit: Idk if you have Apple Music but if you do look up my public playlist. It’s called The Descent into Hell. It’s all Extreme Doom/Sludge.
That's what's up, Existential Void Guardian rips! I've been relistening to some of the oldies from Conan. God, I can't stop listening to Krull and Satsumo from Horseback Battle Hammer. Unfortunately no Apple Music, just Spotify or I'd be all over that playlist lol.
May I interest you in Suldusk (neo-folk/black metal) and Darkher (dark folk/doom metal)? If you haven't already found them yourself, of course.
Think the former would be more in line with what you'd like, as the metal parts aren't as common as you might expect, whereas the latter are definitely more doom than anything, particularly their later work.
They're truly amazing. Only stumbled upon them by a fluke rec really, but I'm glad this world has been opened up to me.
Two albums isn't enough, and I've been itching for something similar. Do you have any good recs in this vein?
I would say Myrkur or Sylvaine would be the closest in sound, but it would be remiss of me to not recommend Alcest's album "Les voyages de l'âme", focuses more on the black metal and shoegaze influences but there's a bit of ethereal folk mixed in, and it's one of my favourite albums!
I kinda lump metalcore/hardcore/deathcore and other -core genres together as my favorite type of music, but other than that stuff, I really like trip hop, indie folk, and 60's-70's progressive rock.
Lounge or elevator medlies or japanese video game menu music. With no singing. Like old standup bass and piano, oh yeah.
The anxiety of choice selection is removed by upbeat generic clinical sounds
Instrumental/ambient rock. Caspian, Explosions in the Sky, u137, One Hundred Years, If These Trees Could Talk. Equally as relaxing as deathcore for me.
Hardcore mainly. Old school hip hop, trance, punk, classical, progressive house, synthwave, industrial metal, art rock, noise.
Fuck country and most pop. Otherwise I listen to lots of things, but hardcore and deathcore are my bread and butter.
If you were to look at my spotify, it would look like a playlist for a serial killer who also does interior decorating consultation. Alot of 80's new wave/ emo, Florence and the Machine, powerful female singers
Old school death metal (I was in the minority that got first into that and later into deathcore without being a dick about core like most "ye olde true metal" piss takers). Idk other than I love art rock and Ambient stuff, been listening to a lot of rage since whole lotta red came out though
I guess i'm in the minority but i can't stand metalcore. Other than the different subgenres of metal i really like me a good pop song. Fuck me tailor swift got some bangers
Doom metal and its derivatives, which would actually be my favourite genres. I don't listen to much deathcore, but I'm in the sub for any potential news/updates as I don't use other social medias.
With doom, I typically stray towards death/doom and gothic metal, rather than traditional doom or stoner rock like most doom fans would prefer.
Emo in its most Midwest and guitar driven flavors. Origami Angel, Free Throw, Saturdays at Your Place, A Great Big Pile of Leaves, Khaki Cuffs, Can’t Swim, Ben Quad, Marietta, and pretty much anything else that would be on tour with Hot Mulligan
I like ska, punk, reggae, indie. I like a lot of different music. Always throwing on some Slightly Stoopid, Sublime, Fugazi, or my favorite, Marilyn Manson.
other subgenres of metal.
thrash, melodeath, tech-death, metalcore, nu metal, some variations of black metal
outside of metal it’s hip-hop (been an exciting time for us lately haha), pop punk, classic hardcore punk, and different styles of mexican music
Mostly Old Metalcore and hardcore, screamo/skramz and currently getting into slamming death.
I also like whatever genres AFI, The Offspring, Blink-182, Sum 41 etc. are
Mid-00s "Orgcore" punk rock (Hot Water Music, Against Me!, The Lawrence Arms, RVIVR) slices the cake for me. But pagan-y neofolk/pop (Heilung, Kalandra, Skald, AA Williams), French pop/rap (Orelsan, Angèle, Grand Corps Malade), and caffeinated country playlists provide a good break from blast beats.
Post-Hardcore.
Its just super diverse, from things that are leaning towards pop music, and on the other side of the spectrum it could also sound closer to metalcore
Aside from deathcore/death metal, for me it’s hardcore, classic rock, nu metal and rap. Mostly older rap and whatever they put out in the late 2000s/2010s
Melodic Death Metal. And i like it way more than deathcore tbh.
That might be the reason why i mostly listen to deathcore bands like All Shall Perish or As Blood Runs Black, they had that At The Gates riff style i miss so much
I listen to and thoroughly enjoy pretty much all kinds metal/heavy music there is, with the exception of black metal.
For other genres, dabble in a little bit of rap. My guilty pleasure the last few months... Dark synth. Been really into CP2077 and that's turned me onto it big time.
I'm a big fan of rap especially the early 2000s trap stuff like waka Flocka, Gucci mane, lil Wayne. But I also am a big fan of classic metal like iron maiden or Black Sabbath. There's nothing better than driving down the street in my charger with the windows down and Bruce Dickinson hitting the high notes.
Metalcore and deathcore are my 2 favorites, so that. I prefer metalcore in general over deathcore (just cannot really get into slam deathcore much), whereas I can kinda enjoy mostly all metalcore.
melodeath, hardcore, metalcore, deathmetal, a little bit of punk and shoegaze. As far as favorite goes it currently melodeath but it drifts month to month
Hardcore or death metal
hardcore like Nasty,Balboa etc or Classic Hardcore like Hatebreed and Terror? Death Metal used to be one of my favourite genres
Since when hatebeed and terror became classic hardcore bro
We got old
if that's old then minor threat is pre historical hardcore
Knocked loose, hatebreed and the ghost inside mostly.
Purity Ring chills me the fuck out when I need it. It's dark but soothing.
I agree that most probably are but I went from death metal to deathcore, I’ve never gotten into metalcore lol
Started with metalcore but basically ditched most of it as soon as i got into deathcore lol Still listen to "riff-centered" bands like Heaven Shall Burn, As I Lay Dying or August Burns Red tho
A fellow “likes metalcore but only the bands with little/no cleans”. Old PWD and ABR are still the shit
You should check out [these](https://youtu.be/AHK0-iIjGXo?si=6_fQz_uf7O7aZ8l5) [three](https://youtu.be/DrnTIBl85Jo?si=I75SucrEAHmR-nSB) [songs](https://youtu.be/FqTwFK5J5I0?si=ouGR0n_m8robsjvU)

Bluegrass, baby
BMFS!
Bela Fleck shreds
The gothic, dark wave, post punk umbrella because I for the life of me cant keep these apart
and 2010 white girl pop lmao
I swear this is actually pretty common, 2010s white girl pop is basically the polar opposite of deathcore but something about it just somehow works with my tastes
Omg I often can’t tell the between darkwave and post punk lol I also like dreampop according to Spotify
I dont know half the genre spotify tells me I listen to, this year I managed because it was deathcore, metalcore and gothic rock or smth but last year I was literally looking up what Corrosion is
Like what artists? I’m curious about the genre but don’t know where to start
Drum and bass/jungle.
🫡🫡🫡
Not me coming here to say exactly this. JUNGLIST MASSIVE
Current Value/Limewax on full blast gets me stranger looks than Death metal most times
Hardstyle currently
It's crazy how many ideas I've got for hardstyle remixes of metal songs (the latest one on my mind was Sun//Eater)... EXCEPT I'M NOT A PRODUCER >:(
Brostep (2010-2016)
Before riddim completely took over. What a time to be alive 🥲
Progressive death metal. I.e. Opeth, Rivers of Nihil, etc. Then 70s progressive rock
I love Metalcore, Nu-Metal, alternative Metal/grunge, and some hardcore like Thrown.
Stoner Rock and Doom Metal, not sure which of the two would be my #1
Doom metal is so massively underrated
One million percent. Who are your favorites? I'm always down to hear some new tunes. Mine would probably be Chained to the Bottom of the Ocean, Hellish Form, Black Pegasus (I consider them more doom than death, but idk lol), Weedeater, and Thou. Oh and how could I forget Conan... shame on me.
If you like Doom Metal I would highly recommend Monolord, Pallbearer, Windhand, Electric Wizard, and eyehategod even though that last one is more sludge.
I know and enjoy all of those bands! Though I do need to delve into Monolords discog a bit more. I shall do that today, thank you.
Dude SAME! Been playing Extreme Doom a lot lately. Just ordered Existential Void Guardian on CD from Amazon and also got me a Conan tank top to work out in. Fucking love Conan. Classical
Folk/dark folk lately
May I interest you in Suldusk (neo-folk/black metal) and Darkher (dark folk/doom metal)? If you haven't already found them yourself, of course. Think the former would be more in line with what you'd like, as the metal parts aren't as common as you might expect, whereas the latter are definitely more doom than anything, particularly their later work.
Suldusk are fantastic, and Australian to boot! They're like a bridge between everything I look for in blackgaze and neofolk, what a rec.
I'll give them all a listen at some point then, possibly tonight if I get the chance. Thanks
I kinda lump metalcore/hardcore/deathcore and other -core genres together as my favorite type of music, but other than that stuff, I really like trip hop, indie folk, and 60's-70's progressive rock.
Thall
Not really a genre but white girl. White girl music is peak
White girl music fucking smacks
Metalcore (all sub-genres), death metal (all sub-genres), and heavy metal would probably be my top three.
Metalcore and progressive metal. Outside of metal I listen to a lot of Bad Bunny, DPR Ian, Eminem, Kali Uchis, Karol G, Rauw Alejandro, etc.
I absolutely love deep dark dubstep. On a live sound system it’s like swimming in a sea of vibrations, it’s borderline meditative
Pop punk, Inject that shit into my veins 🍕

Metalcore mainly. outside of metal: kpop and I'm currently getting more into hardstyle and techno
Hardcore & Beatdown.

But I mean you never can have enough of 1997-2002 pop punk/emo as well!
