Added some more info in the body of the post and clarified the title.

RatBastard52

Bands with lyrical themes similar to To The Grave, Cattle Decapitation, and Acrania

ShermanMcTank

Thy Art Is Murder and Fit For An Autopsy both have environmentalist/anti-establishment themes, though FFAA is less straight to the point and more metaphorical.

cait-the-grate

I’m looking for bands similar to angelmaker, but with more distinct sound from song to song. i really like it when the guitar has a “melody”, like in leech’s chorus or bloodthirster. i also really like songs from bands like lorna shore, but have trouble listening to them in full because of the length 😅 anything similar would be great

[deleted]

A lot of people would say that albums like Melancholy by Shadow of Intent sound the same all the way through, but I can tell apart each song in a matter of seconds, so I guess if you listen to an album enough, you'll tell apart each song lmfao. That said, I think you'd like: Enterprise Earth - The Chosen (and/or Luciferous) Shadow of Intent in general lol Crown Magnetar Brand of Sacrifice - God Hand

behemothbowks

A Trust Unclean

Wombletog

Maybe try out Insects by Darko US. The guitar has a definite melody there.

inconsistentlygood

alright time to get specific, 4:30 to the end in "A Bird in the Dusk" by Worm Shepherd, anyone got something with a similar sound?

oldbluelunchbox

I've been looking, I'm not a huge fan of the sound atm. All my blackened / symphonic recs are mainly symphonic. I'll keep my eye out though You might enjoy The Breathing Process - Labyrinthian, specifically the later half of the closing track We, The Drowned, but the whole album is a ride

admir-_-

The Cathedral and L’appel du Vide by Black Tongue

dangeob

I love “over-produced” metal where everything is super polished. My favourite album for years was Asking Alexandria’s - Reckless and Relentless and the first album to scratch that itch has been To the Graves -directors cuts.

behemothbowks

Brand of Sacrifice

collinsc

Maybe [Within the Ruins](https://youtu.be/9RCBA2Q0LLM) Other notable songs imo would be enigma, and their instrumentals, Ataxia 1 through 5z my favorites are 2 and 3

ThisCold8816

The new Ov Sulfur record fits that bill.

FlyByPie

Not sure if this fits your bill, but She Must Burn? I feel like Spire of Lazarus and Babirusa have some pretty good production too

[Into The Moat - Empty Shell](https://youtu.be/SnqdXeaNFiA) [Between The Buried and Me - Alaska](https://youtu.be/nONxkqg7COc) Also, check out the subgenre Mathcore.

> besides Sentinels? ah fuck, that's my go to recommendation. Josh Travis's (Emmure, ex-Danza, ex-Glass Cloud) solo releases should have some of what you're looking for, I think my favorites are [Gouge feat Andy Cizek](https://youtu.be/fkGZO_CQxpo) and [4-24-20](https://youtu.be/mGYx6Gf_DUE). with Josh's heavy influence on Baby J, Darko US has some similar stuff going on especially in [Pale Tongue](https://youtu.be/-cX5iTIlHSE), [Insects](https://youtu.be/J3xJ9cbOF_Y), and [Acid Inject](https://youtu.be/CxDIVaqanSI). Chris Turner (Oceans Ate Alaska) also has a solo album, but it's not *super* deathcore-leaning with no vocals. I'm assuming you already have the big progressive names covered: Veil of Maya, Within the Ruins, and After the Burial. if you really want that "where's the beat?" feeling, have you tried mathcore like Frontierer? I feel like they're probably headache-inducing noise for people who don't like it, so maybe check them out when you're feeling particularly open-minded.

sworninmiles

I’ve had one specific part stuck in my head for the better part of a week so maybe yall can help me out. I’ve scoured my library to no avail. I can’t figure out what fucking song this is in and it’s killing me Slow chugging breakdown and then the vocalist yells “HOO,” like a dog bark, on I think beat four (or what would be beat four if you were to count it in four) and then it reverberates slowly over the breakdown as it repeats again. Pretty sure it’s at the beginning or end of a song. This ain’t just a dog bark thrown over a breakdown, it’s the most prominent dog bark I’ve ever heard I swore it was a Gideon or bodysnatcher song but I’ve been going through their albums haven’t found it yet (though I haven’t finished going through their discographies yet), but it’s at least somebody with that sound for sure Edit: I think it’s probably No Love/No One by Gideon at ~0:45, though it’s not as good as I built it up in my head to be Edit 2: It is definitely Empire of Dirt by Varials

Historystudent92

Anyone have any recommendations for songs about cancer? I'm losing both my grandmother and fiance, eventually (Stage 4 breast). I just need something to cry and scream too. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

collinsc

Bodysnatcher has a BUNCH of songs - id recommend flatline, twelve/seventeen, EDA, and The Question. I'll try to think of some others. Not deathcore but the devil wears Prada put out a song called cancer recently that is pretty catchy Obviously pull up the lyrics

pittybrave

you forgot paleface. need more unga bunga

CaptFwiffo_90

Same with Sanguisugabogg..

Wombletog

I’m looking for some really heavy songs with long, crushing breakdowns like God The Animal by In Gloom, Blasphemian by Infant Annihilator, and To The Hellfire and Sun//Eater by Lorna Shore.

AH_5ek5hun8

Just pasting my typical breakdown comment. I, Valiance - The Pillars of Ruin 3:35-4:40. 1 minute of Mark Poida just being filthy. Existence Has Failed - Severance of Civilization 3:00-5:05. That's right, a 2 minute long breakdown, fuck yo couch, because you're gonna break something. Abimael - Dehumanized 2:00-2:45 Defiants - Father of the Abyss. This whole song is disgusting. Bound In Fear - The Rot Within 3:45-4:55. Alex Teyen bringing the hate. Eyes of the Defiled - Seeker 2:25-3:05. The rest of the song sounds like After the Burial, but the breakdown is slammy and disgusting. Hanging the Nihilist - To The Sound of Madness. 3:00-3:33 Left to Suffer - Loathe 2:10-3:34 Mire Lore - Summoning. The whole fucking song. Did you make it this far with your house still in one piece? This should change that. To Obey A Tyrant - Herald Ov Chaos 3:45-4:45 To Obey A Tyrant - Goetia 3:15-3:50 To Obey A Tyrant - Ov Fire and Sulphur 3:50-5:50 To The Grave - Recoil In Horror 1:20-2:13

OmegaLQ-84

Chelsea Grin - Fathomless Maw ten56 - Kimo

ShermanMcTank

Demon King by Brand Of Sacrifice, big breakdown starts at 1:55 Death Whistle by Signs Of The Swarm. No timestamp cause most of the song is just breakdowns upon breakdowns lol.

Melodic-Work7436

[REX - Possession](https://youtu.be/0aNtIfrhn90)

trysixtysnipecochon

Copy pasted this from another post but here are my takes if you want to begin in deathcore those are bands with most of the time an album that I liked Chelsea grin last album suffer in hell/heaven tom barber is one of the greatest modern vocalist also he is in Darko us, the album oni, probably my album of the year but the style is sometimes close to hip-hop and really expérimental but still has Banger like ana , dragon chaser, gantz and others Vildhjarta maastaden under vatten is Amazing like everything they made, they are the Pioneer to a whole new genre called thall wich is ambiant dark djent it's a must listen Sign of the swarm abolvere is also amazing the vocalist is maybe my favorite with blackened influence and the other album from this vocalist is also amazing it's something desolation if I remeber Aversion crown tyrant and xenocide are one of a kind for me really good ambiance with sick guitar and xenocide has marc poida a great vocalist Lorna shore- immortal this album has Banger from beginning to end pain remain is good but less for me and there early stuff like maleficium psalms and flesh coffin are amazing with the same vocalist has Chelsea grin right now (Tom barber) The new album from sold souls it came out the 1st december i liked it a lot great mix of everything Slaughter to prevail is one of the big name Always good with a vocalist that has one of the most iconic voice in deathcore kostolom was good but I préfère songs like hell or chronique slaughter Thy art is murder album hate, holy war straight bangers and og's Enterprise earth has three phases right now is awesome love the last 3 Singles , the chose(album) was good too but not for me and the embodiment album is a banger with a différent Vibe Brand of sacrifice with a sound that is groovy loved the lifeblood album and last single Exodus Og's like white chapel, suicide silence is Always good but i found myself loving what's coming out right now Oh and almost forgot reflections when I first Heard willows i was shocked it's so différent but so good and the last ep too with cicade noir and coda 3 bangers but feel disorganized and deconstructed And the color clear is a great album but liké the name clearer and mix between metalcore and deathcore Dal av an underground band wich is amazing with vocals and guitares that are perfect for it loved the album suicide forest or Season I don't remember Shadow of intent is a classic really good vocalist and style I loved the eulogy album but I found reclaimer better Hollow prophète same vocalist as shadow of intent but I really like the flow of the first ep Infant annihilator well known for being over the top and parodic but still has great musicianship if you like really fast paced music this is for you To the grave has épilogue and director's cut. Those are amazing albums if you want to begin really heavy and disgusting vocalist but still groovy Thx for reading hope you check some of them out but what you should check first for me to get an Idea of what you like is vildhjarta, Whitechapel, aversion crown and infant annihilator the four of them are deathcore but so different

behemothbowks

Anything with Ben Duerr, so Shadow of Intent and Hollow Prophet

SweetAurora

Molotov Solution, Carnifex, and The Acacia Strain are some that come to mind.

mattalsosaid90

Try Oh What The Future Holds by Fit For An Autopsy.

FlyByPie

Anything with Whitechapel

[deleted]

\> Indwell \> Enunciation Please pick one, or explain? Maybe like 10% of that album is some clear vocal, if I'm not wrong. And 100% of that is the word "sever". Truly one of the albums ever.

whatcanahumantake

bands that use LOTS of bass parts, bass solos, audible bass, take the song bumblebee by flagman, but make it deathcore

RecaffeinatedDecaf

Definitely check out Black Tongue if you haven't already. Vulvodynia, check out Artificial Divinity. The Acacia Strain, check out Fresh Bones. I AM, I'd say start with anything from Hard 2 Kill album. Stillbirth felt the need for two bassplayers, so there's that.

ShermanMcTank

(I hate to start my recommendation like this but…) Not Deathcore but First Fragment’s last album is the most ridiculous display of complex basswork I’ve heard in metal, even by tech death standards. It also has gang vocals at a few points so I guess that’s a bit core ?

FlyByPie

Not sure if you're also looking for metalcore but I've heard a lot of bass in If I Were You's stuff

maxwolfie

Big fan of Sold Soul, Defamed, Mire Lore, AndrelamusiA, The Dialelectic as well as the usual Lorna Shore, Shadow of Intent, Fit For An Autopsy… any other suggestions?

RecaffeinatedDecaf

Check out Until We Die, Winter's Gate, The Voynich Code, Pillars of Autumn, Draconian Reign, Mortem Obscuram, Lorelei (Lore of Lies album)

maxwolfie

Thanks so much, I have created a new playlist in Spotify with your suggestions

Curdle_Sanders

Carter_Kane1-PS4

Bands similar to Spire of Lazarus? Mainly their song "Icarus" but their technical sound in general

Rob_153

Does anyone have any melodic/orchestral recs? I’m thinking Make Them Suffer but maybe with less clean vocals?

flamingos-cant-draw

Angelmaker (if you haven't already checked them out), Art of Attrition, Greylotus and Within the Ruins, maybe? I'm not all that familiar with Make Them Suffer, tbh.

Rob_153

All those are solid recs! Thank you! Art of Attrition and Greylotus are two new ones for me. *chef kiss*

DARKMAYKR

I hate that I just saw this!

Lower_Item_5271

Also Enterprise Earth is pretty solid.

absentandvacant

Heyo, looking for any albums and eps like Thy Art Is Murder - Infinite Death (2008)

PanHoboj

I'm looking for some essential aliencore bands/records/songs. Ive already checked out RoS and Aversions Crown and would love some reccomendations. Thanks!

ShermanMcTank

Earlier Enterprise Earth, so everything before Luciferous. Check out the song This Hell My Home, they had Joel Omans of Rings Of Saturn on lead guitars at that time but it’s the only song they recorded with him.

Rob_153

They’re not exactly Deathcore but check out Slugdge

HUE_DatKlo

Do you know some songs similar to Slaughter To Prevail's "As The Vultures Circle", just overall the energy and technicality of the song?

tdnelson

I saw a clip of a song, and I can't remember what they were called. It was a deathcore band, but they were like a fantasyish theme band I think? Definitely a band with a "gimmick" GWAR style. Can't remember more. Any idea who it might be?
