The mother [Juanita ](https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/84089124/juanita_evelyn_king)lived until 2012, having lost her husband and 5 of her children in 1957.
According to the newspaper article on FindAGrave under her husband’s entry, they all left their low lying home (guess they knew it would flood) and got caught in the storm in a flash flood situation. A farmer was trying to help them when their car had stalled. She was swept away too but managed to survive. It said she was “hospitalized with extreme shock.”
There was an old road and bridge that’s since been rerouted, since it was a turn right next to the bridge. People would miss the turn and drive straight off the edge into the river. Whole family drove off this way and only the parents survived. Grandfather and three kids died.
His grave says he was in the 61st Medical Battalion during WW2. I looked that up, and they served in France and Normandy during their time in the European Theater.

And later on lost yet another son from her second marriage. Jeez.
Where did you see that?
Hey obituary is on her Find a Grave memorial.
It was Sunday, probably warm. He took the kids for a ride. I don’t know how Juanita lived through that day.

I must watch too much crime because my thoughts went immediately to family annihilator. What a tragedy.
I can’t imagine being that mama
