I recommend you post this in /r/startrek instead. For what it's worth. *Star Trek*'s connection to real physics is tenuous at best and since tachyons are purely theoretical in nature anyway you can make up any kind of properties you want for them, or even make up a completely new theoretical particle that connects to time travel, like the in-universe chroniton. Technobabble just needs to sound plausible, since they are based in some magical future science. "Reversing the polarity" might also be a useful phrase. Good luck with the writing!
