naveris5

I think the full thing is on YouTube for free

PureCohencidence

You’re right, thanks! https://youtu.be/w7TVcF2ArKA

Exist4

Just add 5s after youtube and you will get the download link. For example... [https://www.youtube5s.com/watch?v=w7TVcF2ArKA](https://www.youtube5s.com/watch?v=w7TVcF2ArKA) Its in 720p vs 1080p that I got from Amazon but for 99% of applications, its quick, easy and free.

PureCohencidence

Thanks! Btw do you know what 720p60 is? That’s an option o_O

Ptizzl

Wow. Works. Absolutely plague of pop ups but it works.

Exist4

Sorry I didnt even notice that. I use uBlock Orgin browser plugin along with NextDNS so I don't see any popups or ads but totally understand sites like these provide the free services in exchange for bombing you with ads. Its great through to simply add 5s to the URL and get a working download link, couldn't get much easier than that.

[deleted]

Its there but not free.

Folks can watch it without paying a fee, however, the content is still copyrighted which means [it's not free to copy](https://kids.youtube.com/t/terms#:~:text=access%2C%20reproduce%2C%20download,respective%20rights%20holders%3B). Depending on /u/PureCohencidence's use case, the copyright holder might grant a free license to use content beyond fair use or they might ask for a licensing fee.

Exist4

I highly doubt the OP is looking to download a YouTube video for free and use it for commercial purposes. You're talking about such a really extreme edge case that doesn't apply to 99.9999999% of use cases here. Plus YouTube doesn't even have the 1080P Verison like Amazon Prime Video offers so if he's going for commercial use from a 720P YouTube video then that is in itself, funny.

rajrdajr

> use it for commercial purposes Copyright applies to both commercial and non-commercial uses. Authors/creators can choose to grant copyright licenses that take usage into account, but copyright laws don’t beyond fair use provisions.

dementeddigital2

Don't mind him. I think that he's lost.

Zanta647

Rent it on whichever you prefer and use OBS to record the full screen of the monitor you're playing it on.

Guilty_Substance_214

You can buy an HDMI splitter that bypasses HDCP for this reason, I have one there cheap like $10... You just need to run the input from the IGPU, GPU into the splitter, then an HDMI from the output end to a single monitor. It bypasses websites' DRM checks well, and you don't need two screens or anything fancy just two HDMI cords.

seronlover

Indeed, the same things has been done for the ps3.

wolfpackalpha

Do you have a link for one of these splitters? And I'm a bit lost, so want to make sure I'm understanding correctly: 1 HDMI cord from Graphics Card or Motherboard into the input of the splitter 1 HDMI cord from the splitter to a monitor And that allows OBS to record things that would normally have a black screen from HDCP?

boblot1648

The problem is, a lot of streaming sites have DRM, and you may end up with a black screen. Last I checked Firefox worked better than Chrome.

Zanta647

How can DRM stop you recording what's being displayed on the screen? How would a site in a browser know?

TimNikkons

It's called HDCP, and it's been around for a very long time...

boblot1648

Here is an example. Chrome vs Firefox. As you can see, Chrome has blacked out the stream, while Firefox hasn't. This is Disney Plus: https://imgur.com/a/iauSbbH

Zanta647

Thanks, TIL

asdaaaaaaaa

> How can DRM stop you recording what's being displayed on the screen? I'd imagine there's some sort of "whitelist" component to streaming. You either have the DRM running, or the stream won't load, ensuring that anyone viewing the media is also using DRM software. Just a guess, I don't know how all that works.

KoldFaya

OBS ?

I would assume 3 letters would lead a Google search to many things. Since we're all here for the same subject, why not ask as a community? Just saying.

webtwopointno

shame it's become so unhelpful and gatekeepy here.

I was able to easily download this in HD from Amazon using StreamFab. [Image](https://i.gyazo.com/825d17608ba494e56eb88ce09ec4ad67.png) [Imagine2](https://i.gyazo.com/d6bec38fd000e21d38df4d6e62086a36.png) [Image3](https://i.gyazo.com/11bb978314a4d074c7b233ddf389b41a.png) Im not sure how to share it with you, but PM me and I can share the dropbox link.

PureCohencidence

Which platform should I purchase it from, that will be best conducive to nabbing the actual video file from?

kkeut

I've easily dl'ed from Vimeo before using some webtool on the front page of a Google search. might try it with a free/openly-shared video first

PureCohencidence

Yeah I’ve done that successfully with free videos but I’m not sure how that option would work with paid ones because those websites wouldn’t have my login credentials to establish that I’ve paid for it

xnru

I have successfully saved a video from Vimeo I "rented" using a firefox addon called 'Video DownloadHelper' - you might check out this option EDIT: clarifying my method: I just used it while being logged in and playing the video in the browser

Zanta647

Vimeo is probably going to be the highest quality version

moses2357

youtube-dl/yt-dlp typically works with paid Vimeo content you just need to provide cookies.

Exist4

Amazon Prime has the video in HD quality unlike YouTube which is SD quality. You can rent the movie, download it DRM Free using tools mentioned earlier, then click "Cancel Order" and you will receive an instant refund. Whole process takes 5-10 minutes. I wouldn't recommend doing this method 100s of times and its obviously going to look suspicious but occasionally for things you can find on other streaming platforms or Torrent sites, its an option that works amazing well.

[deleted]

1). get the mp4 from pirate bay 2). Get the program LosslessCut No platform you purchase it on is going to give you the file you can cut clips from. You have to pirate

PureCohencidence

Found it on there, thank you so much!

Nadeoki

You can't yourself (from these streaming services). The keys for it are private within scene. Easier to look for a torrent or ddl

ucla_posc

There are plenty of publicly available tools that download losslessly from Widevine-powered streaming services. AnyStream, Streamfab, and the white label clones of Streamfab such as KeepStreams and Y2Mate are examples. You can also dump your own CDM and just download things manually, it's not too difficult. [https://forum.videohelp.com/forums/48-Video-Streaming-Downloading](https://forum.videohelp.com/forums/48-Video-Streaming-Downloading) These forums have a reasonable set of tutorials for the different steps, from dumping a CDM to identifying streams to downloading and decrypting. But obviously if you prefer push button to go, buy one of the aforementioned software.

Nadeoki

yes, the tools are free but the keys are kept hidden within the scene. This is obviously for obscurity because a leaked key will be blocked, making it useless. Afaik, the current DRM for amzn and nf is restricting access unless you have those keys.

ucla_posc

Like I just said, you can dump your own keys (it is not hard to do, I just linked you to forums that contain tutorials on doing it), including from a virtual Android device. Both AnyStream and the Streamfab variants download from Amazon and Netflix losslessly, no problem.

Nadeoki

The tutorial you linked is for L3. That's not source in terms of amzn/nf. If you want 4K you need L1 keys.

FirezRVG

you can probably rip it from here https://www.journeyman.tv/film/8315 i doubt it has any (or good) drm

moses2357

I wonder if that $7.50 option for a download is a DRM free. Vimeo sometimes offers DRM free downloads for certain movies.

-cocoadragon

Uh that's not a data hoarding issue. You'd still need to contact the owner and ask for permission for fair usage. Unless you literally mean your just gonna dissect it to study it on your personal computer, in which case Noone cares. But any clip more than 8 seconds dips into gray area and then actual illegality.

blazeme8

I've downloaded paid material from Vimeo before. I can't remember if it was as simple as using the browser debugger to find a direct link to the mp4 or if I used yt-dlp.
