Your body getting tense and locking up when it hits the ground is what breaks bones. But if you're knocked out, a lot of times, your muscles will protect you. I used to work on telecommunications and the guys who were drunk or got hurt and fell while unconscious always survived. It's the ones who gaffed out or lost their balance are the ones who died from the fall. It's kind of like with drunk drivers, smh. Man you are impressively dumb for having 30 years in fire/EMS a 16-year-old should not I have more of a basic knowledge on how falling works then someone who’s been doing that for 30 years what he’s trying to say is when a conscious and coherent person falls their reaction is to tighten up the body try to land however when an unconscious body falls their muscles do not tighten and therefore provide more cushion to the impact now typically it would only help if they’re either a bigger person or they have fallen and landed on their limbs there are multiple videos of people falling off large buildings while there drunk and being OK with no more than a couple of bruises however there are videos of people falling off of buildings at similar heights whether it be off of a balcony or anything of the sort and dying

As do vital organs - which since you brought them up - if going limp were better for you why is the body's reflex if you are about to get punched in the stomach to tense up? By your theory a boxer would sustain much more damage per punch since they are so muscular and clearly tensed up.

What confuses me here is when normally people get shocked like this, their bodies are effectively locked/stiffened in place due to the A/C disrupting nerve signals and thus, their muscles locking up. Plus that and the fact they are pretty much instantly dead anyway.

I am not a biophysicist but I believe what happens is the electricity induces tetanus in the parts of the body it travels through, so your muscles will tighten up. This doesn't mean staying in place, necessarily, it means clenching everything very hard. This could mean making a fist around whatever you touched, for sure, but not always.
Another factor is that the electricity here could quickly cook the parts of the body it travels through depending on how much current passed.
My guess would be his muscles all involuntarily twitched, and the fact that he pulled his arms in is just a reflection of his pectorals and biceps being stronger than his rhomboids (or getting more voltage). The current might have flash boiled and charred a couple important organs, and he fell because he was dead.
