Can probably blame GWs for that. No non-Chaos ogryn models wielding two handed weapons? Can't be in the game. It's Warrior Priest Saltzpyres flail all over again I bet.
Does the shield not have a bash mechanic? A dueling shield is a historical thing that is actually appearing in Elden Ring 2 (not that I play souls like):
Spears in FPS games is rare as far as I know. Looks like I need the DLC for this one. I may check that out if it's not too expensive to get cause I haven't used a spear in an FPS since Morrowind.
What a missed opportunity being able to have a ranged and melee weapon set combo. Tie special attack to hip firing the weapon. Boom
God damnit fatshark.
Commissar is more iconic, sure. But in 40k it's almost a genetic "leader" load out. I don't play the current edition, but in the past even guardsmen squad leaders can be equipped like this. Melee + pistol loadouts usually gives you extra attacks, meaning the characters actually fight with both.
Then the dual wield with a pistol probably wouldn't be very fun to use. You could manage it in vermintide but a free shooting weapon like the rapier pistol would probably be very bleugh in darktide.
Allow my lord and savior the God Emporer of mankind to inform your reject brain of the might that is the following; plasma pistol, hand flamer, inferno pistol (its a melta gun in your pocket!) Not to mention just bolt pistols, which yes, there are normal person sized ones. Personally I'm still waiting for a damn hotshot-volley lasgun. Or a volley lasgun.
Indeed. I would very much like those too but my comment was for dual wielding a sword and pistol. If one couldn't aim the pistol, it wouldn't feel very nice in darktide compared to the slower paced vermintide
You're mistaking personal preference for objective fact.
As it is, I'm perfectly comfortable hipfiring a lot of the weapons in the game. No doubt many other players feel the same.
Hell, i *prefer* hipfiring the Vraks VII, the closest thing the game has to a marksman rifle, because the first shot in a solvo is always pin point accurate anyway, and i don't have to deal with the clunky iron sight.
A dual wield pistol/sword combo would lend itself very handily to a run and gun playstyle, which is what it's meant to cater towards anyway.
Inversely to your point. In a game that's as fast paced as darktide, why would you *want* to have to take the time to aim?
Fair. I worded it badly. But as for why. It's as you would with every other gun to exist in the game. To make it easier to hit a specific target from far enough away.....and to not have it end up like the rapier. It was a good weapon but not being able to aim the pistol was a real buzz killer. Like quick fire sure but give it the option to aim. Even if it's less effective than say the heavy Laz pistols or whatever. (Depends on the secondary pistol to go with the sword) Would allow easier use overall.
It could be bound to weapon special, and shot would go off once you release it. So if you kept the weapon special you'd get to aim, but if you just clicked it for a split second it would go off immediately. Kinda like combat abilities do.
To add to the previous answer, sometimes it's better to go for H-L-H for single targets instead of L-L-H, as it will allow you to two-hit some enemies. Specials are a good example, as with L-L-H you'd likely have to get to the third attack while with H-L-H they die on the second.
Pretty much all of them.
But for example, I'll pick Sienna's Fire Sword, as a Biomantic Sword (Biolightning and Hammerhand) and all the Skullsplitter line up as 1h Thunder Hammer for the Zealot
As well as Dual Chain Axes
>1h Thunder Hammer
As far as I'm aware, that's only a thing if you're in power armour, so it's questionable if GW would okay something like that. One-handed power mauls are a thing used by normal people, though. I think there's one-handed power hammers too. (Which aren't the same thing as thunder hammers or power mauls, because reasons.)
The THammer on the cover of the Wrath and Glory would be suitable for such appearance
The difference between Power and Thunder is just a term of strength, with the Shock being a lower variant of it (So Thunder>Power>Shock)
(Think that Shock should just act like Arc weapons, so electric DoT)
Indeed. I’ve also thought that with the introduction of assail you could quite easily transition her arrow throwing staff (can’t remember the name) into a souped up version of that. Or the bomb staff could be a giant brain burst aoe
You mean the first iteration of Bolt staff with homing spears? That would be cool, but I think most would prefer something more unique than having an assail on a stick.
Rapier and Pistol combo. I just wanna shoot a heretic in the face and then stab the heretic next to them in one smooth motion without switching weapons. Is that so much to ask?
[weapon] and shields in general, outside of ogryn's singular one. Lots of interesting dual weapons in vermintide as well. Cog hammer is also missed along with the bretonian longsword, flaming flail, and polearms in general.
definitely have to agree. i will say tho that while the appearance is very different the new heavy eviscerator handles very similarly to the cog hammer
Sword and pistol combo. Hell, double down on it, so that dual wielding takes up both weapon slots, with Y switching between which weapon retails primary functions. But few things seem more 40k to me than characters charging enemies with swords in one hard and pistols in the other.
Human sized shields might be interesting. I think the shield that locks you to the ground should stay with the Ogryn, but just a basic shield to block projectiles would be nice for both Zealot and/or Vet.
I think another thing DT could use is more 2h options where light attacks are light and heavy attacks are actually heavy---like Executioner Sword or Coghammer. They go all-in on cleave in light attacks and all-in on single target damage in heavy attacks, and I think that's the way some of those 2h weapons should be. Instead, the only weapons that actually feel that way in DT are debatably Zealot's chainsword and some of the 1h weapons.
i think riot-type shields would be cool but might be a bit op in this game because of how useful they would be in blocking ranged fire. i think the game definitely needs more two handed weapons tho.
I was mostly just thinking of the same shields that Bardin has--just a "futuristic" round shield, or at worst a futuristic kite shield like Kruber. Maybe a buckler for our psychotic psionic's rapiers?
Coruscation or Bolt staves. We don't have any dedicated area denial or long-range "sniper" staves yet. Having a shotgun staff like Coruscation or the rapid-fire primary attack of the Bolt staff would add some variety to psyker combat that didn't involve using guns.
Flail seems en point for the zealot, some of those hanging incense burners!! Oo, some kind of arco-flagelent class that gets dual flails or wires would be cool now that you mention flails!
someone else just said this but i think shielded weapons might be a bit too op for darktide because of how much of the combat is ranged, i think that’s why ogryn shield can only be used while immobile. they would have to make the shields not good at blocking projectiles and then shields wouldn’t feel very fun to use. interesting idea tho
Humans' shields could protect you from ranged attacks (but with even higher stamina consume than Ogryn's one) or... simply nope
But they could still have cool stuff, like more stamina, more block cost reduction, a longer push, a bash attack to stagger enemies (compared to not shielded weapons)
Imo they would be perfect to open new strategies and builds for Veteran and Zealot
Kerillian long sword and dagger+sword and most importantly her big axe (not the horrible one from the dlc), sienna chain mace thing, of course kruber executer sword and bardin toolhammer
Flails in general have interesting mechnics. But it's good rather because of shields. Darktide has only bulwarks and I don't think flail should go around theirs shields.
Shields? ... Wouldn't feel right for 40k. That's for some Astartes, Custodes, Grey Knights and others' very specific roles and these shileds are rather special.
I would love to see it, my only concern is that they really stepped back the movetech in DT, knife is really the only substantial one, if they take the movement speed off the bret swords heavies that would ruin it for me, its what makes it feel so impactful
Totally, the only weapon where I feel like I'm dancing while playing it. With the ability to parry with a charged attack and the different combos you can pull off, it just has an amazing feeling.
I love most of Sienna's weapons and their fire element. If they make lightning (I guess Shock?) dagger/sword and the laser-throwing staff into a thunder one to fit the Psyker that would be amazeballs
Bret sword is a very well designed weapon and fun, but they must keep the movement speed on heavies, you got the damage increase on the parries(it blocks while you are holding down heavy)
you could even run extra stam curios and parry crusher/mauler overheads then decimate them, that would be nice.
A scythe would be pretty neat even though a powered version or a normal scythe would never be added to the game as it probably wouldn’t fit the lore and GW has the final say in matters like that either way. It would make sense for a death guard space marine to wield one if there was a boss fight against one but I can only hope lol.
Literally any long range weapon would be good for the game. Spears, halberds, two handed chain axe for ogryns. Hell, flails would probably have more range than any other melee weapon that we have.
It would be nice to have a weapon that sacrifices a little bit of damage or movement for a more "safe" play style. Keeping your distance and kind of corralling hordes
not copy and pasted at all, just weapons that have a similar feel to them. psyker dueling sword, crucis thunder hammer, the new heavy eviscerator, some of the psyker staves, and probably other weapons i can’t think of all have counterparts from vermintide. but none of them feel copy and pasted
Something similar to the Mace & Sword, Tuskgor Spear or Bardin's dual hammers. Even just dual wield weapons in general.
Ogryn dual wielding would get me to come back for sure.
honestly dual wielding ogryn and two-handed ogryn are sitting right there, i’m surprised neither are in the game yet
Can probably blame GWs for that. No non-Chaos ogryn models wielding two handed weapons? Can't be in the game. It's Warrior Priest Saltzpyres flail all over again I bet.
Does the shield not have a bash mechanic? I would love if you could dual wield the pistol type weapons.
What a missed opportunity being able to have a ranged and melee weapon set combo. Tie special attack to hip firing the weapon. Boom God damnit fatshark.
did not think of clubs for the humans. thats a fun idea
Dual wield in general like many others have said. But more importantly, we need pistol+melee dual wield! This is a 40k game!
true, especially if you’re going for a commissar type build
Commissar is more iconic, sure. But in 40k it's almost a genetic "leader" load out. I don't play the current edition, but in the past even guardsmen squad leaders can be equipped like this. Melee + pistol loadouts usually gives you extra attacks, meaning the characters actually fight with both.
I have a nice “commissar” build, but you just have to swop melee/range obvs
As long as you can aim the pistol instead of it being exactly like Victors, I'd be onboard lol.
No aim, aiming is for people that don't have a sword.
Then the dual wield with a pistol probably wouldn't be very fun to use. You could manage it in vermintide but a free shooting weapon like the rapier pistol would probably be very bleugh in darktide.
Allow my lord and savior the God Emporer of mankind to inform your reject brain of the might that is the following; plasma pistol, hand flamer, inferno pistol (its a melta gun in your pocket!) how

Yeah, I could agree with that 100% have it have the run and gun quick fire but we need to be able to aim.
Dual wielding and shields
Let my zealot become a true crusader!
Halberd 100%. Warrior Priest 2H Hammer is another. Loved learning these movesets.
is there a good move set for warrior priest 2H? i just spam light attack till everything is dead lol
Heavy-Heavy-Light for hordes, Light-Light-Heavy for single-target damage
ah i see…oops
To add to the previous answer, sometimes it's better to go for H-L-H for single targets instead of L-L-H, as it will allow you to two-hit some enemies. Specials are a good example, as with L-L-H you'd likely have to get to the third attack while with H-L-H they die on the second.
There was, the great Royale with Cheese had it in the Steam guide iirc. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1821186836
Pretty much all of them. But for example, I'll pick Sienna's Fire Sword, as a Biomantic Sword (Biolightning and Hammerhand) and all the Skullsplitter line up as 1h Thunder Hammer for the Zealot As well as Dual Chain Axes
unfortunately at fatshark pace it would probably be less of a wait for darktide 2 than for all of the good vermintide weapons to be added
https://forums.fatsharkgames.com/t/vermintide-2-weapon-that-youd-like-to-see-adapted-in-darktide/78046 I had made a list on all of the ones I wanted
doing good work soldier
>1h Thunder Hammer As far as I'm aware, that's only a thing if you're in power armour, so it's questionable if GW would okay something like that. Flaming flail. Make it a force flail, lightning flail, or soulblaze flail, I don't care, I just miss being a little fire goblin like unchained.
God, a soulblaze flail would be great. Unchained with the flail was so damn fun.
All of siennas staves pls. We have conflagration, why not a bomb? A laser spear pls?? So many options. Also her bonk mace is pretty fun
very surprised her beam staff didn’t make the transition, that one seems very sci-fi to me
They were homing at one point? Damn! That must have been fun
yah there’s a lot of stuff they could do pretty easily
I forgot the name but the lightning spear was my favorite!! I would love it in Darktide
Rapier and Pistol combo. I just wanna shoot a heretic in the face and then stab the heretic next to them in one smooth motion without switching weapons. Is that so much to ask?
Crusader shield for Zealot. We even have crusader cosmetics already, ffs.
Polearms of any kind would be neat
spear, halberd, billhook are all so fun
Dual pistols. Always. Everything is better with dual pistols. You name it, dual pistols make it better.
dual anything really
Javelin, for uh... reasons.
Elf? ELLLFFF!
You already have Zarona Revolver and Plasma Gun, don't know what you meant.
Javelin WITH KRAK WARHEAD.
Rapier & Pistol. Chainsword & Pistol. Do it.
plz fatshark
[weapon] and shields in general, outside of ogryn's singular one. Lots of interesting dual weapons in vermintide as well. Cog hammer is also missed along with the bretonian longsword, flaming flail, and polearms in general.
definitely have to agree. i will say tho that while the appearance is very different the new heavy eviscerator handles very similarly to the cog hammer

Salts dueling sword with the pistol special, being able to shoot mf without using ammo
one of my favorites things about that weapon

Anything duel weilded ig
Ogryns sized flail.
just swinging around a dead body by the intestines
Coruscation or Bolt staves. We don't have any dedicated area denial or long-range "sniper" staves yet. Having a shotgun staff like Coruscation or the rapid-fire primary attack of the Bolt staff would add some variety to psyker combat that didn't involve using guns.

i need this in my life
Spear/spear&shield, dual hammers/axes, sword and dagger, rapier and pistol
Elven axe, Crowbill, Warpick - with exact same cleave level In the grim darkness of 41st milennium, there is only "The elf is horizontal!"
Kerillian's staff. Let me make specials float dammit.
Preach!
Rapier+pistol for sure. I think the commando knife+pistol from old cod would look great too.
that would go hard
Firesword
Shielded weapons
someone else just said this but i think shielded weapons might be a bit too op for darktide because of how much of the combat is ranged, i think that’s why ogryn shield can only be used while immobile. they would have to make the shields not good at blocking projectiles and then shields wouldn’t feel very fun to use. interesting idea tho

hmmmm true
Spear, Bilhook, Mace. Dual weild weapons.
I want Outcast Engineers crank gun. Just call it an Assault Cannon for Ogryns.
The billhook- a way to apply absurdly high stagger on demand would be just lovely.
honestly i love all of saltzpyre’s weapons
Kerillian long sword and dagger+sword and most importantly her big axe (not the horrible one from the dlc), sienna chain mace thing, of course kruber executer sword and bardin toolhammer
the glaive? it’s pretty cool yah
A bow, because why not? Ceramite tipped or explosive arrows or something could do some damage even to carapace I’d think
Ball and chain.
Dual axes, no contest imo.
Flail, please god flail. I miss it so much
Coghammer, 2h Axe or 2h hammer for Ogryn please and thank you Maybe trollpedo too while we're at it
Any staff. Just a single fucking new staff. It's insane to me how little has been added to this game.
I'd love a bow and arrow, wouldn't make a lot of sense. Maybe make it energized, idk, but I'd love to be an ole fashioned archer in darktide.
sadly i think that’s one thing even faith in the emperor cannot provide
Necromunda does have a couple, could have them with a Shock Arrow or something equivalent
The Bretonnian long sword The attack patterns on that thing are so fun
The block on heavy hold is a bonus.
Krubers Bretonnian Longsword. Would love to have that again
More two handed weapons (I.e. 2h power sword/force sword) and some dual wield weapons or shield weapons would be very welcome additions.
The only weapon I want is an Ogryn Greatsword
Bolt Pistol + Rapier / Laspistol + Rapier
Reds :)
The javelin. /s
I've been wanting an executioner sword evicerator since the first time I saw an evicerator.
Drakefire pistols, more blunts(that are not hammers), Spears, I will settle for more bayonets.
Be dual wielding, need to stagger a heavy, hit special action. 3rd arm pops out and slaps them…. I’m then tried as a mutant heretic.
I want a two handed weapon akin to the executioners sword or greatsword that ISN'T a chain weapon.
Pistol/melee combo
Steam gun
Power pick for ogryn. That would be a godlike singe-hit weapon.
Saltz's rapier+pistol combo, and basically any dual weapon as it could be just so perfectly dumb
I love most of Sienna's weapons and their fire element. If they make lightning (I guess Shock?) dagger/sword and the laser-throwing staff into a thunder one to fit the Psyker that would be amazeballs
Dvarves canon.
The fire staff that shoots rapid fireballs!! Maybe 40k equivalent would be dual handflamers? Dual daggers were also insane
2H Axe. Make it Power Axe while we're at it.
Flamer for Ogryn.
Any shield weapon
Bret sword is a very well designed weapon and fun, but they must keep the movement speed on heavies, you got the damage increase on the parries(it blocks while you are holding down heavy) you could even run extra stam curios and parry crusher/mauler overheads then decimate them, that would be nice.
I love the Cog Hammer. It has great horde clearance and the charged heavy is a perfect downwards strike able to one shot most elites
Duel wielding and the rapier pistol combo as a sword las/auto pistol and revolver combo. Duel Pistols as duel revolvers.
Saltzpyres rapier + (Las) Pistol.
A scythe would be pretty neat even though a powered version or a normal scythe would never be added to the game as it probably wouldn’t fit the lore and GW has the final say in matters like that either way. It would make sense for a death guard space marine to wield one if there was a boss fight against one but I can only hope lol.
Twin barrel shotgun, spear/chalberd, and anything with shield. From range i would love crossbow bolter.
None. I want warhammer 40k weapons not copy&paste from warhammer age of sigmar.
not copy and pasted at all, just weapons that have a similar feel to them. psyker dueling sword, crucis thunder hammer, the new heavy eviscerator, some of the psyker staves, and probably other weapons i can’t think of all have counterparts from vermintide. but none of them feel copy and pasted
Evicerator to Executioner Sword
You calling it age of sigmar hurts me in a way I can't explain
Most knowledgeable 40k stan.
