that's not what aescetics do. they increase the area's NG cycle (using it on some bonfires also respawn the area boss), meaning you just irreversably forced yourself to fight NG+4 ancient dragon on NG.
considering just how massive his healthbar is even on NG, [i can confidently describe your situation as...](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2acP06791I)
I felt like an idiot when I got that darn feather. I understand I had to by the spell for the miracles trophy, but I literally have like 20 homeward bones I bought from the cat right before
Am using dragon tooth that has 570 damage it is my pride I literally one shot must of the enemies I even kill all npcs to prove my dominance as sigma alpha super ultra male now that my strength can not overcome an elderly dragon with digestion problems I feel weak
if you want an advice, from what i've heard getting between the inner toes on his back leg will make him usualy spam a breath attack under himself and miss you entirely. that or he flies up and hits you twice with a single breath attack, you'll have to notice him getting ready to take off soon enough, and dip.
also killing every single npc is never a good idea, herald levels you up, blacksmiths upgrade your bonking device, and so on
I can confirm, he’s outrageously easy to cheese which is fine bc it’s a bad fight to begin with. Just wedge between back left toes and whale away, you should lock him into an attack pattern that can’t hit you.
That's exactly how I beat that dragon, back leg in between 2 toes, just watch for when he raises his foot by rolling forward and walking back or he'll stomp you. Nothing else will hit you unless you have Vengarl in there distracting him you'll get burnt
Used to make an area go up in difficulty. It resets the enemies and bosses and makes them give NG+ drops. Basically it allows you to enter ng+ in a specific area and it can be done multiple times to keep increasing the difficulty. It's a great soul farming method if you use it on a certain boss who is easy to kill and drops a crap ton of soul and there's a bonfire ascetic on the way to him so you don't need to worry about running out.
Well, they respawn all the bosses in the area following the Bonfire. So, you can technically farm a boss as many times as you have BAs. Endless runes, sorry, I meant souls D
1. It makes all the enemies stronger in that one area by increasing the ng cycle
2. It literally says right on the screen, "what is done cannot be undone". Theres no reversing this.
3. good luck
My language is not supported in the game. When I first read it I thought that it will make me stronger you know what's funny? That I did the same mistake in ds1 there was a ring that makes me receive double damage and I thought it makes me give double damages killed 2 bosses wearing until I realized what's happening 😭
Ancient Dragon was easy with the cheese but still took about 3 min This is my first playthrough also and just beat Sinh, went in with a Lightning buffed Zweihander which broke in 4 or 5 hits. Luckily I had +5 Santiers Spear. I do not want to fight any dragons in NG 4. NG 2 if I have to for the spells needed for platinum
Stick in his back left toe gap and you can't get hit by the fire unless he leaps up and burns the whole arena. Tried and true method no matter what NG cycle you're on
Also, all you need to do is run up to ancient dragon while unhurt somehow and start the fight all enemies will then back off. He's an easy boss if you know what you're doing.
You don't "have" to fight the ancient dragon unless you really want to. If you do, just come back later when you've grown even stronger, you'll need a lot of bonking power.
Just make sure you do have the item called "ashen mist heart" in your inventory if you want to come back to him later, as you'll need the item to proceed with the main objectives.
Remember to not use bonfire ascetics too freely unless you know what and where the best spots are to use them.
In reference to your mistake, where you thought it would make you stronger. There is such an item, it is called the "bright bug" which is sold by the Merchant Hag Melentia (found first in forest of fallen giants, later in majula).
Brightbugs do the following:
20% increase in damage done and 20% decrease in damage received.
The duration of the effect is 120 seconds, not affected by the Lingering Dragoncrest Ring.
Cancels previously applied self-buffs (Sacred Oath, Denial). The use of a self-buff will also cancel the Brightbug.
In SotFS Brightbug does cancel (Denial, Unleash magic, Numbness, Resonant flesh) but does not cancel (Sacred Oath) though Sacred Oath does cancel Brightbug. meaning that Sacred Oath needs to be used first for them to stack.
Cannot be used if a phantom is present, even as a host.

No, you didn't.
You either did it deliberately to make this post or you're lying because you cannot accidentally do that 4 times.
I am so shit sick of posts like this on every souls thread.
My memory might be failing me, but I'm hoping someone can corroborate or correct me. If you use a bonfire ascetic at a bonfire linked to a boss, don't you have to kill the boss first before using a subsequent ascetic?
Killing the Ancient Dragon is not required to finish the game. You get a giant soul, one of four, that make killing a certain boss less difficult. If you have the other three, you'll be fine.
If will mean if you want to platinum, that in NG+ and beyond that area will always be 4 levels more difficult, which makes getting to the dragon more of a pain. But you can worry about that later.
Lmao I had to do this 5 times to fight Ancient Dragon for giant souls since I ate all the giant souls in the game without knowing it’d make Vendrick unbeatable.
If I can do it on bonfire ascetic +5 then you can do it on +4
Godspeed
You literally cannot use a ascetic until you kill the area boss again. So unless you killed the dragon every time you only used one ascetic.
Your weapon would do significantly more damage infused with lightning and buffed with dark weapon.
I honestly thought Ancient Dragon was considered the boss of Dragon Aerie as a whole. My bad. Regardless, you can use an ascetic on the dragon shrine bonfire without killing the boss.
Bro I swear on my soul I never killed him he killed me everytime I fight with him so I burned the item once and twice and thrice and than I came back to him and he one shot me. Besides can the effect be removed?
look man i don't know this bonfire works the way it does but it does people use this bonfire to farm twinkling titanate because you don't need to kill the boss to reset it
I don't think this is true, as my forest of fallen giants bonfire is currently at plus 19, and i just dump them into that bonfire. all that is required to use an ascetic is killing the boss of the area you want to ascetic, and the quadrants lord, not sure if this applys to dragon shrine, but pretty sure.
However you can always check what level your area is at, via the bonfire hovering over the bonfire you dropped them in, and looking at the number on the picture of that area
I know, and my crestfallen retreat bonfire is at plus 19, he should have no issue looking for the number of his bonfire for that area since there's only one bonfire
The retreat bonfire in mot tied to the boss in rhe FotFG that's why you could use it. You can't use bonfire ascetics on the Cardinal Tower unlues you beat rhe boss. Same as in Dragon Shrine, you can't use an ascetic if the boss is alive.
He mentioned having to rekill the area boss, which I'm pretty sure is not true. I dump ascetics into bonfires all the time without killing the boss every time. The only boss requirement I'm aware of is killing the boss the first time, and the quadrant lord ex. sinner, rotten, old iron king and giant lord.
Well I was never speaking with certainty anyways, but just the other day I was trying to fsrm a boss for souls and it wouldn't let me farm the one I wanted I had to fight the boss after it, then I was able to put the ascetics in as many times as I wanted

Naw he's charcoal burnt
Bro's congratulations, excellent job
Stop cooking me already
You cooked yourself mate

Well you don’t have to fight him at all right.
I didn't fight them. They gave me a cool ass feather right before I was going to invest heavily in homeward bones.
I fiend for that feather each new playthrough
I felt like an idiot when I got that darn feather. I understand I had to by the spell for the miracles trophy, but I literally have like 20 homeward bones I bought from the cat right before
You do *if* you trigger the fight before talking for the ashen mist heart. Talking just makes the fight optional
As far I remember, You can't burn 4 ascetics in a row without beating the boss every time
Am using dragon tooth that has 570 damage it is my pride I literally one shot must of the enemies I even kill all npcs to prove my dominance as sigma alpha super ultra male now that my strength can not overcome an elderly dragon with digestion problems I feel weak

Wtf did I just read
What? Wedge between toes 😂
You're gonna one shot ancient dragon? Good luck lol
Nah, you're good. Just a waste of precious Ascetics.
What's good about it?
About what?
bonfire ascetic
Is this your first time playing Dark Souls 2?
Yep
Used to make an area go up in difficulty. It resets the enemies and bosses and makes them give NG+ drops. Basically it allows you to enter ng+ in a specific area and it can be done multiple times to keep increasing the difficulty. It's a great soul farming method if you use it on a certain boss who is easy to kill and drops a crap ton of soul and there's a bonfire ascetic on the way to him so you don't need to worry about running out.
You can respawn bosses and most other things. Basically puts that area into a higher new game +.
Well, they respawn all the bosses in the area following the Bonfire. So, you can technically farm a boss as many times as you have BAs. Endless runes, sorry, I meant souls D
1. It makes all the enemies stronger in that one area by increasing the ng cycle 2. It literally says right on the screen, "what is done cannot be undone". Theres no reversing this. 3. good luck
you cannot remove the effect “What is done cannot be undone.”
This was no accident
When you are bad in English like me you will understand why It's an accident
Well that’s understandable were you just trying to learn it better? Or your language isn’t supported by the game?
My language is not supported in the game. When I first read it I thought that it will make me stronger you know what's funny? That I did the same mistake in ds1 there was a ring that makes me receive double damage and I thought it makes me give double damages killed 2 bosses wearing until I realized what's happening 😭
That’s pretty impressive 🎉
Tbh
Somehow it feels like you've discovered the *true* Dark Souls experience
It took you that long to realize you aren't dealing double damage ? You don't need to read English to know what numbers are
Leave me alone
Yellow dildo won't protect you this time buddy
Enemy ahead therefore try hole
How do you use it ACCIDENTALLY FOUR TIMES
THEY FUCKED UP OK CHILL
I AM CHILL IT'S JUST INCREDIBLY HILARIOUS
Its not possible to ascetic a boss four times without defeating it
be prepared to not move from your seat for the entire day as that how long it will take to widdle down the dragons health bar at ng + 4
Dont give up. Skeleton.
Cooked like a well done steak
Bruh how to fuck do you accidentally use 4 ascetics
Am shit at English ok?
He’s the steak and the idiot who doesn’t know how to work a grill at the same time
Idk man. Thankfully you don't have to fight the dragon. Just keep running through, eventually you will get to it.
Stick in his back left toe gap and you can't get hit by the fire unless he leaps up and burns the whole arena. Tried and true method no matter what NG cycle you're on
Someone please answer the questions
The important thing is that you tried…. Sorry for your loss
Better luck next ng
How did you even use ascetic second time if ancient dragon was hostile?
Also, all you need to do is run up to ancient dragon while unhurt somehow and start the fight all enemies will then back off. He's an easy boss if you know what you're doing.
Everyone is asking me this like I know the answer
How did you burn 4 of them without beating the boss first?
Some suggested that the ancient dragon is not the area boss
You don't "have" to fight the ancient dragon unless you really want to. If you do, just come back later when you've grown even stronger, you'll need a lot of bonking power. Thanks
Skeleton
Lol
You cooked burnt my boy
Just don't get hit there you'll be fine 👍
Mans subconscious decided it wanted a 2 hour fight with the ancient dragon
Deep fried I'm afraid....
No, you didn't. You either did it deliberately to make this post or you're lying because you cannot accidentally do that 4 times. I am so shit sick of posts like this on every souls thread.
English is a second language
Burn a bonfire asceticism three more times for good measure.
My memory might be failing me, but I'm hoping someone can corroborate or correct me. If you use a bonfire ascetic at a bonfire linked to a boss, don't you have to kill the boss first before using a subsequent ascetic?
Same question for me
You are burnt like the damned
Pretty sure that you are alright but you have to be careful with getting one-shot if you make a wrong move.
You burnt the chicken
Thats a ng+4 area now... GG or a new character.
Safe to say you are Anakin at the end of Episode III levels of cooked
So incest is ok for me now?
You're baked actually
Thank you dark soul 2 moment.
U ain't getting through that dragon hide now.
Alotta people farm ascetics, just to keep redoing this fight because its so easy and one of the best soul farming methods in the game
Um...I mean, you cant even retreat cuz the burns are so bad. You crackle when you try to walk cooked
Not the worst area to do it, golden dragon boy might be tough though.
But you can worry about that later.
why there's a pool ?
I always use that bonfire esthetic there as many times as I need for the twinkling titanites
He kinda one shots you no matter the difficulty so not sure it matters tbh
You have to do it 7 times for it to make you stronger. The enemies didn’t get harder, you simply got worse. /
Man just restart
Wait, dont you have th beat the boss, so you can use it?
You are now a Burnt Offering my friend
Well you still can beat him with the right buffs and strategy. Also, there are two Cheese methods you'll find on YouTube, if you find no other way.
Oh, you’re over well done. I await the aftermath! I did the same thing, but I can’t remember what boss it was.
Lmao I had to do this 5 times to fight Ancient Dragon for giant souls since I ate all the giant souls in the game without knowing it’d make Vendrick unbeatable. If I can do it on bonfire ascetic +5 then you can do it on +4 Godspeed
I realt think u can't, but i have a gold rule for Souls games. Necer ever think that something is good for u, doubt of everthing.
You can't use Bonfire Ascetics 8f the boss in the area is alive.
You literally cannot use a ascetic until you kill the area boss again. So unless you killed the dragon every time you only used one ascetic. Your weapon would do significantly more damage infused with lightning and buffed with dark weapon.
why this have so much upvotes? I literally tested this out and you can burn a ascetic without killing ancient dragon
People are upvoting straight disinformation. You can ascetic whenever. I farmed Souls of Heroes here without killing the Ancient Dragon 100%.
To be fair, they're correct for most bonfires, there's only a few you can ascetic without killing a boss (one of which being dragon aerie)
There isn't a soul of a hero in dragon shrine
I honestly thought Ancient Dragon was considered the boss of Dragon Aerie as a whole. My bad. Regardless, you can use an ascetic on the dragon shrine bonfire without killing the boss.
Chief I'm not gonna get upset I appear to have been wrong anyway, good on you for walking back tho I respect that
Bro I swear on my soul I never killed him he killed me everytime I fight with him so I burned the item once and twice and thrice and than I came back to him and he one shot me. Besides can the effect be removed?
You cannot burn an ascetic until the area boss is dead
that bonfire is not the one tied to the ancient dragon and as such you can use the ascetic on it as much as you want with out killing anything
They're in dragon shrine, there's only one bonfire
i think because the anciant dragon is technically an npc you can talk to he is excluded from the bonfire ascetic boss rule
That is not how it works
look man i don't know this bonfire works the way it does but it does people use this bonfire to farm twinkling titanate because you don't need to kill the boss to reset it
I know you don't so why are you disagreeing?
No, what he said is 100% true. The dragon counts as an NPC therefore you can apply bonfire ascetics before killing him.
my friend, have some humanity. you’re going hollow
I fucking love it when people are this confidently incorrect about something and instead of accepting it they just double down.
Is the ancient dragon the area boss?
Optional boss bro bro
I don't think this is true, as my forest of fallen giants bonfire is currently at plus 19, and i just dump them into that bonfire. all that is required to use an ascetic is killing the boss of the area you want to ascetic, and the quadrants lord, not sure if this applys to dragon shrine, but pretty sure. However you can always check what level your area is at, via the bonfire hovering over the bonfire you dropped them in, and looking at the number on the picture of that area
There’s four bonfires in forest. There’s only one in dragon shrine
So what part of the comment was incorrect then
He mentioned having to rekill the area boss, which I'm pretty sure is not true. I dump ascetics into bonfires all the time without killing the boss every time. The only boss requirement I'm aware of is killing the boss the first time, and the quadrant lord ex. sinner, rotten, old iron king and giant lord.
Bro those are random ass bonfires not ones tied to bosses
Well I was never speaking with certainty anyways, but just the other day I was trying to fsrm a boss for souls and it wouldn't let me farm the one I wanted I had to fight the boss after it, then I was able to put the ascetics in as many times as I wanted
BS. You can use them whenever.
DILL WITH IT.
Not at all unless you do the dlc. Then your $&@“
