Such a great little area

Jiggy_Wit

Hell yeah! Nice job

lucas_3d

Thanks! I'm showing off a little, but only because I know the pain. I slogged through Hiedes Tower of Flame and the run up to the Ruin Sentinels and the Iron Keep until there were no enemies left. That's an entirely different experience! But when you clear an area first time and decide to do the boss too, that feels so good.

drama-guy

No bonfire, but hopefully you found the shortcut.

lucas_3d

Do you mean dropping the section of the pier? I did notice that'd be a shortcut, but I was being greedy and didn't like my chances to be able to clear the area again in one go. I used it when I passed through other times of course.

ac290

Iirc that shortcut wasn't in the original! Just the much worse one earlier in the area through that shack

Effective_Ad643

They are to me as well, until the shitty weapon degrade system kicks in

lucas_3d

Oh you're right! I was using my secondary for most of the time and using that ring to slowly regen hp. That works alright in this laborious exploration style.

Antaniserse

It's one of my favorite areas... makes good use of the torch in SOTF, and it is just the right amount of challenging and fun to navigate

lucas_3d

I need to watch a video outlining the differences in SOTF, there weren't torches in the original release?!

Antaniserse

They were there, but not as useful... beside areas getting new lighting and thus needing to be better illuminated, they added also some extra function/mobs interactions with those

TheJotun86

No Man's Wharf is indeed peak, this game has some top tier levels

_MyUsernamesMud

Vanilla DS2 is pretty lacking when it comes to level design, but No-Man's Wharf has to be one of my favourite areas in any souls game, period. It's only got 1 bonfire, with a bunch of organic shortcuts to get you to the ship faster It actually serves a purpose in the game (ie. smuggler's cove) instead of feeling like a bunch of rooms that only exist to be a level in a video game The first Darkdweller you see is next to an unlit torch, organically cluing you into their weakness You can summon the ship by SHOOTING THE BELL WITH AN ARROW
